ARC READ: Allie has blown my expectations and dreams for Neressa’s story out of the water…pun intended haha. For those who haven’t read Sirens Cove, go read the book and then come back to my review. I didn’t think the world of Allie Belle could get better after her debut novel, but man I was wrong. She is a genius when it comes to pirate stories and the twists that are in Slayer are out of this world. Without giving any spoilers to the book, Roman is my favorite and Ness is the most baddie independent queen around. She needs no man and nobody can ever get in her way and live the tell the tell. She is strong and the embodiment of bad ass. I am so honored to have met Ness and the whole crew of this series. This book kept me going for the past few weeks as I’ve been working through my first semester of law school and i couldn’t have asked for a better lifeline than Allie and her wickedly cool stories. This book is for those who are fans of Assassin’s Creed, Pirates of the Caribbean, Fourth wing but as a school for bounty hunters and spies, Quicksilver and Of course Slayers predecessor Sirens Cove. Please go check out this book and everything else that Allie writes. She is an auto buy for me and she will be the next big thing!!!!

I’m so honored to be part of Allie’s street team, and I was SO excited to finally dive into Neressa’s story! My expectations were absolutely blown away.
Slayer felt like a complete 180 compared to Siren’s Cove! There’s so much more emotional depth, so many more characters to fall in love with, and SO much more to uncover. Of course, seeing the mentions of Mira and Kai had me reminiscing a little, too. 🥹
And OF COURSE, I couldn’t get ENOUGH of Allie’s incredible, deliciously descriptive writing! The way she brings the world of Magda to life had me completely immersed as if I never left. Every character has so much more to them than meets the eye, and I loved getting to discover all these new layers.
But my favorite part of this book was learning more about Neressa, her history, and everything she’s capable of. Watching her story unfold made me feel so much, and the more I read, the more pride I felt in seeing what my good friend has created. 🖤
I also found myself seeing more of Allie in her characters, and that made this reading experience feel even more special to me.

Arc reader. Honestly the most insane set up, gave my SJM vibes not gonna lie. Neressa is a bad ass independent hybrid assassin/siren/shifter. The story line has so much potential for more books and I am excited to see where the author goes. There is love, revenge, and a whole lot of questions!

I was SO lucky to get to read Slayer early - I still haven't fully recovered from the highs & the heartbreak!
Allie Belle's writing is genius — every description of the characters, the town & the sea is rendered with such stunning detail, and the characters are sharp & witty. I totally forgot I was reading & just flew through the pages. The pacing is fast, with plot twists & surprises. I couldn't put it down & had to finish within the same day!
The characters are what stayed with me most - heartwarming & heartbreaking in equal measure, I could read about their adventures & interactions all day long.
Neressa's journey out of Slayer's Academy and into who she becomes is such a powerful arc, full of deep & emotional moments that hit hard & keep you hooked. And I adored getting to see the depth of Bleu as a father shaped by grief and mistakes, and his backstory adds so much weight to everything in Book 1 & everything that follows.
This is a series that is so under my skin - I can't wait for the next one!

Oh I enjoyed this one so much. Allie writes fast paced books that grip you from the very first page. Her worlds are so easy to fall into and I have a very hard time putting her books down.
When a political conspiracy forces her into an alliance with a Prince, from the Royal Family she loathes, Neressa is drawn into a building war fuelled by ancient magic. Hunted by many, she must face both those who threaten the kingdom and the darkness that growing within her. Will her thirst for vengeance threaten everything that she has left to protect?
Neressa is a charcter that has come to mean so much to me. She is strong and fierce but still has a kind heart (but a very well guarded one) despite the darkness she was raised in. This is a woman who has had so many hardships handed to her throughout her life and her strength never waivers. She refuses to be at anybody’s mercy and has a hard time allowing herself to love and let people in, after being taught that to love is weak, but in her own way she manages. Those she keeps close never demand more from her. They simply allow her to be who she is and stand by her side through it all.
It was an emotional read, for a character so reserved she has so much love around her and each relationship is such a beautiful one in its own, unique way. Saying this, I loved how Neressa’s story wasn’t solely focused on a love interest (though we love him), it was about her own growth and doing what needed to be done in order to help make the world a better place. She had her own path and her own story that she needed to navigate herself.
I cannot wait to see what comes next for Neressa, especially after the ending. I’m so excited to see more of her and the relationship that is forming for her. I just know she’s going to be even more formidable in book 2 and I don’t think the world is ready for her. She is a queen in her own right who will change the world.

