Apartment 214: Hallways Talk Series

Rate this book
Konika “Koko” Holiday doesn’t remember much about the life she used to live. All she knows is that when she opened her eyes, the world she once knew was gone, and so was everyone in it.

After months of sleeping in her car, she’s finally able to start over in Apartment 214. It’s supposed to be a fresh start, a new beginning, but on the day she moves in, Booda walks back into her life.

And unlike everything else, she remembers him. He was once the love of her life.

With his help, the missing pieces start coming together. She begins to remember who she was, what she had, and what was done to her.

Each memory feeds her need for payback, until there is nothing left to do but settle the debt. And she intends to collect in full.

What follows is bloody, hectic, and aimed at everyone who thought they could take what belonged to her and laugh about it.

They should have finished what they started.

Not gonna lie! Mesha Mesh had me at the trigger warnings lol. The crazier they are, the better time I’m probably going to have. I definitely loved KoKo the FMC in this story! This was one that I kept trying to figure out, but couldn’t quite grasp what was happening, and I mean that in the best way possible. The last 20% of this story was all gas and no brake, as the secrets were revealed and the truth unfolded. I definitely didn’t trust these characters, I was team KoKo 100% and we just simply didn’t know who was for her and who was against her! Definitely a wild ride!

This book was extremely well written and the story kept me interested but it was also predictable. I almost wish there were less little hints so that the final reveal would’ve been a shock. It also ended a bit abruptly. Despite that, it was a good book.

3.5 stars rounded up.

So unfortunately I saw a spoiler because someone didn't hide it and it pretty much ruined the rest of the book for me since it was the whole plot of the book. However I did enjoy the writing style and how the reveal was done.

I was rooting for Koko the whole time and loved the way it ended. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Memory loss and revenge? Sign me up immediately. This book was well written and kept me guessing from start to finish. Every time the FMC would remember details about the past, I started to not trust anyone. I live a fast paced, twisty thriller and this one hits the mark! The ending!!!!!

Don’t wonder if you should read it, read it now!

This book was a true thriller that had me sat. I felt so bad for Koko having amnesia, but once she got her memory back, it was on. She lived by the definition get it back in blood. There were 2 twists that I didn't see coming, and I was pleasantly surprised. Here's to hoping we get a part two of Koko getting her HEA because it is well deserved.

Koko is trying to put her life back together, but there’s one major problem…she can barely remember the life she had before.
After going through a rough period and losing almost everything, Apartment 214 is supposed to be her chance to finally start over. But just as she’s settling into her new life, someone from her past unexpectedly shows back up. He’s one of the few things Koko actually remembers, and his return starts bringing pieces of her past back with him. The more she remembers, the more she realizes there’s A LOT about her old life that she doesn’t know. Now Koko has to figure out what really happened to her, who she can trust, and what she’s going to do once all those missing pieces start coming together.
••
This was a quick thriller that had me hooked until the very end. The beginning was a little chaotic, but the story was well written. Though some parts of the story were a little predictable, I DID NOT see the ending coming. Mouth was on the floor. This is the first time I’ve read a book by this author and I plan on reading more. Perfect mix of urban fiction and thriller.

In YOUR MF BAG!

So glad to see this story finally come together! All the late nights, the revising, the subtracting and adding — and the whole time I knew you had it in you. Mesh is really in her bag when it comes to this thriller ish! And Koko? Whew. She was THAT bish from beginning to end! I honestly never would’ve expected that ending, but every single piece came together like a perfect work of art.

Amazing job once again! I can’t wait to see what else you pull out of your thriller bag!

Meshaaaaaaa, the hallways were definitely talking. This book was exactly what I needed after being in a reading slump. Watching the pieces of Koko's past slowly come together while the truth unraveled had me STRESSED. Once Koko started getting her memories back, baby she was coming to collect.
I loved all the plots and twists, and the ending definitely caught me by surprise.

At this point, Mesha Mesh has officially entered my auto-read author era because she simply does not miss.

Apartment 214 delivered everything I’ve come to expect from a Mesha Mesh thriller and then some. This story was packed with revenge, betrayal, shocking revelations, and one jaw-dropping plot twist after another. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, the rug was snatched right from under me.

One of my favorite elements was the memory loss aspect woven throughout the story. It kept me questioning everything and made the tension feel that much more intense. And can we talk about the female main character??? Because we absolutely love an FMC who gets her lick back. 👏🏻

The drama was drama-ing, the secrets were secret-ing, and the twists had me glued to the pages. If you’re looking for a fast-paced thriller filled with messy betrayals, revenge, and plenty of “WAIT…WHAT?!” moments, add Apartment 214 to your TBR immediately.

Mesha Mesh continues to prove why she’s one of my favorite thriller authors, and this was an easy 5-star read for me

You Didn’t Have To Do This Mesha!

I wasn’t ready. In no kind of way was I ready for this journey here. Koko had such a hard journey since she opened her eyes from her coma. But how? She was able to make the necessary moves to get at those who had wronged her. She was on her own and the same people if not more wanted her gone. All she wanted was to piece her life with just some sort of normalcy and peace. The migraines, the visions and still constant betrayal wouldn’t let it be so. The love Tink had developed and shown to her along with Miss Mary was all she had left. Tink tried to save her. He saw her spiraling but didn’t understand the magnitude. Koko held that locket, which was all she had left to hold of Booda, and told Miss Mary the decision that sealed her fate. At least for the next twenty years or so. Maybe then she’ll finally be able to find peace. I was so invested and hurt. Now, that’s a strong bond in love.

