A reluctant omega. Four devoted alphas. One university campus full of old books, autumn light, and inconvenient instincts.

Elodie Maddison has a plan for her first semester at Rosewood University: study entomology, spend as much time as possible in the archives, prove herself in the fieldwork opportunities she’s been dreaming about, and keep well away from pack drama.

Then she runs straight into Jamie Miller’s chest, all warm vanilla, golden amber, and citrus.

Avoiding Jamie should be easy.

Avoiding Pack Whitmore is another thing entirely.

Alex: The lacrosse captain and campus golden boy with pack leader written all over him.

Chase: The huge, tattooed veterinary student who is terrifying until he melts.

Adrian: The nerdy alpha who somehow makes study sessions feel intimate.

Jamie: The flirty film boy with a camera in hand and a talent for making Elodie laugh.

Elodie came to Rosewood for a future that belonged entirely to her. She has no intention of letting biology, instinct, or four gorgeous alphas decide who she gets to become.

But between cozy libraries, archive dust, scent-drunk instincts, and alphas who want her mind as much as her scent, Elodie starts to wonder if belonging might not be the same thing as losing herself.

She came to Rosewood for her studies.

Her omega instincts found a pack.

And this time, being wanted might feel a lot like coming home.

Written in Scent is a cozy academia why choose omegaverse romance featuring a reluctant omega, a scent-matched pack, four devoted alphas, found family, university romance, nesting, knotting, claiming bites, and one very opinionated cat.

I don’t know if many people read the authors notes. But I do. And it mentions that Elodie was written inspired by the people who are quiet, but once you get to know them, they show you exactly how bright they are. As someone who is on the autism spectrum, I am this way. I have certain interests that I become absolutely enamoured with and then I learn all that I can about it. Elodie & I are the same in that matter. My special interest became my degree, same as Elodie. Reading about Elodie made me feel seen. I’m always very quiet & shy when I don’t know people well, but once I do, I won’t stop talking. I absolutely adore this book. Elodie has to be one of my favourite characters that I’ve read all year. She has passion like no other. The love she has for her bugs is just so perfect. I have so much respect for her over the fact that she just wants to be Elodie the entomologist, and not Elodie the omega. The alphas in this book want nothing but the absolute world for her. I freaking stood up & applauded when she finally let them in. I’m not typically one for blondes, but Jamie (who might as well be a golden retriever puppy in alpha form) is one of the most charismatic kind mmc’s I have ever read. He saw Elodie and fell under her spell faster than you could blink. Him making it his life mission to make her smile is so incredibly heartwarming. Adrian, my sweet sweet boy, oh my goodness. He might as well be as sweet as sugar. I love how soft he is with Elodie. How he show her designations don’t define who you are as a person. Chase might as well be my new obsession. Because COME ON. He’s 6’5”, tattooed, and brooding BUT is actually a secret softy and has the absolute biggest love for animals. Because he just wants something- someone- to take care of??? Oh my gosh I just want to give him a hug. And Alex?? Sometimes it feels like Apex Alphas are very BAM in your face with their alpha-iness, but Alex was the best kind of quiet and secure dominance that would make anyone feel safe. I absolutely love how Elodie opened up her heart to them, and accepted them into it. They were inevitable. I absolutely love Written in Scent. This one of my favourites this whole year no doubt. It was so cosy and perfect. When the book described the fall, it reminded me of crisp New England fall days when the trees turn yellow & red and the cooler air surround you like a hug. This book brought me so much joy to read. Thank you so much Sofia Rose for allowing me to be apart of the ARC readers. I adore Written in Scent💜

“Don’t dim your light to make other people comfortable. It won’t be tolerated here.”

General thoughts:
This was just a really sweet read. It was cosy, comforting, and sensory-driven. Truly the sensory descriptions like scents were beautiful. I really liked that the FMC was quiet but not shy when it came to her academic work. I found the specific area of academia that Elodie was in fascinating. Entomology is not something I know very much about, so it was really lovely getting to hear about so many different aspects of it.

TLDR:
I enjoyed learning about bugs.

What I liked:
🪲I liked getting to know the different characters.
🪲Getting to see the university was really nice and I hope we get more books set here.
🪲The atmosphere as a whole in the book was nice and autumnal.
🪲As mentioned, I enjoyed getting to see Elodie and learn about Entomology.

What I struggled with/didn’t really like:
🪲There were parts where the writing felt quite repetitive. Including one or two sections where it felt like the same sentence in different (or quite similar) wording was repeated a lot.
🪲I wish we got to know Sophie more. There were parts of her character I really liked, but the majority of her was there purely as a tool to get Elodie to go on dates ect. Like I want to hear more of how her classes are doing and some more bits of them actually being friends.

Favourite character/s:
Noodle

Who this is for/recommendations:
💖If you want a sweet romance with an academia cosy autumnal vibe.
💖If you want something that’s quite easy to read with no big dramas.

