Something Borrowed by Kimberly Kincaid is my first book by this author and was such a pleasant surprise! The characters were loveable, the settings gorgeous, the chemistry sizzling, and was just a fun read. This book was generously provided by the author for an honest review.

Sasha Arrington might have taken a little longer than some to find what she wanted to do with her life. She feels like this is it, though. She loves to cook and is in culinary school. Her kitchen partner has become her best friend, James Sullivan. Even though James is oh so sexy, Sasha is not going to go there. She knows that relationships don’t last, her own track record is evidence. She doesn’t want anything to spoil the friendship she and James have built.

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en

Sasha gets the shock of her life when her twin brother announces he is getting married, and the wedding is going to be in Ireland where his fiance’s family lives. Sasha is happy for her brother, she really is. But spending three days with her parents is not something to look forward to. Her parents are divorced, and both of them love to spend their time pointing out everything Sasha is doing wrong in her life, her lack of a man, of a career.

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en

James has been suffering for months, thinking of his sexy kitchen partner, Sasha, in every way EXCEPT as a friend. When Sasha tells him about the wedding, the perfect plan forms in his mind. He can volunteer to go with her, to be her ‘wingman’ to keep her parents diverted. To pose as her boyfriend. With the beautiful setting, he will have three days to convince Sasha that they are perfect together as more than just friends.

“She was going to make it tough to get past her anti-relationship armor. But if Sully excelled at anything, it was finding a way to get what he wanted.”

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en

In the beautiful Willow Creek, Ireland, Sasha and Sully’s chemistry wins over and Sasha’s heart begins to open. But they are in Ireland, in this beautiful setting with romance everywhere. Relationships don’t last, her own parents the best example of that. So does Sasha really want to risk losing her best friend for what is sure to be a temporary friends with benefits interlude?

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en

This story was so cute and sexy. Sully was determined to convince Sasha that they could be more than just friends. But is he manipulating her just like her own parents do by going on this trip under false pretenses? Sasha was so adorable as she slowly let down her walls and let Sully in. These two were perfect for each other. The question is, can Sully convince Sasha that all relationships aren’t destined to fail? That they can be good together as more than just friends?

Fun, fluffy read for the most part. 3.75 stars rounded up.

Sully - He tells it like it is and goes after what he wants.
He’d heard about the handful of losers she’d casually gone out with over the last seven months, quickly learning that Sasha was impervious to any guy whose name wasn’t formally registered at Douchebags R Us.

“Wait…” A muscle ticked in Sully’s clean-shaven jaw, and he stepped in even closer toward her. “You think you’re defective?”
Sasha rushed to qualify. “Not in a pity-party sort of way. It’s just kind of the truth. I mean, my dating history pretty much resembles a pileup on the freeway, and I can’t please either of my parents, although Lord knows, I’ve tried. I couldn’t even nail down a career without a couple of strikeouts first. What on earth should make me think I’d have what it takes to make a relationship work out, when the odds are stacked against me like that?”
“Sasha?” Sully looked at her, his hazel gaze completely indecipherable, and her belly tensed as she braced for impact.
“Yeah?”
“Respectfully? I think you’re full of shit.”
A laugh flew from Sasha’s lips without consulting her brain, unravelling her nervousness in one sweet snap. “You do.”
“Yeah, I do.”

Sasha was absolutely stunning, more so than she’d ever been. Standing there with time slowed down and nothing in the world in front of him except for what mattered most, Sully thought maybe it wasn’t so far-fetched that Sasha would want to be with him in the long run. Maybe if he told her the truth, she’d say yes. Just then, Sasha looked up and their eyes locked. She smiled at him with her flawless combination of attitude and pure honesty, and Sully felt it in the center of his chest, in places he’d swear never existed until she’d unearthed them. There was no way he wouldn’t end up with her. If he wanted something, he went out and got it. No halfway. No exceptions. And he wanted Sasha.

