A Dangerous Love From A Houston Menace: An Urban Standalone

A DANGEROUS LOVE

When Zaria Williams locks eyes with Kamari "Mari" Jackson across a crowded Houston nightclub, she knows he's trouble. What she doesn't know is that trouble will become her addiction—and walking away will prove impossible.

Mari is Houston's most dangerous trap fine, unhinged, and possessive to a fault. He doesn't do boundaries, doesn't understand the word "no," and has never met a line he wouldn't cross for what's his. Zaria is bad and bougie with a smart mouth and a career she's worked hard for—the kind of woman who should know better. But from their first night together, the chemistry is explosive, the obsession mutual, and the toxicity undeniable.

What starts as love-bombing quickly spirals into surveillance, jealousy, and retaliation. They test each other, hurt each other, and drive each other insane—but neither can walk away. Because beneath the chaos is something a love so intense it feels like possession, so dangerous it should be illegal, so consuming it rewrites everything they thought they knew about devotion.

Mari will burn the world down to keep her. Zaria will match his crazy every single time. Together, they're a beautiful disaster—toxic, violent, and completely addicted to each other.

But can a love built on obsession transform into something that won't destroy them both? Or are some people just meant to crash and burn together?

A raw, unfiltered dark romance about two people who love as dangerously as they live—and the brutal work required to turn toxic devotion into forever. From the author of Surrogate to an Unhinged Mafia Boss and 72 Hours with an Unhinged Menace.

psychos !

These people were CRAZY. Legit two psychos. I’m not gonna lie around 35%, I was done with the shenanigans. The introduction to Marcel was so random. Felt surface but overall okay.

I didn’t like that some of the text were in quotes like a dialogue and other parts weren’t. Should’ve stayed consistent. The headers images were also smushed. Some of the chapters had the wrong POV.

I got 25 percent in and I was too exhausted to finish. Where was the plot? It’s just them going tit for tat? That is boring, exhausting and I cannot read 500 plus pages of bullshi…

Unhinged

If you’re looking for a sweet, healthy romance… this is NOT it—and that’s exactly why I loved it!

Zaria and Mari are both toxic, possessive, and completely unhinged. Neither one of them is innocent, and honestly, they were made for each other. Every time you think one of them has gone too far, the other somehow manages to top it.

One of my favorite scenes had me laughing out loud:

“I’m gonna siphon the gas out the tank and seal it with Gorilla Glue.”

Tell me… who do you think actually did it? 😂 That one line perfectly sums up the level of chaos these two bring to the table.

Their relationship is messy, obsessive, and full of outrageous moments that keep you turning the pages. If you enjoy dark urban romance with morally gray characters, nonstop drama, and a couple that matches each other’s crazy energy, this book is definitely for you.

This is absolutely a must-read!

Mari and Zaria, Healing Makes Us Better

This book was a hard one for me!!!…It truly exhausted me mentally and emotionally!!!…
The toxicity that was btwn Mari and Zaria was scary at some moments, because to know someone loves you to this extreme or can turn or play with you emotionally and mentally is crazy work!!!…
When they truly got to the bottom of Mari issues, my heart broke!!!…Some truly don’t understand how deep the feeling of abandonment goes and how it affects your everyday living!!!…
I was glad that Zaria’s father and Mari’s mother suggested the therapy and they were open to go!!!…
This book touched on some real life issues and struggles!!!…
I stopped this book a few times to get it together, and I got through it!!!…I’m glad I stayed the course, because it was certainly worth the journey!!!…

‼️‼️

Once again Brickhouse has managed to make me rethink everything I thought I knew! Everytime I read her books I gotta rethink my priorities. This book took me through it in the best way possible! I loved it from start to finish. ZaMari Jackson is everything I never knew I needed! That man is poster child for be careful what you ask for! I need to know where I can get one of them!? Zaria is my hero!! Her journey and experiences were so necessary and the way she navigated was everything! Her level of petty was unmatched and I loved it. This was an amazing story and experience! 10/10 Highly recommend

Sweetie's Book Review

This book is a very good read. The storyline is great and it captures some real life relationship issues. This book had me mad one chapter then laughing in another chapter. Kamari and Zaria are both toxic in a relationship. Read the book to see how toxic they both are and what will happen to them. Read the book to see if Kamari can change to save his relationship and to see if Zaria can change. I think they were made for each other. Read the book to see if their relationship can survive or if they will go their separate ways and find happiness with someone else. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

