A true romantic thriller that will have you believing in the unseen…

Gabriel Donner has just lost both parents, and nearly his own life, in a tragic accident. And now he is experiencing something he just can’t handle on his own: psychic dreams, dreams that often end up in the morning paper.

In vivid detail Gabriel’s dreams show him a series of murders—almost as if he were committing them. Telling the police is out of the question. They would never understand how he could know so much and not be guilty. Gabriel reluctantly turns to Laura Dane, a psychic, for answers.

When Laura first comes to Oklahoma City, Gabriel doesn’t trust her. But as she helps him—and as their relationship turns into something more—can they stop the visions, and the murders?

Gabriel Donner survives the accident that took his parents but now he is troubled with hearing voices in his head and nightmares that come true. A family friend suggests that he consult with psychic, Laura Dane and invites her to Oklahoma.

Together Gabriel and Laura work together to figure out who is killing people and why Gabriel seems to be involved.

Not one of my favored books by Sharon Sala but it was okay. The mystery was a little obvious but the hows and whys and such were fun to discover. There were a few surprises that made the story worth reading.

Sharon Sala never ceases to amaze me with her epic plots. Truly my go to author when I was a great story, mystery, and romance.
This book kept me guessing.
When Gabriel loses his parents in a horrible car accident, he himself in a coma, his life is never the same.
Reoccurring dreams haunt him of murders that are actually already happening.
As victims pile up the police have dubbed the unsub “Prince Charming Serial Killer”, he must seek help and try to rid these demons in his head.
Laura Dane is his only help in getting back his sanity, his life, but can their time together keep them from falling head over heels in love?
A great, great book.

Outstanding

I give this book 5+++++ stars. The author storytelling and writing flows easily, keep you involved and exciting waiting to see what will happen next. This book has many twist and turns; you will began to challenge yourself in trying to find clues to identify who is the evil one. You must stay focused and involved or you will miss clues that will full the story together. One selfish act brings into play fear, pain, death, and greed m. This book will keep you on your toes. So if you enjoy supernatural occurrence and power you will love this book. Outstanding and well written.

I've had this book for years; it was one of the first I ever registered on Bookcrossing. It was in a box of books I was planning to give away... but instead I picked it up, read the back cover, and decided to read it!

So glad I did. A good mystery-suspense that brought me to tears at the end. So very sad.

Plot spoilers
Things were confusing, like wen he was coming out of the coma&the memories&voices he was hearing.

Since we started off in the nurse’s perspective, I thought she was the main character. I thought they’d just had sex the way she was describing things. Wen I read on I realized she was giving him a bath.

It was rly confusing when she kept bouncing around perspectives.

We switch over 2 a guy with a whore&she’s unbuttoning his pants&feeling him up&then sumthing weird happens, like he feels pain&hears a voice or something&I initially thought it was Gabriel. I was like wth is going on here?
It wasn’t until he killed her that I realized it was the killer. I didn’t like being in the shoes of a killer.

Gabriel was supposed 2 be a rly strong man, but wen I found out he lived in his parent’s home it kind of changed my opinion of him. &I was getting sick of hearing about the roses&his mother’s garden.

The book didn’t flow at all. It was chopped up into short segments&I just wanted a scene 2 fully play out.

He gets blood on himself&duznt remember wut he was doing outside. It’s clear he just cut himself on roses, but I don’t like that it’s played out that he’s a killer. Idk why an author wud want 2 make it seem like the main character is a murderer.

&of course, Mike suggests she stay in the house with Gabriel bcuz it wud “b more convenient 4 both her&Gabriel.” I’m sick of these unrealistic circumstances in romance books that throw the characters 2gether&make things play out so easy. Give me a concrete reason 2 make me c the sense in having complete strangers stay in the same house, not something as flimsy as “it’s convenient.”

I didn’t know wut I thought about her shaking his hand&getting a vision of them having sex.
It was kind of cute that her shirt sed I know what ur thinking, bcuz she’s a psychic&all.

