One heist and it's all over.
When Kaz Daleuhna became the pilot for the heist crew known as the Constellation, she found a way to get off her home planet of Mars and make her way into the stars. Cast of characters really start to grow on you as you get to know them. Lots of action and excitement, and a pretty cool universe. Love the dialogue and banter!

LOVED it! So many twists and turns and action-packed! The characters are all so unique and well written-I was hooked from the start. Can’t wait for book two!

I really enjoyed this! I’m impressed with how the author has invented this entire cool new world from scratch off the top of his head. The influences are obvious. Definitely some Star Wars, with the way the reader is just dropped into the middle of an ongoing story with no trouble catching up, a lot of Guardians Of The Galaxy, with an eclectic group of heroes on a mission, and various other fantasy/sci-fi works sprinkled throughout.
The main character is Kaz, the sole survivor (?) of an explosion, who has a great personality and a bit of an attitude. Kaz’s main sidekick is a holographic AI cat named Veri, and this might be the first and only version of AI that I support! Their relationship brings a lot of humor to the story. My other favorite secondary character is Vice, a weapons specialist who communicates through emoji images on his face/screen.
The book has some LGBTQ+ representation, and I also thought it was smart and interesting the way the author subtly uses nonbinary “they” pronouns for some characters, which makes total sense if you think about it. The story involves multiple alien races and AI beings who wouldn’t identify as male or female or even any gender at all, so “they” is actually the most natural pronoun to use.
There were a few times when the plot was a bit confusing, but there were enough compelling characters, well-earned twists, and expert world-building that any quibbles are easy to overlook. This is a great start to what should hopefully be a great series from this promising new author.
