“It’s not me you should be afraid of. It’s my wife.”
Though she’s found her affinity weapon, Ira has never felt further from understanding her prophesied destiny—especially when torn between two men who are tethered to her very soul. While one acts as though he wants nothing to do with her, the other is too perfect for her to bear.
Ira somehow finds herself stuck traveling with both of them as she ventures on a mission that could very well be her final chance to prove that she’s worthy of the fate she’s been given.
Forced to play the twisted games at the High Born masquerade ball, Ira soon discovers that nothing is as it seems, leaving her with one terrifying truth. The fate that’s been tattooed into the essence of her being is far more dangerous than she could have ever imagined.
Maggie has dreamed of being an author since she first brought pen to paper and let her imagination run wild. When she’s not reading or writing, she usually has a case of the travel bug, and loves exploring new countries (which tends to bring a new round of inspiration to her writing). She has always been an avid believer that reading gives you the opportunity to escape the real world and fall into an entirely new one, which might be why she loves fantasy so much. She resides in Illinois with her husband, Alec, baby girl, and pup, Denali (who has rightfully earned the nickname Bad Dog D).
I loved this book so much. The push and pull. The angst. The plot twists. The friendships. The found family. The setting. Ahh, I just loved every second of it.
This love triangle is going to be the end of me😫
This series is definitely becoming one of my favourites. I'm so attached to these characters😭
Maggie lynn is definitely in my top 10 authors because every single book she writes is amazing!!
If you haven't already, please give this series a chance because you won't regret it.
“I fear that you might truly be the thing in this life that obliterates me.”
Thank you so much, Maggie Lynn, for the ARC copy❤️
“You can lie to yourself all you want Iradessa, but I know it was me you were thinking about when you f*ked him the other night. I could feel you.” 🥵
My favorite book in the Marked Series so far!! Maggie’s books are so bingeable and easy to read that I simply could not put it down.
Tropes in this book: •Love Triangle •”My Wife” •One Horse •Masquerade Ball •Fake Marriage •Found Family •One Bed
The love triangle comes to a boiling point in this book which will make you want to scream because both Kaiden and Archer are good men. The spoiler at the end of Scarred By History (book 2) makes the love triangle such a delicate situation. Ira cannot help her feelings for either man, and that doesn’t ease Kaiden’s nerves one bit.
I loved seeing Kaiden toe this line of supporting Ira and loving her through difficult moments, but also setting boundaries for himself. I love Kaiden and I’m so sorry for having a preference and that preference is not Kaiden. I want to protect his feelings so much and want someone to choose him one day, but I went into this book hoping that someone will not be Ira.
Kaiden and Ira’s relationship feels like a young relationship with pure adoration for each other that eventually runs its course. It’s what happens when having love for each other isn’t enough which for their age feels so relatable.
Archer steps in as the man who challenges Ira and maybe isn’t the person who Ira wants but is the man she needs in this next phase of life.
The chemistry between Archer and Ira gets so smoking hot in this book I was practically panting. Since I was beta reading all I could do was take a cold shower and keep what I was reading to myself. I absolutely loved how the games force Ira and Archer to become more intimate with each other. We get to see such a softer side to Archer in some moments and some wildly attractive possessive and protective sides to him.
“Because what I will do if you ever lay a hand on my wife again, is leave you alone in a room with her.” 🔥 this man stands up for her but also knows when to pull back and remind these chauvinistic pigs just how powerful and strong she is. I love that balance with Archer.
We are starting to pull back the layers with Archer and I’m loving what we are seeing. He encourages Ira to grow and I am loving rooting for her.
I am already eagerly waiting for book four and cannot wait for everyone to read Tattooed By Fate!
5 ⭐️ absolutely binged through this in just a couple of days because it was that good!
some of my favorite things: ✨ found family ⚔️ castle and ballroom scenes ✨ love triangle ⚔️ prophecies, quests, and yearning!! ✨ “my wife”, one horse, and one bed tropes
the tension between ira, kaiden, and archer is INSANE and i was eating it up! i have always loved kaiden (and was kinda hoping for a why choose) but i think archer has completely won me over now
so happy we are finally seeing some softer sides of archer, while we still see his snarky and broody banter with ira as well 🥺 the mission in the castle was definitely my favorite part of this one!!
this is by far my favorite in the series and i absolutely can’t wait to see where it goes. so proud of maggie and how she has cultivated such a beautiful world with characters i adore 🤍
Wow what an action packed ending! I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this book and it did not disappoint. This book really had my attention the entire time, I feel invested in so many character! The unique magic system is so fun and the way Maggie writes a love triangle is 👌🏼 my only complaint is having to wait now for book four. I’m really happy I found this series!
