I knew right from the mention of Stormwatch on the first page that we were going to be in for a real treat, and this story did not disappoint. I love the concept for this book, Kal-El’s father coming to Earth from the death of Krypton to become Superman instead, packed with scientific knowledge from Krypton to try and make his adoptive home-world a better place. The timeline for Superman’s arrival in the public eye has been shot up immensely in all of Jor-El’s silver ripped glory. The art and action in this absolutely rocks and I cannot wait to see what else is in store and how different things can get. But what doesn’t play in our favor is Jor-El’s arrival on Earth, as his landing also meant crashing right through the Stormwatch defense satellite killing Director Bendix and Lasalle in the process…turning over command of the program to General Sam Lane, causing him to leave during the birth of his daughter. I’m sure that will come back to haunt us, but at the very least the craft was jamming its location so when it landed on the Kent farm the government agencies trying to track it had no idea where it went…which also means they will only be fast tracking development on weapons to try and fight back against whatever it was. Fear itself will be gripping Sam Lane.

After the ship’s translation matrix got to work, Jor-El, with an adoptive name of Jordan Kent, was welcomed onto the farm as Jonathan’s adoptive brother where he helped to upgrade their farm following Kryptonian ways…while upholding the rules of Krypton to not interfere with the rest of the planet’s process. But then tragedy struck, as one night while Jordan was especially haunted by the memories of his dead family and world…Jonathan had a heart attack. Jordan rushed him to the hospital, but the resources available on Earth couldn’t have been enough and no one saw that better than Jordan. But manically running around a hospital while ripping apart their tech kinda makes you look insane and is quite frowned upon, leaving Jordan helpless to manufacture the tech to save Jonathan’s life. With this even Jordan came to realize that Krypton is dead and maybe it’s rules should die with it, he has the chance to help this planet by sharing his technology and powers and he is going to take it.

And Jordan couldn’t have chosen a better time to debut, as currently in Metropolis General Lane, with his hungry and annoyed daughter Lois at his side, is rushing Dr John Corben to activate their new Metallo robotic sentry to show the world that Stormwatch can protect them. They have never tested it in an area with so many people and the doctor is worried about how its defense protocols will react…Sam isn’t worried and activates it himself. But the moment Metallo comes online it detects the presence of aliens, and because it can’t pinpoint the exact source it decides to kill all the life forms in the vicinity just to be safe. The moment it was about to stomp Lois into the ground, Jordan rushed in with his silver shining crest of El suit as he stopped the foot from crushing down while reminding everyone that with proper programming robots can be fantastic allies and friends. He then proceeds to blast the robot away with an electro magnetic glove that he work shopped together from a local tech store, all while a young Perry White is reprinting on everything to a young Lex Luthor watching the news from his penthouse apartment…of course right next to his dad who is trying to scrub all connection of LuthorCorp and the metallo robot, lol. The metallo robot is not giving up, forcing Jordan to destroy it using his laser vision. It sees like that is the end of it, allowing for Perry White to run up and ask if this “super man” has anything to say to the people watching at home. Jordan is a born to speak as the robot head bursts from the rubble in a final assault, only for Jordan to catch and destroy it in one hand as he assures everyone that he is here to help and change things for the better. As twisted as that final line could be taken, I have hope that he truly means for the better and willingly.

This is definitely a different take on the Superman story. Instead of Clark, making its earth. Jor-el made it to earth and he was still found by Martha Jonathan. Obviously Jonathan still died like he always does. What’s interesting Is that even Lex Luther is a child and his father is the one that owns Luther Corp. so it seems and Lois Lane is a little girl. So this is pretty much else world story of the parents of the DC characters it seems like and the first issue was pretty good. It was a good introduction for this story, but not a lot of background at the moment.

Lois Lane is just a child and Perry White is the reporter on the street covering the news.

Superman is not Clark but it is Jordan Kent.

I found the artwork to be really simplistic and the story was lacking. It was barely 30 pages, with an ad for another comic in the middle.
