Can a Librarian get her hooks in a smoking' hot ladies man?
Burke has come back home after the death of his brother and when Tasha sees him she gets hot all over. But this hottie would never take a second look at a big girl, he always had the beautiful girls hanging onto him in school. At least that's how Tasha feels.
Burke is in a funk having just lost his brother, what he didn't expect was to feel all tingly when he sees Tasha.
Can these two come together after a night of wild passion? Tasha will take one night, after all she'll never get a chance like this again, but will it be enough for Burke?

Bare Instincts
A good book with its ups and downs. Pretty likable characters and a story that kept me entertained. If you’re a fan of shifters and destined mates, this is a series you may enjoy.

Ahh, so I have mixed feelings on this book. I liked the first book, but found it had too much sexual content for me (can there really be too much you ask? Yes, there can be if it feels like most of the book is filled with sex scenes that don't feel necessary to the story line.) I actually liked this one better in some areas and less in others. One reader indicated that she didn't feel the same connection between the characters as she did with Storm and Chey. I have to agree. Perhaps because Tasha and Burke were fated from birth, but both ignored / fought it. And yet, I liked the build up between them. Tasha was not the confident person Chey was, but maybe that is why their relationship worked so well. Opposites attract and all, and your best friend should be able to build you up when needed. However, because of this lack of confidence, Tasha didn't trust that she and Burke were mates and this insecurity drove me crazy. By his own admission, he understood why she was afraid to believe he wanted her and only her given his past. He worked hard and he played hard and settling down with one woman wasn't part of the plan. At least, not until he returned home and reevaluated his life after his brother's death.
Interestingly enough, I did like Burke. Yep, he was a player and owned up to it, but that was before coming back. And once he did, and she and he did hook up, he decided to stop fighting that instinctual pull between them and did not look at another woman sexually since. Now here is where the book started to go downhill for me. Sex. Lots of it, again. I get the intent is that the sexual draw should help cement the belief that they belong together, but it felt a little forced. The scene with Chey seeing him with another woman felt wrong too. Chey is too confident to just walk away and not confront him. And Tasha's response was just plain rude. So yeah, some really good elements and some that just didn't sit well with me, but again, others may love the whole story. If you like paranormal books and read the first one and liked it, then by all means, read Tasha's story.

In book two in the Hidden Hills Shifters series, Tasha is a bear shifter who’s big boned and a little chubby. She’s a bear, after all. Back in high school, she felt an undeniable attraction to a fellow bear shifter, a boy she’d known all her life, but Burke never found her attractive and made fun of her for being big. He preferred the skinny, wild girls. Fast forward eleven years and they meet again after Burke’s drug addict brother dies. Burke starts to reevaluate his live-free, party-hard ways and finally acknowledges the secret attraction he always felt for Tasha.
Tasha is stubborn, smart, and strong-willed. She’s a normal, shy woman with body issues. I really liked her, but I couldn’t connect with Burke. He pursued Tasha because he couldn’t control his lust, not because he cared about her, at least not at first. I got this book free by signing up for the author's newsletter. Tasha Wilder, librarian, meets up with Burke when he comes home for his brothers funeral. Everybody said that bears would be able to recognize their mates.Will they be able to overcome their differences ? This book in the series is told from the position of the bear shifters in Hidden Hills. Book 1 was told from the position of the cheetahs. The long story is developing very well making the reader want to continue learning more about the town.

Even though she is heavy she knows how men r cause they r always wanting women skinny, sexy, etc. When she finally realizes the truth about him actually being her mate it's hard 2 believe especially cause of his playboy past. It's hard when u doubt things and leg wild ideas Interfere with what could b the truth cause of others jealousies. It was awesome when she told him 2 prove and he did. Can't wait 4 more asap.

This was a really good book. When the sudden death of his brother brings playboy Burke home to his family, he is determined to change his life for a more stable and meaningful one. When an old friend named Tasha hugs him and gives him her condolences he doesn't know what to think of the unexpected spark. Is this what he is looking for? Who knows!

