Check your trigger warnings. This is on the dark side sensitive subject but worth the fast paced read. Charlie is a widow coming off her husband's death, working as a cop but trying n to prove shes better than her lineage. She gets pulled into the underbelly of the darkest side of humanity, not only does she need to save her self but she's trying to save others. Nix has his own dark secrets he knows he should stay away from Charlie but that pull into her orbit is undeniable. Nix has to make some fast choices, stay on course or loose HER. This story hooks younin from page one and will stay with you fat beyond the end D.V. never ceases to amaze me with her ability to drag you into her stories.

Alright, I've been pleasantly surprised, I have to admit (especially since I wasn't exactly lucky with romances lately).
It was on the darker side, because of the main theme of the book, but honestly? I think the writing style made me feel like I glided through it, which is undoubtedly a good thing for heavier themes.
Charlie and Nix had great chemistry and I enjoyed watching how their relationship progressed. Thanks to the book now I know, that I'm not really a fan of a man calling a woman "mama", but that's more on the personal preference list and it didn't affect my rating in general.
I love seeing curvy/plus sized characters in books and Charlotte's portrayal felt relatable. I just wish we got a tiny bit more focus on it, because I don't feel fully satisfied.
Unfortunately, I found both the ending and the major plot twist predictable and guessed them around halfway the book? That's probably the only reason I didn't go with five stars.
Overall, I really had fun with this one and I will definitely check the author out.

First things first, this book covers so dark topics, so be sure and check the content warnings first. If you someone who thinks of a TW list a menu…you will probably enjoy this book!

I made the mistake of starting this book the evening I received it and ended up reading it right through the night! The next day in the office it was challenging to keep my eyes open, but totally worth it. I enjoy psychological thrillers and dark romance and felt that this book was good balance of both! Before indulging make sure to check the trigger warnings, because this book does touch on some very dark subjects.
I'm a sucker for any book with a curvy woman! It makes the story seem much more relatable. Charlie and Nix have amazing chemistry! Just when I thought I knew what was coming, DV went and tossed in another plot twist! The book kept me invested in their story until the very last word.
This is a definite must read.

The plot is very good! but the characters didn't captivate me. I didn't feel the Insta-love, i wish there was more interactions between them that would result into Love, i mean atleast one sleepover 😅 I also expected the ending , somewhat predictable.

The cover is dark, giving you your first clue to the darkness within the books pages. The cover sets the tone of the book well. The title 'Her' is the name given to Charlotte aka Charlie when she goes undercover and starts working and filming for the shady half of the business that Nix runs.
There are quite a few trigger warnings for this book, so readers are warned beforehand. Though I'd like the book content to similar crime/thriller TV shows, and the explicit scenes and darkness is well within the context of the book plot.
Charlotte Mitchell thought she'd finally found happiness with partner Nathan after suffering with a drug addicted mother and a father that died trying to help her quit her addiction, but recently they've grown apart. Nathan goes away on business, takes all their money and goes missing presumed dead at sea. A grieving Charlotte finds herself having to leave their extrvagant apatment in an amazing area and move into a run down apartment in a much less desirable padt of town with some help from her cop father's partner & his wife. Charlotte's recently left the Police Academy determined to do so well that her good record wipes out the dark blot on her fathers career record.
When Charlotte discovers a case no one really seems to want she decides its going to be hers, a way to do some good, help others, prove her worth as a cop, reinstate her fathers cop reputation and stop dwelling on her grief for Nathan. So first without permission, then with reluctant permission as she's so far in it would raise suspicion to try to remove and replace her. Charlotte throws herself fully into being undercover doing whatever is needed to infiltrate the darkest gang ever!
But Charlotte soon begins to lose herself and it becomes more and more difficult to seperate her undercover life from the 'normal' life she is living especially the more involved she becomes with Nix, the man that runs the less than 'least savoury' part of operations. Charlotte sees 'good' in Nix, he's a good man caught up in bad things as opposed to the other half of operations Andre who is a bad man who enjoys the bad things he is involved in.
When Nix works out Charlie is Charlotte a newbie cop he can't help himself, he has to protect her, from both sides of the business. Though others higher up in both sides of the business have other ideas. The more he tries to put her off limits, the higher the bidding for her goes.
To begin with Nix is a tightly closed book and refuses to tell Charlotte about his past, but slowly over time, with patience, coaxing and a bit of snooping Charlotte discovers more about him. It soon becomes apparent that the way Nix got into the business was not all that different to Charlie's....he isnt quite as dark and bad as she first thought. Similar to herself he had valid reasons for entering this dark shady business. He was trying to find someone that had been taken, then slowly he became sucked so far in and he didn't really have anything or anyone to get out of it for until he met Charlotte.
Both still having things to prove to themselves and others they decide to work together to bring both sides of the business down from the inside or die trying.
Characters I loved were of course Charlotte and Nix, both had similarly poor starts in life but tried to do good and both were trying to put certain things right. I also adored Noll and the way he still supported Nix despite the fact he had veered from the original path. I did also like Rochelle and kind of felt a little sorry for her by the end of the book.
Those I enjoyed hating were of course Nathan for leaving Charlotte the way he did with no money to go sailing on a yacht and go missing as well as other things revealed as the book goes on. I also enjoyed hating the disgusting, depraved, violent and sadistic Andre.
Though there were 'good guys' & 'bad guys' all characters are well written and really believable. 'Her' may be a work of fiction but its scary to think that things like this really do go on in real life.
My immediate thoughts on finishing this book were that the plot was detailed and so well thought out. Nix and Charlie are involved in a dark, shocking, seedy world that given the chance would chew them up and spit them out!
All the twists and turns really kept you on the edge of your seat! I kind of saw one of the twists coming, there's certain hints within the book but the others were a shock!
Summing up, Her is a dark, hard hitting, gritty thriller full of twists and turns you don't expect that keep you on the edge of your seat. You won't want to put it down!

