I wasn't ready! This story was absolutely amazing! The gentleness, grace, and love shown on page was impeccable. Pam was such a girl's girl and MOTHER! I am impressed with the way family was written into the story. The good, the bad and the ugly. And HARLAN!!!!!!! Please let Harlan's pillow always be cool, the money always flow, and he experience abundance in all things. He is a MAN, but more than that...a friend. He deserves everything good. I could go on and on about all the gems dropped in this story. Nina has outdone herself as a connoisseur of grief. She goes down deep into the trenches and exposes the ugliness of it, but then shows how you can also climb your way out and thrive in light and love. I highly recommend this book and will undoubtedly be reading it again and again.
This book pulled me in from page one. Great character development. THIS is what I mean when I say I want to feel the love between the characters, not just the author throwing two people together and calling it romance. We actually experienced their love from day one, from the moment they met all the way through the redemption and obstacles they faced together.
What I do wish, though, is that we had gotten more of the actual marriage. We got the newlyweds and then suddenly the divorcees, and for a while I felt lost because it was obvious something major happened, but I didn’t know what. I also wish the present timeline had a date attached to it because part one was very date heavy, while in the present the only clue we really get is knowing their child is five.
I honestly think it would’ve flowed better if we had gotten the breakup first and then moved into the present timeline.
Now the “push” situation got exaggerated badly. Why was nobody telling Sabine she should never jump in the middle of two grown men fighting? The book literally says Adair jerked too hard and Sabine lost her footing. How is that him purposely pushing her? That entire situation got dragged for chapters like everybody already wanted Adair to be the villain and turned him into public enemy number one over something that didn’t even happen the way they were claiming. Honestly, he should’ve been angry they kept framing it like he intentionally shoved her.
The biggest issue for me was how repetitive the second half became. The book was way too long because it kept circling the exact same conversations over and over. Adair apologized for the same thing repeatedly. Sabine was angry about the same thing repeatedly. And after a while it became exhausting.
Not the baby situation, because obviously losing a child is devastating, but everything surrounding the divorce itself just kept being rehashed nonstop. Five years had already passed. They divorced already. What else did she want from him? At some point I was glad Adair walked away because Sabine became exhausting to read. Then she started acting desperate and delusional over Harlan, which just showed she still had unresolved issues.
The story honestly could’ve been at least 100 pages shorter. The same topics were repeated over and over and over again. They lost a child, yes, but the constant dwelling on the exact same arguments and blame surrounding the breakup became draining instead of emotional.
Even when they finally go to therapy… they’re STILL talking about the same thing. Which honestly should’ve happened from the beginning because that’s where those conversations belonged. Instead, so many earlier conversations happened with biased family and friends, which just kept escalating things instead of helping them heal.
Part one honestly should’ve included the during marriage and the break up, which should’ve taken up more of the book because that was the strongest section. Part two could’ve been much shorter because nothing major was really happening besides repeated conversations, angry outbursts, and revisiting the same issue again and again.
The one-liners were making my eye twitch real bad. I skipped over them. 😭
I mean, good story and strong romance development, but it became a bit boring.

First let me say to the readers…This book to some that does not understand trauma and therapy, the book was perfectly, coming from a clinician.
The gap between their happiness and the beginning of part two told the way it did made sense to me. We needed to see the trauma, grief and loss, resilience and strength. I wrote a mental health journal that speaks on this: Forgiveness, Strength, and Letting Go. The stages of grief portrayed in this novel was on point.
Sabine’s Family…Even though they were not really needed, the clinician in me wanted to see more of them. I wanted Sabine’s discernment, perseverance and success (business and personal) show up and show out and humble her parents. I wanted Mr. Senator’s secrets to be exposed. But carryon
Narri and Tate. I would love to hear more of their story. Love out loud.
If you enjoyed the Kindle version you will love the paperback. It’s a few things in the book that weren’t mentioned in this but it was still beautiful.