She says she needs a place where she can rest her head&he immediately thinks of her head resting on his chest. She’s trying 2 go 2 sleep&thinks of his manhood “hammering between her thighs.” Rly romantic, btw. The sexual descriptions came off as a little crude 2 me&I hate instant awareness.

The use of the words upon&beneath was rly getting on my nerves. Nobody talks like that, just say on&underneath 4 god’s sake.

He sees a curl hanging in front of her forehead&remembers nursery rhyme, which was a little childish 2 me. But neways, he pictures her underneath him&him touching the curls. Slow down 4 god’s sake. I hate when romance authors rush things.

We jump 2 yet another person’s perspective&we get 2 hear about when he lost his virginity&him planning 2 go on a vacation somewhere 2 get laid. Wth?

“Shit,” he muttered&then grinned at his own wit. Yes, it was shit. Shit on the ground. Shit that his vacation had been canceled. Then he remembered why he was there&sighed. &serious shit 4 the man who’d been murdered.
Wow. That was . . . clever.
It rly shows an author’s talent, or lack thereof, when they’re in the perspective of a side character&they’re filling it with sleazy details&dumb jokes that show their “wit.” The characters have the wit of the author&that ain’t saying much.

Inside his head, the dog’s bark had bcum a shrill, high-pitched scream with no end.
Reason died.
&so did the dog.
It was over in seconds.
“U crazy son of a bitch!” Stevie shrieked. “Wut hav u done?”
Then he erupted in a fit of rage that ended as swiftly as the dog’s bark had ben silenced.
Moments later, there was only 1 man standing.
I was like what the heck is going on here? This was poor writing, plain&simple. Things were confusing&I had 2 keep going back&rereading cuz I kept getting lost.

It wasn’t a mystery where I was intrigued. It was a confusing, messed up jumble.

The sound of a siren’s scream made her jump&without thinking, she ran 2 the door, intent on slamming it shut. Then she thought of Gabriel&her conscious pricked. If she shut the door, she wud be shutting him out. Life had already slammed 2 many doors in his face. She cudn’t bring herself 2 shut another.
Wth? Wut do u mean, w/o thinking she went 2 shut the door?
Uhh…when a door is open u shut it, esp when it’s at night&it’s wet outside. &if u shut the door u’d be shutting him out? All he has 2 do is twist the knob—& wa la!—the door’s open. It’s that simple. I don’t think he’d feel shut out bcuz u closed the door. &wut door has been shut in his face? The door 2 heaven? That wud be the only door & who wud want 2 die 2 get that door opened? &how wud u know anything about his life, u don’t even know him. God, that was so stupid.

I was rly starting 2 doubt Laura’s sanity when he implied he cudve been the murderer&she just stayed there. It was completely insane.
She goes out looking 4 him when he’s missing&when she finds him&sees his despair she obviously thinks it’s bcuz he killed some1&she runs. I was like finally, a normal&realistic reaction.

&then we jump on over 2 Gabriel perspective&it says she was coming closer. Was I the only person that thought she ran away&not towards him? This book was seriously playing tricks on me.

He actually believes he killed them. The main character believes he’s the killer.
I’ve never heard of such a thing. Who wud make their character a possible suspect 4 murder? Wth kind of story is that?

The writing absolutely falls apart wen she tries 2 describe things.
There was the sensation of weightlessness, couple with the intimacy of having ben separated from earth.
The intimacy of having ben separated from earth? I cud halfway understand had it ben the intimacy of joining the earth, but the intimacy of separating from the earth? How is separating from something intimate?

He didn’t want 2 think about his feelings 4 Laura, even tho they occupied a good deal of his conscious mind.
His feelings 4 her? Wut feelings cud he possibly have when she’s ben there for 2 days?