The way that Allie can get me hooked immediately from the start of the story is one of my favorite things about her writing. Let me tell you, Slayer was no exception to that!
This story is essentially a prequel to Sirens Cove in The Sirenborne Chronicles.
We follow our FMC Neressa’s story that is gut wrenchingly raw and emotional. The fact that I was so attached to these characters by 35% and crying my eyes out over them should tell you more than enough.

If you loved Throne of Glass, you're going to LOVE this! It is action-packed with a great cast of characters and an interesting world that is still easy to follow. Our FMC Neressa is ICONIC - tough as nails but has such a big heart and the best witty banter. I have no doubt she and Celaena Sardothien would be besties. For anyone like me who adored The Assassin's Blade and was destroyed by it and left wanting more, this will genuinely fill that gap for you. The political power struggle, the magical intrigue, the devastating romance??? I am obsessed.
All that being said, I do not in anyway want to discredit this fantastic story by letting the comparisons outshine it. It was so well written and the pacing was perfect. It was fast but in no way rushed, and I was immersed fully as we continued through the story. I'm aware that both Sirens Cove (book one in The Sirenborne Chronicles) and Slayer were designed to be read in any order, so I am really excited to pick it up and continue exploring this world. You put assassins, pirates, shifters AND sirens into the same series? You've won me over.
I absolutely flew through this book and the only reason I haven't rated it a full 5 stars is purely because how DARE you end the book like that?! Tugging on my heartstrings and then leave me out to dry? I'm upset (BIG compliment).

Yet another amazing read from Allie! In Sirens Cove, we had a glimpse of Neressa, and I’m so glad we got a dive into her story. In Slayer, we see Neressa become the woman we meet in Sirens Cove. Through loss, pain and scheming, she becomes a force to be reckoned with. An unstoppable force that no one dares stand up against. Once again, the world building is excellent. I loved the details, especially surrounding the library. I must visit it one day (if I don’t get slain first).
Like Sirens Cove, Slayer doesn’t let you come up for air (pardon the pun). The pacing allows my brain to just plough through the pages until suddenly, the last page has crept up on me. There were little to no lull periods for my brain to begin wandering off elsewhere. I loved the introduction of Roman, it was a nice twist that I didn’t see coming. The story just connected with me, it fed my soul. The spice was at just the right level too, right place, right time.
I’d love to see more of Neressa in the future, I feel like her story could carry on forever. Thinking about it, I feel the same about Mira too. They’re just amazing FMC’s. Overall, Slayer gets 5 stars, I’m excited to see where Allie takes us next.

Arc read!! Allie it was so good!!! I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I love Roman! Neressa deserves the world and I can’t wait to see her story unfold. Nessa gives off a vibe of Celeana from throne of glass. This book made me feel grief, love, heartbreak and curiosity! Slayer was full of deep emotional moments but also made me proud of how badass Ness is. I’ll be patiently or not so patiently waiting for the next book. 🫶🏼

Slayer is a dark romantasy taking place in a pirate town, with focus on the slayer academy. Neressa, our FMC, is the only one to make it out of the assassin academy alive.🗡️
Neressa quickly became one of my favorite FMCs I’ve ever read. She truly has Manon x Celaena energy, and that’s a perfect recipe for my ideal kind of main character. She continues to show up, and battle through all life has to throw at her to protect what she loves.❤️🔥
Her story as we know it, is just beginning. I already relate so heavily to all of her internal, emotional wounds; ruthlessness meets compassion, but never underestimate Neressa.👏🏼
The romance, the tension, the banter in this book had me giggling and kicking my feet, which was a great reprieve from some of the heavier topics. The sloowwwww burn will absolutely have you chomping at the bit.🤭
Allie’s writing has grown tremendously since Sirens Cove, and it’s still one of my favorite books of the year, but Slayer truly takes the cake for favorite indie pub in 2026. She’s really stepped into herself as an author, which is a beautiful parallel to Neressa’s growth in this book. I really can’t wait to see how Neressa’s story, and Allie’s writing continues to develop in the rest of the series!🫶🏼

My very first ARC read, and it did not disappoint!
Allie Belle takes you on another amazing journey, and its one you will never forget. There are so many twists and turns! I genuinely enjoyed reading about Neressa’s story, and I loved that she’s such a strong character.
I only rated it a 4 because I’m greedy and want more! I will be tuning in for the next edition!

