Cottage on Gooseberry Bay is a heartwarming mystery series about uncovering secrets, finding hope, and building lasting friendships while embracing the magic of seaside living and small-town celebrations.
A new food truck rolls into town and immediately sparks trouble for Josie when its owner stakes a claim in the fried food market Josie has long considered her specialty. Competition quickly turns personal as the two local chefs clash at every turn. But when one of the feuding caterers is found dead, the other becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation that threatens to divide the community.
Meanwhile, autumn settles over Gooseberry Bay, bringing changing leaves and unexpected changes within the close-knit group of friends. Adam throws himself into the academy remodel, Ainsley takes on an intriguing new client, Parker struggles to keep up with mounting responsibilities, and Remi becomes more determined than ever to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of the childhood friend he has never stopped searching for.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

I love the books Kathi Daley writes, which is why I've read over 100 of them so far. There are, thankfully, plenty more for me to read, and I want to re-read some I read a fair few years ago. All cosy mystery, which is a genre I really enjoy, these books are easily read in a few hours so ideal for an afternoon on the sofa or in the garden for some me time!
This book takes us back to Gooseberry Bay and to the group of friends who live on the peninsula. Ainsley, the central character in these books faces a tough case when one of the close group of friends is accused of murder. As a PI she has to find the real killer before one of them goes to jail. Along the way, she manages to clear a couple of smaller cases too, as well as connecting with her sister Avery.
I can't believe this is book 22 in this series, whilst they are all standalone mysteries the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
If you liked this book, try other books by the same author in one of the many other series she's written. The series I've read so far are Bakeshop at Holiday Bay; Bookstore at Holiday Bay; Inn at Holiday Bay; Cat in the Attic; Rescue Alaska; Rescue on Gooseberry Bay; Resort at Castaway Bay; Tess and Tily Mystery; Whales and Tails; Writers Retreat Mystery and Zoe Donovan Mystery. There are a few series I haven't yet started by Kathi Daley which I need to read.