I thought Laura wud b afraid of him, but instead she’s acting like she’s mad, which didn’t make sense 2 me. Mike comes over&notices they’re not talking, but also sees their glances at each other, so it stemmed from their growing attraction 2 each other rather than from being angry. Who let themselves get involved with sum1 who cud be a serial killer? A nut job, that’s who.

She hears a crash from his room&goes in there 2 find him trying 2 escape. She grabs him 2 try 2 stop him until he comes 2&the author makes it up 2 b this life&death situation where he cudve killed her&she barely escaped death or something. It was ridiculous. He’s all afraid bcuz he cud’ve hurt her&all. It fell so flat. Sleepwalking&trying 2 open a window is not a threatening moment.

The romance in here was sorely lacking. There wasnt nething even remotely romantic about it.
He was so very, very sick of death. The need 2 feel life—& 2 feel alive—was overwhelming. He wanted 2 experience the inescapable surge of passion between man &woman&then lie replete in her arms.

She sighed&it was a gesture of relief&also of acceptance. Acceptance of wut he offered. Acceptance of her fate.
Calmed by the inevitability of this moment, she did as he asked.
Having sex be inevitable is not romantic. It’s blasé&it cheapens it.

The sex was so disappointing. There were no details&it lasted 4 less than a page. What the heck is that about?

He just had sex with her&he doesn’t even no nething about her, yet he’s saying she’s his&he nos who she is. I’m thinking that the 1st woman he had sex with since the accident cudve filled the role of “his”& that there was nothing that made her especially unique&important 2 him. &another funny thing (&wen I say funny I actually mean stupid, confusing&weird) was that she had a vision of his hands around her neck prior 2 her sleeping with him& after they sleep 2gether she has another 1 of him going from loving 2 killer. 4 sum reason the vision she had of them having sex was “inevitable” yet she duznt think anything of the visions of him as a killer. Wuts up with that?

It was kind of funny how he didn’t even believe she was a psychic&resented her presence there&then a split second later their “growing attraction 4 each other” is getting in the way& that very night they have sex. The author just didn’t take the time 4 it 2 naturally happen but rushed it&then tried 2 force me 2 swallow the fact that they had deep feelings 4 each other. It wasn’t happening.

After she has the vision of him turning on her she’s like She was wrong. Dear God, she had 2 b wrong.
But she asks him 2 make love 2 her. A potential serial killer&the future person who’s going 2 kill u&this idiot tells him 2 make love 2 her.

&when it came 2 her visions, she was never wrong.
So u know he’s going 2 kill u but ur still staying in his house neway?
In her quest 2 cum up with an original story she’s made her main female character look like a dumbass who duznt care about their own life&her male character I can barely talk about bcuz I’m still trying 2 process the fact that the author’s having him come off as a killer.

I mean on the front of the book it says He knows more than any innocent man shud. Why wud u have the woman believe he’s a killer&even have the man himself believe he’s possible of murder?

Bcuz a murder occurred while they were 2gether, Gabriel knew he didn’t commit the murders.
The elation Gabriel felt in knowing he was innocent of murder was only slightly less startling 2 him than the realization that he’d fallen in love with Laura Dane. In love with Laura Dane. It didn’t make much sense.
He’d known her 4 less than 2 weeks.
Her touch made him weak.
Her claim 2 b psychic was still foreign 2 his beliefs.

Any1 cud fill the role of making him feel whole again. Wuts special about her?. He cud have just as easily fallen in love with the 1st person he got with after the accident. It just happened 2 b Laura. &love? In less than 2 weeks ur throwing out the L word? Wow.
&he was startled that he wasn’t the murderer? I think that says a lot.

She tried 2 back up his profession of love by saying the night b4 he’d bonded 2 her in a way he never had b4. It was laughable.

She has a vision of him killing Henry Loo, the restaurant owner, rite after they had solid proof he wasn’t the killer.
But this didn’t make sense. She knew this man. Or at least she thought she did. Surely 2 God she couldn’t love a man who was capable of murder. Surely.
That’s not reassuring at all. She either duznt have enuf trust in him or she’d be willing 2 stay with a serial killer, which speaks volumes 2 me.

