This was such a cute, wholesome romance and I absolutely loved the “it’s always been you” feeling throughout Lake and Case’s story.
Lake had phenomenal character growth. I loved watching her figure out what she actually wanted after spending so much time having other people’s expectations and decisions shape her life. I also really appreciated that her growth didn’t magically erase her grief. She was still grieving and working through everything while learning to put herself first, which made her journey feel so much more genuine.
And Case 🥹 What a beautiful MMC. He consistently put Lake first, gave her the space to make her own choices and just wanted her to be happy—even when he wasn’t sure that happiness would include him. Knowing he had loved her all along made their childhood-friends-to-lovers romance even more touching.
The road-trip element was one of my favourite parts. Rather than one big trip, all the little mini road trips and adventures kept the story moving and gave Lake and Case plenty of time together for all those feelings they’d buried for years to finally come out.
The pacing worked really well for me, the plot kept me interested, and the combination of runaway bride, brother’s best friend, childhood friends to lovers and it’s always been you completely delivered.
Overall, this was sweet, emotional and incredibly wholesome with a gorgeous romance at its centre. Case is an absolute green flag and watching Lake find herself again made this one even better.

Runnin’ Down Forever by Alexandra Grace follows the story of Lakelyn and Case who grew up together; Case has spent years burying his feelings for Lakelyn his best friend’s sister. Lakelyn realizes on her wedding day that the life she’s been living hasn’t been the one she chose; it’s been chosen for her so she leaves. Her brother and his friend Case help her escape her wedding day she hides from her controlling would have been husband for clarity. Her friend Mallory shows up, they hatch a plan to take a spontaneous road trip following her brother Gavin and Case’s football team for their away games along the East Coast. Their trip becomes a journey of self discovery for Lakelyn who learns to take control of her own destiny.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book it was filled with adventure, unexpected surprises, and lots of laughs along the way. The playfulness between Gavin and Mallory was hysterical; there is a Mallory in every girl group; the life of the party who will jump in to protect her friends at a moments notice. I think many of us have felt like Lakelyn at one point or another especially those who fall into the habit of pleasing others despite our own desires. Her character is very relatable throughout the story and you’ll find yourself cheering her on the more she chooses herself along her journey.

August 9, 2026This book was awesome! I loved the plot, I died laughing so many and whooped for the awesome parts. I loved the path to finding herself and also trying this at true to herself and when she finally got back home I loved it!!! Awesome job!!!

Casen, while at his best friend’s sisters wedding, finds Lakelyn hiding. She decides she doesn’t want to get married and Casen gets her out of there. Lakelyn and Casen start to reconnect after he stepped away in respect of her relationship.
Wow was this story empowering! We have a FMC whose family has put so much pressure on her that she feels she’s lost herself. With the help of her grandmother, brother and friends, she starts her journey to find herself again.
I enjoyed watching Lake take her life back and Casen not pressuring or pushing anything. Casen was her calm and I loved every moment of it!

Runnin Down Forever started with Lake running away on her wedding day. All of her life she had lived a certain way. She followed what people wanted for her, stayed in a relationship for as long as she can because that's what is right in the eyes of everyone. Her first main decision for herself was choosing herself even if it meant running away from the man she was with for more than a decade.
What I really liked about this story was that the journey was about her rediscovering who she was as a person outside of the expectations people have of her or her relationship with a high profile person. I loved how everything was tackled. Lake understandably had guilt for choosing her own happiness because in the process of choosing herself, she hurt her family and Anders, her fiance. I loved how the people around her didnt blindly support her but rather, they were there to help her understand that yes she hurt someone but choosing herself isnt wrong either. Her growth didnt happen overnight. It happened in small things until finally she did learn to put herself first.
Another thing that I loved about this story was how Case didnt immediately jump the opportunity. He had every opportunity to take advantage of their situation and yet he decided to be a gentleman and allowed her to heal first before making a move. I loved how in every single scenario, he always put Lake and her needs first. He gave her enough space to explore and grow but still at the same time being around her to support in case he is needed. It was quite obvious that he had feelings for her which I think add more flavor to the relationship journey. The pacing was amazing as well. The story didnt progress to fast but it isnt slow either. It was a perfect normal speed that allows you to really live in the "now" of the book.
Unlike the other books in the series, the events of this book didnt take place in one long road trip. It happened in multiple mini trips as they travel to different places. Those moments together and those moments when they arent together helped in building a realistic and easy to follow love story between Case and Lake. It helped when the time came that they had to confront the overwhelming feelings they had for each other.
Overall, this was my fifth book from the series and my fifth ARC as well. Many thanks to Alexandra Grace and all the participating authors in the Wayfinder Series project. The road trip is worth it.