🎶 Love on the Brain & Chaos in the Heart 🎶

If toxic had a love language, Mari and Za would be fluent. 😮‍💨😂 Their entire relationship had me hearing Rihanna's Love on the Brain because common sense left the chat the minute these two locked eyes.
What should've been a one-night stand turned into obsession, stalking, excessive text messages, sculptures flying at heads, white powder in Miami, and a beatdown that Shayla will never forget. And somehow, through all the chaos, these two unhinged souls found their perfect match.
An MMC and FMC equally committed to the madness? Sign me up! @authorbrickhouse did NOT disappoint with A Dangerous Love from a Houston Menace. 🔥📚

Good read

I enjoyed the book. It definitely was a toxic rollercoaster. But by the end it was like I got bored with it and had to push through to finish. I’m not sure what I was expecting. I hate that the character Marcel just abruptly faded out. I was confused at one chapter because it was Marcels part but Mari’s name. & I caught that the author changed Mari’s middle name mid book. It went from Malik to Deshawn. Lol players mess up. But overall it was a good read and I’d definitely recommend it

This story was everything toxic, passionate, chaotic but somehow it was all wrapped into a dangerous love that turned beautiful.

I really loved seeing Kamari’s character development throughout the story. Watching him slowly learn how to let his guard down, be vulnerable, and actually love was one of my favorite parts. Zaria and Kamari both grew in their own ways, and I loved seeing how their relationship developed along with them.

The mess was definitely messing 😂, but somewhere along the way, I grew to love their love story. 🤎

Mari and Zaria

Kamari and Zaria was a hot mess!!!! I wish Zaria matched his toxic early on cause baby he was not playing he knew that was his end game and he had no issues with showing how far he was willing to go to make sure he didn’t leave. Shayla deserved every bit of that beat down. If Marcel played his cards right he would have sung Zaria right out her draws no lie. These two nut cases deserved each other.

👏👏👏👏👏👏

That’s every day couples in real life lol Ying and Yang when she cut up that couch and made a purse I fell over lol I just don’t understand why men can’t stay faithful during a break because Mari took petty too far but shayla knew he wasn’t leaving her alone she walked into his pettiness 👀 wide open and she got belt to ssa as a result great story coming from you

Toxic is the name of the game

The way these two fools found each other...they deserve each other. It was funny. I was cheering on the tomfoolery and shaking my head at the rest. I was sad for the temporary break up but glad they found their way back. Therapy and all. Mari was over the top but that's the name of the game.

If this book say “your crazy” “I know, and you love it” he wasn’t wrong ONE MORE TIME. Everything she said to him he repeated the same damn line and she repeated the same damn “he wasn’t wrong”. They were both irritating, and matter how fine he is, that clingy stuff is for the birds. I don’t want nobody that I can’t breathe my own air around. Wasn’t my kind of love story.

Great read

Whew Kamari was a lot to take he was crazy but she was just as crazy. I do understand he koved hard but he finally realized that his way was more suffocating than anything... im glad they got it together. I really think they should have kept the baby but I did understand that too. Great read!

Brickhouse is Brilliant

This toxic tale was sooooo realistic. Not everyone is toxic, but if they are yhen they take toxicity to another level. Mari and Za matched each other's toxic energy one trying to outdo the other. But then the decision of whether or not to work at getting better at being better approaches. It was very engaging to see what path they actually chose.

Liked the real

This was good. The therapy the fights the love. Them understanding one another. The author gave us time to really care about the characters. That always makes it a page turner. Of course loved the happy ending. I would like to hear it in audible. I know it would be funny 🤣. I'll look for more from this author.

entertaining!

This was such a ride. Mari was in a state of delusion and he didn’t want to get out of it. He is the most delusional character I’ve read in a while! Zaria should have ran for the hills, out the country, changed her identity lol because Mari was unglued!!!!

Toxic Love

This was definitely a toxic relationship between Zaria and Mari. Mari fell hard for Za and she fell hard for him. He was possessive and obsessed and so was she and they were totally in love.

too toxic for me

That’s not what love should be. Even for an urban love story it was just not right for me. They worked their way to doing the right thing in the end but too much of the plot was focused on the toxicity.

Toxicity at its best!

Za and Mari were made for each other, this wild ride of chaos, jealousy and toxic love was a great read. Through all the chaos, real love stands tall and is unbreakable. The growth from both Mari & Za is beautiful! I couldn’t stop reading!

Toxicity At Its Finest!!

I didn't know what to expect from the title but I absolutely loved it! I don't condone DV at all but I love the way Mari and Za loved one another. Minus the prettiness back and forth, they were perfect for one another.
