First Bite: A Ruthless LitRPG Progression Fantasy

Rate this book
Kael Verrick was thirty seconds away from killing his ninth man of the week when the System decided to fix his life.

For a year he has hunted the men of Theron Drey, the man he blames for his murdered family and the ashes of his house in Greymere.

Then a pane of green light offered him something no soldier is ever Marrow Devour. Kael said yes. He ate the dead man's marrow and took his thread, his skills, and fourteen years of his memories, down to the bread the man loved.

Every devour makes him stronger and leaves a stranger's life inside him. The appetite for the next one does not go out.

The System calls him an Unclassed Anomaly. The Hunters listen for anomalies. Soon a Hunter is carrying a list of five names. Four are crossed out. The fifth is Verrick.

Theron Drey sits in a tower in Hollowmark behind a guard of Threadbearers. Kael means to eat his way to the top.

What to a ruthless antihero on a revenge road; a devour-to-progress power system with System panes, stolen threads and skills; grimdark violence; no romance subplot.

FIRST BITE is Book One of THE MARROW EATER, a seven-book dark LitRPG progression fantasy series.

Story is ok, but didn’t finish the book.
The way it was written was really odd, no descriptions, thoughts or explanations. Just ‘I did this, then I did that’. no character growth, feelings or descriptions of any kind. Very weird. Everyone the guy meets has basically the same description ‘a face no one would remember’.
Really couldn’t get into the way this was written and it just wasn’t for me.

Very weird writing style, lost interest about 1/4 of the way.