Tattooed by Fate Maggie Lynn 3.5 stars (rounded up to four for goodreads rating system)
Thank you for the opportunity to ARC read this book!
Tattooed by Fate picks up right where the story left off and thank GOD because after finishing Scarred by History I was ITCHING to get my hands on this book! So thank you thank you thank you for selecting me to ARC read this book!
What was the most anticipated aspect of this book for me? The love triangle of course!! I’ve read plenty of love triangle books, but I haven't read one quite like this! Most of the time there seems to be a clear favorite (and we all know Archer is the clear favorite because I don’t know that anyone would choose Kaiden at this point - not that I don’t love him too! But like Archer…) but Maggie manages to make the struggle last longer and feel more real than I’ve read in other books. Granted, this could be because they are both on equal footing by being soul bonded to Ira and have a genuine connection to her, but I also want to think that it’s the way all the characters interact. On that note though, because of the way the love triangle is set up in this book, I found myself liking Ira less and less as the story progressed and she hopped between the two guys. It felt like she was dragging them both along which felt icky. Kinda similar to that, Kaiden kinda fell off for me as his character seems to kinda jerk between different feelings which don’t align so much with his character as he’s been written so far. But I will say…it does add to the turmoil Ira feels which I like :)
BUT!!!
The tension between Ira and Archer?!? **Chef’s Kiss** I like Archer so much more than I like Ira in this relationship and so I LOVED when he got soft and mushy gushy! Ugh Archer is such a cutey I almost want Kaiden to be Ira’s endgame so that Archer is available! The delayed satisfaction and tension of their relationship is peak which means I hated it because I’m not good at waiting and why can’t they just kiss already?! But seriously though, for as much as Ira makes me pause, the way that Archer and Ira’s relationship is being built is pretty well done and I’m curious to see where it goes from here.
On the topic of relationships… I want to shout my love for Constance and Nela because those two are actually the best characters in the book and I would not be mad if they became the star of the show and we never saw Ira or the others again! Give me a whole book about Constance and Nela PLEASE! I deeply appreciate all the side characters as I think they make this book and series better. I’ve been a big fan of Thameus in the past but Emery just surpassed him on the list with her appearance in this book (though it was always a close call!)
I appreciate that this book doesn’t have as many flashbacks and dreams as the first two in the series; the amount that there are doesn’t feel as invasive and I don’t feel that I’m reading the same thing over and over again. Overall, I liked this book enough that I want to read the next book, but Tattooed by Fate did feel too long for how little plot progression there was. This book lacked some of the urgency I would expect this far into the storyline and there is no real interaction with the enemy. The story felt smaller almost (not sure how to describe it but the characters felt isolated from the rest of the world even though they travel? This may be because I am less familiar with the whole layout of the world as we don’t hear about it too much as well as what’s happening in other places and how it relates to Ira. We do get some of this but maybe not enough in this specific book? Not sure if that makes sense and it’s quite possible just me who thinks this). Because only two main events happen within the story, I found this book harder to get into. With the others in the series I read them quite fast, but with this one there wasn't a time where I sat down and read for longer than an hour because I couldn’t get into it. These are the main reasons I rated the book how I did, but this does NOT take away from the fact that I enjoyed reading this book and want to continue reading the series! That being said… I did read the last 15% of the book lickidy split, like I think my kindle was impressed by how fast I was reading and devouring the final pages!
This book is easy to read as are all of Maggie Lynn's books! It's easy to follow and easy to enjoy! Also, I forgot to mention, but in this book we get even more of the magic system which is epic (I mean who doesn't love an intriguing magic system??) Overall I’m glad I read this book and continued with Ira on her journey!
Thank you again for the opportunity to ARC read this book!
✨ Tropes & Vibes: 🗡️ Love Triangle 💍 “My Wife” Trope ⚔️ Fated Mates 🏰 Castle Politics 🎭 Masquerade Ball 🔥 New Adult Fantasy Romance 🖤 Push & Pull Tension 🔮 Prophecy & Destiny 😳 Sexual Awakening
Before anything else, I want to say how excited I am for Maggie Lynn and the release of this book. She is genuinely the most wonderfully sweet person, and I’m incredibly grateful to have received an ARC and the opportunity to review her work.
