Hi everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my stories! I wrote The Blood Saint duet years ago and my husband convinced me to publish it. I edited it myself and I know it's not at a professional level like it should be, and with all of your feedback I am happy to announce that I will be releasing an updated version of both books after a very heavy professional editing I have commissioned! I should hopefully have it done by the end of the month and will announce on social media when it goes live! I hope after these changes that anyone that didn't like my writing will give it another chance, but if not that's totally fine too! Thank you so much everyone for reading and I appreciate all of your feedback more than you know both good or bad!

Had to dnf at 38%. I can’t decide if this book is written by AI, or if the author just visualizes things in her head so differently from me that the descriptions don’t work for my brain (simple answer, considering I’ve never encountered this before, is it’s AI and the LLM isn’t picturing anything and that’s the problem.)

The passage that finally made me quit, after MANY such issues: “the Witch-Blood Paradox codex lay on the reading table where we had left it, it’s pages disturbed, margins faintly glowing in the place where her hand had once revealed hidden words. The cracked collar was no longer on the cover.” So this book is simultaneously open and closed. Shroedinger’s book. There are so many things like this. Half a chapter before she takes to her feet, barely able to stand, MMC catches her, she is able to stand shakily, and then a half paragraph later “finally rises from the table.” No, she was standing, we just talked about it. She didn’t finally rise after you just spent four sentences talking about how she stood and the mmc had to help steady her.

There is excessive detail of some things (the hyphenated descriptions like the aforementioned witch-blood, silver-light, blood-wine, amber-light, black-ruby, etc are weird, too.) to where they’re repeated ad nauseam, and then boom, we’re in a fully different place, with zero explanation. In one scene the FMC comes upon the inquisitors ransacking a room, presumably her bed room, it’s supposed to feel like a violation of her space, only this room has never been mentioned to exist, she has never, to our knowledge been in this room. None of the items in the room belong to her. The reader is left baffled by what this room even is, because we’re simply told in excessive detail about the smells occurring.

The dialog is one sentence to one word exchanges, lasting for about four lines, every 6-8 pages. Sometimes the author forgets whose turn it is to speak and they get swapped or mixed up, but little of the dialog has any notation of who is speaking. It’s all close enough in style that no one is differentiated in personality by 40% in, or not in any way that matters. You have zero buy in to these spicy scenes as they start happening because of the lack of any sort of relationship between these people.

Spice is rote, with again the writing making it very confusing as to where and how the players are arranged. “My skirt and shift rucked up, baring me to the room. His hand slides under the fabric and touches my (whatever euphemism she used here, I can’t recall).” So bared to the room or covered with fabric? Pick one. It has to be one or the other. And the line “he drags his finger *through* my clit” (emphasis mine) what. What. What. What. BAD AI! NO! 🗞️🗞️🗞️

One of the MMC then starts I guess note taking narrating after said spicy scene (which TW some substance based dubcon there) but there’s not any sort of notes being taken, they’re just spoken aloud to the ether? Why? What are we doing here? “Subject pulse rate is high. Elevated body temperature. Containment broken.” Hey, who or what are you talking to? Is there some sort of recording device? This happens repeatedly throughout, where the MMCs muse aloud as if they are supposed to be either recorded by a lab tech or recording device or notes, or something, but that something is never mentioned, so they’re just sort of clinically narrating aloud what they see, as if they are meant to be notes. It’s all very strange. I guess it’s supposed to create a detachment from the characters? It does do that, in a way that makes the spicy scenes much worse because they’re just banging the experiment to see what happens, before the previously mentioned dictation to no one. In those moments and with that dialog it often seems like this is supposed to be some dystopian sci-fi, noncon/dub con sort of genre or tropes? Weird tone shift in a fantasy story.