Great book for the second in the series. It can be read as a stand-alone. Bear shifters and finding out through a second chance that they were mates all along, throw in a few twists and turns along the way, genius and you have a winner. Enjoy!

Once again Vella day does it! Makes me wonder if she is a shifter (lol). I love how she captured the stubbornness of Tasha & Burke's bears. Another journey in Hidden Hills, well written, between fated mates!

Great Second book in the Hidden Hills shifters series & The characters have such warmth, and wit. Oh , yes there is conflict and unrest but everyone is intertwined and you want to know everything about everyone.
When I read this story, I could feel the muted strains of grief running thru the book because Burke Devereaux’s older brother died from a drug overdose. You know right away, this is going to be a deeply emotional tale so I am ready to get started.
When the story started, Tasha Wilder was getting the news from her dad and his friend, Mr Devereaux. She finds out that Burke is coming back to town. Years ago , Tasha was head over heels for Burke but he couldn’t see Tasha , because she was overweight and was the Alpha’s daughter while he was the star athlete , handsome Bear , and Beta’s son. Tasha plans to be cordial and go on her way because she knows that he is her mate but he will never see that in her and she can’t stand to be hurt when he rejects her and Tasha just feels he will based on what he was in the past.
Burke Devereaux comes back into town an almost broken Bear. His older brother is dead and Burke feels so responsible for not keeping him from the drugs and booze. Burke is afraid he is going to lose it. The death of his brother brought him back to his parents town but Burke doesn’t know what the town holds for him. He runs into Tasha Wilder again and her scent drives him crazy. If not for his brother’s death, I think Burke would have known right t away she was his mate.
There were twists and turns in this emotional story. Did they or didn’t they get together. Also the two songs that I could hear in my mind as I read this book was “ I Will Return” By Skylar Grey & “Dangerous” by David Guetta”—Just listen to those lyrics and listen to the songs and the beats fit this book to a “T”. This is such an emotion yet erotic story, I loved the cast of characters ,especially the H/h. Cant wait for book 3.

I have mixed feelings on this book. I really loved the first one but this seemed really difficult to get into for me. It was slow at times. Although Tasha and Burke seemed to be mates...I wasn't feeling their connection on an emotional level not compared to Storm and Chey. Tasha seems to be a little too insecure and thought she was too hard on Burke a lot. Yes, he was a womanizer especially in his past and even before his brother died. Since that happened though he's changed and not even on that but on a lot of things in his life. I just think she should have given him the benefit of the doubt. Reason I say that is he NEVER gave her a reason to doubt him. So, not sure why her attitude was what it was concerning him. Not says she shouldn't be wary but give the guy a chance. Get to know him...neither one really knew each other...they pretty much had sex a lot and there was a little too much banter and talking during their seduction. I dunno it was WEIRD. When I finished I was like I think I am done with the series. There's just nothing to keep me going or pull the reader in. At least in the first one there was some sort of conflict to make it interesting...this one there was nothing. I mean his brothers death wasnt even talked about much....when was the funeral for instance? Nothing was mentioned. Weird right? Sorry...just not for me.

This is book 2 in the Hidden Hills Shifters series. You do not need to read book one to enjoy this story, even though there is a history between the two main characters. Tasha finds out from her father that one of her old friends Tom has just died in an overdose while with his brother Burke. When she asks her father and Burke's father if she can do anything to help she is told just be willing to be there for Burke if he needs it. While Tasha does not think Burke will seek her out (she does not feel like they are close), when he walks into the cafe where they all are he accepts a condolence hug from Tasha and then she leaves the cafe. That night Tasha and friends are in the town's bar with her trying to forget about her friend dying, Burke comes in with a friend with the same objective in mind. When he gets a little too drunk he ends up sleeping it off at Tasha's house and the romance starts from there. Once they get going the attraction never stops even though neither one thinks they are good for the other. Both Tasha and Burke sort of think they are mates, but neither one is willing to ask for advice from their parents about recognizing your mate so they almost lose each other over a minor misunderstanding. This book has a really good storyline and is not all about the steamy sex! I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Vella Day is a great author. This makes like the 3rd book I have read of hers. I have not been disappointed.
Tasha Wilder is a beautiful plus size Bear Shifter librarian and daughter of the Alpha of the clan. Pretty much looked at as royalty. Most man shifters would not look at her way for that reason. She never thought she could have a hot sexy man look her way, especially Burke Devereaux due to her size. Tasha was one that did not see how beautiful she really was.
Burke Devereaux was this hot sexy Bear Shifter, who was son of the beta of the clan. He was a wild one. He loved to party and have sex. He was known for being a player. The death of his brother brought him back home. What he did not know was what lied ahead. He would have to sort out the feelings he was feeling for Tasha.