I REALLY ENJOYED her standalone Beauty and the Beast retelling, so naturally when I was asked if I would read the arc for this book I was extremely excited! That being said, I completed all three in the series this month.
In Tattooed by Fate, Ira is finally beginning to step into the destiny that’s been hanging over her since the beginning of the series. As she travels to the High Born castle, she’s forced to navigate dangerous politics, a masquerade filled with secrets, and the complicated relationships tying her to both Kaiden and Archer. Along the way, she discovers that fate may be far more dangerous than she ever imagined.
I really wanted to love this one more than I did… PLZ don’t hate me! I’m trying to give my opinion in the most thoughtful way 🥹🫶🏽
One thing I absolutely loved was getting so much more Archer in this book! He continues to be my favorite MMC in this love triangle, and every scene with him had me paying attention 👀 The tension between him and Ira, the constant push and pull, and all the unanswered questions them were honestly some of my favorite parts of the story. I can see so much potential for where their relationship could go.
That said, this book didn’t completely work for me.
One of my biggest struggles was the sheer amount of spice. After what felt like a slower build over the first two books, it felt like we went from slow burn to a full-on sex marathon 🤭 I swear every time I looked up there was another intimate scene right around the corner with her and Kaiden. I understand this is New Adult fantasy romance and that those scenes have their place, but for me it started to feel repetitive and pulled focus away from the plot. I found myself wanting more character development, more world-building, and more answers instead.
I was also surprised by how Kaiden was handled in this book. For so long he has felt like Ira’s entire world, but once she arrived did arrive at the castle it felt like he almost faded into the background a bit. Considering how central their relationship has been to the story, that shift felt strange to me and left me wondering where some of that emotional connection had gone. But in some ways, because of all of the intimacy in the beginning of the book… it was almost a bit refreshing.
However, we were later introduced to sexual parties and swinging culture at the castle. I kept waiting for those scenes and details to tie into the larger story in a meaningful way, but I never fully understood their purpose. Combined with some of the kingdom’s rules regarding women and relationships, I found myself confused more than once. I kept asking myself how these social expectations were supposed to fit together because some of it felt contradictory, and I struggled to understand the logic behind it. Again, it just felt like a lot of sex if I’m being honest 😭 I don’t mind spicy scenes, in fact, I read a lot of books with spice, but I just really had trouble with it working towards the plot.
I also want to talk about the “my wife” trope? Because when I saw that listed, I genuinely thought somebody was getting married. The transition from siblings to “husband and wife” was funny and I enjoyed seeing that play out.
I think that’s where my overall feelings land with this one. There are pieces here that I really enjoyed… especially Archer, the court intrigue, and the mystery surrounding Ira’s fate BUT I spent a lot of the book feeling disconnected from some of the choices being made. I kept waiting for everything to click together, and it never quite did for me. I’m not sure if it’s because the book reads younger, being its a new adult Romantasy… or because I genuinely could not connect to the characters the way I craved.
And then that ending happened. 🤯
I originally thought this series was a trilogy, so imagine my surprise when I hit that cliffhanger and realized we are absolutely not done yet. There are still so many unanswered questions, and despite my frustrations, I’m curious to see where Maggie takes these characters next!
4.5 stars but I am rounding up to 5! I am so grateful to be allowed the opportunity to read this book prior to the release. This is not my normal genre, but I loved diving into the world that Maggie created.
As promoted, Tattooed by Fate goes heavy into the love triangle. Kaiden continues to be the idyllic partner, while Archer is the “bad book boyfriend” that makes you bite your finger and say, “Not no. Maybe yes. Yes. Ok and I need more of you now.” Love triangles are not my favorite trope, but I think this adds to the story. Ira has decided that in this lifetime, she makes her own decisions. Her past lives and current one have conflicting needs and desires, making her love life complicated.
Ira continues to show her "Insuperiority Complex.” A lot of expectations were placed on her with no option of failure. She has some self hatred, which led me towards some frustration towards her character as well. One quote made me stop that train of thought and became my favorite of the book:
“Why are you so quick to discredit the amazing feats you’ve overcome? You’re choosing to only see the negative in everything you’ve accomplished.”
Maybe this quote spoke to my own perfectionism. So many people give others more grace than they allow themselves, and it made me see a little of myself in Ira.
What I feel like I needed more in this book was Nela and Constance. In real life, sometimes the most important relationships are with our friends. The friendship dynamic should change in book 4, and I cannot wait to read it!
Very eager to read Book 4 and cannot wait for it to be released!