Thank you to Sofia Rose for letting me read an e-arc. This was such a sweet book and I had a lovely time reading it. As always, my opinions are entirely my own.

First of all, Elodie is hands down one of my favorite characters ever.

I connected with her on a deeply personal level. Her story is about more than being an omega; it's about wanting to be seen for who you truly are and having your hard work, sacrifices, and achievements recognized instead of being constantly dismissed because of something you can't control. While the book explores this through the discrimination she faces as an omega, I think it resonates with so many real-life experiences.

There's something incredibly comforting about Elodie. She's calm, thoughtful, intelligent, and incredibly capable, yet she's allowed to be vulnerable. I loved that balance. She's strong without ever feeling invincible, and her moments of fragility only made me admire her even more.

The boys were another highlight for me. I loved how distinct they all are, each bringing something completely different to Elodie's life. Their individual personalities and struggles made the relationships feel unique, and I really enjoyed watching them balance their own challenges while trying to win her heart.

A special mention has to go to Noodle, who completely stole my heart, and to Sophie, who I think is such an important part of Elodie's journey. She plays a huge role in helping Elodie discover who she is, believe in herself, and realize that she deserves so much more than the world has led her to believe.

Overall: 4 to 4.5🌟
Spice: between 3 to 4🌶️🥵

Review: I find it splendid as Sofia is a new author to me and very interesting learning about insects with our lovely FMC, Elodie.

First of all, grateful for the e-ARC, thank you Sofia!🫶

Second of all, I find it written not bad, I love reading omegaverse in school campus setting troupes, and loveeee how noodle(the cat)came to Elodie. I love how independently Elodie is, an strong FMC who is sure of her goals and future plans in omegaverse is really a must that I didn't know I need😌🙌💅

I love how she doesn't want to be recognized just as the pack's omega but as Elodie, the Entomologists. Just a little heartache for the alphas, awww🥹 Sweet alphas that just wants to be a safe spot for Elodie and support her studies🥺

Lastly, I think if there are more emotional connection scenes for between Elodie with Alex and Chase each individually, especially the date between Alex and Elodie, it would be even more perfect for me as an reader (This is just my own opinion, please don't let my small review to stop you from reading this amazing book🫶). Overall it was a pretty good read, I enjoy it well.

Finished on somewhere from 30/31 July to 2/3 Aug

I really loved Pack Whitmore, and I loved how patient they were with Elodie. They understood that she truly didn’t understand pack dynamics and they were so wonderful. I loved how the alphas each discovered Elodie and that the first thing they really noticed was how passionate and talented she was in her major. And that they did everything to make her shine. Also Sophie was the best friend that I want. I can’t wait to see her get her pack.

Now the third act break-ish, didn’t love but I saw it coming. I think Elodie reacted a little too much but I get she felt her identity was being reduced to just the Whitmore omega. But also I don’t think the Alphas did a good job explaining, although I bet there were a lot of emotions involved especially with heat/heat spike. So perfect miscommunication happened! Thankfully it was short and Sophie was there. She is the best. Anyway it worked out and I think the pack were each perfect for each other.

Honestly I didn’t think I would enjoy learning about bugs as I did with this book. That was a pleasant surprise!

Thank you to the author for the ARC, I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved the concept and the characters of this book so much. Unfortunately, it fell a little flat for me. I would have loved a more in depth exploration of the characters, they were a bit surface level, especially the MMCs. The FMC was afraid of commitment and pack life for about 50% of the book, I was getting a little annoyed when she ended up leading the MMCs on to only run away again, and again. I was really excited about these MMCs, I really wish we got more of them. They honestly felt a bit like side characters compared to the FMC. I especially wish we got more of Chase, he felt completely forgotten compared to Jamie, Adrian, and Alex (who we didn’t really much of either).
There were also a few instances where saying or the characters thoughts were overly repetitive, especially Elodie’s.
I did really like Elodie’s roommate Sophie, she was a nice break in between the main storyline.
Overall, the book was okay, it needed way more character development.

This was a low angst, sweet omegaverse following Elodie. She's an omega who just wants to do her studies and didn't want a pack. I enjoyed how the MMC's respected her space and still took the time to slowly woo her instead of being insistant that they belonged together. The slow development was really cute and I really enjoyed the individual dates they took Elodie on. Adrian and Chris were my favourites out of the pack. Adrian was such a sweet, nerdy guy suited to Elodie who'd nerd out with him. Chris had the secret side he only showed his pack and Elodie and him with Noodle, just too cute. Alex and Jamie were really likeable too! Alex being the confident lacrosse captain while the apex of the pack. Jamie was the funny, easy going pack member who lightened the mood.

This was an easy, sweet read. Absolutely up your street if you just want a campus, sweet omegaverse with no angst at all. Also a standalone!

I read this as an ARC

If I could give this book higher than 5 I absolutely would!! This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read.

I absolutely loved all the feelings I got from reading this book, it was cosy, academic and so romantic all at the same time!! This book has healed something in me that I didn’t know needed healing.

