OK guys let’s get into it. This book is really good. The flight is really good and it is a fast moving fast Facebook but you do not get lost in the plot. It is not confusing. It is easy to follow which makes this book a very easy read. There are three main characters and the book is told from three different point of views. The first character is Ophelia and she is the princess soon to be crown queen. Then you have Edmar, who is Ophelia’s brother and as soon to be headed of the Royal guard once Ophelia has been crown queen. Now this pairing has gone back decades, and is a part of their blessing that each queen has two kids a boy, and a girl at the boy gets head of the warrior guard, and the girl becomes the next queen. Then you have Minerva, who is Ophelia’s best friend and she is the queen Region so if something is to happen to Ophelia Minerva would be queen. Now this story follows these three a few months before Ophelia‘s coronation, and there are several attempts on her life, and all of these characters have to navigate the crazy world they’re living in while learning who they truly are, and really facing themselves and their thoughts in their beliefs in these times of trouble. You see these characters grow, and you see them starting to become who they should be by the end of the book. This book did leave me wanting more. I’m ready for the second one. I want to know what happens it’s going to be a series so keep in mind when you start this one you’re gonna be left wanting more. I really enjoyed reading this book. This was a book that I could just escape into. If you’re looking for a pure fantasy book full of magic and wanting to go on a journey, pick this one.
Not my usual read. I’m usually a historical fiction reader but I like to venture out of my comfort zone to change things up every so often. This was such a wonderful debut book! So happy I decided to give it a go! I received this book as an arc and it kept me interested from the first page until the last! Well written and such an easy, entertaining read! I can’t wait to read more from W.M. Cook!
fun intro fantasy read. one dark window vibes with the royalty system and mythology but quick and easy to read! liked the multiple perspectives a lot and the different relationships going on within the central storyline!
Loved this book!! I’m so excited for Book 2. It reminds me of TOG in the way that in the first book you can feel how much there is left of the story to tell. It’s just the beginning.
