"Lucifer's gifts always come with chains, but that's tomorrow's problem. Tonight, in Hell's darkest circle, I'm going to let these dangerous, gorgeous things devour me."

4⭐ 1🌶️

and devour her they do!!!!
the moment between Lucifer and the chaos demon???? EXCUSE ME NIKKITA?!!!! 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
I can confidently say that I have no idea where this series is going and that's what makes it so much fun!

This story/series is so original. I have never read anything like it.
I am obsessed with Nikkita Bell's portrayal of hell and the demons within and how October Winters rules both above and under ground
Her on and off again relationship with the devil himself is *insert sweating emoji* HOT

I love the little bit of vulnerability we did get to see in October this time
We got to see some of her fears and weaknesses beneath the surface, which she absolutely hates because she doesn’t want to be anything like the humans but alas... SHE IS!
i LOVEEE the duality of being this powerful, badass sorceress while still carrying very human emotions and traits underneath it all

Just know... you do need to read the first two books before this one
It will spoil a lot for you so it's crucial to go back before diving into this one!

💕You will enjoy this series if you are into:
+ angels & demons
+ badass FMC
+ rock and heavy metal vibes
+ nostalgic settings and songs
+ corruption
+ witch x the devil himself

October Winters barely survived her ultimatum to reap a thousand souls in six days, and now she’s sentenced to Hell – the one place she’s spent centuries avoiding. She has to find a way to break the curse that she put on the Demons of Nightmares and Fear. October doesn’t have only the Primes to worry about, the souls she’s reaped also want revenge, so she’s been assigned a bodyguard – Mayhem, a high-level Chaos demon.

I HATE DEAD PEOPLE (TOO) is a novella that takes place between books one and two and lines up nicely with the end of book two. That said – this cannot be read as a standalone, nor after having read only book one as it will spoil book two for you.

I absolutely adore October Winters so any chance to hang out with her is one I’ll snap up without a second thought. I HATE DEAD PEOPLE (TOO) is the novella I didn’t know I needed though. It is a raw, intense, and unfiltered glimpse into October’s current existence within Hell and one I had a very hard time putting down. The fact that everything that transpires in this novella rings in at less than 200 pages is impressive… and very well written. Each reveal houses information that further develops aspects of the preceding books, giving a deeper understanding and context.

The writing within these pages is vivid, gripping, and rife with tension. October is still every bit the badass bombshell she was in books one and two, but Nikkita allows us to see October’s vulnerable side here. We also meet a new character – Mayhem, October’s new bodyguard. He’s a total green flag – though can a high-level Chaos demon whose entire existence is chaos and destruction truly be a green flag? You’ll have to read to find out 😉. Mayhem is messy, chaotic, and dangerous. But he’s also vulnerable with October, he’s devoted, and he’s a total smoke show. The connection that October and Mayhem develop is tantalizing and I truly hope we get to see more of this duo in future books in this series!

The chapter titles are once again song titles, making up a playlist that truly sets the tone. If you haven’t added this book or series to your TBR, you’re missing out 👏🏻.

P.S. The epilogue? AMAZING 👏🏻. I know I’ll be eagerly awaiting whatever Nikkita puts out next!

I would like to thank the author, Nikkita Bell, of this advanced digital copy for the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for an honest review! All opinions expressed are my own.

I feel absolutely spoiled to have read this bad boy early. I Hate Dead People (too) was such a fun answer to where in the HELL was October Winters inbetween The Bombshell Devil's Advocate and To Hell With Bad Decisions.

Nikkita always writes such fun reads and I'm always happy to be back in her Hellion Harlot world! As always, the banter was top notch and had me cackling. I love Toby's sarcastic and witty humour. And now with Daddy Mayhem in the mix, well doesn't he just know how to give it right back. This demon is deliciousss and completely chaotic. I think I'm in love! Oh and that epilog. His thoughts. That set up. 😩 I CANNOT wait for more!!