Chase has got to be my favourite alpha because you’re telling me he’s stupidly tall, tattooed and is the gentlest with animals? Say no more!!! The cat!!!! I screamed! I’m not saying anymore than iykyk!!

I just loved how all the characters were seen in this book, they weren’t told or expected to lesser themselves but instead fully embrace it. This book was beautifully written and needs to be read by all immediately! I can’t wait to see where it goes next…

I also loved the authors note at the end, it was honestly such a beautiful book and I can’t wait to read it again!

There was nothing I didn’t like, I loved every second of this book.

So cute. So charming. So cozy.

That’s my best summation of this book. I am relatively new to Omegaverse stories and this felt like a great introduction to the “science” or thought processes behind the concepts.

All of the characters felt more mature than freshmen and sophomores in college, which I’m not saying is a bad thing. I appreciated how much they communicated with each other and tried to “hear” others’ points of view.

There are two tells for me that show how I feel about a book (and/or series):
- do I want to read the next book (even if it focuses on a different main character)?
- do I want to own a physical copy of the book even after having read the ARC?

This is a big, but old “YES” to both! I can’t wait to hear Sophie’s story.

Thank you so much to the author for the opportunity to read this book prior to publication.

This is one of those books you need to sit and have time you can give it yours total commitment.
It's a new author for me and she's very through in her explanations and how she sees her OV world.
Each character is so well flashed out they could walk off the page and breathe as if they were alive.

You start with Elodie, a freshmen and big enthusiastic bug lover, her goal in village is to graduate with this cat track course she's on and into bigger better bug habitats.
What she didn't see, the 4 men who see her and fall hard, Alex, Chase, Adrian, and Jamie mills that Elodie is the one for them but they know she's determined to focus on school not boys.

This is definitely is one for the libraries that you will want to read again and again when you want that sweet cozy but girl smarts.

ARC Review
I am a sucker for a FMC who is fiercely independent, but learns to lean on not just the love interest(s), but those around them. Watching Elodie learn to trust those around her with her dreams and aspirations as a young scientist. The pack is given an uphill battle to win Elodie over as she wants to remain independent and work towards her goals and not let biology hold her back. This book is one of the best examples of a cozy omegaverse book. The angst was low and the love between the chapters had me giggling and kicking my feet. This was a nice book to wind down my night with because the characters felt homey to me.

It’s a super cozy autumnal read. It’s cute and I loved Elodie’s passion for the insects but girl for being a budding scientist prodigy you sure were in denial of your own biological nature. The girl got in her own way soooooooo many times! Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt for this scientist.

Her men were great but didn’t feel fully fleshed out and it’s not even a short book. They were distinct which I liked, but otherwise everything was surface level getting to know them.

There were plenty of times where I had to stop and put the book down as the repetitive wording got in the way of the story, but the bones of the story kept me coming back to keep reading it.

Arc read giving my review happily 🥰

This books is so cute!! From Elodie pursuit of her degree and unwillingness to back down from her education and career was so refreshing to read.

I loved the diversity in the pack from the academic, the athlete, the jokester and the protective it was fun to see their dynamic and how each one brought out different things with Elodie.

Can’t wait for the next one!!

BETA/ARC Review of Written in Scent by Sofia Rose🩷🦋

I AM FULLY OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK. Like genuinely, emotionally attached 😭🩷 Written in Scent completely stole my heart, and Elodie is EASILY one of my favorite FMCs this year. I loved how passionate, intelligent, and stubborn she was, especially when it came to being seen as Elodie and not just an omega. Her journey of realizing she doesn’t have to constantly prove herself or earn love absolutely DESTROYED me in the best way🥹 I just wanted to wrap her up and protect her from the entire world.

And the PACK??? HELLO???? I was absolutely NOT normal about these men. Jamie is literally a golden retriever in alpha form and I fell for him immediately. Adrian is the sweetest angel, Chase is six-five, tattooed, broody, secretly obsessed with animals and basically a giant softie??? I NEED HIM. And Alex’s quiet, steady dominance??? EVERYTHING. Every single one brought something completely different, and somehow they were all PERFECT for Elodie. Watching her finally let them in had me in tears, literally ready to stand up and applaud. 😭

I also adored Noodle because obvs I would die for that little baby🥹 And Sophie was such an important part of Elodie’s journey. I loved watching Elodie slowly open her heart, find confidence in herself, and realize she deserved to be loved exactly as she is. The relationships felt so loving and genuine, and I loved how much they actually communicated and listened to each other, just warmed my heart🥹🩷

This book was just ADORABLE, and somehow still had me completely feral. 😭🩷 I laughed, melted, screamed internally, and became emotionally attached to an entire fictional pack. Written in Scent is EASILY one of my favorites this year, and I would give anything to erase my memory and experience it all over again. Now my girl Sofia, I love you, this was amazing now please give me Sophie’s story IMMEDIATELY🥹🙏🏼🩷

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
