I've said that I hate when comic/graphic novels throw in so many characters that I get a headache?
This series is the exception to that rule.
You have Superman off still being a turdhead. (I like him better that way so we will forgive him)..Everyone is running around trying to save the earth..blah blah blah.

Cue lots of fight scenes! I loved those!

Then the star of the whole book.

Miss Harley Quinn!

December 27th : Reread before giving in year 3!

Actual rating : 3.5 stars

Volume 1 : Injustice: Gods Among Us, Vol. 1 ★★★★★
Volume 2 : Injustice: Gods Among Us, Vol. 2 ★★★★★
Volume 3 : Injustice, Year 2, Vol. 1 ★★★★

There's definitely something to say about a series when you can't help binge reading volume after volume. I'm not gonna lie, every time I start a volume I'm scared that it will be the one that bore me or whatever. Well, it could have been this one, but in the end, I'm still glad to have read it. While I can't deny that I didn't like it as much as the others (especially the first two), I still was captivated from the beginning to the end - but I have issues with the plot, sadly.

Can you guess with the COLOR? WAY TOO MUCH GREEN LANTERN DRAMA. I swear, I feel like every other storyline is fading to black (or almost) and what was acceptable in Volume 3 is growing old here and played with my nerves. I mean, I reached the point that I was waiting for Hal, Kyle, and all their crew to fucking die for the story to focus differently again. But it might be me, I'm not a Green Lantern fan at all.

Apart from this green invasion, I have to admit that some of the last twists were hard to believe from me (I know, I know, we're talking about a What if story, but still, some characters *cough* HAL! *cough* act so stupidly, I can't even) and I'm really curious to see how the story will go from there because frankly? I have no clue.

Anyway, this series keeps my interest wide awake, mostly because ...

1) There's Batman in it (not near enough, though. MORE BATMAN PLEASE)

2) The women are fantastic - Black Canari, Catwoman and Harley, I love you.

3) I'M FUCKING HOOKED.

In a word, despite the fact that I was a little disappointed by this one, Injustice stays an amazing series that you won't regret to try.

YOU GO GIRL.

I literally jumped up and down and put the picture of Superman in yellow on my desktop. I started shivering with something like fear or amazement or shock.

WHAT A DEVELOPMENT!

This is probably one of my favorite comics of all time, now, and while I haven't read as much as some of ya'll, I've read my fair share.

In the DC universe, I think this one tops them all. I may change my mind at some future date, but as of right now, this is tops.

(Though, to be fair, Sandman IS a part of the DC, but THAT title just didn't have the artistic chops that this one brought to my table. Writing is great, but it's the combo punch that really knocks me all to shit.)

I just heard that Tom Taylor is due to come off of this title in the near future…

description

I get it, but man does that SUCK. Injustice has got to be one of the best, if not the best title DC is putting out right now. And thats coming from a guy that typically isn’t a fan of alternate universes or video game tie-ins. Usually hate the shit. (Cuz it usually sucks). Injustice continues to be the exception(for me at least).

description

Year 2 Vol. 2 picks up right where Vol. 1 left off. Still something of the Green Lantern show in this one, but that’s ok. Haven't enjoyed Lantern stories like this since the Sinestro Corps War and some of Johns other Lantern epics. Sinestro continues to be great in this one. I was all over the place with loving and hating the guy. Still hate Supes. And Hal….what a dick. Taylor has gotten me to feel passionate about characters I rarely, if ever, felt anything about. Black Canary also shines. Loved her toe to toe with Superdouche. Lots of great moments that make this a must read title. Even if some of it has been done before, Taylor does it well.

description

The artwork continues to excite. Bruno Redondo, Mike Miller, and Tom Derenick make a great team. The transitions between artists is never jarring and none of them disappoint.

description

The only thing I would have liked to have seen is a little more of Bats and maybe add a few more of DC’s iconic villains to the mix. But trust me, these are very minor complaints. I wanna believe Tom is working towards something with this title.

description

If you are a fan of any of the earlier volumes, PICK IT UP. If you haven’t read any of these collections, you’re missing out on some greatest stuff DC has put out in a long time. Start at the beginning and catch up. It’s DOPE.

Just a Little More Sadistic Than Usual

Introducing first fighting out of the blue corner, the team that has appointed itself absolute ruler of Planet Earth and now governs with an iron fist... Team Superman! Fighting out of the black corner, the team that feels Team Superman has crossed a line it should not have crossed, the team that dares challenge Team Superman... .Team Batman! Are you ready for action?! Then let the galactic superhero war to end all wars begin!!!

