Review: I really like this authors enthusiasm. Always upbeat and ready to supply you with an ARC.
Eden is a wittle cwybaby. Always sniffwing and mewling with eyes downcast. Does that mean anything? What if your eyes are upcast? Does that make you a dreamer? And the rampant emotions are not just the purview of Eden. The author uses unchecked emotions to build all of the characters. Like lizard boy "me want to smash". The only one built with some restraint is the Madame. A mother hen to a group of reactionary adults with stunted emotional skills.
This novel tried too hard to blend rampant emotion as a catalyst for conflict. It is an "Aw shucks, we don't want to hurt nobody important, but if they bring it......". The other portion of the world building that made no sense was that the Imperium has two hierarchies within: black Knights and the Clerisy and the Imperium that are walking lockstep, but operate distinctly different policies. Like how does the Grand Paladin operate external to the Imperiums dictates but is largely unopposed and honored in rank? Add in the Raven terrorists and you will be confused. This would have been way more believable if General Yeth was operating in a clandestine manner while aiding a desperate band of relic weilding Coalitionists. What we get is a too large group that tromps around the country side, living the high life in castles while being escorted to and fro in an Imperium ship. Huh?
Add in the juvenile exchanges and you have a novel that rears it's ugly YA head. Since the author and I are good friends (not really, never met him) and that I was wholly entertained the whole time, a 4-stars I will go. I miss the days of the treasure hunting quests.

I stumbled across this series just by chance and the neo style fantasy adventure appealed to the millennial gamer in me. Where the series ends up taking you, however, is a whole other story. The first entry takes you in and coddles the fantasy adventurer in you but switches gears and opens up a much darker and dire story.
Brett does a great job at taking a character and giving it purpose. The characters and the chemistry really make the reading experience fun. There are characters of all dynamics that appeal to a wide variety of personalities.
Endless Frontier: The Winterlands marches you onto the battlefield and the stakes have never been higher. Adventure and treasure takes a backseat to something powerful and ancient and waiting. I absolutely love this series and the images it creates while reading. The illustrations and original art provided are just stunning and the aesthetic bleeds passion for the project. A lot of love has been put into this series. It's hard to write a review without spoilers but this is a series you should experience yourself. The next entry can't possibly come soon enough and I can firmly say that I'm an Endless Frontier fan for life!!

The Endless Frontier series has been great to read so far, and The Winterlands keeps it going strong. As with the previous books, the characters are well developed and the world building is top tier. The story itself is deeply engrossing and kept me turning pages as I constantly needed to know what happened next. The story continues to be a unique blend of western, scifi and fantasy that works surprisingly well. If you've enjoyed the previous books in the series, you should really enjoy this one. New readers should be sure to start with the first book.

Another adventurous story by Brett! This one was quite exciting with several battles, and I’d have to say my favorite part was his introduction of the wizard (he was so fun to read about lol). Great story, if you enjoyed his previous work this one is also fantastic!