Here's to Hellfire and Chaos baby- light the match 🔥🖤

I'm becoming a huge fan of novellas--this one definitely included! Short, spicy, and full of October + a new love interest 👀

A HUGE thank you to Nikkita Bell for a chance to ARC read this!!

Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Characters: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Writing Style: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Atmosphere/world-building: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🔥🔥🔥

Characters
October is running from her demons (and actual demons) after the events of The Bombshell Devil's Advocate (TBDA). Luci seems to know just what she needs to get back to her usual self.

At the end of TBDA, October seems mostly fine. However, it becomes quickly apparent here that she is very much not fine. She's still reeling after the last week from hell and still hurt, no matter how much she tries to pretend otherwise, after the events with Declan. Hurt, trauma, and insecurities are beginning to creep up, and she can only run so far.

We do get some interaction between October and Declan. Which left me feeling simultaneously vindictive cause he totally deserves it, sad that things ended up this way between them, and heartbroken because it's no longer Nero. Seriously, though, how am I still this upset over a scorpion!?

Enter Chaos's right-hand Demon, Mayhem, courtesy of his Devilness, Lucifer. Luci was right too Mayhem is just what October needs at the moment. But how is a demon with a half-exposed face of muscle with teeth that take up more than half his face and a kaleidoscope for an eye THIS HOT!? How is a demon more of a green flag MMC than the supposed nephilim!? By the end of the novella, I was absolutely IN LOVE with Mayhem and his insane ramblings, sarcasm, and charm. MORE MAYHEM!!

Writing Style
I love Nikkita's writing. And her art. Especially when the two are combined!

This novella does such a great job at bridging the events between the end of TBDA and To Hell With Bad Decisions (THWBD)! It gives insight into the aftermath of TBDA and an explanation for where October is during THWBD. Most importantly for me, though, it let me see October's actual thoughts during THWBD's finale and gives some extra context for why things blew up so spectacularly.

Atmosphere/world-building
We get a first-hand view of what Hell is like alongside October! This includes more information about the Primes and how Hell is structured. Additionally! We finally get a bit more information on what led to October's year on the run 👀

Spice
Only one spicy scene towards the end of the book, but it was 🔥🔥🔥 I would like more scenes with Lucifer and Mayhem, please!! 🤣

“Fear is just another thing to burn, so light the match.”

Nikkita Bell has done it again. 👏👏👏👏

And somehow, she’s also delivered something entirely different.

This novella doesn’t just connect the gaps between The Bombshell Devils Advocate and Bad Decisions it peels back layers that have barely even been touched before. The walls crack. The masks slip. And for the first time, we truly get to see what’s hiding underneath all the chaos.

I devoured this in one sitting. It is raw, intense, and absolutely packs a punch.

October is still every bit as powerful, sharp, and untouchable as we know her to be… but this time, we’re forced to see the vulnerable edges too. Not because she wants us to… because she has no choice. She’s trapped in an environment with someone who drags every buried fear, wound, and truth to the surface whether she accepts it or not.

And THAT is what makes this novella hit so hard.

Every interaction feels loaded. Every conversation feels like a match being struck.

We get answers. We get clues. We get deeper understanding of the things that happened during Bad Decisions, and even more terrifying glimpses into the destruction still to come.

And MAYHEM?

Oh, don’t even get me STARTED. 😩👀

That man is pure destruction wrapped in devotion. Chaos wrapped in gasoline fumes and bloodstained loyalty. Every scene with him felt electric.

“He is chaos. We are chaos.

We accept each other for our ugliest, dirtiest sides—sides others would destroy us for. Hell, some have already tried.

We shouldn’t make sense. We don’t make sense. But we make each other better, and our best selves are everyone else’s worst fucking nightmare.”

Those quote alone altered my brain chemistry.

The tension. The obsession. The understanding between them. It’s messy and dangerous and somehow still feels inevitable.

Nikkita Bell writes characters that don’t just live on the page. They claw their way under your skin and stay there.

I cannot WAIT to see what comes next. 😈

Thank you to Nikkita for this BETA read 🥹🖤 you have my heart.

𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙊𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜.