* Sasha is running scared but she comes around.
“Looks like Sully’s having a good time,” Jace noted.
“That’s because Sully could have a good time in a morgue.”
“He’s not your usual fare, that’s for sure.”
Just like that, Sasha’s carefree mood slipped. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Well,” her brother started, leaning an elbow over the polished cherry wood of the bar as he looked at her more closely. “I guess it’s supposed to mean he’s not a dick.”

How did he not just hear her, but get her so easily?

“What drives me crazy the most is the way you fight what you want.”
“I want you,” she blurted, the words heating her face even though they were true.
“Then let me in.” His kiss was surprisingly soft, just a brush of his lips over hers. “Do you trust me?” “Yes.” Sasha didn’t even think twice.
“Then let me show you how good this can be.” Sully coaxed her mouth open with a gentle slide of his tongue, his kiss both deep and reverent. His hands pressed into the wall over her shoulders, his body caging hers, but she felt far from trapped. She felt protected. Cared for. Perfect.

“Hey. I know things can get a little…heated when we’re between the sheets,” he said.
“That’s a hell of an understatement, but whatever blows your skirt up.”
“I think I’ve already established that I’d rather blow your skirt up,” Sully flipped back.

I've had my ups and downs with this author, and at this point, I believe it is a case of me just not fitting with her writing style, rather than any fault of hers. This was a short story, a perfect example of a fake boyfriend trope, and yet I kept wanting more out of it than what was there. I had a hard time really caring about the romance between Sasha and Sully, for a few reasons. First, because the story really seemed to be over to me before it began. Second, I had a hard time connecting with them, because we don't really get in depth with them, probably due to the short nature of the story. Finally, it seemed that the story focused more on getting through the wedding and having sex than actually giving us a look at how Sully wooed Sasha. It did give me a giggle every time Sully was mentioned, as I kept picturing the big, furry monster from Monsters, Inc.! All things considered, this was a decent enough story, but nothing special.

Received a free copy of Something Borrowed by Kimberly Kincaid and I loved it! It is the story of Sasha Arrington and James "Sully" Sullivan. They are table partners in culinary school. Sasha needs a date for her brother's upcoming wedding in Ireland. Sully volunteers to do Sasha's fake boyfriend so that she can avoid some of the parent's drama. Sasha's parents are very critical of her and all her life choices and the fact that she has not settled down yet, hence the reason she needs Sully to accompany her to the wedding. Sasha's parents are divorced and each have remarried several times. Therefore, Sasha does not believe in happily ever after love. The room her father reserves for them only has one bed, and both Sasha and Sully sleep fitfully the first night. The following night Sasha proposes to Sully that they start a what happens in Ireland stays in Ireland relationship. Sasha treasures Sully's friendship and does not want to jeopardize their friendship, when their relationship ends, because she knows that it will. Something Borrowed is filled with bittersweet moments and steamy love scenes, that are the norm for Kimberly. Kimberly is an amazing story teller and I really loved Something Borrowed. Once again there is the surprise plot twist that jeopardizes Sasha and Sully's relationship. Highly recommend. Outstanding story.

Hot and sweet!

This story had me laughing and falling in love with the characters from page one. I love a book that draws me in so completely in just a few paragraphs. I definitely recommend this one if you want a short, sexy, but sweet read.

Sasha Arrington’s twin brother Jace is getting married near Dublin, Ireland. Although she’s happy for him, Sasha is cynical about happy-ever-afters; she’s never been lucky in love. Sasha is something of an eternal student, her recent foray being culinary school. James Sullivan – Sully – is Sasha’s station partner at their school, and he’s had a crush on her from the beginning, 7 months ago. Sasha considers him a best friend, so when she needs a date for her brother’s wedding, she asks Sully, who is very happy to comply but does he have a hidden agenda…

SOMETHING BORROWED is a great romance! It’s young, fresh, the characters feel genuine, and I positively loved Sully! It’s so nice for once to have a hero who is a nice guy! While Sasha is jaded, Sully is ever the optimist, and they make a great pair. SOMETHING BORROWED is beautifully written, flows smoothly, it has snappy dialogue and great characters, among other the leads and Sasha’s parents. And best of all, there is not a cliché is sight! It’s poetic, lovely; it’s exactly the kind of romance I like!

