This is the third installment in the Bod Squad series. I do believe it's a much better reading experience if you read the books in order.
If you are following the series you know that the Bod Squad was after white collar criminals but because of different events and revelations, there is a much bigger fish to catch.
The first couple who started the series is still trying to get married in between all the new incredible events. Also, two assassins who are part of the team are realizing that they care more for each other that just a hook-up.
I enjoyed Tyla and Mahmoud. They are both strong characters and watching them fall for each other was a great plot development.
This book, as the books prior, is full of action and plot twists.
I hope we get another book in the series!
Cliffhanger: No

I had never heard of this author before and when I received this ARC from Netgalley and started to read it, I realized it was the third book in a series. Even though it can be read as a standalone, I felt something was missing. So after reading more about the author, who by the way is a narrator for Audible books which I love, and finding out this series were her first books as an author, I decided I was going to read the whole series. I started with the first book, raced through it and the second book, and by the time I was ready to read this book,I felt like I was part of the Bod Squad! What a fun series, and what a fun read. As I said, all of these can be read alone, but I am so glad I took the time to start at the beginning. I so enjoyed all the characters, and this book about Tyka, and Mohmoud was as enjoyable as the other two. The books center around an undercover agency who usually go after white collar crime, but by the end of the first book the reader realizes that there is a bigger plot ahead. I thought the series would be finished with this book as there seemed to be a lot of resolution of plot points, but then came the epilogue and now I am thinking and hoping there will be another book.
Books like this are the reason I love Netgalley. They help me find books that I would have never thought to read and would have missed this wonderful series.
The romantic in me is so happy with book 3 of the Bod Squad series by Gabra Zackman. I agree with some previous reviewers that, while you can read and enjoy each book as a stand alone work, it's best to read all three in order to get the fullest enjoyment and satisfaction with how the storylines all develop and resolve.
I was prepped for a new romance to develop in book 3, as books one and two each focused on a different set of characters' budding love stories. This time we are following Tyka and Mahmoud, and their fiery and mysterious road to romance did not disappoint. As in the first two books, we get to travel to various locales around the globe, which lend to the excitement and adventure of these stories. I won't reveal what happens, but I will say that the book concludes in a satisfying wrap up for all, with perhaps a hint that there might be a book 4 in the making??? I hope so!
If you like strong female characters, romance with a heaping side of steamy love scenes (most prevalent in book 1, but books 2 and 3 still deliver in that department), intrigue and adventure, you will love this series. Once you start reading, it will be hard to stop. I highly recommend all three books!
Third in the Bod Squad series, I think this is the best of the three books; this may be because, after reading the other two books, the characters are so much richer, and I've been on this journey with them all as they continue their quest to find and capture the villain Baba Samka. The first book focused on the relationship between Chas and Susannah, the second spot lit Lisa Bee and Jackson, and now we get to delve into the murky backgrounds of and growing romance between assassin Tyka and Mahmoud.
The Bod Squad continues to hop all over the globe from one amazing location to the next (I'd love to do a Bod Squad tour for my next vacation!), but the story really hits its stride in Queens, New York. My absolute favorite characters in the book turned out to be three beautifully detailed small characters: deli owners Ronnie and Myra Kipiniak, and Isabelle, the fedora-wearing actress that Bossman meets on the street.
Highly recommended that you start with book one and work all the way through to the thrilling conclusion with "Double Down." Here's hoping that the ending of the series hints towards more adventures with these vibrant characters!
Great Book! This is a great book; this is the third book in The Bod Squad series by Gabra Zackman. This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read this one you will want to go back and read the other books in this series. The Bod Squad is back in action with another case. Tyka and Mahumoud are both trained assassins and part of the Bod Squad team who are trying to take down the evil Bab Samka. The more time they spend together the more the sparks fly. If you are looking for a great book with mystery and suspense then you need to read this book. I sure hope the author writes another book in this series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Does the life of an assassin allow for love? Some would think not, but anything is possible after Tyka’s boss and best friend is assassinated. Teaming up with Mahmoud – another assassin – she’s determined to take down the people responsible. Except with things getting more dangerous due to a security breach, and Baba Samka — their biggest enemy of all – getting too close, it seems more than possible. Because they’re going to need each other more than ever, if they’re to survive. Read
The chase for Baba Samka is still on for the Bod Squad. Tyka and Mahmoud travel to follow up on some leads and become closer that they expected. Meanwhile the original Bod Squad members have been set aside from the official investigation. Chas runs down his contact only to be set to sea. The teams are split apart and gathering information, but they cannot pass the info on to even their closest allies for fear of being discovered.