But Charlie has something to prove cause her dad's reputation when he was an officer, so she decides to go undercover to get the human trafficking people caught from the inside. “After walking in the darkness for a while, you become nothing but a mirror shadow of it.”
I think this might be my favorite book by this author. I'll prob say that when I read the next book of hers but still. I absolutely loved every single thing about this book. The plot was heavy the twists and turns were mind blowing. I personally didn't figure any of it out.. so I love a book that can completely surprise me. For me this wasn't predictable... My guess was completely wrong.
I couldn't put this down. I loved the chemistry between the MC's. Both characters throughout the entirety of this had me absolutely hooked and I couldn't put this one down.
This one hit all the spots, dark, suspense, thrill, romance. So good! Highly recommend 🖤

I throughly enjoyed this. The plus size rep, heavy topics, and character growth with the MMC was really well done. I enjoyed how the sex trafficking was being told from the inside rather than it being talked about and the characters having to figure it out etc. The shock factors weren’t surprising to me, but it did not take away from the experience. Reading along with Nix’s internal struggle, I think strengthens the plot ironically as you would expect it as a reader from Charlie.

Charlie is a cop who is out to prove herself to her superiors, and all her other coworkers in the department, she wants to prove she is nothing like her parents.
Nix. Well let’s just say he is in with the bad guys. He runs the xxx videos of a much bigger operation.
When their paths cross, they must fight their urges for one another.
The plot twist is just amazing and the whole book just keeps you wanting more.

Another solid 4 star book!
This one is darker than the previous books. I love dark so the darker the better. Please read your trigger warnings.
Undercover cop meets, well another undercover but they got lost in the job and are now on the bad side or are they? There’s a little bit of back and forth but ultimately they fall quickly for each other.
Definitely a lot going on but written correctly so it’s nice and easy to read.

ARC reader here - this is my favorite book of DV’s thus far! It kept me intrigued, wondering what was going to happen next. Excellent twists, steamy spice, and solid plot. I wish I could read it for the first time again!
Nix is…oh boy. Hot. Sinful. Dark. I’d like to meet him one day.
Charlie - I LOVE IT when I feel represented, as a plus size woman, who gets the man and then some! Her innocence doesn’t come across as whiny, in face my favorite line in the whole book is when she grumbles “I’m just a girl…” SAME. hahaha! She’s a strong, determined woman with a heart of gold.
Dare I say there may be an opening for a second book? PLEASE??

I flew through this, very easy to read! I just wish it was a longer storyline I feel there was missed opportunities for further complex character development and backstory. But overall loved the connection between our two MC’s.