Allie Belle takes you on another amazing journey, and its one you will never forget. There are so many twists and turns! I genuinely enjoyed reading about Neressa’s story, and I loved that she’s such a strong character.
I only rated it a 4 because I’m greedy and want more! I will be tuning in for the next edition!

I want to start this review by saying that I have NOT yet read Sirens Cove. When I got the opportunity to read Slayer early, I planned on reading Sirens Cove first, but I ultimately decided not to. Did I possibly miss out on some easter eggs or plot line? Probably. Did it make Slayer any less enjoyable or impactful? Absolutely not.

Slayer had me hooked within the first few chapters. I absolutely LOVED diving into a world with pirates, sirens, and more magical beings. Neressa was easy to like and as the story continued, she became one of my favorite FMCs and has the most beautiful character arc. Her story is so impactful in so many ways, and if you want to feel feminine rage in the best way, you HAVE to read this. This book has romance but it’s not necessarily the focal point of the whole story and I enjoy that in my books! This is a high fantasy, high stakes, and it will make you emotional. I love how this story unfolded and I cannot wait to continue reading about this world.

I loved Maddoc and I absolutely got my heart ripped out multiple times. BUT… I loved it. I am so sick and tired of all the main characters somehow surviving EVERYTHING. I want to cry when I read, I want to feel something!!! Maddoc’s death was so important to the storyline and everything about it was written beautifully. I feel as though we got closure during the afterlife scene and I am so happy about that.
I am such a fan of all of Neressa’s relationships with the other characters. The bonds she has, amazing. Found family? yes please. Nyra?! I need more of her!!!
I really started to like Roman and I am SUCH a sucker for fated mates (shoot me, idc). But I do wish we got a little more build-up to them, which is partially the reason this book isn’t a definitive 5 stars for me. He really was only a main concept the last like 20% of the book which made me sad. Also, Silas is his father?! or am I misreading his POV?? I need someone to confirm because I reread his chapter like three times but I just can’t believe it.
overall : AMAZING book and I can’t wait to continue reading about some of my new favorite character!!!

I was hooked from chap two. "The idea of becoming a princess makes something violent twist in my stomach. The title feels wrong attached to me, like forcing silk over a sharpened blade."
I absolutely love this FMC. She is fierce, bad to the bone, with a caged (but loyal and loving) heart that she protects dearly.
Okay, now…WTF? I need more of the MMC RIGHT NOW. He better be in the next book. The last line of the book had me grabbing my throat. I loved Roman’s POV. Ugh. “How she carries the power, the pressure, the world on her shoulders, and never breaks amazes me.” I LOVE a man that sees a woman for who she is at her core and the darkness she carries and is unabashed and undeterred.
I am an author myself, and I envy the way Allie wrote this book. She is so blunt and directed with her words and the way Ness thinks as a protagonist is so enamoring and engaging. Honestly, I loved the intrusive thoughts and “fucked up” frame of mind. She is such a powerhouse and I have so much respect for a woman who exists and doesn’t apologize for it. We need MORE of that!!
Next… “The Cinder Prince. Heir to a throne. Leader of a revolution.Roman Braveheart. And hopefully my savior. He closes the distance.” Holy freaking crap one of the best segments I’ve ever read. I’m in tears.
The ending had me a lil confused but to be fair I am sleep deprived lol. This line right here “If I hadn’t saved her, if I hadn’t given her half my soul, she’d have never come back from the other side.” SOMEBODY SEDATE ME.
This book is so dang good. It was also my first pirate romance read! I honestly wasn’t sure how I would feel or if I would remain engaged the whole time, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Once I was sucked in, I was sucked in. My little ember…give. me. all. of. that. How can she drown in a nightmare!?! Was this explained? Did I miss it? Holy crap I have so many questions. Rowan communicating through her mind god. I’m obsessed.