I get so amped up when I read a Hellion Harlot novel! The banter, the energy, the scandalous betrayals - it leaves you buzzing in the mayhem afterwards. Speaking of Mayhem… new fictional boyfriend unlocked 🥵 I absolutely loved the chaos Mayhem brought and that peek into his POV was the cherry on top 🍒😮‍💨

𝙃𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙨 𝙪𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚—𝙩𝙬𝙤 𝙬𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧’𝙨 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙨𝙝. 𝙄𝙣 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙠𝙞𝙨𝙨, 𝙄 𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡. 𝙄𝙣 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙠𝙞𝙨𝙨, 𝙄 𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙤𝙨.

October gets vulnerable in this one. It’s rare we see this side of her and it made her appear human, relatable. Turns out even a powerful witch like the Devil’s Second has fears and insecurities. It’s character depth like that that brings these characters to life. You love them, hate them, fear them, obsess over them - it’s the perfect emotional cocktail. We also get more insight into her relationship with Lucifer and I hope Nikkita keeps giving us more of these glimpses into their dynamic because I’m all for it 😍

“𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪. 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙. … 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚, 𝙊𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙒𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨. 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙜𝙤.”

You’ve heard me talk about the Hellion Harlot Collection numerous times (for good reason). I Hate Dead People (Too) is book 2.5 in the series and I think it just became my favourite.

“Two apex predators circling each other. A match made in Hellfire.”

I hate dead people (too) is the newest edition to the Hellion Harlet series. It follows October Winters on her mission after the night in the cemetery of the first book. Shes joined by some fan favourites and a new absolute dreamboat of a demon, Mayhem.

This a a fun behind the scenes look at our favourite witch and her continued journey to Hell and back again.

Mayhem the new character introduced is the first of Chaos and perfectly fucked up in all the right ways. He would be “mesmerizing” in and out of his glamour and he really doesn’t mind doing the dirty work when it comes to our girl October. I am absolutely obsessed with Mayhem and I’d confidently say he is in my top 3 characters of the whole series so far.

“I’ve never been so turned on watching a woman degrade a bug before”

The epilogue was absolutely brilliant and it not only kept me anchored in Octobers storyline but also was a very exciting quick look into Indy and Charlie’s story aka book 3.

It definitely can’t be read as a standalone and why would you read it that way when you could read the first two books and not only experience one of the best book series but also have the full details and enjoy the characters so much more.

Wow! This novella was incredible! I am eagerly anticipating the next release for the story of Indigo Moon and Charlie Maynard!

October Winters travels through Hell on a mission sent by the Devil himself, to find a way to release the Nightmare and Fear demons from their banishment. Along the way she's presented with a gift that is sworn to protect her through the fiery depths of Hell, and the Chaos above. More life altering deals are made, and she's on a race to accomplish her mission before her time is up. Will she escape? Will she make Daddy proud?

I truly loved everything about this short story, it adds to the many layers of chaos that defines October Winters. The world building is so descriptive it feels like you're right there with her! Also as always, the artwork is an amazing added bonus!

"The true prize is not the acceptance of others. It's the intoxicating freedom of accepting myself."- October Winters

I would highly recommend giving this book a read after reading To Hell With Bad Decisions. If you love Chaos, carnage, and morally complex anti-heroines who embrace their dark nature unapologetically you need to give this book a read! Also, make sure to check your trigger warnings!

Another amazing book by Ms. Nikkita Bell! I can never say enough good things about her writing or her artwork! Every book she writes just gets better and better honestly. The Hellion Harlot series is unlike anything I have ever read before, it is so unique and immersive in every way. This novella is no different. It is my fave book of hers yet!

In this novella, we finally get more of October Winters and what she has been up to since the ending of TBDA. She is going to Hell...literally. I love being reminded of Octobers sarcastic, witty and sinful personality, she is such a badass character. She has finally found someone who can match her energy! Enter Mayhem, the hot, puppy dog of a Demon (aka Demon of Chaos). He is everything we (and October) need in a side character. Trust me when I say you will come out of this questioning why a Demon can be so hot🔥He is very loveable and I found myself laughing throughout the novella even though the setting is very dark and filled with the horrors of Hell. I.AM.LIVING.FOR.THEIR.BANTER 👏 Gimme more of these two please. Also wtf was that ending Nikkita.....