Also we as the readers seem to know that the church is the big bad, but the princes are vampires who work for the church? Are under the control of the church? They don’t seem to be related to one another, it says they’re from different houses, so are they all under one monarch or separate? They seem to have no power politically or socially. The church is humans, maybe? There are clouds that cover some amount of the land, possibly just the castle/vatican(?) where they are? The witches are somehow used for that, to keep the sun away from the vampires, but the church also kills the witches. The church does and does not want the vampires? The church is vampires? There are definitely more vampires, but we don’t really know to what extent. The FMC is an orphan from the “gutter” but the church is claiming she is a duchess, who the church killed several years before. Who are they making this claim to? The church. Somehow the people involved in this rite both do and do not know she is not the duchess. Where is the family of the duchess? Have they noticed she hasn’t been heard of in four years? Who needs to be tricked into thinking she is a duchess? Unclear. Also unclear? The building itself requires blood, the vampires do not, at 40% in, as far as I can tell. The humans seem to know of the vampires and have no issues with them. We don’t really know about any of these things but we for sure know of smells. So many descriptions of smells.

I would say the lack of clarity on what the church is, what their goals are, how the humans and vampires interact in this society, what the monarchical structure is, etc is due the FMC not knowing, and us finding out along with her, except she does seem to know. The fact that they are vampire princes is not news to her. The church doing these things, in the abstract, like how we as a society know the catholic church is bad, is not new to her. This place as a concept is not new to her. So the reader is left in the dark, but it seems the characters are aware, as far as I can tell.

This book is, like, 90% mood. Its descriptions of candle flames and smells and textures (oh, there are candles but also sometimes light bulbs. Amber-light. Lots of amber-light light bulbs. And candles. Don’t worry about it). Everything is damp. There are smells. And candles. And similes. And smells. And textures. And candle flames. And smells. And hyphenated descriptors. And smells.
“Should the FMC trust the MMC?”
“No”
“Good”
Something crosses his face, too quick to notice.
Smells and textures and smells and candlelight. Descriptions of flames in candles. Dampness. Hypenate-descriptors.
“Are we going to talk like this again.”
“Yes.”
“Good.”
Something crosses his face again. We are to take this as character development again.
“The subject remains contained”
“Contained?”
“Yes”
“I’m not the subject.”
“You are.”
Something crosses his face. There are smells again. Some textures as well. Witch-fire.

Did Not Finish

I made it 178 pages and just couldn’t

The repetition is my biggest trigger and it would repeat so much.

And the words and writing style. Not my jam.

If you love Gothic Dark Romantacy & Vampires & Witches & Prophecy & Magic & Why Choose & Enemies To Lovers & Extra Spicy SLOWWWW Burn with Tension so thick you feel like you're gonna implode waiting for it to happen... You need to drop everything you're doing to go read this series RIGHT NOW!! For a detailed extended review you can go check out my post on TikTok - Books&&Lattes📚🌶️🖤 because if this doesn't convince you my reaction on there definitely will!! *No Spoilers* This Is an amazing read && is SO vividly detailed it's hands down a 5 star new top favorite Vampire/Witch Dark Romantacy read of mine.. It is a slow build up story following a snarky defiant strong FMC while she navigates captivity by a Church that has used lies & fear to maintain their power for centuries && the plot is absolutely the vocal point of this book so you will experience a slow gripping detailed build up pace to reach the explosive desire && spice that is ABSOLUTELY worth the wait to get to. Once it hits the pace really picks up && you're gonna be on the edge of your seat invested to find out what happens next. You are gonna be able to feel the intensity in the developing relationships && be left shattered an begging for more. The way these Men fall for her is so deep and*devouring* I actually literally screen shot multiple pages through the book to have to read at a later time over & over lol. There's self discovery & altered loyalties & plot twists with a cliffhanger ending you thought you seen coming an I'll admit I was SO wrong & also devastating loss that left me so broken. It's far from your average Vampire read so if you think it's gonna be another boring predictable read && everybody's just turning into Vampires YOU ARE SO WRONG an really need to read the WHOLE story👀👀 It includes High Priest, manipulation, unaliving, binding, secrets, growing powers, a living castle, spells, missing servants, sacrifice, demon/monsters, banter, love, back story, paranormal vibes && so much more.. I have nothing but good things to say for this book && already working on book 2 which is equally amazing so far!! Great job Breanna can't wait to finish this duet & again highly recommend this read!!📚🫶🖤 T.T. - Books&&Lattes📚🌶️🖤

Devoured by the Damned consumed me from the very first page and refused to let go. This is the kind of dark romantasy that wraps its claws around your throat, drags you into the shadows, and dares you to look away. Spoiler alert: you won’t.