We are supposed to cheer for Team Batman, i guess, though I don’t know how comfortable you are with cheering for a team whose members say things like: "We’re going to interrogate them for as much information as we can get, and holding them without due process, we don’t read them their rights. They don’t have any" (Gordon). Or: "I’d prefer it didn’t come to that but these guys have killed a lot of us. So I sure as hell won’t judge you if you want to be just a little bit more sadistic than usual when dealing with them. If you want to aim for particularly tender areas, go for it" (Guy Gardner). I mean, this is how heroes take a stand against the abuse of power?

For the reader, it’s a bit like having to choose between Team Trump and Team Hitler, isn’t it? Oh well, I guess it's okay for our heroes to spurn civil liberties and be "just a little bit more sadistic than usual" - there is a war going on, after all, and only traitors care about civil liberties at times of war... right? Hell, if people are scared and desperate and clueless enough, they may even vote for somebody who couldn't give two shits about civil liberties and promises to be "just a little more sadistic than usual."

Injustice is still one of my favorite things coming out of DC these days. Yes, and it's still basically an excuse to string together a bunch of fight scenes. Big fight scenes, in this book, with the entire GL Corps coming to town. That's one of the few things I wasn't in love with this volume: too many Lanterns, too much Lantern drama. Also, I have mixed feelings about that epilogue.

What keeps me reading Injustice is not the big fight scenes, but the smaller scenes that connect them. Like the enduring awesomeness of Harley. Taylor writes her really, really well, and he introduces a realistic depth to her character that very few writers can convincingly pull off. Her conversation with Dinah is one of the best Harley scenes I've ever read. Harley isn't the only character who's been given so much attention, but I do get the impression that she might be Taylor's favorite. I'm ok with that.

It's still kind of funny to me that one of my favorite DC ongoing series right now is the one that's a video game tie-in. But Injustice has definitely gone above and beyond the call of duty there, and it's been a lot of fun to read.

Hot damn, this series is so addicting that our government should classify it as a controlled substance!

Things start with a perfectly-written opening scene between a Black Canary (too much of her is never enough) and Harley Quinn (best in small doses) that deftly moves between action, humor and drama in ten pages. Just as good is a later hospital scene, also between those two and a new arrival of sorts, which injects even more needed humor into what is otherwise a largely tragic and downbeat story.

Speaking of tragedy - the death toll, injury count, and overall carnage (both earthbound and in outer space) increase so much that it seems like no one or thing will be left standing for the future volumes. Somehow, though, Taylor & company once again don't step wrong and largely avoid the predictable.

Harley Quinn kills it in this series!!

description

I swear she had so many great lines - definitely the winner for me in the final volume of Year 2.

Besides that - there was some pretty killer action sets - some great twists - and it's so freaking wonderful to see more heroes bite the bullet.

I am reading this series for the sheer joy I take in all the carnage and death. I look forward to every issue in hopes that I will see another character I love shock the shit outta me. I mean, might as well right? None of this stuff is cannon. None of it matters. At least not in the main continuity of things. So why not make it all as crazy as it can get?

I can't believe how much I am enjoying this all. It's easily some of the best stuff that DC is putting out right now (at least for me anyways) and I can't wait to read more!

What's so great about a parallel universe is that you can kill off major characters, and the writer certainly takes advantage of this with a good number of characters dying in this volume. Still, I've read parallel universe stories where big names die and as a reader you don't really care because you know it isn't canon (Kingdom Come, ugh Mark Waid is the worst). BUT, in this story I do care! The author writes with just the right amount of emotion with a dash of shock. In fact, one character's death did cause a single tear to trickle down my cheek.

Plus there is this awesome scene where Catwoman says to Damien what every comic reader has wanted to be said since the character was introduced!

YES! HBIC!

Overall, this series continues to be wonderful. This volume was especially action-packed with battle scenes that are well drawn and engaging. This is a quick read that adds more dimension to an already wonderfully interesting story line.

Wow what a volume!

We see the guardians making their plans and whatever is happening in Gotham and the resistance, some great tales of Dinah and Harley and the BOP making their move and when the GLs attack we see Hal and Sinestro (there was a story highlighting their friendship which was good too) and Clark and them fighting and we see them, the "Reign" team going down and such a great moment between Jim and Lex and what he does being a father which will make one cry and its an earned moment and when the war comes homes, choices are made, friendships lost and the sign of hope crumbling and the age of fear rising.

Wow, what a volume again I say as it has too much emotion and gives one so much enjoyment as Superman is totally becoming a bad guy and Taylor writes it really well and he gives these larger than life characters, their epic moments and shows both sides are suffering loss and he truly makes it cosmic and also such moments for Hal which I love which are very gut-punching and I can't compliment how good it is and also the art is amazing. Just a fascinating volume.

Okay- so I'm a canon guy. I like my comics honest to the back-story, without the dream sequences and McGuffins to make infinite crisis-ridden worlds possible, and evil shadow twin Spock incapable of killing the Ninja Turtles.