This was so much fun to read, it's a feel good addition to the Wayfinders Series! Even with the blurb being kept under wraps, the tropes alone had me intrigued, and the story definitely delivered that nostalgic, romantic road-trip feeling.
I absolutely loved the childhood friends to lovers and brother's best friend elements. There’s something extra special about two people who have known each other for years finally realising that what they've been looking for has been right in front of them all along. The it's always been you trope was especially sweet and gave their relationship that lovely sense of inevitability.
The road trip setting added another layer of fun. Throw two people with history together, put some miles between them, and give all those buried feelings nowhere to hide… what could possibly go wrong? 😂
I also enjoyed the playboy falls in love trope. Watching someone who's used to keeping things casual suddenly realise he's found the one woman he can't walk away from is always entertaining, especially when genuine feelings start forcing him to look at himself differently.
The emotional side of the story worked really well too. There’s pride, history, friendship, and the fear of admitting what you truly want. I enjoyed watching those barriers slowly come down and seeing the characters figure out whether they were brave enough to take that next step.

This is a fade to black romance. Lake escapes her wedding day with her brother's best friend Case. Case also happens to be her childhood best friend. Lake hides away from her family and ex-fiancé at her brother, Gavin, and Case's house. She and her best friend decide to do road trips to all of Case and Gavin's away games. Lake discovers that Case has kept a secret since childhood and she doesn't know if her heart will survive.
This is such a cute but heart breaking story. Case has been in love with Lake forever but he is willing to let her go, if it means she is happy. Lake's relationship with her ex was all red flags and Lake needs to learn to love herself and put herself first.
Case is a walking green flag golden retriever. He gives her time and never pushes her to make decisions. He is the only person that knows her and doesn’t make decisions for her.
This was a relatively quick read. It was easy to follow and I loved the spot romance aspects. Although I would have loved more sports. Lake grows as a character throughout the story as she decides what she wants and who she wants to be. Case will make you swoon and you will be rooting for him. This book is emotional, Slow burning and just an amazing story with amazing writing.
I am looking forward to reading more of the book in this series.

Whoa… that opening scene. Confronting, surprisingly mature, and it really set the tone for what was to come.
This was an emotional story, with emotional neglect and shades of DV, and the family pressure on Lakelyn broke my heart. I was so glad she had her brother and Case in her corner.
And Case was ALL IN.
He loved Lakelyn, stood beside her and made it very clear that she was the woman he wanted.
But he still gave me a few heart palpitations along the way. There were moments when, despite being so completely committed to her, Case was prepared to let her go rather than fight for them.
And after watching him be so all-in, I was sitting there thinking ‘NOPE. Don't you dare!’
Thankfully, there was at least some much-needed confrontation where Lakelyn finally stood up to her controlling, manipulative parents and her horribly selfish ex, and I was very glad to see her stop letting everyone else dictate her life.
Gavin, though… He also tested my patience. I really dislike the whole brother gets to dictate his sister's relationships trope, and the way he kept digging at Case's emotional wounds was frustrating. Then he abandons his own sister because he feels betrayed by their relationship?!
Please…
Grow up, and let your sister live her life.
He eventually came good, thankfully.
But for me, Case and Lakelyn were the beating heart of this story, and once they finally got their act together, they were gorgeous. Case was completely gone for her, even if his willingness to let her go had me worried a few times.

He eventually came good, thankfully.
But for me, Case and Lakelyn were the beating heart of this story, and once they finally got their act together, they were gorgeous. Case was completely gone for her, even if his willingness to let her go had me worried a few times.