“I may not remember everything about my past, but I’m still that bitch.”

If you are looking for a new domestic thriller to add to your TBR then this may be your next read.

-cutthroat FMC
-“who can you trust?”
-extreme paranoia
-“getting your lick back” revenge
-life after memory loss
-violence, murder & chaos
-found family & friendship
-relatable characters
-soft spice
-under 300 pages
-check your TW’s

This was a chaotic blend of urban fiction and thrill. I was hooked strictly from the the synopsis. The story snatches you in immediately and doesn’t let you go until the very end.

The FMC Koko was really going through it. She is a character that I am going to stick beside whether she’s right or wrong.

Mesha Mesh has done it again!
If she’s writing it, I’m reading it.

I’m not ok…

This story has so much drama and suspense I almost had an eye whiplash reading to it.

I believed it all but knew there was a reason Koko AKA Ms. Phuck Around And Find Out was the aggressor, the leader, the murker, the shot caller, the shoota, the shit talker that didn’t take crap from anyone and stood 20 toes down for her ninja, now I know what it was. The ending summed it up with an unexpected, unsettling, sympathetic mind blowing but justifiable revelation that rocked my brain and had my heart in shambles, like can a heart cry!

If you are looking for a story that takes you through hell and back with suspense, revenge, psychological thrill, DGAF ride or die Queen Pin who is not to be played with with a little romance, this book is it.

I didn't know what was going on, and the person that I suspected first it wasn't even them.

KoKo wakes up from a coma in the hospital, winds up being homeless and then she eventually gets her first apartment since the accident and it's in Apartment 214. Just when she's trying to piece together her life, her love Booda pops up. And he's doing everything in his power to get her to remember the person she used to me, all while she is trying to forget that person and move on. The twists and turns that took place in the book had me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed.

First read by this author and I definitely will be checking out more.

Enjoyed this

This is the first book by this author that I have read and I can say I enjoyed it

I’m normally a romance girl, but needed a pallet cleanser this did trick for me. The suspense was really good in here and until about 70% I didn’t know what was gone happen

I wasn’t surprised about Giani because everybody was weird except Tink lol

I didn’t enjoy when the author would repeat the beginning chapters not just a little “like pretty much whole page so you end up reading stuff twice and I do feel like the ending was underwhelming

Overall, I will give this a 3.5/5

Mental illness

This book was really good better than I expected. It started off with tragedy but what came next fooled me. Booda was there making Coco get the revenge he couldn’t. After months of being in the hospital she awakened to nothing literally. However with the help of loved ones she slowly started to bounce back. However remembering why her life was what it was caused a rift that no one saw coming. Great book

Threads brought me here. Mesha Mesh was promoting her book and baby, I was intrigued. I’ve never read a story quite like this one before. Memory loss and revenge, waking up, not remembering yourself, only going off muscle memory and fate memories, there was no telling what twist and turns were coming.
At no point did I predict the ending, I was rooting for my girl to turn another leaf, and poor Booda.

Apartment 214 by Mesha Mesh definitely surprised me. The plot twist was much better than I expected and completely changed how I looked at the story. One of the biggest takeaways was the reminder that not everyone who calls themselves your friend truly wants to see you win. Jealousy can make people betray you in ways you never imagined. If you enjoy fast-paced thrillers with drama, deception, and a satisfying twist, this is a solid read.

What did I just read

Oh I didnt see that ending coming KoKo been thru alot. Terrible accident left her in a coma and severe memory loss. While trying to piece together hel life she discovers the truth and it was not what she expected at all...the pacing was good the characters felt so real im sitting here stuck. Great read I will definitely recommend.

Loved the style Not the story

Didn’t like it. I enjoyed the writing style, but the overall story, no. The repetition of details and emphasis on others clued me in to the fact that he was only living in her reality and I think that made me uncomfortable continuing. But I finished it.

You had love

Sometimes in life, we think the things that are not there. The Love we have is harder to break and share but when you love unconditionally, it can make you lose your mind. That’s exactly what she did. If you haven’t read this book get it. It’s a great read it makes you understand life

This is definitely a good read, a must read short story, wow the end of the book caught me off guard , at the ended the mind was definitely playing tricks on koko, but all her enemies definitely suffer and they paid the price for thinking they had one up on her, Coco definitely showed them🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦.

Apartment 214

I just want to know what no one said anything but as I think about it I know why. Baby was out knocking people off amd taking names later. All the stuff she said she did with him was just crazy. I didn't expect the ending but then I kept wondering why he never told her what happened the night of the accident. Overall good book

Whoaaaa talk about a plot twist! This book reminded me how deep brain trauma can go. Believing something that wasn’t there bc love ran so deep. No matter what traumatic situation you’re in, you have to always watch your back. Her friend was just insane as she was. I’ve never witnessed jealousy running so deep. Whole time I thought Booda was still alive. Glad his mother gave her the truth at the end.
