In Harlan Falls, everyone has a secret. Someone just paid for theirs with their life.
When Daniel Ellison is charged with the murder of his business partner, his wife, Hillary, hires the best lawyer money can buy. Yet Daniel is a hard man to defend. A hostile witness places him at the scene, his alibi doesn't hold, and the family is drowning in debt.

Ben Carter is a lawyer with a reputation. He's defended unwinnable cases, dismantled witnesses, and walked clients out of courtrooms that had already written them off. But someone has been bleeding the company accounts dry, the money trail points directly at his client, and the prosecution is sharpening it into a motive for murder.

In Harlan Falls, uncovering the truth and proving it in court are two very different things.

And the longer Carter digs, the more he suspects that the most dangerous secret in Harlan Falls isn't who killed Clayton Rolf.

It's why his own client doesn't want him to find out.

This ending rattled me

I genuinely enjoy this series, yet the conclusion of this book has me questioning whether I want to continue to the next installment. But you understand that peculiar dilemma—the need to discover what unfolds, coupled with reluctance to find out. I'm truly invested in this character and the supporting cast. This narrative has genuinely unsettled me. I'm hopeful that Ben's people will come through for him. I believe they truly have his—back.

Ben definitely got it handed it to him. His client betrayed him . The friend he thought he knew was not a friend. Whoever was Joshua Dean's boss was miles ahead of Carter. No surprise with end result. Interesting to see what happens next. 10 stars plus!!!! Thanks Carl Clause