If you love Dark Romance, 🖤 but you haven't read D.V. Fischer's Her, what are you even reading? 📚
Rookie cop, Charlie Mitchell, decides to go undercover in the porn industry to prove to her superiors she has what it takes to succeed in this gritty city. However, when she meets Nix, the man responsible for molding her into the next underground adult film star, she realizes she may have bit off more than she can chew. Because while she understands the assignment, seasoned star and underground ring-leader Nix isn't a fool, and everyone in this dark, lucrative business is hiding more than a few secrets.
And everyone knows: Secrets kill. ☠️
Of course, there's enough spice in here to satiate any smut-tastic reader. 🌶️ However, you come for the spice but stay for the plot, the characters, the drama, the tension, the angst! I often found myself metaphorically pinning sticky notes to an imaginary wall and connecting them with red string, much like Charlie does as she begins to piece things together, the hallmark of a good detective story. 🔎
I was so happy to see Charlie turning into a seasoned detective, a strong FMC 💪, using not just skills learned in the academy but also her own experiences and instincts to unravel the web of lies and deceit that seemed to plague the risky business she must partake in. (Don't let her rookie status and plus-sized sexy frame fool you- The girl is a force of nature!)
I was emotionally moved with Nix, the man with all the secrets. He's a broody, silent MMC with a tragic backstory akin to that of Malachi Vize in Little Stranger and Gracin in Toxic. If anyone deserves happiness, it is him! 💔 Beneath that rough exterior is a fierce protectiveness, for every woman in his past, present, and possibly his future.
The plot is well-developed and each character arc is hinted at, but never fully divulged until the reader finally gets to that all-encompassing plot twist and says, "OMFG! WTF?!?!?!" 🫨 (When I say I was bouncing up and down in my kitchen, that is not an exaggeration. I truly was.) All plot points are wrapped-up in a well-deserved HEA at the end 💕, making this a standalone novel you will undoubtedly binge-read.

Of course, there's enough spice in here to satiate any smut-tastic reader. 🌶️ However, you come for the spice but stay for the plot, the characters, the drama, the tension, the angst! I often found myself metaphorically pinning sticky notes to an imaginary wall and connecting them with red string, much like Charlie does as she begins to piece things together, the hallmark of a good detective story. 🔎
I was so happy to see Charlie turning into a seasoned detective, a strong FMC 💪, using not just skills learned in the academy but also her own experiences and instincts to unravel the web of lies and deceit that seemed to plague the risky business she must partake in. (Don't let her rookie status and plus-sized sexy frame fool you- The girl is a force of nature!)
I was emotionally moved with Nix, the man with all the secrets. He's a broody, silent MMC with a tragic backstory akin to that of Malachi Vize in Little Stranger and Gracin in Toxic. If anyone deserves happiness, it is him! 💔 Beneath that rough exterior is a fierce protectiveness, for every woman in his past, present, and possibly his future.
The plot is well-developed and each character arc is hinted at, but never fully divulged until the reader finally gets to that all-encompassing plot twist and says, "OMFG! WTF?!?!?!" 🫨 (When I say I was bouncing up and down in my kitchen, that is not an exaggeration. I truly was.) All plot points are wrapped-up in a well-deserved HEA at the end 💕, making this a standalone novel you will undoubtedly binge-read.

Her by D.V Fischer is best described as a dark romance thriller/suspense. This book has it all. Organized crime, plus size FMC, twists, secrets and more. This book is dark so make sure to check the trigger warnings. Charlie is just out of the police academy and living under the shadow of her father. Dealing with the fallout from her father's actions as a cop, Charlie struggles to find her place in the force and prove her worth. She goes undercover in a trafficking ring to try to bring it down but she ends up in deeper than she could ever imagine. Feenix Blaylock runs the XXX side of the operation Charlie has infiltrated. Broody Nix cannot figure out why Charlie has gotten under his skin. He finds he wants to protect her from the shady and more disturbing parts of their organization. Can Charlie overcome her feelings of low self-confidence and worth and bring down her target? Or will she even come out of this with her heart unscathed?

Holy freaking crap this book!!! Once you start it, you can’t put it down because it hooks you in. The twists and turns, I was NOT prepared. And the ending, mind freaking blown. This book will leave you thinking, what the heck did I just read.
This book revolves around human trafficking and is a very dark subject. But DV does it so well. The writing was done so beautifully. You can’t help that it breaks your heart reading about how some of the people are treated. And to know this actually happens in real life. I can’t imagine.
Charlotte or Charlie is our curvy FMC. She decides she wants to go undercover and bring down this human trafficking ring. Her boss does not think she is ready and neither does her partner. But Charlie is determined to prove herself.
Feenix or Nix is our MMC. You want to hate him because he is involved in this business, but the love and protection he has for Charlie, you can’t help but fall in love with him.
The chemistry between the two starts from the very beginning and the spice between them is off the charts!