These strong captivating characters are easily related to and demand to tell their story and the reader has no choice but to follow along as their attraction has Burke and Tasha's inner beasts going wild and destiny becomes impossible to deny. The sex scenes are hot and steamy, but the emotional issues and insecurities causes quite a bit of upheaval in the relationship department while the fast paced and smooth flowing plot ensnares readers with suspense, turmoil and romance.
Anticipation builds throughout the story as ex significant others interfere and different lifestyles threaten Burke and Tasha's happiness and the well written scenes and details bring the story to life while the well orchestrated events draw the readers in and refuse to let go.
I was completely ensnared by this fascinating shifter world with its sweet happily ever after that tugs at the heart and I can't wait to visit Hidden Hills again.

Burke Devereaux has just lost his brother to an overdose. When he comes back to Hidden Hills where he grew up he has no intention on staying put but for a few months in order to grieve and help his parents. When he sees Tasha Wilder a fellow bear shifter something makes him want her badly. Maybe it’s his bear instincts coming out but maybe it’s something deeper than that. Maybe he’s ready for something more. Burke wakes up Tasha’s inner bear to and she feels like it’s time to find her mate. Their bear instincts become bare instincts as they learn to love and trust.
This may be a paranormal shifter romance but it has the same components as any other contemporary tale of love and romance with a wilder side and a lot of steam heat that might wake up the reader’s inner animal and lust for more and the book does not disappoint. BARE INSTINCTS is a page turner and leaves the reader gasping and rooting for love to bloom between the main characters. I would give this 5 huge bare paws for awesome story telling.
Burke Devereaux has just lost his brother to an overdose. When he comes back to Hidden Hills where he grew up he has no intention on staying put but for a few months in order to grieve and help his parents. When he sees Tasha Wilder a fellow bear shifter something makes him want her badly. Maybe it’s his bear instincts coming out but maybe it’s something deeper than that. Maybe he’s ready for something more. Burke wakes up Tasha’s inner bear to and she feels like it’s time to find her mate. Their bear instincts become bare instincts as they learn to love and trust.
This may be a paranormal shifter romance but it has the same components as any other contemporary tale of love and romance with a wilder side and a lot of steam heat that might wake up the reader’s inner animal and lust for more and the book does not disappoint. This is the 2nd book in the series Hidden Hill Shifters.
Tasha Wilder is alpha daughter, bear shifter, royalty and the town librarian. She loves her job and spending time to read and read to the children. When, she finds out that Tom has OD and Burke was on his way back to town. Tasha had feels for Burke when they were in High school, but he would never return her feels towards her.
Burke Devereaux is a bear shifter who had grown up in the town. He likes to party and play. Burke knows that he does not want to settle down at this time in his life.
Burke can not understand why when he is near Tasha is has some feelings for her. Maybe when Tasha agrees to a one night stand, he can get her out of his system.

The second instalment of the Hidden Hills starts off sad as Tasha, a bear shifter, learns of the death of one of her clan. His brother, Burke, is returning to Hidden Hills for a while to spend time with his parents. Tasha knew Tom and Burke from childhood, and although she feels sorry for Burke, she isn't looking forward to seeing the player that he has turned into, not when she feels a strange pull to him that he obviously doesn't. Things have changed, however, and Burke isn't prepared to let Tasha go this time.
Another fast-paced edition that takes you deeper into the Hidden Hills. Instead of Cheetahs, we spend the time with the bears, and learn some differences between the two. Tasha and Burke are funny together as they step through the minefield of mates and misunderstandings. Thoroughly enjoyed this second book, and am looking forward to the third.