If you're looking for a thrilling continuation of this quirky, white collar-to assassin team, this is the book for you!
The third time's the charm right. Readers in this series hope that this is true as our heroine and hero again postpone their nuptials. The unexpected twist, is how two of the characters finally find value in not only themselves but each other. This is another book that looks at the characteristics of love, passion, and kick ass crime fighting. Another hit out of the park the home run of the series, and hopefully the start of a new master mind criminal.
What happens when undercover operatives really work under cover? Under the covers? Double Down, by Gabra Zackman, is the third book in The Bod Squad series. Part mystery/thriller, part satire, part erotic romance, this novella is intended to entertain and it delivers.
Tyka and Mahmoud are two trained assassins who have zeroed in on one another, discovering that their quick hook-ups really are an indication of their interest in each other is much more serious than either intended. But before they can get down to serious personal business, they must deal with the little matter of Baba Samka, their arch nemesis. No one really knows who Baba Samka really is, but the Bod Squad is determined to find him and stop him.
This is a fast-paced tale that you can't take too seriously but is entertaining with just enough mystery to keep the reader engaged in the action.
On the one hand, the Bod Squad doesn't quite seem capable of arresting a jay-walker, much less taking out a criminal mastermind. Even their own leaders don't seem to have the greatest confidence in them (when they call with Samka's location they aren't believed). But just when you start thinking that the Bod Squad are becoming a bit Inspector Clouseau-like, they show off some of their skills and show why they are an elite team of undercover agents.
This is book three in a series. I haven't read the other two, and while this does seem to stand alone as a complete story, I did feel I was missing out on some of the relationship background that might have made things just a bit clearer. I would definitely like to go back and catch up on the previous two books in the series.
The mystery itself was well developed, despite the fact that Baba Samka and the members of the Bod Squad were a bit cartoonish, but Baba was definitely someone to fear.
This isn't a deep book. This is quick, light-hearted entertainment with a little mystery and a little romance. It's train-commute material, or an afternoon at the beach material. It does a nice job of delivering some pleasurable reading.
Looking for a good book? Book three in The Bod Squad series, Double Down, by Gabra Zackman is a fast, light-hearted thriller/romance that would make a great rainy afternoon read.
I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher, through Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.
This book is part of the Bod Squad series. So although it can be read as a stand-alone which I did – it is harder to follow, so I would recommend reading from Book 1. “Double Down” is Book 3.
The book has some humorous moments interspersed with the serious drama of spy work, but it took about halfway before I really got into the story. So I think I would have enjoyed it more by reading the series from the beginning as it has fairly good reviews.
This story revolves around Tyka and Mahmoud – two trained assassins that get hot and bothered while trying to take down an evil mastermind whose evil deeds have hit close to home.
The story does keep you guessing as to who evil Baba Samka is, but I think all the characters are confusing to keep track of. The passion is more implied than described although there is one hot scene in close quarters.
Overall the characters are interesting, but I didn’t have enough attachment to them in this book to really hold my interest. The last half of the book was more exciting than the build-up.
It’s worth a try if you are interested in spy novels with a little romance thrown in, but read from the beginning of this series.
This is book three in the The Bod Squad series. I loved book one and enjoyed book two. Book three just didn't grab me in the same way the first two books did. It was full of action and moved the plot forward, but was missing (for me) the charm and wit that I had so loved in the first books. If you are a fan of the series you will enjoy this book. I am glad that I read it, but not sure if I will read book four.
this is the third book in a series and I recommend you read the other 2 books first. I didn't and it took quite a long time before I figured out what was going on. The writing is very unique, which is the reason why I kept reading, but it was about 2/3 through that I really started enjoying the book.