Elara Voss is everything I love in a heroine. She begins as someone the world considers powerless and disposable, but beneath the surface burns a strength capable of bringing kingdoms to their knees. Watching her step into her power while uncovering terrifying secrets was absolutely addictive.

And then there are the vampire princes… 🖤

Each of them brought something completely different to the story:

🩸 Silas with his dangerous restraint and hidden intensity.

🩸 Draven with his fierce, protective nature and touch-her-and-die energy.

🩸 Malakor with his deliciously wicked obsession and chaotic allure.

🩸 Valerius whose devotion felt equal parts worship and imprisonment.

The chemistry between Elara and her four vampires is electric, filled with tension, obsession, longing, and enough heat to set the Obsidian Spire ablaze. Every interaction had me kicking my feet one moment and clutching my pearls the next.

Beyond the romance, the world-building is rich with gothic atmosphere. Ancient prophecies, blood magic, deadly rituals, political betrayal, and dark secrets create a story that feels immersive and impossible to put down. The pacing never slows, constantly revealing new twists that left me desperate for the next chapter.

If you love:
✨ Reverse harem / Why Choose romance
✨ Gothic vampire fantasy
✨ Morally gray, possessive heroes
✨ Enemies-to-lovers tension
✨ Blood magic and ancient secrets
✨ Protective “touch her and die” energy
✨ Dark, spicy romantasy

Then this book deserves a spot at the very top of your TBR.

This book is seductive, brutal, addictive, and utterly unforgettable. I devoured every page and I’m already counting down the days until I can return to this dark and dangerous world.

I got this as a ARC
🌶️🌶️.5 spice level

Plot to spice ratio was perfect …
Now to the review .

Highly recommend !!! This was so good

First and foremost the cliff hanger wow !!!
I love the gothic vibe , the politics of power play . She writes the surroundings in the book so beautifully , every detail makes you imagine how the halls look , the rooms the decor the feeling . Very well written .

Second , the way she writes this book keeps you reading , keeps you guessing , keeps you turning those pages , She keeps you guessing she keeps you wanting .

Your vampires
-Silas scholar , I loved his relationship with elara !!! Loved… so far he is my favorite . He may talk in riddles but the bond they share will make you love him even more he understands her.

Valarius ,religious scholar - he is still a puzzle to be solved but his devotion to her and I have a feeling he’s on a journey of his own in a redemption kinda way.

-Draven ,knight - he is very protective very by the book but I love the way she writes him especially towards the end , he’s still has yet to be more present but I can’t wait to see his part.

Malakor, alchemist/scientist - he is my second favorite , he’s a little odd but that’s okay we love odd and he is wanting to study everything thing about her but also I love how their relationship starts to build .

Now you have elara , she comes into her own standing by the end of this book , she is a survivor . She is that strong female character that you touch what’s her you will pay by the end of this book. I loved how she speaks up she doesn’t let the church or the princes control anything about her . She has a strong fighting spirit.

Are there questions left unanswered yes lots but will I need that second book soon , yes please because I need to know because the way the book left on that cliff hanger has me dying !!!

This book took me awhile to read, which is unusual for me. I was dealing with some home repair stress, so I’m not completely sure if was because of the stress or if it was because of the book. But I did still with it and I am so glad that I did.

There was some repetition in the book. Describing how the room smelled or how Elara felt after a comment from the princes, but as I read on, I realized that it seems to have been done on purpose. It became a part of the story that I was invested in.

