I am the designated reader when my family/friends have gatherings; just keep Jon out of the kitchen so he doesn't make a fool of himself! So I read this book to a group of children. Fun and exciting - lots of interactive things to do! Really like seeing small children smile when you read to them; gives me hope for the next generation.

Bizzy Bear goes on a lot of adventures, as documented in his many books. I am starting to doubt the authenticity of his tales however, as this dinosaur park appears to be located very close to his home - not even a ferry ride across the sea. How does the dinosaur park keep the pterodactyls from soaring away? When he goes on a proper vacation Bizzy Bear takes a taxi, an airplane, and more to travel, so we know he can and will travel. We know he depicts his travel methods when he does. I’m very alarmed by the proximity of this dinosaur park to Bizzy Bear’s town. Perhaps this was all a fever dream? I hope BB is well and continues to share his life with us through these sturdy interactive books.

Bizzy Bear and Bunny go on safari to the dinosaur park in this board book with moveable pieces. They spend the day happily following the trail of the colorful dinosaurs and end with a “meal” at the Dino Diner.
Simple rhyming text enhances the effect of the sliding and spinning parts as toddlers learn to hear the text first and then slide the moveable parts. Most of the moving parts are on guided tracks with holes meant for fingers. This track system will encourage gentler use of some of the moving parts, but others like the spinning wheel of flying and land dinosaurs may break easier under pressure from toddlers who are developmentally hard on parts like these. The rhymes are cute and clever, making them fun to repeat. My biggest concern is the illustrations of the last section at the diner. While the text announces “Bizzy Bear, Bizzy Bear, time to eat!” the slide reveals the waiter carrying “cocktails” (one in a martini glass) complete with drink umbrellas to the table. This reveal would have been better matched with the text if there were food items on the tray as well as being more content appropriate for such a young audience.

I would recommend this book for optional purchase for public libraries.