This was my first introduction to this author’s work and I really loved this - the world-building, the characters, our FMC (what a badass!), the magic (who doesn’t love a healer plus it’s our MMC too!), sirens, pirates, shifters so much lore and a slight twist on fated mates … so much and it’s beautifully intertwined to create this dark fantasy.
This is Book 2 in the Sirenborne Chronicles, and it is set 6 years prior to the first book however it can be read as a standalone. This is dark fantasy at its best: set in a misogynistic gritty world whereby a sinister king and his royals are masquerading for the people whilst eliminating those with magic in horrific ways. The plot was lighter on action and more character-driven; however it still kept me engrossed in the story. And did I mention there’s a rebellion brewing?!
Our FMC - the badass I mentioned before - Neressa has been trained to become a deadly assassin in the Academy. Someone who completes the job and whose reputation precedes her. She comes with a lethal dose of feminine rage - completely warranted as you dive into both her backstory and current events - and hellbent on vengeance. Her destiny hangs in the balance. You are kept guessing what this could actually be till near the end and then knowing it’s a vital thread that will be woven into future chronicles, as more pieces of the puzzle fit together.
I can’t write this review without mentioning the romance. It didn’t follow any formula with Allie putting her own unique spin on this which I loved. There was a love interest as well as our MMC. It was heart-breaking and then it was soothingly beautiful with how one lead to the other without too much angst and without giving too much away. You’ve just got to read this to know what I mean - there may be some or a lot of tears 😭
The book concludes with a shift in POV and more is revealed - not what I was expecting (I had to reread one sentence again!) and then setting this up perfectly for where I hope this story heads next. I cannot wait for more, especially between these two - I’ll leave it at that!

Slayer is a fast-paced romantasy featuring the most bad-ass assassin-siren FMC (who may or may not have even more secrets buried) who genuinely had me hooked and emotionally invested from page one. When I say that I felt all of the emotions while reading this book, I genuinely mean that. From chapters that had my crying and staring dramatically off into the distance contemplating life (quoting my own annotations here: “well that was brutal”) to intensely swooning and obsessing over the love interest despite the fact that this story is absolutely a slow burn romance. I am absolutely here for it and I love it so much, but it’s also slightly torturous and I very much so need more of them. Prepare to finish this book and immediately have about ten more questions and be 1000% more obsessed with the romance than you were an hour before.
Add on to all of that the absolutely incredible world and magic system of this story and the characters. Because I am so incredibly obsessed with everything. There are things going on in this story that I so deeply adore and, once again, have about ten million more thoughts on. I so badly wish I could say more, but alas, spoilers. So now you guys just have to go read it yourself!
And I simply cannot finish this review without mentioning the fact that the vibes of this book are just as amazing as every single other part of it! There are assassins and pirates and sirens and other things I don’t watch to mention and is genuinely so unlike anything I have ever read before, and that is absolutely a good thing! I read the whole thing in two sittings and have zero regrets over that. t’s book two in The Sirenborne Chronicles, but it can be read before book one, Siren’s Cove (which is also absolutely incredible and a great read)

Let me start off by saying I have not read Siren's Cove yet, which is technically the first book in this series. I was told it's not necessary to read that one first, and I would agree with that.
This book is all feminine rage, f*** the patriarchy, touch him and die, assassin academy in a pirate town with lots of ancient dark magic. And a library, which is her sanctuary (as it should be).
The writing style is so easy to devour, the plot is PLOTTING, and it's easy to love and hate the characters Allie means for us to. There are twists, and puzzle pieces that click in place, and puzzle pieces that don't fit anywhere YET, and we're left in a place where you just KNOW the next book is gonna be insane.
Neressa is a badass, angry slayer woman raised in the academy to not show any weakness or mercy under any circumstances. She gives Celaena Sardothein vibes throughout the book with her feminine rage and "burn it all" energy.
The way she goes after everyone that wronged her in some way, or wronged those she cares about, is absolute. At times maybe even a little too absolute.
Her mentor has always told her that love is weakness, but she proves time and again that's not actually the case. Except, she has enemies everywhere and needs to learn who (and how) to trust.
There's so many things happening with different groups of people that we have yet to really unravel, and Neressa definitely has more to learn about herself in the next book, and I'm more than happy to be along for the ride.

