A collection of short stories about Fishtown i bought while visiting the area. Most of the stories were good, a few had sad endings. The stories just ended. It would have been nice to have something more to wrap up the book.
Fishtown - a quaint and folksy set of tales and ruminations centering around an area in the northwestern portion of the lower peninsula of Michigan. While interesting, especially if you have ever visited the region, tales such as these could, I'm sure, be recorded about many other locations in Michigan or even around the world. The author, being a local, understandably is prejudiced towards Leland and his "fishtown".
I wish there were more photographs, and of higher quality.
The editing could have been tighter, catching the odd typo as well as the standout error of "Forward" instead of Foreword.
There is a lack of closure at the end. The book simply ends with another one of the tales, instead of throwing in a paragraph or two to wrap things up and summarize the author's feelings and impressions of the area.
Having said all that, the book does a good job of conveying the unique aspects of the area, its attractions, and people.