On the day of her wedding, Lakelyn has realized she doesn't want to marry her fiancée/ high school sweetheart. Her football player brother and his best friend, Case help her to escape and give her a place to stay to figure out what she wants for herself for the first time in her life. Lake and her best friend take several smaller road trips to follow the team and sue this time to give Lake the freedom she has been missing. However, the spark between Lake and Case can't be denied either.
I loved that Case always put what Lake wanted first. Knowing that she has just gotten out of a very long relationship, he puts her first. He wants to make sure that she knows and gets what she wants after putting herself aside for so long. The road trips were definitly a change from the other in the series so far and there were several smaller trips with her best friend instead of one longer with the mmc.

I am such a fan of the friends to more trope. Especially when one of the friends has been secretly pining for the other for years. Which is the case with this book, pun intended, because the MMC's name is Case. I'll see myself out....

Alexandra Grace's "Runnin' Down Forever" is a my best friend's sister story. Casen had a crush on his best friend's sister, Lakelyn, since they were kids. When she leaves her fiancé at the altar and hides out at Casen and her brother, Gavin's home, he decides to give her time. The story is mostly low angst with Casen's past and present pining.
With her friend Mallory, Lakelyn decides to follow Casen and Gavin's NFL schedule on a road trip of discovery. She'd rather lost herself during her time with her ex. The trip is an eye opener. Lakelyn realizes she has feelings for Casen. Along the way, Mallory and Gavin connect, but their relationship is unresolved.
A fun, easy paced story. Lots of healing and self discovery. A new author to me, I'd read Alexandra Grace again.

Such a good book. So far I have loved every book in the Wayfinder Series.
Lots of pinning for the love that never could be.
Loving someone from afar, tearing your heart out because they are choosing another life, when you are right in front of them, this book just explained it all so well.
I loved that live was a person and not a place. I loved that the female main character was strong when she needed to be. So many books with female main characters always end up being the damsel in distress and never seem to get out of that role, and I’m so glad that Lakelyn was able to take her power back.
I’m also hoping that there will be another book for Mallory and Gavin because the banter would be next level!!

I loved Case from the start, he's so sweet and respectful. The chemistry between him and Lakelyn was good but it's only when he became jealous that I really begin to feel a connection to the characters.

A solid rock of a MMC who lives to yearn and it has only ever been for her. This childhood friends to lovers story melted my heart over and over again! Case really is the dream. Not only would her burn the world down (or Anders as the need required) but he lifted her up over and over. What an absolute swoon.
As for Lake, she has so much to learn about herself, her wants and her dreams. But as their road trip journey progresses, so does her journey of self discovery and her confidence soars. She is like so many of us, in that she find her bravery as she matures.
The HEA was perfection, 10/10, no notes! Pretty much read this book in a day, couldn't put it down. Just loved it.
As for Lake, she has so much to learn about herself, her wants and her dreams. But as their road trip journey progresses, so does her journey of self discovery and her confidence soars. She is like so many of us, in that she find her bravery as she matures.

What a wonderful book. I loved it. Case, Gavin and Lakelyn all grew up together. Being that Lakelyn was younger than the guys they looked after her. Case never thought he would fall for his best friend sister but that's what happened but Lakelyn was meant to be with Anders. Until a runaway bride changes all of their futures. I loved all of the characters in this story and Lakelyn's best friend, Mallory was fantastic. Her witt and banter was awesome especially were Gavin was concerned. This was a wonderful love story, one I highly recommend.

Lakelyn and Casen or better known throughout the book as Lake and Case are two childhood friends to lovers. Usually I don't like this trope, but this book did it very well! I loved how Case did not force his own agenda onto Lake and gave her freedom. Runnin' Down Forever is part of the Way Finders series and I really thought it was clever how Alexandra Grace did the road trip aspect. I can't wait for more people to read and fall in love with this couple!

Lakelyn decides to finally stand up for herself and leave her own wedding. Case is her brother’s best friend and helps Lakelyn. They both have feelings, but as always, they are nervous to share their feelings until they go on a road trip together. Lakelyn is surrounded by supportive friends and family, which is refreshing to see in a book.

I loved it! If it hadn’t been for work I would have devoured this faster! The runaway bride with over bearing family who goes on a road trip to follow her former best friend and her brother while they play football… is well written with yearning and sweetest. It reminded me of classic Nicholas Spark stories.
