Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course by Catherine Yronwode is just a wonderful book!
From the author: "Dear friends and customers,

As many of you know, about 1,000 of my web pages about hoodoo are online for free reading at "Hoodoo in Theory and Practice" and "Hoodoo and Blues Lyrics," as part of the Lucky Mojo web site.

I have written and edited a series of books on the subject, including "Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic," "The Art of Hoodoo Candle Magic," "Paper In My Shoe," and "The Black Folder: Personal Communications in the Mastery of Hoodoo." These books and web pages have met with considerable acceptance in the magical community.

At the beginning of the year 2003, i decided to focus my teaching duties in a specifically focussed way -- as a series of 52 weekly lessons. By January 2014, a total of 1,900 students had enrolled in the one-year Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course and we have formed an active and permanent Yahoo groups elist forum for discussion of the material.

Nothing written for this Correspondence Course will be placed online at the Lucky Mojo web site; it's a private class, sent only to people who want to study the matter in greater depth than through the web site or my public books. Both theoretical and practical matters are covered, including free magic spells, herbal information, tips on how to work with the tools of conjure, chit-chat about what it's like to be a root doctor working for clients, and a lot of inside information that is not available through my other venues."

A great course put together that covers all the historical, etymological, cross referenced research passed along and taught from the perspective of Catherine Yronwode. I found out a lot about myself and how society at large has adapted aspects of Hoodoo into its structure. You will begin to appreciate the friendships and research that you will have gathered over the time of taking this course. Some aspects related to family I uncovered in my research has compelled me to get into further contact and generational awareness of what is possible.

My view on religion, how it was adapted to hoodoo, points of how it’s currently accepted and a full appreciation for the ones that have taken on this path, humbling to say the least. Folks went through a lot of hardship and developed full systems to keep this magickal modality alive. One thing is for sure the resolve and legacy of this heritage is not going anywhere so long as there is great content out here such as this course that preserves folks knowledge.

The book, although not long, appeared to take longer than I estimated. This is one of the course books that I know years to come from now, I will remember the exact moments I reached milestones in my page notes 📝 with all the great points of interest. My only reservation is that the course-book was not done with a digital version. I think that would make it more accessible to a wider audience.