I experienced so many emotions with Neressa’s story and I love when books make me feel many different things from heartbreak, anger, and just pure giddiness because of the MMC. I couldn’t believe it that the ending crept up on me and now I need another book as soon as possible! I’m obsessed with Roman,and I think everyone will love him! Allie leaves us wanting more of him and I can’t wait to see more of him and Neressa!

No but seriously slayer could easily have been 100-200 pages longer and I would’ve eaten it up as well.
Neressa is easily one of the most badass girlbosses I’ve ever read about!
She is an assassin in a world of pirates and royals, a leader of the underworld. 🗡️🏴☠️

All in all an amazing story about a powerful woman who just wants things to be right. My only wish is that the ending had maybe been a bit longer? Or maybe I’m just sad I haven’t got a sequel in my hands…

Neressa is a certified badass. She is cunning and fearless and nothing or no one gets in her way. She will never admit it but she loves fiercely and protects who she cares about with her entire being. The writing was a little cheesy and repetitive at times but I liked the book as a whole. The characters were intriguing, there was good world building and pacing, and it was a fun story. The ending felt a little rushed to me so hopefully it will be explored more in the next book.

From the very beginning Allie draws you in with beautifully descriptive writing and really builds on lore and history from the first book.
If you like strong, bad ass assassin FMCs like Raeve or Caelena then Neressa is your girl. She was a mysterious and intriguing side character in Sirens Cove so I loved exploring her back story more. She is smart, confident and ruthless with a protective streak for those she loves. This story is very character-driven and we follow Neressa as she gains power, finds love, suffers loss, seeks vengeance and has to forge a way forward. That ending had me questioning so much and makes me excited for the overarching story of the Sirenborne Chronicles with little puzzle pieces falling into place.

The concept itself was intriguing, but I found myself wishing the story had a little more room to breathe and develop. At times, the pacing felt rushed, and I think adding more depth throughout could have made an already interesting premise really shine.
My biggest struggle was with the romance. The MMC doesn’t really come into the story until the last 15% or so, which made it difficult for me to fully connect with their relationship. Their connection felt very instant, with him immediately stepping into the protective role, and I personally wanted more time to see their relationship develop and their feelings evolve.

Wow. What a beautiful story. The way Allie writes genuinely blows me away. It's complex and poetic, but somehow simple and easy to fall into at the same time. It scratched an itch in my brain I didn't even know I had.
This story was unique in the best way, nothing like what I expected going in. Grief, anger, love…she layers them until they melt together into something tragic and gorgeous.
And Neressa? She's THAT girl. I already loved her from Sirens Cove, but getting her full story here had me falling in love with her all over again. What a badass.
This was also such a slow slow burn, and it was done so beautifully and tastefully. I love Ness with my whole heart. I relate to her anger, her grief, all of it… I just want to give her a huge hug.
On top of the emotional gut-punch, this was also just a genuinely fun adventure. I was getting major Assassin's Blade / Celaena Sardothien vibes. I cannot wait to see what Allie writes next.

First off, I LOVED this book! The writing style was so easy to get into, and I feel like I flew through it.
Neressa is an absolute badass, and I’m obsessed with her. Her character development in such a short amount of time was beautifully done, and honestly, I just wanted MORE. I finished the book feeling like I still had so many questions about her.
And the MMC?! We got so little time with him, and I NEED more. I was left with even more questions about him than I had about Neressa. The tiny taste we got of the MMC at the end was NOT enough. 😂
I’m already excited for the next book. This was my first book in the series, but I’ll absolutely be going back to read the first one while I wait!

If you loved Sirens Cove but you wanted a bit more rage, Slayer is for you. Neressa is a badass who is sick and tired of being used as a puppet her entire life and you can FEEL how done she is with the men in charge. The burn is slow because we are focused on a pivotal point in her life where she finally is able to take control but it is there. The romance is simmering right in the background. Neressa is woman who is tired of the path she was put on but pushes forward to better not only her life but those of hers she cares about. For Allie Belle's second book, you can see the development in her writing, the emotions are felt so strongly, the pacing is FAST, and the imagery is lush. Mira and Kai, I do love you but Neressa and Rowan have my heart. I cannot wait for book 3 to come out