I definitely enjoy how Elara’s relationship developed with Silas and Malakor. How things with Draven and Valarius crept along slowly, but still moving forward. How Elara evolved and how the Spire responded. I became personally dedicated to the story and what was going to happen next.

But the last 1/4 of the story. That is what sealed it for me. The action flew off the pages and the story drew me in farther than I thought possible. And that cliffhanger was BRUTAL!! The author gave us information that we have been craving since the story began to unfold. Just to yank the rug right out from under us and leave us hanging with more questions than answers left!

I need book 2 immediately so I can figure how the story ends. I need to know the chaos that Elara will no doubt unleash upon the church and I NEED to know about what in the heck went on in the last couple of pages!!!

An addictive dark vampire reverse harem that will have you losing sleep!

Enemies to Lovers/ Forced proximity/ Touch her and die energy/ Gothic court intrigue

Forced by the church to become a vessel, Elara, gutter-born girl, must wear the churches collar and fulfill their blood-soaked prophecy. She meets the 4 vampire princes, Silas, Malakor, Draven, and Valerius, who like all men she has encountered, have their own beliefs and agendas involving her. Together they must uncover the web of lies the church has buried and the bonds that threaten to burn them all.

This book has an amazing slow-burn that brings tension throughout the whole book. I loved the dialogue between the characters, especially the 4 princes and Elara. The love declarations aren't in your face, they are more soft moments bleeding through masks they have been forced to create. There were some parts throughout the book where it got slow but once it picked back up, I was glued!

I really loved this book and it had me hooked with Elara's sassy, strong willed attitude and the 4 princes that make you swoon.

DNF 😩

This was the exact type of book theme/setting I was looking for too so I was so sad 😭 I almost kept going just because it was the vibe I had been searching for.

It had Why choose, vampires, FMC chosen one, royalty/4 hot MMC princes, cult/church society, not modern day setting. SO MUCH POTENTIAL.

I’m giving it a 3 stars for the storyline and characters BUT it lost me because of the absolutely EXTREME repetitive writing.

I ignored it at first because I liked the concept of the authors story and world. And thought maybe it would get better as it went. But how many times can she say the same things almost the exact same way every time!

She looked at the girl in the mirror aka her like a thousand times in the first chapters. And I’m not talking about just a sentence I’m talking full repetitious CHAPTERS with like one paragraph of new dialogue or thoughts mixed in.

Out of like 100 pages she could have got rid of maybe over HALF of the pages!

This had could have been amazing. Hope the author tries to learn from these reviews, they could be great!

This book is long…though for the first half I was really into it, regardless of the writing style. The story was just that compelling, told from all POV. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of dialogue between the characters. There’s too much descriptive information, like what every room smells like. The writing style is kinda poetic or gothic, so it’s difficult to tell the meaning. There is basically no world building and lots of unanswered questions at the end. I’m invested enough to continue to the next book, even though I did skim parts of this one. The spice is good, just have to get through the weird style of writing. It would be better if the reader wasn’t forced to draw conclusions about the storyline.

Woah. That's the first word that comes to my mind. I usually don't expect much plot in RHs, but this one exceeded my expectations. There is an actual storyline here and its different while refreshing and the spice scenes were top tier. Since this is the authors first book there is some repetitive words, but I've seen wayyyy worse. I can't wait to start the next book!!

My book club was selected for an arc so I received this book to give my honest thoughts.

Girllllllll this book hold me in so fast it’s not even funny! It has all of the perfect elements for a dark vampire Romance and an amazing FMC who is kick ass! She is truly amazing with how she handles every obstacle thrown her way but Honestly, I’m just speechless and thats saying something 😅🥵😍 so for anyone who is looking for an amazing dark romance book this is it! I don’t want to give too much away but the way these men pretty much fall at her feet is freaking chefs kiss 💋

The author had a beautiful way of describing things. However, at the end of the day, I could not continue with the lack of plot and hard to read dialogue. Maybe one day I’ll come back to this book because it did see interesting, but as of now I am DNFing.
