Clara Nielsen writes sweet & swoony YA romances set in high school, all about shy girls and the boys who are head-over-heels for them. When she’s not busy writing, you’ll probably find her out on the lake, putting together the perfect playlist, or sipping on a chai latte while daydreaming about her next story.
“Change Your Ticket by Clara Nielsen releases today, May 18th, and follows Clementine, a fangirl of the main male character’s boy band that he’s in with his brothers. Through a mix of not fully thought-out plans and complete chance happenings, you get to experience what honestly feels like a fever dream for anyone who’s ever imagined meeting and spending time with someone they’ve watched and cheered for for years. As the storyline builds, there are so many little moments between the characters that are genuinely so cute and fun to read. The chemistry and emotion between the two main characters felt very sweet and believable, and it made it easy to root for them throughout the story. It had that quick, addictive strangers-to-lovers feeling that makes you want to keep reading just to see what happens next. There are definitely parts of the storyline that don’t really make sense realistically, but in the context of a fictional romance book, I could absolutely ignore it for the sake of the story because the overall experience was still really enjoyable. Sometimes you just have to lean into the fun and chaos of it all, and this book definitely gives that kind of vibe. My biggest issue was honestly that I just wanted more. The ending especially felt a little rushed, and I really wish the story had been expanded on more so we could spend extra time with these characters and their relationship. I also would have loved getting to know the side characters better because there’s definitely potential there for more stories and deeper connections. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. As always, another amazing book by Clara Nielsen. Every time I read a new book of hers, I can’t put it down!
Clementine is a huge fan of the Valentine Brothers, especially Will. When she finds out that the brothers are in Hawaii, staying at the same hotel as her and her friend, she can’t help but think it’s meant to be. I mean breaking into a hotel room to get a sweatshirt counts right?
But how can this adventure continue when you get caught?
This book is about setting yourself free and living in the moment. I laughed and cried during the whole book and couldn’t put it down. It’s a must read!