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest opinion.
When I saw the author looking for ARC readers for this book and saying how dark it was. She was saying her editor said people won’t be able to handle the content…I was INVESTED. I absolutely LOVE dark romance. Gimme the dark romance!! Give it to me. Give it all to me NOW! However, I will have to say IMO, and this is my review which is my opinion, this is not a dark romance. This book has very dark themes and a great anti-hero but not dark romance. The themes of trafficking and necrophilia are dark for sure, but we don’t actually see that stuff so IMO, it’s a running dark theme in the book. If the characters had been involved in that stuff, then YES dark romance. My rating for this book is based off this being presented as a dark romance.
Ok so that is my take on the genre this book is being placed in. Now for the book itself, as a romance reader, we do put aside a lot because we are reading for enjoyment. Charlotte is sad her estranged husband has died leaving her penniless. She is working and is allowed to go undercover to bust a trafficking/porno ring. When she is there, she meets Nix who is stunned by the curvy woman of his dreams. He tries to push her away and not draw attention to his attraction to her or his “bosses” could use that as a weakness. They fumble through trying to figure out several things (who is the main boss and who killed Nix’s family member) when it all comes to a head at the end of the book.
I did have a few issues with a rookie cop sitting behind the desk being allowed to be thrown in to a pornography undercover ring. But ok no worries. I also had issues with the fact that Charlotte/Charlie knows how dangerous Andre (Nix’s partner) is and is still ignoring Nix at every damn turn. Like ma’am do you want to be unalived??
Was the book enjoyable? Sure. I did like a few of the twists she had in place. One I kinda picked up on and the other was a bombshell.
The heat and spice were at a nice level. Nix is a great anti-hero. I mean are you supposed to fall in love with a guy who runs a porno ring??? I think not and yet you do.

Okay firstly dang. Secondly. Reading the trigger warnings carefully if you read this.
I loved this book. I was on edge the entire time. It was go go go from the start. I immediately loved nix and just knew there was something more to him. Charlie too.
I think I held my breath through 99% of this book and when I tell you I DID NOT SEE THE TWIST COMING. Normally I can guess them, not this time. Damn. Just damn.
Well done to the author. I’m using this as my moment of fame with @dvfischerauthor choosing my surname for a character and I’m 100% going to tell everyone I meet to read this. How many people can say their name directly impacted a character? Best moment of my life. Haha. 👀

I couldnt put in down as i was instantly hooked from the beginning .. This has both genres i love psychological thrillers and dark romance, this book as the perfect balance of both and just love it ! I love Charlie and Nix as their chemisty was just amaziing !! Cant forget DV on how she just tossed in a plot twist that you wont see coming .

WOW, this book had me guessing each step of the way, I didn't see half of it coming. I enjoyed this book, it had me hooked from the start, I LOVED Charlie. D. V. Fisher never disappoints with her curvy girl romance!

Well DV wasn’t kidding when she said this would be darker than her editor thought we could stomach. This was incredibly special to read this out of her comfort zone style book. So dark. The plot twist, the spice, and the characters really made this a wild ride!

First, I’d like to thank DV Fischer for letting me be a part of the ARC team for the booo. It’s my first book by her and I can confidently say I will read more. Her writing style is great, very descriptive - really good at setting the scene. I felt like I was in the book. I really enjoyed the main characters in this, the sexual tension between them was palpable on the page. I also really appreciated that while the FMC is plus size, she had confidence - and the instance where is slips, the MMC quickly helps her right her confidence again. The instance possessive nature that Nix showed and Charlie’s immediate loyalty to him was fascinating. The entire story line was gold and the plot twists were excellent! I highly recommend giving this a read! It’s very dark, main theme points are s*x trafficking and p*rn stars, but if those topics don’t trigger you, please read this when it’s released on January 15th!!

First read of 2025: Even though this is a book about a very dark, disturbing topic, I was throughly wrapped up in it. I’m glad that Nix and Charlie ended up as they did. I wasn’t expecting some of the twists, so good job, DV Fischer!

I read this book before and I absolutely loved the story and was so excited to listen to it as an audiobook. However, I just don’t think the narrator was the right person for the job. Several points though out it seemed as if she was bored with narrating the story. I did love when it came to the part with the Russian character, that the Russian accent truly sounded Russian. The story itself is absolutely amazing, I just don’t think the narrator was the right choice.