Sometimes though, you pick up a book and the story is worth it. So let's break out the deus ex machina voices in my head and accept that Superman could turn fascist evil, Hal Jordan can be turned to the yellow side, and Black Canary and Harley could enjoy a girl fight complete with bonding moment.

Storyline - pretty darn good.
Art - really fine, true to the current DC stylebook, and executed well.
Physical book - really swell hardcover, well made, and fits in series well with the rest of Injustice to date. If you like to have hardcover collections of important story arcs, this is a great choice, if a little thin on the extra features that are often so much of a value-add for collections, and justify almost double what the original cover price would have been for the individual comics.

So- a solid 4 outta 5 stars. Perfect if you want to catch up on a whole chunk of this story, and well crafted in all regards.

Standard disclaimer: Intrusion was received as a free ARC copy from the author through goodreads. I have received no compensation or consideration for this review, and offer it as my opinion only.

Olaylar. Yeni cildi gel de bekle şimdi.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Two Volume 2 By Tom Taylor is action packed with a lot of surprises and turns. This volume was a return to form it added the comedy back, some heartbreak, epic fights and happy reunions. Harley Quinn is a very bright spot in this volume, adding humor and heart, with her own twisted sense of humor. Batman is still in the shadows still recovering from what Superman did in year one. Superman goes from protector to dictator as he starts losing foot holds on his turf. This Graphic Novel has had the most significant deaths to the DC Universe (note this comic is in alternate universe and does not effect current DCU. Superman and Hal Jordon both terrorizes in Yellow lanterns of fear as they join Sinestro Corps. Sinestro uses the distraction to settle old scores on Guy Gardener and John Stewart. Dr Fate steps in to write a wrong, by breaking his own code. Cyborg has half of face ripped off. This graphic novel stepped up the epicness of what this comic book series can be. Injustice: Gods Among Us is based on a video titled the same. Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Two Volume 2 By Tom Taylor collects issues 7-12 of Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Two.

The Plot: The Joker tricks Superman into killing Lois and his unborn child, when her heart stops a nuclear bomb destroys Metropolis. Superman distraught kills The Joker and declares martial law on the whole world, vowing that no one should die needlessly. He develops a pill that will make ordinary people super to start an army of supermen that he controls. Batman wants the world to be safe but still give the people free will, Batman sacrificed his body to get the formula for the super pill to give his side a chance. Superman's action have drawn attention to the Green Lantern Corps who's power is all about will power, see this as an affront to not let free will. Sinestro is manipulating Superman telling his own story and the way the Green Lantern Corps will attack, he makes an alliance that brings Sinestro and his minions as added protection. The Gotham P.D. is told they are not needed as the city is being patrolled my Superman's army, but Batman has a gift the pills that give super strength. Jim Gordon has been diagnosed with cancer, the super pills speed up the process but he needs them to protect the city. There's a mole on Superman's team that keeps feeding information to Batman's team. Batman and the Green lantern Corps have started planning attacks together.

What I Liked: The stories are spread out where everybody gets equal time. The Black Canary and Harley Quinn fight is both funny and heartbreaking. Jim Gordon's line to Batman, about he's going to be the one disappearing on Batman this time, when speaking about his cancer, I'm not supposed to cry reading comics. Hal Jordon and Superman putting on the yellow rings of fear. Sinestro's mind games and twist in his narrative. I liked the reveal of the defector on Superman's team. Detective Bullock takes the super pills is a great scene. The many shocking deaths of known characters in the DCU.

What I Disliked: The whole Clayface plot line didn't seem to fit in this series. Clayface says who sent him and it just didn't make sense to me.

Recommendations: This series is super Epic I have enjoyed reading it so much and can not wait to continue it. If you always wanted to see Superman and Batman really go after each other in a bitter blood feud, then this is the comic for you. I thought Volume 1 was the weakest of the series so far and this volume totally redeems that to make this my second favorite volume since the first one that started off the series. I rated Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Two Volume 2 By Tom Taylor 5 out of 5 stars.

To quote the Prophet Chuck from final episode of season 5 of Supernatural, “Endings are hard. Any chapped-ass monkey with a keyboard can poop out a beginning, but endings are impossible. You try to tie up every loose end, but you never can. The fans are always gonna bitch. There's always gonna be holes. And since it's the ending, it's all supposed to add up to something. I'm telling you, they're a raging pain in the ass. So, what's it all add up to? It's hard to say. ... I think they did all right. Up against good, evil, angels, devils, destiny, and God himself, they made their own choice. They chose family. And, well... isn't that kinda the whole point?”

This book exemplifies that, and yet there’s enough of a cliffhanger and unresolved things that we can move forward with the next installment. Batman’s Resistance against Superman’s Regime has made headway. They’ve defeated major players and taken those pieces off the board, but Superman and Sinestro have also seen a victory, at the cost of the lives of many of our heroes, including some of the heaviest hitters. The Green Lantern Corps is decimated, powerful assets are gone, good guys have turned evil. It’s a mess. A glorious, entertaining mess.