Not only do we get to see the journey October has been on, we also get to see more of her character in depth. We finally get to know her on a more visceral level. I love being shown her insecurities and finally seeing past her walls. I have a whole new appreciation for her character and cannot wait to learn more about her and the amazing and dark world that Nikkita has created. I love that she writes about mental health and weaves into her characters and the world they live in!

Fave Quotes:

"Funny how I can destroy a man and still not be free of him. My own damn fault, really."

"I shrug. “I’ve fucked uglier demons for less.”"

“You look fantastic for your age. I wouldn’t peg you for a day over 850.” He pauses, that insufferable smirk returning. “Now, if you wanted to peg me— different conversation. Totally on the table, though.”

“Your crazy matches my crazy, Winters.”

"In our darkness and corruption, we’ve found something eerily close to home. A twin flame born of Hellfire and chaos. We shouldn’t make sense. We don’t make sense. But we make each other better, and our best selves are everyone else’s worst fucking nightmare."

Where do I begin? Nikkita Bell has once again delivered another delicious masterpiece centered around our delightfully villainous October Winters. Filling in the gaps from book 1 through book 2 this is not one you want to skip!

This book offers fresh perspectives, wicked debauchery and delectable chaos leaving you needing more. This book had some liners in there that hit home, as well as others that left me cackling. In this book we are introduced to one of my new favorite characters, who ultimately, I cannot get enough of. Think of a golden retriever, on acid, tripping balls and salivating over their owner. Confused? You won’t be for long! Haha

Overall, another phenomenal piece that flows so seamlessly touching on Toby’s deepest secrets. If you haven’t read the other 2 books to the hellion harlot series… what are you even doing with yourself?

I Hate Dead People (Too) — Nikkita Bell (⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️)

October Winters is dealing with the consequences of her actions. Lucifer has set forth another task she must complete to fix her mistakes, but this time he gives her a little help. Mayhem is afoot. Chaos is a lifestyle. And Fears & Nightmares won’t make this task easy.

Nikkita has done it again. This book has some loved characters but brings in some new Mayhem that keeps you engaged. The descriptions of this world and hell will allow you to picture it all perfectly. And the October snark with all the characters is once again fire. Loved this quick read to catch up on what has been happening with October.

What I liked: Banter, Engaging storytelling, Humor, Strong characters, World-building
Would I recommend? Yes
Who it’s for: If you enjoy strong and villainous women, beautiful imagery, and chaos this series is for you.

October Winters is going to Hell… literally.

“Fear is just another thing to burn, so light the match.”

I swear, with every book Nikkita Bell writes, they just keep getting better and better. Welcome to a novella filled with sinful intensity, with neo-noir horrors, with gore and chaos and purely feral energy!

I Hate Dead People (Too) brings the irreverence, sarcasm, and wit that we’ve come to know and love from October Winters, but also gives us a new look into her character. We’re peeking past her walls and experiencing her vulnerabilities first hand and it gives us a whole new appreciation for her character!

I love. Love. LOVE. how much mental health is layered into every element of this novella. October’s struggles and guilt and pain mixed with Mayhem’s general chaos and ADHD is perfection. The Nightmare & Fear realm is an aching presentation of what the inside of a mind with depression feels like, and it was insane (in the best way) to read that written out on the page. Even the descriptions of the realm are a metaphor for mental illness that I will replay in a loop in my mind because they were just so well done! It’s mental health meets the nine thirteen levels of hell!

“Your crazy matches my crazy, Winters.”

Now, onto the horror. This is 100% the most horror-y of Nikkita’s work yet… and I am EATING IT UP! She does a great job of blending the horror into the fantasy of the realm she has created. The atmosphere in this books is filled with gore and creepiness, and gives us horror lovers something to salivate at, while still keeping to her neo-noir fantasy style we’ve come to know and love!