I wanna start off by saying thank you to Maggie and the team or allowing me the chance to be a ARC reader for this book! It was a huge privilege and forever grateful for it!
Release date is: May 28th, 2026
Tropes: -Love Triangle - “My Wife” - Only One Horse - Masquerade -Royal Games
Out of the entire Marked Series by Maggie, this one has to be my favorite. Her books are all very binge worthy but this one just was too tier!!!
This book just kept you wanting more and was always more to uncover and figure out!
The main female character Iradessa is in a little love triangle with two MMC’s. Both of the MMC’s are such good men which makes it really hard for Ira.
I love the way that Kaiden is always there for Ira in the times she’s weak but also like that he knows his worth and what he deserves too!
As well as Archer who pushes Ira and helps her become stronger! The banter between them and tension is great!
Favorite quote: 🥵🥵
“You can lie to yourself all you want Iradessa, but I know it was me you were thinking about when you f****ed him the other night. I could feel you. “ 🥵🥵
First of all: I very much appreciated how there was a recap at the beginning of the book. More authors should take note!
Reading Tattooed by Fate was like getting a nice warm hug from all of the characters I missed so much since reading the first two books. There was also of course the kicking of feet, squeals (“My wife.”), anticipation (so much anticipation), and yes even tears.
Maggie has a way of writing that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the book alongside the characters as it is happening. I felt like I was in the castle with Ira and Archer… getting the ick from the games and outdated beliefs of women in the area they were located… same as them.
I freaking loved this book. Sign me up for lavish dresses and a masquerade ball please (just minus the games 😆).
Plus that ending? Ahhhh. I’m ready for the next book. I know it will be worth the wait though. SO good! 💙
4.5 stars ⭐️ Thank you so much Maggie for allowing me to ARC read. I deeply loved the second book so I had no doubts that I would love this installment as well. Archer has my whole heart what can I say. The story continues to grow and the world building and lore is only becoming deeper. I continue to be at the edge of my seat with that ending and am eager to see where another 4 BOOKS will take my dear Archer and Ira 😭 and the rest of the lovely crew.
Absolutely give this one a read for more tension, political scheming, and learning more about the mysteries revolving our main characters. The only reason it was 4.5 and not 5 for me was because I wanted the plot to progress moreee than it did but seeing as its a 7 book series I can understand why maybe it hasn’t yet.
I couldn’t read this fast enough. The day it hit my inbox, I read it in one sitting. As soon as I finished, I wanted to reread it all over again! This is part 3 of the marked series, and holy heck is it good.
First one all, Nela is still an absolute gem and a true highlight of this book. One of my favorite side characters and we find out a bit more about his background in this book. Second, Archer. I’m absolutely gone for him. Idk what book four is going to hold, but man was I kicking my feet and squealing for this man.
Please read this book/series. And Maggie’s other book. She’s one of my absolute favorite authors!!
Thank you so so much for this ARC copy it was such a pleasure reading this ❤️ I loved the development of this story, especially because I felt like the first book was primarily Kaiden and now we get to develop the relationship specifically with Archer. The banter and the yearning is to die for. The ball and all the different nights and activities with it were so well done and I really enjoyed the character development throughout the story. I can’t wait to see where this continues to go!
Book Tropes: - Love Triangle - Masquerade - Found Family - Quest/adventure - “My Wife” - Open door spice - Royal Games - One Bed/One Horse
“You deserve to have love freely given to you. Not everything has to have a price or needs to be earned.”
I think this is my favourite in the series so far! I love Maggie’s writing and I honestly couldn’t put it down.
The love triangle from book 2 only seems to get more tense during this book. While I originally was a big Kaiden fan, I have now moved to team Archer 🤭 this man had me sweating 🥵 the words that came out of his mouth. I loved how their connection grew while at the masquerade ball and I’m dying for book 4 now
Once again, Maggie doesn’t miss in another fun installment! I fear that my reviews are going to continue to simp over Archer, but I simply love him. I’m obsessed with him and Ira’s relationship/friendship. While I’ve enjoyed every book in the series, this one has to be my favorite thus far. I can’t wait to see where Maggie continues to take the story… Especially after that ending!!! Congrats on another release. Thank you for allowing me read this as an ARC!
This book series keeps getting better and better! I cannot wait for the next books to come out. I ate this up!!!! I recommend to anyone who love fantasy, romance, suspense and a love triangle with a great story to back it all up
I did enjoy this book but I was hoping for a little more between the MC. I’ll still be continuing on because I do love this series as a whole! I know who I’m rooting for at the end!!
