“The future ahead of them felt fragile. Uncertain. And as he looked at her now—standing there in the quiet firelight, steady despite her fear— something inside him shifted.”
I am so excited to once again step into the world of Ironspire! This story is a beautiful blend of romance, found family, mystery, suspense, and an unshakable devotion to family that remains at the heart of every challenge and triumph. The emotional depth woven throughout the story made it impossible not to become invested in the characters and their journey.
The vivid, immersive writing is exactly what I’ve come to expect from Karen. Her storytelling has a way of drawing readers into the world, making every setting, emotion, and moment feel tangible. The rich descriptions and attention to detail allowed me to lose myself in the story, experiencing both the beauty and tension alongside the characters. Every scene felt purposeful, adding another layer to an already captivating world.
I loved watching Callum, Annalise, Celia, and little Rosalie each discover and embrace their strength in their own unique ways. Whether through quiet perseverance or bold acts of courage, their growth throughout the story was inspiring and heartfelt. Callum’s unwavering faith in and devotion to Annalise was especially moving, while Annalise’s resilience and steady determination made her impossible not to admire. The relationships between the characters felt genuine and meaningful, strengthening the found-family element that I loved so much.
This story never once lost its hold on me. There were moments that brought tears to my eyes, had my heart pounding with anticipation, and left me quietly reflecting on everything the characters had endured. The balance of romance, suspense, and emotional depth kept me fully engaged from beginning to end. By the time I reached the final page, I wasn’t ready to leave this world behind, and the epilogue left me eagerly anticipating what comes next.
I recommend this story to readers who love romantasy filled with rich world-building, vivid and immersive writing, steadfast romance, unforgettable characters, and plot twists that will keep them turning the pages long after their bedtime!
This is the third book on the series and I do recommend reading the books in order to fully immerse yourself into this world.
“The court could speak. It could watch. It could judge. But it could not undo who she was. It could not take her from him. And it would not break her.”

The Prince’s Heart by Karen Rhodes is a captivating addition to this wonderful series. As book four, it continues to build upon the rich world and beloved characters that readers have come to cherish, while delivering a story filled with twists, turns, and surprises that kept me eagerly turning the pages.
Karen Rhodes’ lyrical and enchanting writing draws you in from the very first chapter. Her beautiful prose brings every emotion, danger, and triumph vividly to life, immersing readers completely in the story. The story is packed with heart-stopping moments, including near-death experiences for some of my favourite characters and betrayals that cut deeply, leaving lasting consequences throughout the narrative. More than once, I found myself reaching for the tissues. Several scenes had me crying as the emotional weight of the characters’ struggles, sacrifices, and relationships unfolded on the page.
The prince faces challenge after challenge, forced to grapple with betrayal, uncertainty, and danger without the protection of an army or loyal guards. Watching him navigate these trials tested both his courage and character, making his journey all the more compelling.
As always, the standout characters are his family, whose love and support remain at the heart of the story. Equally memorable is his best friend, whose relationship with the prince continues to develop in such a natural and heartfelt way. Their growing connection adds warmth, tenderness, and hope amid the turmoil, and seeing a friendship slowly blossom into something deeper was one of my favourite aspects of the book.
Filled with adventure, emotion, danger, and unforgettable characters, The Prince’s Heart is a powerful and rewarding read. It made me laugh, cry, and become even more invested in these characters and their journeys. I cannot wait to see where Karen Rhodes takes them in the next book!
I loved this book! One of my favorite things about it was the 15-year time jump. In the previous book, Prince Callum was only 5 years old, so it was wonderful to see him all grown up at 19 and becoming the man he was meant to be.
Callum is such a great character. He is the perfect blend of Queen Alria and King Damon, inheriting the best qualities from both of them. He’s funny, sensitive, intelligent, and has a good heart. Watching him fall in love was one of my favorite parts of the story, but his journey is about so much more than romance.
We also get introduced to several new characters in this book, and I loved every one of them. They each brought something unique to the story and added even more depth, heart, and excitement to Callum’s journey.
Callum has a lot to face in this book as he battles “the enemy within.” His struggles, growth, and determination made him a very relatable and compelling character. I found myself rooting for him every step of the way.
The "enemy" in this book is right within their own walls. Once you find out WHO it is, then there's another surprise right around the corner that you won't see coming!!
One thing I have loved about this entire series is that every book has had a strong plot and storyline. The romance is wonderful, but there is always so much more going on that keeps me turning the pages. Karen Rhodes does a great job blending adventure, emotion, family, and personal growth into every story.
This book was no exception. It was filled with heart, emotion, and excitement, and I was invested from beginning to end. By the end of the book, I felt like I had watched Callum grow from a little boy into a young man and future king. If you enjoyed the previous books in the series, you will definitely want to read this one.