There was more action in the vision she had of them having sex than the actual part where they had sex.

He finally goes 2 the police like he’s been saying he wud, &I expected him 2 divulge all the details 2 prove he’s not crazy or the serial killer himself. He finally tells them about the roses having all the thorns pulled out, but duznt mention the dog whistle that was shoved down the man’s throat or any more of the details he witnessed in his dreams.
They’re there 4 hrs being interrogated&Laura’s big stand is this:
“Look, gentleman!” Laura said. “If u don’t have any new ?s 2 ask, u won’t get any new answers. That’s the way truth works.”
The way truth works? Huh?
Did u mean 2 say that’s the way interrogation works?

When Gabriel requested that they run his picture thru the computer 2 find a criminal that looked like him, I gave him credit, cuz I hadn’t thought of that& when he told them 2 lock him up 4 the night I gave him credit cuz I had thought of that being the 1 sure way 2 prove his innocence.

His first mistake was when he started 2 run. His second was hitting the wrong button on the key ring. Instead of the button that unlocked doors, he hit the 1 marked Panic.
…In that moment he thought of the warning&knew he was dead.
Wut the heck kind of writing is that?

He’s wondering how he’s ever going 2 live w/o her&im thinking that’s way 2 deep a thought over sum1 he’s known less than 2 weeks. He seems 2 be having about as much trouble as I am digesting that fact, 2.

Did he feel so guilty 4 living when his parents had died that he was trying 2 die&take every1 with him? Then he frowned. Not only no, but hell no.
That was kinda funny.

“They found his body in the alley behind his restaurant about half an hour ago. He’s seriously dead.”
Who talks like that?

“R u claiming 2 b psychic 2?” Kirby asked.
Travis shook his head. “Only a psychiatrist.”
Kirby frowned. In his mind, they were 1 & the same.
How r they the same? 1 helps ppl&the other sees the future.

The way Laura was always biting the edge of her lip was seriously getting on my nerves. Add that 2 the fact she looked like a child&she reminded me of Christine Feehan’s character, always nervous&babyish.

By the time the doctor came 2 his house asking about his brother Garrett I was impatient 2 move on, cuz I had already guessed it.

He finds out his brother beat him with a baseball bat until he almost died cuz he reacted 2 him screaming, he feels guilt bcuz he 4got about his brother&took his life 4 granted. I thought he’d be horrified&in shock but he was guilty about the privileged life he’d led. It’s not like his brother cud’ve lived there. The man almost killed him bcuz he cudnt take the sound of him screaming&he’s killed like 4 or 5 ppl.

Gabriel is worried about Garret&4 sum reason he just nos there was sumthing bad that happened at the house he was at&he’s acting like he wants Garret 2 live with him. It’s insane.

The results come back from Gabriels blood sample&it matches the DNA left on 1 of the victims so the police think he’s the killer. &of course as the doctor’s on his way 2 the police station sum1 attacks him.

Gabriel tells her 2 get out of the house after he’s arrested but she shakes her head&says she won’t leave him. He’s going 2 be in jail, the killer is coming 2 u&he’s going 2 kill u, but u won’t leave the house while he’s gone? How is staying in an empty house going 2 help anything? God, all these characters r idiots.

Afraid of the man his brother had bcum. He had killed more than once& if Harry Wallis was 2 b believed, had no understanding of remorse. Suddenly ashamed by his own fears…
Finally he shows sum sense by being afraid but goes&feels ashamed by it. Wth? If I found out my twin had almost killed me bcuz I screamed in pain I’d want them locked up. He’s obviously dangerous 2 be around.

Please God, she thought, don’t let this b bad.
“U won’t believe—“ He collapsed in2 the nearest chair&then groaned, holding up his hand as if 2 retain the floor while trying to catch his breath.
Holding up his hand as if 2 retain the floor? What?
I cudnt wrap my mind around that, so I just had 2 move on.