Let’s give Author Nina her flowers. Forever a fan and supporter. I love how your novels touch mental health. ❤️❤️
I truly loved reading Sabine and Adair’s story. They’re the definition of true love never dies. It may experience some hardships that bring unexpected storms…BUT when the love is real, it’ll find a way to survive and be whole again. They were young when their story began, and things moved fast, and they both moved on what they thought was right based on societal terms. But quickly they learned that sometimes things have to fall apart in order for them to grow as individuals before coming back together for the better.
I loved the family that Sabine gained just from being with Adair. Even when times were tough, they never allowed her to isolate herself, and made it clear she would remain family no matter what. It’s a shame how her real family treated her, and how they missed all of the pivotal moments in her life and career. I also love the support Adair and Sabine received from their friends Tate and Narri.
This was an overall good second chance romance…but I don’t expect anything less from Nina.
One thing Nina gonna do is make you feel. I went through so many different emotions reading this. This was such a raw, beautiful story that really pulled me in from beginning to end.
The characters, the emotions, the situations… everything felt so real. I found myself completely invested and honestly just sitting with certain moments after reading them. This the type of book that sticks with you.
If I’m being completely honest, I did not want it to end. It’s a standalone, I know, but I still want more. I wasn’t ready to let these characters go yet.
I love stories that can truly make you feel something. Definitely one that will stay with me. I will be doing a reread before the year is over. I highly recommend but definitely read the trigger warning because sensitive topics are discussed.
Good: I have read everything available on Kindle by this author. When I saw this appear on Kindle I was giddy. I immediately fell in love with the characters. The past tense of this story was so good and the build up to the present was anticipating. Not so good: I felt story lines were dropped and could have made for a better story. There was too much filler conversation ie. Inconsequential work jargon 'that I found myself skipping through', and constant repetition of the emotional state the characters were in. 'Like no need to sell it. We get it.' It just didnt seem like it was written on the same level as previous works. The story lingered a little too long in some areas. I wanted to love it and while, I realize, this book is nothing like previous works, I feel the ball was dropped a little.
Part Two had a beautiful emotional atmosphere and I did enjoy the second chance romance aspect, especially the idea of two people finding their way back to each other after everything they’d been through. The writing was easy to get into and there were definitely some heartfelt moments.
That said, I struggled to fully connect with the characters at times, and parts of the story felt a little drawn out for me. I wanted more depth in the relationship development and a stronger emotional payoff by the end.
Overall, it was an okay read with some sweet moments, but it didn’t completely wow me. If you enjoy emotional second chance romances with a soft, reflective vibe, you might still like this one.
I am looking forward to the story of women who move on from these traumatic relationships and don't have to be wounded so terribly to receive proper love. I was rooting for Sabine to move on in bliss with Harlan and see a healthy coparenting relationship with Adair. I was also disappointed in Adair's quick downfall. He went from a doting and loving husband down a quick spiral.
Where was the resolution with the parents and sister? I kept waiting for that to resurface, and it never happened.
I think the story was there, I just wanted and expected more.
There are certain authors you don’t have to read the synopsis, the reviews, see the ratings or even care about the title to download, buy the book or read the book to know you are going to love it; Nina is definitely one of them. I love the flaw characters, the imperfect scenarios and the never too late to change and come to terms with your mistakes. The honeymoon phases are always great but it’s when you actually have to live, you understand how hard things are. This imperfect couple found and lost themselves with each others, found themselves apart and were able to be better version of themselves together. There is no better way to tell a second chance love story. I love every minute of it.
Saying Nina does no wrong is and forever will be true. Her pen game is truly unmatched that when a new book drops you can’t help but to sit and immerse yourself. I definitely immersed myself in the story. The characters. The emotions. The freaking emotions that this book took you through. I’ll proudly say that I cried. I cried with them and for them. I also laughed. Narri was a real one thru and thru and I love how she was so ride or die for Bine. This is definitely a book I want to have the hard copy of to reread as much as I want.
