Cassandra is the youngest of three generations of Greek American women whose scars and secrets have all but obscured their fierce love for one another. A reformed juvenile offender in a small, unforgiving Indiana town, she drives to Southwest Florida in search of her married lover, who has disappeared. What she finds there forces her to question most of what she believes about love — and everything she believes about herself.
As an American of Greek decent, I enjoyed the references and recognized certain characters. In terms of coming of age stories (a label I really dislike, but this makes you forget that) as this one is lovely. Introducing characters that restore your faith in the "kindness of strangers."