Gabriel thinks badly of his parents bcuz he thinks they just hid his existence&abandoned him&that they didn’t care about him. He’s looking 4 pics of him&Garrett but duznt find ne&Matty just walks in with an envelope chuck full of pics. He thinks they left Garrett 2 a bad existence&Mike comes over with the news that they set Garret up with enuf $ to last a lifetime.
Gabriel stiffened. “What are you saying?”
Mike started to grin. “That ur parents didn’t abandon Garrett. That they had prepared 4 his future as cautiously as they’d prepared 4 urs. There’s a trust fund in Garrett’s name that is large enuf 2 keep him in comfort 4 the rest of his natural life.”
“Yes, but unless we find him, that won’t be needed.”
Wth? Why’s he saying yes like he already knew that? He didn’t no about that. He’s been acting like his parents abandoned Garrett 2 a fate worse than death&this is his reaction 2 learning his parents care about Garrett?
&was it just me or did everything play out a little 2 easily? Gabriel had been thinking his parents had left Garrett 2 the wolves&it turns out they had pics&payed him visits&left him $.

The whole thing with the ghost of Angela was just weird&random. Idk why that was even thrown in there. We didn’t need ne more things thrown in.

He remembered that dog—it’s obnoxious, high-pitched yap. He dropped into a nearby chair. Poor Stevie. He must have gotten in the way.
I absolutely hated how he sed that, like the dog had it coming bcuz its bark was high-pitched.

I won’t even go into the fact that Garrett is trying 2 find his way home&after the accident&the loss of his parent’s visits he connected 2 Gabriel with the psychic link between identical twins&just happened 2 kill sum1 near all of the locations Gabriel had visited. Everything was just 2 convenient.

Garrett runs 2 get roses&the cops think he’s running away, so they shoot him. The author obviously didn’t know wut 2 do with Garrett so she just had him die 2 avoid the whole situation, in an almost convenient way.

Pressing his raw&shredded palms over Garrett’s ears, he took Garrett’s pain 4 his own.
By covering Garrett’s ears ur not taking his pain 4 ur own. U don’t have a problem with hearing a siren. U just took his pain away.

It was kind of cute when she heard Love well&love deeply in her head&she answered aloud, not realizing that it was Gabriel.

“We’re going 2 have a baby, &it needs a name.”
“That’s real sweet of u 2 tell me, but I figured that fact out 4 myself sum time back.”

The last few pages were the best part of the book. 2 bad the rest of it cudn’t have been as lighthearted.

I was so sick of ppl saying things didn’t look good. 4 example:
Mike didn’t move, but he cud tell by the way Gabriel was talking that it wasn’t going 2 b good.

Add the fact that she’d called out his name as she’d fainted, &he was pretty damn sure whatever she had 2 tell him wudnt b good.

He cud tell by the way she was standing that something was wrong&from the way things had been going, he didn’t want 2 b sitting on his ass when he heard it.

Wth is up with this author&bad news after bad news happening&having her characters observe it like this?

&here’s old Mike back again 2 observe that something’s wrong. Boy, I am getting the biggest case of déjà vu here.
He cud tell by the expressions on their faces that sumthing was wrong. Then wut, he wondered, had they meant when they’d left a message saying Gabriel was def. cleared of any part in the killings? It wud have been obvious 2 a blind man that everything wasn’t ok.
Why don’t u quit wondering&get out there 2 find out what is wrong rather than standing there stating the obvious.

Laura wud always be looking away&he’d have 2 tell her 2 look at him.
“Look at me.”
Calmed by the inevitability of this moment, she did as he asked.

“Laura, look at me,” he demanded.
She did as he asked, telling herself that, under the circumstances, this was the right thing to do.