This was ai written slop. Her writing style is not like this. If you are a Nina fan you know she used an ai tool for this writing. I use ai to write fan fiction sometimes and it’s writing style is just like this. Especially the sex scenes. Very boring. “Like a prayer?” Please… very dry and very symbolic and non graphic so it won’t be flagged. The story line was good but the book was soulless and my intelligence was being played with!
The writing was immaculate as usual from this author. I loved every minute of this book and I don't like second Chance romances but this was exactly what I needed to get me out of a reading slump that I have been in for a few weeks. If you are looking for a real romance, this is it. Pick this book up. You do not want to miss out on this beautiful love story
This was written so beautifully. Balanced perfectly. This was the best second-chance romance I’ve read so far! I almost didn’t see how it could come back the way it did! Wow! & I’m a complete sucker for amazing character development! Any and everyone who had room to grow, did! It was heartbreaking, heartfelt, entertaining, engaging, boss energy, found family, & the spice was perfect! 5⭐️ read!
I’ve read every book Nina has published, and she never fails to make me feel everything and remain engaged with the characters and their complex lives. Part Two is one of her most beautiful and eloquently written stories, poignantly capturing love, sacrifice, grief, and forgiveness. Take your time with Adair and Sabine’s story as they navigate challenges often ignored under the premise of unconditional love. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
You think you know what you’re getting and it hits so much harder once you’re in it. Grief, regrets, unspoken words, forgiveness that’ll lead to a renewed HEA.this one hurt and really showed humanity in these characters.. nicely paced, growth and a good understanding of what can happen when you believe you’re in touchable. Definitely a recommend read.
First of all I'm a true Nina fan. And second chance romance is not my favorite lol. However this was an emotional ride I enjoyed. So yeah grab your blanket and drink, your choice and drive into this book. You may need a kleenex or friend near by. Oh and it's always a pleasure to see Dr.Pie 😊
Nina went and did it again! Another amazing book that made me feel so many different emotions! A beautiful love story where grief and lies impacted a marriage but the characters still got their HEA! I loved getting to see Dr.Pie again and the FMC lived out her dreams. 10/10 a must read
This was beautifully written, it spoke of love loss healing and happiness!! And Pie up in here!!!! Love it. Grab a box of tissue and a bottle of wine before you lock in with Sabine Adair Married Tate and the big dog Pam.
The elite emotional intelligence someone has to have writing this book is staggering!! She has me shooketh!!! Loved every word and moment. Loved every character. Whew! This is a 10 star read!!!
It was a good read. I like how the story flowed. I like how they got through the grief and hurt and the pain and I love the development in the change of the characters. Overall good Reid.
What are wonderful read. Two souls finding themselves early in life, hard and fast. Communication missing on the first round, causing people to not be seen, heard or feeling important. A lot of hurt and life happening, but love always find it's way home.
The love story between these two was raw, emotional, and beautifully written. You could feel every hurt, every longing, and every moment that pulled them back toward each other. I found myself rooting for them the entire time, just wanting them to find their way back. A second-chance romance that was definitely worth the read. I loved it!
Love the realness of this story. Nina job well done. There were some tough moments. I wanted the love between Adair & Sabine to make it so bad. Love this story and how they persevered.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
this was amazing! thank you thank for letting the one who wasn’t able to get the physical copy read it. this is unlike anything she has every written and done so perfectly.
Nina made rooting for Sabine and Adair easy, despite everything they've been through. Even loved A'Narri and Tate! This is Top3 in Nina's catalog for me. If you're contemplating reading it, start now.
Double for your trouble. A blessing after the storm ☔️ Joy after grief. I am in place of micro joy and macro grief. I can’t wait for the tide to turn. Sabine and Adair’s story was a beautiful reminder!
I love each and ever book by nina ,this stand alone is outstanding . She never let me down and what an amazing story ❤️ . Keep them coming i gave been looking for more of your work.
It was beautiful and so real!! I could feel their emotions with each word. I was rooting for them, then I only rooted for Sabine. Then I rooted for them again lol. I’m happy with the ending though 🫶🏾