This was a short, sweet (with a hint of spice) read. Sully is the man every woman wants. He's sweet, consideration and totally head over heals for Sasha. He does everything in his power to prove to her that she can believe in him and that maybe fairy tales do exist. Sasha has lived a life that has left her cynical and jaded, and I love her conflicting emotions throughout the story. There's a carefully crafted emotional dance going on on the inside. Can she, should she, will she? The family dynamic was unfortunately written so well that it resembles many actual families today. Gigi was something else, and Sasha's father came off as cold and difficult.

I loved the difference that could be seen between Sasha's family and Delaney's family. The Irish clan came off as so loving and close knit, and helped to bring about Sasha's inner conflict over her relationship with Sully. Overall, I loved this story and I would recommend it to any romance lover.

Sasha doesn't believe in love, but she's determined to be there for her brother in his Irish wedding, but even sisterly love can't make her spend the holidays with her manipulative and overly critical parents alone. She needs a sidekick and her culinary school station partner Sully is the perfect wing man, handsome, charming and fun to be with, he'll wow her parents and run interference with her parents ... and if thing get a bit steamy - what happens in Ireland stays in Ireland.
In Something Borrowed Kimberly Kincaid has spun a story that is sweet and steamy, funny and sad - a story you'l find hard to put down and leave you cheering for the good guys and marvelling at the way Sasha's parents put the fun in dysfunctional.
I loved this one.

Station partners in culinary school, Sully agrees to be Sasha's date for her brother's wedding in Ireland. A date in name only though suddenly turns into so much more as they have to admit that there is something real between them. I enjoyed the banter between the two of them. The sexy times were heated and intense. This story had a fair amount of emotion too as Sasha starts to figure out that having Sully as a lover doesn't have to end when they get back home, if she can only get past her own feelings of not measuring up. Sweet and sexy story!

Fantastic story!! Fun quick read. Loved the characters, their chemistry jumped from the pages. Sasha Arrington has kept James Sullivan in the friend zone for way to long. When Sasha needs James to stand in as a pretend boyfriend and attend her brothers wedding he plans to show her how good it could be between them if she'd only give him a chance.

This is one I definitely recommend.

When you have survived your parents divorce and numerous re-marrying, you become a little skeptical about relationships, especially when the various dates you have had, always ended due to the guys being dudes, as far as their trustworthiness. So when a friend suggests covering you as a date for your twins wedding, you are concerned about the possibility of loosing a friend, rather than the possibility of finding a person to have a relationship with.
This is the crux of this book. I know, personally, to have felt this way for my own reasons. Friends are hard to come by, and tak8ng the physical route, is often the surest way of destroying that friendship. So, the story, from my point of view is more than plausible, and the author's story is also plausible.
I enjoyed this tale and found it entertaining and amusing.

Sasha is going to culinary school and is cynical about happily ever after. Sully is her station partner and friend. When her twin brother announces he’s getting married, in Ireland, Sasha gets Sully to be her pretend boyfriend to keep her divorced parents off her back. Sully has wanted Sasha since he met her but knows how she feels about relationships. He figures if he can show her how could they could be, he’ll get the girl. But when he tells her he’s always wanted her, she thinks she’s being manipulated and tells him to leave. Can he win her back or lose his friend and lover forever?
Wild, hot sex. Great story. Friends to lovers.

Another good quick read from Kimberly Kincaid. This story centres around the fear of failed relationships & not believing your strong enough to last through a relationship. With a fast engagement & wedding by her brother, the pieces are set into motion for a fake to real relationship between two classmates. Sasha & Sully are classmates & friends in culinary school but she doesn’t know how he really feels about her. The opportunity to be her fake boyfriend to throw her parents attention off her gives him the chance to prove they are good together. Chemistry is high between them but can it prove his point! Recommend to read.

