I’m so sad that this is the end! I absolutely love Luke and Ryan. They’ve come so far from the beginning. And just when they get to a good place, here comes the smug douchebag Ryan to try and undo everything they worked so hard for. I didn’t like that there was a bit of lacking in the trust department, but after all was said and done. COMMUNICATION IS KEY! Finally! It took them long enough lol. But I absolutely loved these two and I’m so happy to see that they’re live for one another stayed strong no matter what. Gonna miss you guys!❤️

So this was the perfect ending to the trilogy! I’ll be honest at the end of book 2 I was worried for the boys when Luke’s ex showed up like really they got through all of Ryan’s work bs and now here is this smug douche
So turns out he’s not a great guy but shocked I do like that Ryan got a little possessive! I don’t like that Luke didn’t originally believe him when he said Adam was up to no good with his files! That hurt and made me sad and it was a long long week for them not talking but whewwww baby when they talked they talllllked! We only got a couple of spicy scenes in this book but both were 🔥 I loved the second one much better because Ryan put down his defences and let Luke take over and take care of him! So turns out Adam was a piece of shit like worse than we thought because when we met Luke he was in the aftermath of Adam leaving him behind in the wreckage and we finally know all the wreckage because Luke told Ryan everything
What pissed me off the most was his little snide comments to Ryan when no one was listening but oooooh karma got him! The boys needed to communicate big time and once they did they laid out everything they knew about Adam I mean this pos even staged a kiss to try and break them up! But our boy Ryan is smarter than that! When they finally got their justice on him watching everything go down it was truly delicious!!
I love Murphy he’s the father figure both of these men needed truly he always had their backs!
When Adam was led out of the station and yelled that Ryan and Luke were together and they just confirmed it I yelled! Like truly!
I can’t wait to see what Reed gets up too and I really hope we get updates on the boys in his book

Luke and Ryan . . .

Detective Ryan Carlson finally has everything he could want. But then a sergeant, Adam Wright, walked into 51 Division and things may never be the same. Detective Luke Hawley had never told Ryan about this guy, his ex, who has apparently known Luke for a long time... and in more ways than one. Adam shook hands too long with Ryan, which felt uncomfortable and deliberate. Ryan likewise noticed Luke had gone still beside him and he also seemed uncomfortable. Adam then, in a "good old buddy" way, reminded Luke about a case they were on together, the best week he ever had on the job... innuendo intended! Luke had nothing further to say except that he remembered.

Murphy then asked Ryan to make Sergeant Wright comfortable on Monday when he starts, wanting him to meet everyone [again]. Apparently, Adam had been the one who asked to come back here, where he had bad history, but hadn't said why. Murphy didn't find out in time to stop the transfer. So Adam added that he won't make this the unit's "problem", yet he kept trying to put Luke on the spot. So Ryan jumped in to deflect. Adam deliberately put his hand on Luke's shoulder briefly, the way you’d touch a thing you used to own, obviously trying to show Ryan what he can expect. Luke ignored him. But it won't end there. Adam will make it clear that Luke was his and maybe Ryan shouldn't trust his and Luke's relationship? Trusting love had been difficult for Ryan in the past, so he needs to avoid listening to Adam's poison. Can he instead believe what his own heart tells him? One of the most important factors in any relationship is learning to talk honestly with each other and learn to trust. Have they reached their goal? Or will Ryan fall into Adam's trap and walk away from what he fought so hard to get?

I can't believe it's over...

I loved these boys since day one and I want more of their story, I'm sad.


Despite all their GOOD qualities, these two need to seriously learn how to communicate. Half of the issues in the book could have been resolved sooo much quicker, but it did make a great story.

As much as I hated that manipulative, selfish asshole Wright, I have to admit that he made for an interesting villain, he did keep up on our toes.


What I loved most about this book though was Murphy. He was the sweetest, most amazing boss one could have asked for. Luke is so so lucky he has his back!!



P.S.: Reid definitely deserves his own story!😭

4.5 stars. An outstanding ending to this very good series. Where the first two books were focussed more on Ryan's battles, in this book Luke's former partner (both in work and home) came back to 51 division and subtly started making problems right from the start. If Luke and Ryan had communicated better the manipulator would still have caused a lot of problems, but they would have suffered less. The absolute highlight was their excellent boss, who was supportive in all the best ways. I hope the author writes more about 51 division.

The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building continues to excel and impress. All in all a satisfying conclusion to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

3.5⭐s. A nice conclusion to the trilogy, felt a lot more polished than the second installment. Plot was interesting, wasn't sure we'd have enough for a 3rd book, but it was surprisingly good. The prose is rather flowery throughout the trilogy, which I do enjoy when done well and thoughtfully. In this trilogy it occasionally felt a bit much and somehow artificial, but the characters and plot kept me going.
