The world's strongest archmage has spent his life in service to the empire, never straying from the mission and giving it his all. Shrugging off the mantle of a man who had once moved mountains with his magical might, he now assumes the name of James. With the help of his long-time companion, Celeste, he has found the perfect place to settle down.
The empire doesn't know he's leaving, but James doesn't care. He finds a cozy spot far from the prying eyes of imperial influences and gets to work. He has a town to build. Join James and an ever-growing cast as they turn an empty roadside into the most cozy town in the empire.
My reviews are my own. If you enjoyed this book, I’m glad you did. If not, I respect your opinion, so please respect mine. This is simply my view, so let's keep it courteous. My review is honest and voluntary. I enjoyed this one overall, but a few things pulled me out of the story. It felt strange that people would just appear out of nowhere and decide to stay without even asking.
I also ran into a formatting issue: the chapters jumped from 12 to 39 and then back to 13. I reported it to Amazon, but there's no telling when—or if—it will be fixed, so just be aware.
I also had a hard time understanding the MC's choices. After living such a stressful life, I couldn't relate to the decision to take on even more stress instead of choosing a simpler, more peaceful life. That made it difficult for me to connect with the character.
Finally, I wasn't a fan of how everyone seemed so involved in the MC's personal business. I can't stand impertinent people. Live your own life and let others live theirs!
Fun read, great community building, in-depth world descriptions and great characters. Laugh out loud funny at times with just enough problem solving to keep things interesting without angst fights. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and engaging. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book is definitely worth checking out.
This book changed my brain and how I want books to be. This is what I want. These words that are so powerful and meaningful put together. I could highlight the entire book. I loved every single chapter and I never wanted to leave this place. I salute the author.
