------------------------------------ A wizard without family... A warrior without memory... A world without hope... ------------------------------------
One thousand years ago, the world was broken and reborn beneath the boot of a nameless, ageless tyrant. He erased all history of the time before, enslaving the people and hunting those with the power to unseat him.
The power of magic.
Eryn is such a girl. Born with the Curse, she fights to control and conceal it to protect those she loves. But when the truth is revealed, and his soldiers come, she is forced away from her home and into the company of Silas, a deadly fugitive tormented by a fractured past.
Silas knows only that he is a murderer who once hunted the Cursed, and that he and his brothers butchered armies and innocents alike to keep the deep, dark secrets of the time before from ever coming to light.
Secrets which could save the world.
Or destroy it completely.

He maintains a true appreciation for his readers and is always happy to hear from them.

The story of Eren and Silas has been enjoyable so far. I have enjoyed some of the twists although some were a little predictable they were played out well.
Something that often frustrates me in both book and films that deal with magic is that the hero, often depicted as being very powerful, never really lets lose and always seems to stumble against enemies, almost winning by accident whilst never really showing the superior power. That isn't the case here, with overpowering magic being used regularly and to great effect.
This is tamed by the fact that magic is not unlimited and has consequences as well as the vast numbers of enemies often in front of them. This allows for some great battles without feeling like the hero can never lose, which can be a risk when making them this powerful.
I thoroughly enjoyed this mix of Fantasy and Science Fiction. There were enough twists and turns along the way that kept me glued to the pages. I must say that these books cannot be read alone. If you want to have a whole story you will have to purchase other book(s) after these three BUT I still recommend this series so far and can't wait to get into book 4. Note - there are numerous small editing issues throughout the books but I wouldn't say they detract from the story.
These three books are great for lovers of the fantasy genre. The story is kind of a merging of Tolkein and Game of Thrones. The description of the fight scenes are very detailed. I think it is worth getting the 4th book to see how the story ends.
I really liked this despite the drastic change halfway thru, but please please please have the editing looked at again. There are some mistakes, spelling and grammatical, that are really bad. (An example, one does not "sew discord").
Great adventure story with a lot of violence tragedy and loss. Plenty of magic and crazy twists and turns that will have you thinking what will happen next.
This series has all the emotions; love, hate, anger, laughter. I enjoyed the characters and the settings were explicit I felt like a court while reading
Love this series- great mesh of sci fan and sci fi with tie ins to other book series. Couldn’t put it down! Right up there with David Eddings and Orson Scott Card.
I really enjoyed these 3 books. There were enough concepts that were new and I hadn't read anything similar before. I really liked Oz and am interested to see where this all ends.
This is one of the best series I've read in awhile. The characters were very believable. I recommend this series to anyone who love fantasy and excitement.
When I was looking for a book to read this came up as one of my specials. I am grateful it did because it certainly did turn out to be special. I have not been able to keep my nose out of this book.
The story arch moved quickly from two different perspectives that did not take long to join. Both characters have grown tremendously throughout the 3 books along with the many characters they came in contact with.
There were many points I wanted to yell and there were many I needed tissues and each caught me off guard. All of the characters that came in contact with the main characters helped to push the story or would add more definition to the main characters.
I find it difficult to think of this as three books since I feel as if it was one large book to me. Which goes with my feelings. A lot of fictional books that are in a series which only have 250 pages or less are done in this manner due to the publisher thinking most readers cannot or will not sit and read books longer than that at one time.. For me I love the omnibus versions. As it gives me the longer versions of the book which I love...and for those that love the shorter versions their smaller books of quick books.
What matters most is when all is said and done I love this authors style of writing and I completely enjoyed this set of books. I am already on the 4th and hope it brings a good ending.
I am not much for epic battle scenes but this one got me. Just detailed enough to keep me from skipping and short enough to keep the pages flying under my fingers. Once again, the author has given many twists and believable story twists. Yet (thank goodness) none of the characters have betrayed their nature. (don't you hate that?) I am glad these are bundled together, even though I read them as fast as a single. The character development employed here is wonderful. Time passes, and the characters grow in unexpected ways. It has a "swallow you up" quality that I truly enjoy. It has been a long time since i have come across a book good enough to read in bed during a rain storm and the hours fly by.
Wow, is my first thought. The first two books were great. The characters so real. You could fall into the books. I would have given them 4 stars. Book 3 was a real twist. I still can't decide how I feel about it. I wasn't driven to hurry and read because it was a bit bizarre. There were times that it was like another author was writing and then it felt like the author was from Heden, as the book would say. But now I am even more indecisive whether I want to read book 4. I read a very large variety of books. I am an avid reader. I always finish all the books, even if I am not crazy about them. I do want the answers but I have a feeling the reader will be left hanging some. That Is something I don't like
I really enjoyed this series and the unraveling of memories and history of his empire. So far I really like this Author's writing style and plan to read the rest of his books. This book felt along the lines of "A Song of Fire and Ice" to me except it moved along a little faster. The author gives a good description and people/places/things without overdoing it on detail. I anxiously await the next in the series.
This is quite a story. I had a difficult time as I hated to stop reading. Now I need to finish the tasks I put aside.
Like any fantasy one has to assume a new mind set but the author set the scene and I had no problem. The characters were well developed and allowed me to accept them, as intended. The story kept me entertained for the entire three books. I am not aware of more in this series if so I will certainly read them.
Kept the suspense up thru three books and into the fourth which I'll purchase in a moment. Could all we learn be a reality perceived incorrectly ? A lesson to be carried back into our reality called our life? I guess I'll know once I read the last book. Will it all be worth the time spent reading a well written book with believable characters we really care about? I'll let you know on the other side!
The premise in interesting, a mix between magic and technology, both the main character grow on you and grow in the story, struggling, suffering and fighting for what they think is just. However, in so many pages, not a lot of mysteries are revealed; I would have preferred a denser text and more focus on the world itself.
Love this series and the author. I came crossed this author by amazon recommendations for his divine series. Now I have read three series by this author and love all of them. Can't wait to read the next book.
Great story, epic fantasy. Magic, sword fighting, good, evil and the venal. This is not the complete tale, there has be at least one more book. Bad things include the occasional homonyms and stuttering but overall not terribly annoying.
Read first 3 books of 4 book series. These books start out in a fantasy genre then get more and more into science fiction genre. If you don't mind this its a decent series. I however avoid science fiction and prefer fantasy and that's why I gave the series 3 stars.
Brilliant story telling. Kept me involved the whole way through. Well rounded characters that keep the story moving. Can't wait to read the next book! Highly recommend it.
This was such a good book. The characters were so I interesting. I got Falcon Ridge free. When I started reading about Claira and her life on the run it was so intriguing and then when she met Matt and his brothers it got hot.
Has many facets. Magic, which I greatly enjoy; futuristic in the juggernauts, young love, love that has withstood time, and characters you root for. Looking forward to reading more.
My 12 year old daughter and I both enjoyed this series, and picked up the fourth and final installment. The ending was not entirely what I was expecting, based on standard endings of most fantasy novels. I was pleasantly surprised the author had an unexpected twist. It was sad, but fit the series.