“R u sry?” he asked.
She didn’t answer.
“Laura, look at me,” he said.
She looked.
“R u sry?” he repeated.

&then Laura was the 1 telling him 2 look at her:
“Look at me,” she urged.
Gabriel did, &within seconds was left with nothing but an overwhelming sadness.

Overusing these same scenarios is tiring&annoying.

&then I remembered wut I had read in the beginning.
It duznt matter how fast u run 2 win a race, or how many sacrifices u make 2 achieve a certain goal. Winning isn’t everything. It’s finishing what u start that rly counts.
This book is dedicated 2 the tough ones . . . 2 the ppl who don’t know when 2 quit.
Uhh….yeah. Right.
I’m laughing as I try 2 apply this description 2 Laura&Gabriel.

This book was boring&drab. I had 2 almost strain myself 2 remember what their names were.
I cudnt connect with the characters. I didn’t get a feel 4 them&the author didn’t let me connect. She gave no personality, no substance 2 them at all. &I wish there wud have been some elements of surprise.
This shud not have been classified as a romance book. It shud have been a mystery romance book, bcuz it was more focused on the serial killer aspect rather than their love.

Wow! What an incredible novel!

Oh gosh, where to start? The plot was full of twists and turns and unexpected occurrences, so much so that I felt I was on a roller coaster ride. I did figure out the connection between the main character, Gabriel, and the killer, but it sure wasn’t exactly what I was thinking. Again with the plot twist!
This is one of those books that is very difficult to put down, because you are almost compelled to see what’s going to happen the next paragraph, the next page, the next chapter. Dishes are going to have to wait, laundry is going to have to wait, get the family takeout because you’re not gonna want to cook dinner. You aren’t going to want to put this book down at all!

Haunting!

Psychic communication at its best! A psychic couple tries to unwind a complicated serial killer's murders that are intertwined in both once strangers lives while putting the visions together to find answers before the next senseless death! Of course, the police think their insane story is crazy, because they can only deal with facts! But how do you prove dreams or nightmares? Riveting, twists, and turns that you never see coming. Romantic suspense at its best!

This is an early Sharon Sala and she has improved tremendously. I read romance as candy or a palatte cleanser in between reading heavier books. However, this one was weird. I like urban fantasy, I like magical powers and psychics, but this one was awkward. The male main character was not likable at all, the killer was likable but scary as heck. The love was instant and the ending was predictable.

It was an intriguing story with some plot twists that became obvious as the novel developed. The ending was a little too melodramatic for me. Gabriel could not catch a break. The beginning was a little confusing. To me it was similar to starting a book on Chapter 3 and only finding hints in the rest of the book as to the missing chapters.

Not a bad book. My only complain is that I wish there had been a little more of the psychic power with Laura. For someone who had the most experience and power it was a little slow on the action. It would have made for a really action pack story if it moved faster.

I do take in consideration the fact that this book was written close to 25 years ago so not too bad for the time.

Terrible book. I usually like Sharon Sala, but not this one.

The book started off confusing. The nurse bathing Gabriel came off as weird. In fact the whole hospital stay was weird. I found the book very confusing. The chemistry between Gabriel and Laura was not there. They were in bed together within a few days.

I started skipping pages and chapters at one point. Didn't miss anything.

such an emotional story!

This was such a good book! But towards the end just broke my heart. Sharon Sala was able to get so much emotion and heartache out of me at the injustice of everything that was done. This is one book that will remain with me for a long time.

Hmmm

Well.... my heart broke when Garrett died a senseless death. The cops were just trigger happy. I can excuse that maybe they don't know that Garrett was sick. Kirby Summers should have explained to his cops what's happening.

Reunion

Really outside my usual genre. Was exciting and thrilling and unpredictable. A well written story that kept me on the edge of my seat. Highly recommend this author.

Worth reading! Gets you from the beginning and keeps you reading to figure what the heck is going on. There were a few spots I thought moved slowly but still a kind of predictable ending.
