Each chapter does give you one of 4 people's views of events but it works. A portion of the book is by Alice a main character who researches elephants. "elephants you say." Yes, but I promise if you are a mother this book is for you. It flashes back some but once you are at about Chapter 3 you can't put it down. And for heavens sake hold on for the ending. I really liked it. Really. It is a TRUE mystery you will never see coming.

Slow to start, a whole lot of elephant facts, which started to become redundant, I mean great, sweet facts that tie the story up.. but I think more story less elephant research facts?..
The story did end Great!!
wait for it!...........

Another one of Jodi Picolts books where I find it’s right at the end and I think “ oh now I get it”. I agree with others. It’s a bit slow to begin with and all the elephant facts and information. But I like the chapters with each characters story. Overall it’s good but needs perseverance

This author came highly recommended to me, which may partly explain why I am so utterly disappointed. In this novel, Jenna, a thirteen-year-old girl who talks and acts like an adult, hires Serenity, a psychic, and Virgil, a private detective, to search for Alice, her mother who has been missing for ten years. Alice is a scientist specializing in the study of elephant grief, so the reader gets dozens of examples of this, many more than I cared to read. Other details of the story are also repeated ad nauseam. I felt frustrated with this novel a tenth of the way through, but I almost always finish reading what I start. In the last five percent of the novel, the reader learns that nothing is as it appeared in the first 95%. Some readers may regard this as a “twist ending.” I found it to be reader manipulation and rip off. I may give Picoult another chance, but not really soon.

I love Jodi Picoult's writing style yet I didn't like the ending. I feel like the puzzle has been put together and the image is out of focus because I dont have my glasses. Would I recommend the book? Absolutely. My experience is just that, my experience. She is still a wonderful writer.

I thought the book was fine, but the ending completely spoiled it for me.

Interesting facts about elephants. The ending was a total disappointment, after investing so much time in rooting for some of the characters.

Leaving Time is an extraordinary story with good developed characters. Although I understand the author is desperately making a point about the extermination of elephants across the world, the plethora of tragic stories about elephants’ deaths upset me. There were so many accounts of elephants dying in so many different ways, I think I may have become desensitized to the numerous tragedies.
I gave this novel five stars, because the story is unusual and well written. I did not want my own emotions to cloud my judgment when reviewing this book.

I'm a Jodi Picoult fan and I loved this book! It blends love, loss and mystery through the eyes of a child searching for answers. It has a lovely tone and pace, and keeps you seeking answers alongside the main character, and questioning events and other characters along the way. I really enjoyed the elephant aspect of the story, especially since I had just read a non-fiction book about how elephants communicate and relate. This book stuck with me anytime I put it down and after I finished reading it.

Picoult tells amazing stories. They focus on racial issues, Asperger's syndrome, lesbians. Leaving Time is a different kind of tale. It's about a young woman whose mother disappeared when she was three. She wants to find her. Along the journey, you'll meet a number of interesting people to help her. It took me until nearly the end to figure out what was actually going on. I can't say I was surprised, having read other Picoult novels, but it put a smile on my face to realize what actually happened.

Picoult seemed to venture on a different path with this book, but no less powerful. Picoult has a talent for creating such rich, complex, evolving characters who are usually conflicted. The reader struggles alongside, working through emotions and decisions. The context of this book is compelling and intriguing - a psychic and search for a missing person. I couldn’t put this book down while reading it and it has stayed with me.

I sought a missing person mystery, but found much more in this missing humanity mystery: loving elephant communities massacred by poachers driven by profit in despicable, illegal ivory trade. (Weapons. War)

This soul-piercing look at profound matriarchal elephant family love, communication, grief & remembrance is drawn with human parallels and a true gem.

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time! The author made the characters believable and certainly researched about elephants. The plot twist was unpredictable and literally made me read the story again with the new information. I will certainly be looking for more books by this author.

I love Jodie Picoult book’s and elephant’s are my favorite animals. I read this while having treatment’s and it was a little slow. Usually her book’s I can’t put down. I enjoyed all the thing’s about the elephant’s and their behavior’s. But the other stories I just could’ve stay focused. But I did finish it.

I loved this book. I have read Jodi Picoult before and hadn’t in a long time. This one was worth waiting for. The story of elephants intertwined as part of the story was amazing. The mystery was awesome and I never saw it coming (maybe I was too involved with the elephants, but it was a surprise. Soooooo good

This is another good novel by Jodi Piccoult. iIt is not as intense as the others I've read. You can tell she did a lot of research on elephants, and it was really interesting to learn about them. There is also a psychic in the book. Part of that is probably true, but some of it didn't seem realistic to me.

A friend recommended me this book years ago and I only made it halfway before I got really bored so I put it away for years! I picked it up again a few months ago and restarted it- finished it in 2 DAYS! The ending was a plot twist I was not expecting at all!! I love Jodi Picoult and I'm glad I gave this book another chance.

Oh my goodness, I must have passed this one on to at least three people. The plight of the elephants might not sound intriguing, but you have never had it woven into a story of the loss of a mother quite like this. Pick it up, you won't be sorry, it will move you.

Loved this story - bittersweet and beautiful!!! Ending hard to take but authors choice - loved details and mystery along the way - loved topics of elephants, spirit world and spirit connectors and the mental health issues discussed. Another great read from Piccola!

I loved this book. I had the audible version and finished it in 3 days. I learned so much about elephant grief. Because of this book I went to the Elephant Sanctuary website to donate.
I thought the ending was clever and not expected.

This is a mystery, which gives you details about the life of elephants, with a surprise ending.I finished it, but it took some time to get through it. I picked it up and put it down. Rinsed and repeated several times.

I so loved this book! I can’t get into why because it would be a spoiler, but I actually got up extra early just so I could get to read a chapter or two before work. Beautifully written and utterly absorbing

I love this author with all my heart, but this wasn’t her best. At a point I felt like it dragged on. However, I loved her twist at the end! I have never read a bad book by her and I stand by that today!(:

I really enjoyed hearing the stories of researchers and rescuers of elephants intertwined with the stories of the people who care for them. It pulls at your heart strings, keeps you guessing, and warms your heart all at the same time.

It has been awhile since I read this, but I read it twice, it was that great!!! The way she shares about elephants and their at times trauma, (apparently from her research), was so well done, and I loved what she did with the ending!
