SETTING: Current day in the state of Ohio and areas around its cities of Columbus and Millfield.
TROPE: Former high school acquaintances. Forced proximity. Distrust. Longing. Forgiveness.
MAIN CHARACTERS:
1. ALIANNA RODNEY, female lead, works as a project manager for her family's contracting company.
2. AUSTIN O'CONNOR, male lead, is in dire straights because of some questionable business dealings, he could loose most of his fortune and is broker's license.
3. DARNELL RODNEY is the owner of Rodney & Sons Contracting and Arianna's father.
4. FRANCIS O'CONNOR is Austin's deceased Uncle Frank who has bequeathed Austin business property in Millfield.

This is a romance based one incident of caddish teenage behavior... Alianna had a crush on Austin. Austin was aware of her crush and exploited it by pretending that he liked her too. He asked her to prom and to be his girl friend then spent the event kissing and pawning over another girl as Alianna watched and others laughed. He didn't bully her; but he did humiliate her. After ten or more years, Austin returns to their hometown to refurbish the property he inherited from his late uncle. The authors take us readers through Arianna and Austin's journey from distrust, resentment, shame and other bad feeling and events to forgiveness and a trusting loving relationship and marriage engagement.

I think this is a second chance at love story. We follow Alianna and Austin; they have known each other since they were both in high school. Due to an unfortunate and hurtful remark from him, she went her separate ways. Now, years later, his life is not a bed of roses, as his life is in ruins. When, years later, she starts working for him so she can help him. A delightful story with many twists and turns, where they eventually find happiness together.

Austin and Alianna come full circle in this heartfelt story. Years ago, he made a comment that was upsetting now he is the one in the spotlight with ruin in his life. They reconnect when she accepts a job a job to work on his building. It jumpstarts their path and the drama surrounding it had me all caught up in them from start to finish. It is a well written story with compelling characters.

A Great Read

It’s hard to describe this book, it makes feel quiet like there is a calmness surrounding me. I enjoyed reading this story, I thought it was going to be more edgy but it wasn’t it was just a really good story.

she was worth it

Very sweet but intense story. He had a lot of growing to do. I was glad she let him find his measure even when she was angry. Her dad was the voice she needed.
