Langston Brothers #2

RED : romance cowboy torride en petite ville - une comédie romantique sensuelle (Frères Langston t. 2)

Rate this book
He's spent his whole life coming second. Second son. Second choice.
The half-eared blacksmith nobody notices.

Red Langston made peace with living in his brother's shadow until Willa crashed into Dalmore, turning his world upside down. She wasn't supposed to be his problem. She wasn't supposed to make him feel like maybe, for once, he could be first.

But she chose Cash. Said yes to his drunken proposal.
And Red told himself he was fine with it.
He wasn't.

One riding lesson. One stolen half kiss. One tractor was left on her porch in a drunken rage.
When his brother calls him out for a duel, is he really ready to destroy everything?

But what if, while he's been chasing the wrong woman, the right one's been there all along?
Precious has loved Red since they were kids. Slept in his bed. Cooked in his kitchen.
And he never noticed. Not until it's too late.

RED is a witty, steamy small-town western rom-com about unrequited love, sibling rivalry, and the dangerous game of wanting what you can't have. Perfect for fans of forbidden attraction, childhood friends to lovers, spicy scenes that'll steam up your Kindle, and cowboys who are terrible at feelings but great with their hands. *blushing*

Madison Colt

Madison Colt writes raw, heart-twisting romances with characters you can’t forget and emotions you can’t shake off. Her books blend passion, humor, and that bittersweet ache of love you almost lost.

Her heroines always bring chaos—the kind that turns lives upside down—and the men? Well, they’re irresistibly addictive, sexy as hell, and impossible to walk away from. Every cup of coffee turns into sarcasm in her veins, fueling every wicked line and unapologetic twist in her stories.

When she’s not writing, she’s riding horses, traveling to new places, people-watching in coffee shops, or plotting her next fictional heartbreak—all while being dangerously funny and more than ready to mess with your heart.

Read with caution: you might laugh, cry, and fall a little bit in love. The characters in her books are fictional. Any resemblance to real people is purely coincidental… though the author can neither confirm nor deny otherwise.

RED is emotional, messy, and unexpectedly tender—a story about longing, misplaced love, and what it really means to be chosen.

Red Langston isn’t the one people notice.

He’s the middle brother. The fixer. The one cleaning up everyone else’s mess while standing in the background, watching life hand the best moments to someone else. He’s spent so long being second—second son, second choice—that he’s almost convinced himself that’s all he’ll ever be.

And honestly? Your heart feels that.

Because when Willa enters the picture, it’s easy to understand why he latches onto the idea of her. She represents something he’s never had—the chance to be first. To be chosen. But watching him chase something that was never truly his is both frustrating and heartbreakingly real.

What makes this story shine is how it peels back those layers.

Because while Red is looking in the wrong direction… someone else has been there all along.

Precious.

And she is everything.

Steady. Loyal. Quietly loving him for years without asking for anything in return. Their history adds so much depth to the story, making every missed moment, every overlooked feeling, hit that much harder. When Red finally starts to see her—not just as someone who’s always been there, but as someone who matters—it feels earned in the best way.

The emotional tension is balanced beautifully with humor and small-town chaos. There’s sibling rivalry, impulsive decisions (that tractor moment? unforgettable), and just enough drama to keep the pages turning.

But at its core, this story is about self-worth.

About realizing that chasing what you think you want can blind you to what you actually need. About learning that being chosen starts with believing you deserve to be.

If you love:
🤠 flawed, emotionally guarded cowboys
💔 unrequited love that actually hurts
💛 childhood friends-to-lovers with real depth
🔥 messy feelings, big realizations, and satisfying growth
🏡 small-town drama with heart and humor

…this one will absolutely pull you in.

Because sometimes the hardest thing to see…

is the person who’s been loving you all along.

He has spent his life coming in second, always feeling like second choice. His current roommate/friend with benefits was with his brother first. And now when push came to shove the pretty new girl chose his brother over him. He thought he’d gotten over it, but he’s still bitter and making both his brother and new fiancé the object of ire. But he doesn’t realize as well. He’s been so focused on his brother’s love life. He hasn’t been paying attention to his own. And the girl who has been waiting, might not wait anymore. This is such an interesting series because it has definitely elements of old West mentality however it’s clearly sat in modern times. I can enjoy that vibe however the thing that’s very frustrating to me about this series so far is that they are a slow burn when it comes to the couple in the story and then it ends to abruptly. They finally just get to the point and the story is over. You don’t get to sit with it and enjoy it, which is truly the best part.

This was a different read for me! This was the first time I had read a book from this author and it was an experience that’s for sure! I won’t say this book was bad but I can’t say it was amazing either! It was good it was interesting maybe because I didn’t read the first book before this one might be why I couldn’t wrap my head around or understand certain scenes in this book. I also don’t think it was steamy! There were a few parts but not really spicy so I was confused why it was labeled as explicit. There was some funny one liners in here that had me giggling. But I’m curious if all the books in this series are like this book specifically.

Small Town country romance, with a twist. Red is one in the middle, cleaning up everyone's messes, never quite good enough.  His brothers always are the ones getting the glory, and the girls,  while he has been left bringing up the rear, taking the fall when things go south. Now, will he mess it all up again by falling for his younger brother Cash's fiancé? Are his feelings for Willa as real as he thinks, or just in his head? What about Precious, who has been there for him since they were kids? Follow all the fun, flirty antics of the Langston brothers in the second installment of the series by Madison Colt. I am excited to jump into reading the third series about the oldest brother!

Book 2 of the Langston Brothers series. Can be read as a standalone but for maximum enjoyment read the books in series order.

'RED is a witty, steamy small-town western rom-com about unrequited love, sibling rivalry, and the dangerous game of wanting what you can't have.'

The characters were well written and developed. Plot was intriguing and well paced. World building was solidly drawn. All in all a very good addition to series of. Recommend.

This is the 2nd book in the Langston Brothers series. It’s a quick read with plenty of brotherly rivalry and spice. Red has always felt second bet to his brother and he was a little jealous that his brother was engaged to Willa, the same girl he bet his tractor on. When things finally come to a head, he realizes that what he wanted was right in front of him the whole time.

Cowboy romance with family drama. I empathized with the second-best emotional feelings. Unbeknownst to each other, both brothers felt the other had it so much better; the jealously. This is the second novella in the Langston brothers series, with a more emotional, serious look at life than the first book. Still a hood read.

Book 2 in the Langston Brothers series is the perfect short, spicy, fun read following Red as he figures out what and who he wants in his life. Fun read back with the Langston Brothers with appearances by the brothers as they give each other their own form of brotherly love and difficulties. A few laughs on Red's way to forever.

This was a great quick and spicy story. Reed always gets the crap end of the stick. Being the middle sucks. I know, I’m that person lol. But he wants a Willa, Cash’s fiancé. But what he’s not seeing is Precious. She wants him. This man needs to pull his head out. Precious is where it’s at. She’s a wonderful and sweet woman. I really enjoyed this a lot.

Red’s emotional journey from chasing the wrong woman to recognizing Precious feels heartfelt and earned. The story is fast-paced, messy, and tender, with humor and sibling chaos adding charm.

RED

Light and fast-paced. No real depth but a quick, easy read. Could be something super special if the depth was there.

Duel and a quick read

This was a quick read to enjoy in one sitting. I was a little worried that Red was going to be a lead I didn’t like, but in the end I enjoyed the story.