When Sasha’s brother is getting married in Ireland and she is all stressed because she will have to face her parents, still single and her career not doing as well as her parents expect, her friend and work mate offers to go the trip with her acting as her date and love interest, Sasha takes him up on it.
The story was just what I needed, a quick read I could get lost in. It was charming with some sizzle and I would recommend it .

A fun, romantic, fake boyfriend story. When Sasha's brother decides to get married in Ireland, Sasha has to find someone to go with her to pose as her boyfriend or her parents will never let her hear the end of it. Sully is Sasha's best friend from culinary school and has had fantasies about what it would be like to be with Sasha. So he jumps at the chance to play the fake boyfriend in the hopes that truth mirrors fiction. Great quick read.

This was a nice, short and sweet romance with a bit a family drama great chemistry between leads. I wish more had been made of their 'culinary' connection, but the 'friends to lovers' and 'fake relationship' tropes were probably enough for one book. I'm 2 for 2 with this author as I also enjoyed Play Me. I'll be reading this author again!

Friends to lovers, one person is in love and the other is oblivious, and a fake relationship? All my catnip.

My only complaint is that I wish this had been longer. I would have enjoyed spending more time with these characters.

Short and easy read with likable characters. Sasha Arrington grew up with parents who are both several marriages in, and doesn't feel like love is a lasting thing. So she's shocked when her twin brother announces he's getting married to his girlfriend of 4 months - in a weeks time in Ireland no less! In addition to being worried about her brother, Sasha is stressed because of the pressure put on her by her parents for her lack of a career and lack of a relationship. When her station partner in cooking school, James Sullivan, offers to go along as her fake boyfriend, she jumps at the chance. Sully has wanted Sasha since they started training together 7 months ago, but he's been wary of disrupting their friendship, especially in light of her feelings on relationships. He takes the opportunity to show her they could be something, and during their time in Ireland they have a fling. I was really enjoying this book until towards the end when This just didn't make sense and was over the top. Other than that, I liked this story!

Sasha has been thrown for a loop. Her twin brother is getting married. In Ireland. Only a few days from now. Not believing in happy ever after, this comes as a shock but what she dreads more than anything is facing her divorced parents and their current spouses. So to take the pressure off, she and Sully, her culinary school partner, come up with a plan for him to go as her boyfriend. Sully has wanted her since he laid eyes on her and he sees this as his chance. But with her cynical side and non-belief in marriage, he has his work cut out for him. Will he be able to realize taking a chance on them is worth the risk?

A short story... sweet and nice... I really enjoyed Sully, the hero in this book.. he is a very dreamy book boyfriend material... the book is very short with only 9 chapters... The concept is really nice. I love Chefs and both hero and heroine are in culinary school. A hot man/woman who can cook is YUMMY!! the plot is good but the flow is not very consistent. I think Sasha, the heroine, is not as well written as Sully. I think the book should be longer because there definitely need more. The book also ends too abruptly. I would prefer the author writing an epilogue instead of giving us a deleted scene.

An otherwise enjoyable sweet read

Hot and delicious!

I truly loved this story between Sasha and Sully. There was a satisfying slow build to their love and enough hotness between them to keep it interesting. The author did an excellent job describing the characters till I felt as if I knew them like friends. I read through their love story in a day and a half. I was so enthralled with the romance of an Irish wedding, and Sully and Sasha working out their relationship, that I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book. It will transport you, and you won't be disappointed.

A quick fun read. What can be better than romance and food. Kimberly Kincaid does it right every time. Loved the story of Sasha and James. Sasha needs a stand in boyfriend for her brother's wedding in Ireland, so she asks her co-chef, James to be the stand in. Little does Sasha know, James has had a secret attraction to her for awhile. Now only if James can get Sasha to see how good they can be together. I so loved this story. Highly recommend.

This was sweet. Not one of the best stories I've read. It reminded me a lot of the movie The Wedding Date with Debra Messing and Dermont Melroney, with a little changes here and there.
Standalone book with mild sexual encounters. A story about a girl who because of what she grew up seeing doesn't believe in love or happily ever afters. But a friend whose had an eye on her since day one is willing to prove her differently.