Juggling so many characters is no mean feat, and nearly every superhero crossover I’ve read has fallen down in this regard. But not this book. It continues to amaze. Just super entertaining on all fronts, and amidst the giant set piece battles there is plenty of room for character moments.

My favorites include Black Canary’s pregnancy, and giving birth to her son, the father being the murdered Green Arrow.

Seven months later

Good, right? These are cute little moments in the middle of a war between intergalactic powers. And, it does double duty because it shows the passage of time without being obvious about it. This is storytelling hitting on all cylinders.

And notice the art in that third panel. Subtle yet perfect. These books are so great.

İyi haber, Batman’i yeniden sahalarda görebileceğiz.

I kind of hate this series, but it's good at the same time. It's good because it has an interesting storyline, great dialogue, good characters, and great artwork. But I kind of hate it because how else am I supposed to feel when the superheroes I know and love have turned into absolute maniacs?

So this particular volume almost got two stars from me because

So that explains that. I need this series to go ahead and wrap up because I don't know if I can handle Superman's behavior for much longer. Or how easily manipulated Hal Jordan can be. Or all the characters that still have time to die.

Another Injustice graphic novel. Another masterpiece. A bit longer than the last one (which was way too short). I wonder how long they'll keep this storyline. I figure around 3 or 4 more titles before a showdown finale.

I didn't like the artwork this time. It was distracting because the characters looked different. Not as well drawn as the first ones. However, I would like to commend the illustrator for showing a range of emotions/expressions through their faces and body language—now that was well done.

Can't wait for the next one. Please don't take too long.

Harley gets a bit of spotlight and a really funny scene with Black Canary and her pregnancy. She is aiming to be sexiest character too.

The Green Lantern Corps bring in the big guns to face the Sinestro Corps. Batman's forces are still hidden, but will likely upset the balance in the coming war. The Corps' Mogo makes a devastating first attack on the Justice League and the Sinestro Corps. Black Canary is tasked with delivering the killing blow to Superman using a kryptonite bullet, while Gordon's superpowered police force carry out a guerilla assault. Superman continues his downward spiral, apparently unaware of his own corruption and still aiming to save the world no matter the obstacles in his way.

Reviewing both Year 2 Vol. 1 and Vol 2 together. It still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. It's all right to pull all stops and make Superman a supervillain, but I'd rather he owned it than turn into a spineless puppet to Sinestro's evil plans. It's also all right for Supes to be completely unaware of what he is, because he's a goner, but I can't really stand behind people like Flash & Hal Jordan still thinking Supes is any doing any good. Because, there's got to be something wrong with you if you deliberately steer the war with the guardians towards civilians because you know the guardians will never harm civilians. I mean, what even is your issue with the guardians then? How do you justify what you're doing? These heroes don't. Then you get 5 years worth of really stupid shit, which Tom Taylor wisely disengaged himself from once he realized it's more of the same year after year. (I'm thinking. Obviously my opinion is not shared by anyone but the very few, but, it's mine). I'm only interested in how far they'll take this mess.

(I upped one star for each volume because of Wonder Woman being absent (thank heavens for that), and another star for the second volume because I genuinely like the lady trio of Harley Quinn, Black Canary & Oracle).

More flawed logic to justify actions.

World: The art is aight, nothing really special, I just wish the colors were not this...bland. The world building here is still logically inconsistent but I won't get into that as I've been talking about it for three books now, let's just talk about the pieces we found this arc. The expansion with more of the GL into this arc is good, the more detailed look at the resistance is alright, it's shoddy and only there when needed, this world is poorly constructed.

Story and Characters: Fragmented due to the multiple storylines. The stuff with Gordon is okay, the stuff with GL is okay but the logic is still all over the place and idiotic. The end with Canary was pathetically bad writing, "Hey you're dog died, here's a new one...it's exactly the same time!" No...it's not. Superman is fully evil but done poorly not the conviction we get like Timm's Gods and Monsters but half assed badass wannabe evil. The logic leaps are still too much to make me take the character work seriously. Hal is still not Hal and so is Cyborg and Flash...these three have been the biggest logic leaps that the book does not deal with.

Onward to the next book!

I am obsessed with this series! I have found it really interesting to see characters like Jim Gordon take center-stage (especially with his enhanced powers) and Black Carney ( a character I don't know well) having a major role in trying to bring down Superman. This volume centers around the Green Lantern Corps arriving on Earth to battle the united Superman and Sinestro- and ends with the deaths of more DC main players.

This run is so dark, and such a stark contrast from the main timeline of the DC Universe. I’m big into alternate worlds, and multiverse concepts. While I don’t believe this fits into the format of the main universe, it’s such an intriguing in-depth view into another side of these characters.

I’m on to Year Three!