Burke Devereaux comes home after years following the death of his brother. When he gets home he sees his childhood friend, Tasha. Burke and Tasha use to be best friends until they became teens and Burke dumped her for other shifters because she didn't fit in. Burke is on a downward spiral and he doesn't know how to stop it from happening. When he returns to his hometown he just wants to forget everything and believes been with Tasha will make this happen. After a night of drinking the two of them end up at Tasha's where they spend the night together. Burke soon learns that Tasha is what has been missing from his life he just needs to get her to understand. Tasha doesn't believe that Burke is serious and fights him on being more than friends with benefits. Who will come out on top or are they just destined to be friends only. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone and has a HEA.

This book is GREAT! I Love Tasha, she is described as a "curvy" girl and I LOVE that, she does
have some self esteem issues but dont most women (shifters lol) She is a librarian, and doesnt even own a tv.
Burke is a playboy who has recently lost his brother Tom to an overdose (The only issue with this part of the story is I wanted to know what happened here)

I so loved Burke and Tasha! I loved this book so much, I read it twice. It is such a fast read, I could not get enough of these two :)
I always have to back the underdog.....or underbear in this one. Tasha is a BBW with a heart of gold and I was so happy to see her HEA with Burke. The journey wasn't easy, but they did it! Super excited now and can not wait until book 3. I'm sure it is just as hot and juicy as this one.
This had a lil bit of everything. Loved the storyline, the characters and their dialogue.
This can be read as a stand alone. Multi pov.
Would I recommend this book? Heck ya!
Would I read more from this author? Yep! Vella is one of my favorites to read.

I thought that this book was pretty good as it did have shifters in it. Although I haven't read the 1st book in this series I did understand what was going on so it's great that you can read the book as a standalone. Burke & Tasha's story has lots of hot sex in it as every time those 2 got together they would wind up having sex; both of them thought that the other was their mate but they weren't sure if they wanted to say it out loud so they avoided talking about it. Burke & Tasha didn't have a lot in common other than their feelings for one another but in the end after a separation they admitted their feelings for each other. I think that I will now have to read the 1st book in this series along with any that come after this one.

Loved the storyline and the characters. The storyline was entertaining and flowed smoothly, and the characters were amazing. I was really glad to see that she had a backbone. I love my main female characters vulnerable but strong at the same time and that came across perfectly. I also thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Burke and Tasha as she got used to him, really sweet. However I did find the sex scenes at times were a little dragged out and could have been limited at times. Otherwise I really enjoyed this book!

Great story about opposites attract and relationships that will always have ups and downs but friends will help you through the worse of it. Tragedy of loosing his brother, Burke goes back home to Hidden Hills and finds his childhood friend Tasha, the alphas daughter and the one girl/woman he always felt the mate connection to, but staying there he and his brother went to Pennsylvania and be the playboys they always wanted to be until his brother overdosed. Also Chey and Storm will get married at the end of this story. Cant wait for more to come.

They have been friends for years and have always felt a connection to each other. So they finally act on it and he knows she's his mate but she thinks he could never want a big woman like her.
Lots of sex. A very insecure woman. And a reformed playbook. It was a little confusing at first because the dialogue was sort of mixed up and you couldn't tell who was saying what.

Nice story with a sad beginning, with the overdose of his brother bringing Burke home, back to Tasha.
They both have been feeling special attraction to each other in the past and that is back now in full blast.
Only with her low self esteem she can't believe a hot guy like Burke has these feelings for her.
She decides to enjoy the moment, but what when her feelings for him get more and more?
Will they work there differences out together?
For that you have to read the book, you won't regret it if you are into shape shifters, but even if you are not into them this is a great story
