Cracking

Super steamy romance - and although the 'steamy' is a bit samey it has it's moments. Shifters, vampires and more abound. A great read.

2.5 stars, not awful but so mixed up plot wise, a case of much too busy too much going on. It definitely could have been a duology rather than stand alone.

So we meet Ansley ( odd name), a 22 year old recent graduate whose just landed her dream job, working for an investment company in Chicago. One night, at the bar her BFF Daisy works at she spies a man she feels drawn to at a speed dating event. He too feels a pull, but Hayden is an Alpha wolf shifter and Ansley is human, or is she?

In this world we have Scions, supernatural creastures who can be fae, witch, wolf. And the shifters have 3 forms, human, wolf and a hybrid of the two. And when Daisy goes missing, after being kidnapped by pesky vampires, Ansley has a vision and tracks her to a deserted church. Hayden the al0ha has been stalking, sorry keeping an eye on her, follows Ansley, rescues Daisy and declares he's her mate.

Then then do the horizontal tango but Hayden cant knot her, and the bond remains unfinished, but she feels drawn to Remy one of Hayden's pack and his brother and before long she has sex with all 5 brothers, and they are actual brothers so a bit awkward. And the bond snaps into place.

Then it starts getting bizarre, lots of other supernatural creatures, angels, other shifters, who were thought extinct, a murderous group of humans who hate supernaturals, ancient vampires. Most of the action takes place in the last 10% of the book. It just felt rushed. It definitely could have been a two book series and would have benefitted from a slower burn.

I found a lot of the plot rather ridiculous. Daisy the annoying BFF was myseriously now an immortal having had a blood transfusion from Ansley, but Ansley, although long lived wont be. I didnt understand it.

Also disappointed that Ansley, a modern, independent woman with a career she worked hard for has been reduced to a trad wife, churning out baby wolves every heat. Such a let down. It was ok. Not the worst but not the best.

Eye-rolling-level bad

Oh man, where do I even start

The premise is ridiculous to begin with, but I wanted something a little salacious so I thought, why not try this.

Boy was I wrong. It’s not really salacious, it’s just tacky and awkward. The writing is awkward and stilted. The dialogue is juvenile and cheesy. The plot is ridiculous, with new world-building elements and new antagonists still being thrown in at the 86-90% mark. Literally every 5-10% of the book had me eye-rolling with, here we go again, with adding yet another ridiculous plot element to the story. The FMC is immature and makes stupid decisions for no good reason, none that are explained in the plot. Her best friend is there through the whole book I guess as comic relief? She’s even more immature than the FMC, is basically an alcoholic, and honestly the story would better without her.

The MMCs are at least distinct from each other for the most part. But they’re so one-note that there’s literally nothing to them beyond “must find mate and fight bad guys or else we go extinct”.

After about 50%, this became a hate-read for me. I was determined to finish it to find out exactly how bad it could get (very bad, very very bad is the answer), and I didn’t want another DNF on my Goodreads list.

This is so not worth your time and effort. It’s not even in the category of “so bad it’s good”. It’s just bad.

I loved reading this story by Kelli Callahan. I have been a fan of hers for years now and just when I think she canto get any better, she releases another story. I love reading her RH stories. I love how the characters interact. Ansley is unaware of the supernatural world until she meets Hayden, Remy, Storm, Wyatt, and Jaxton. She is their mate and they will do what they must in order to keep her safe. Will they find a happily ever after?

Wonderfully creative shifter romance…
Ansley’s best friend Daisy failed to check in after a date. This started a bizarre chain of events that forever changed the lives of the women and the shifters that aided in the rescue. Hayden and his brothers Remy, Jaxton, Storm and Wyatt had lost hope until they found Ansley who opened up a world of possibilities… I received a free copy of this book. Ansley's story is a reverse harem, shifter romance with drama, spankings, ott steam, and characters that make this a page turner. Hayden and his brothers, Jaxton, Remy, Storm, and Wyatt, had pretty much given up on finding their mate until Ainsley came into their lives. This storyline is dark and steamy, the world building is well done, and the characters have intense chemistry and get their happily ever after. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

A new shifter story but oh so different than the norm. Full of intrigue and suspense from the first page till last. This tale takes us through many emotions but love triumphs. A must read…

Holy naughtiness Batman. WTF did I just read!? I was so in love with this one. Ansley and those men were spicy. I absolutely loved how original this story was. Loved the shifters and vampires. The twists and turns. I’ve never read this author before, but I’ll definitely be reading a lot more.

An interesting story with suspense and sexy times. A slow build. Ansley has a new job. She meets 5 alphas that want her as their mate and she doesn't know that supernaturals exist. A learning curve for her.

This is a steamy, naughty, and very sexy read.
I like how Ansley is slowly integrated into the shifter world and how cherished and loved she felt. This is an interesting story that maybe could have benefitted with being a little longer.

With a concept like that, it could’ve been a series. It was way too fast paced.

Take out some smut, make it more slow burn and it would’ve been so good.

I was with it… until the whole ‘slivers of multiple people’s souls’ inside her. So, not reincarnation, but also people still somehow live on through her…. but they’re also not ghosts…. You lost me.

liked it

Loved how we get different supernatural creatures in this book. Didn’t like how Ansley was just quick to accept and not question the whole supernatural world or that her mates are wolves. Either way they were all a perfect match for sure and she was more powerful than she could have ever known. Good story HEA.