“Necromancy. Mania. Corruption. Rage. The ideal ingredients for a catastrophic demise.”

I truly cannot say enough good things about this book, and about Nikkita’s writing as a whole. How she manages to bring us to a neo-noir, neo-gothic, urban fantasy, horror world with insane characters… and yet still gives us so much relatability and makes us feel seen. It should honestly be studied because it is an INCREDIBLE talent.

“Bury it deep, light the match, and never ever tell.”

I don't want to spoil it, I really really don't but I just want to say that this might be my favorite side of October Winters yet. This novella is nothing short of a gift. I got a new character got more lore and I got the spicy scene of my hellion dreams. am a huge Nikkita fan and I knew I had to devour this early as I did THWBD so you know I got in on the ARC read. I can't wait for my preorder to come so she can sit on the shelf with her sisters in all her glory and to see the art that makes Nikkitas books stand out from everything else on the market. This girl is still wondering who she has to sacrifice to get her villainous woman status around here... If you pick this one up you'll die and go straight to Hell. 😈

I am usually not a novella person. I can enjoy them, but usually feel like I miss the depth that comes with a full length book. But this novella right here said “challenge accepted”.
Hands down five stars. Nikkita managed to write a novella with the perfect amount of plot, character growth, depth and emotion, and the usual sass and spice that comes with her incredible Hellion-verse characters. This fun read gives more background information on how the Hellion-verse works and what was happening for October while we were adventuring with Reagan in book 2. As many people have said in reviews, this was everything I didn’t know I needed from this series!!
This is a must read in the series, just be sure to read books 1&2 first!

This world...these characters...the writing...the plot...it all has me in an absolute CHOKEHOLD.

October Winters is possibly the hottest and most powerful bad as b*tch to ever exist. I know she's flawed....but honestly I don't care. I either wish I was her, or I wish I was her best friend. And don't get me STARTED on MAYHEM. Holy shmoly absolutely insane and hot as hell demon man. He's totally crazy...but in suuuuuuuuch a good way.

And the WRITING...UGH. These books are so well written and the plot is so unique and intriguing and wild and fantastical.

PLEASE read the Hellion Harlot series so you can read this book. PLEASE.

Unsurprisingly, Nikkita has once again crafted a riveting rollercoaster ride to hell that’ll make you laugh, have you biting your nails, will steam up your mirrors, and even make you tear up at times. She does it in such a way that while the ride may be wild, it’s also seamlessly put together and flows together effortlessly. Mayhem (MMC) is chaotic perfection and October (FMC) remains the delightful embodiment of the FAFO mentality - seriously, if you love take no shit independent baddies, October is the one for you. If you have yet to read any of the hellion harlot series…you’re missing out. What are you waiting for?!?

This is another hit out of the park for the Hellion Harlot series!! I was so excited to be back with October and get to explore a new side of her and this world. Mayhem is also an excellent new character and I can't wait to see how to story progresses 👀. Impatiently waiting over here!

DEFINITELY read the other books in this series first. This is book 2.5 of a series!

What a rollercoaster

I loved getting a look back to October's story. She is such a badass.

If you are looking for a Happily ever after this is not the book for you.

It's full of terrible things happening at every turn.

I loved Mayhem, and also glad that his PIC only happened once. I'm not sure I could read much more from him. But, it was written perfectly, that is exactly how his mind works!!!

I was fortunate to get an ARC of this book, although I did not get to review it early due to personal things. But I loved this addition to the Hellion Harlot series! October is quickly becoming my favorite “bad” girl, who is not ashamed of her path in the afterlife. She also isn’t immune from making mistakes and having to face the consequences. Sometimes all at once. Even in a world of ostensibly villainous beings, we get pulled into the machinations and double-crosses. Adding in Mayhem this time around makes things even more chaotic. The Devil’s Second may be a favorite, but even October is not immune from family squabbles and vengeful souls.

You definitely have to read the first two books in the series to read this one (it takes place parallel to the second book and right after the first). But they are also so good, that it will be worth it :)
