What do you do when you find a man bleeding in your backyard?

You ignore all common sense, and drag him inside to play nurse, instead of calling 911. This decision brings Caylee Anderson face to face with a lineage that could prove more dangerous than the secret organization whose aim is to end her...

When it comes to Mynystry soldiers, Nik knows better than to split from his partner when the men they’re chasing go opposite directions, but his urge to protect has him charging ahead. Ignoring the warning bells led him to a trap in a suburban backyard. Meeting Caylee brings memories to the surface that Nik has no desire to relive or repeat.

With The Mynystry hunting them, Caylee must help Nik overcome his past to save their future.

Though I was born in Arizona, and have lived in Oregon and Virginia, I now reside in a cozy little town just east of the Rockies here in Colorful Colorado.

I have always had a love for vampires, a love started in my teenage years after watching The Lost Boys.

Although Midnight Warriors does not have any of my loves in them, my other series does, so check back for more information about The Seven - my next series.

I’ve not read a paranormal novel in a while, but this book may have just reignited my love for them! What I loved with this book is that it wasn’t a cliché paranormal with the things that go bump in the night that we’ve all heard of. Melissa Rose has created her own supernatural world for us all to live in, get lost in and totally fall in love.

Whilst this is a “typical” romance story, I thought it brought something new to the table – the complete variety of who’s and how’s and the many different histories to explore intrigued me. It left me wanting more, and that was after I already couldn’t put it down.

This series is a standalone series, and 90% of the time I’m not a fan of these – I like to spend book 1 getting to know my characters and then getting in deep with them in the rest of the series. This set though might be the exception to my rule. The character’s in this series all have their own stories to tell and I can’t wait to read them!

I’d highly recommend this to anyone trying to re-start their love for paranormal romance, and to those hat never fell out of love with it – have no hesitations, this will rock your world!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading “Dark Flames”. It was easy-to-read and extremely fast-paced. The writing seemed to start out a little stiff and stilted. It did get better as I read and was flowing nicely by the ending.

I really enjoyed Caylee’s personality. She was very strong and wouldn’t take any of Nik’s crap. Nik needed to just put the past behind him and live in the here and now. I didn’t like all of the guilt he felt about the deaths of his previous charges. I really wanted to yell at him to just get over it. Other than the guilt, I loved Nik and his alphaness. I also loved all the side characters and hope to read their stories in the future.

Overall a very good book, but I did feel that a lot of questions went unanswered. What was the Mynystry’s goal in capturing Caylee? Why were they testing their powers? What was her father, Maleck, up to? I hope to find out the answers to these questions in future books.

This book is Melissa Rose's debut novel and she broke out into the indie scene with a huge hit! This novel is a fantastic paranormal romantic suspense. The characters are funny and easy to fall for and I am already looking forward to more from this author!

We meet Nik while he is on the snowy streets of Caldonia with his partner Jensen following the enemy, Hunters for The Mynystry. The Hunters lead them to The Red Room a bar that caters to the supernatural kind. They only stay long enough for Nik and Jensen to warm up before leading Nik into a trap and leaving him for dead in the back yard of Caylee Anderson.

Caylee has had a crap day and comes home to her dog Mali barking a greeting. After dinner and half a book Mali wants out and begins to bark forcing Caylee to investigate. What she finds is a body. A live male body. After a huge struggle, with herself mentally and him physically she gets him to her house and attempts to call for help only to be stopped by him. He tells her how to take care of him and she is thinking he is Mob.

The truth is a whole lot more thrilling and she finds the romance and adventure she craved, and more than she ever thought possible. The danger is close and it gets closer, can they stop it?

These two spark off each other no matter what they are doing. This book caused me to laugh out loud a few times and Nik is of course drool worthy, making him every woman's dream man. We all wish for someone like him. Then you have Mali and she makes the book even more special. You have to read it to know just how special Mali is. This book is impossible to put down.

I won a copy of Dark Flames during participation at a recently hosted "book event," and boy, was I in for a sweet surprise when I was finally able to sit down with it (...pretty much stayed in place until finished). Ms. Rose has already set the bar fairly high, if this is a first effort.

Loved, loved, loved the characters! Both for the real feel of them as well as for how they interacted. Nic makes a wonderful "reluctant" hero when it comes time to do his job, and the hints of his memories do a good job of explaining why. The pairing with Caylee and the development of their relationship is fun to read, besides being hot.

Agreed that there are a LOT of characters and details to sort out, but if this was written with the idea of a series from the get go, then it was well set up. My favorite thing is how the fantasy (paranormal) mixed up so well with the humor, the suspense, and the mythology. If you can get me to wince, then giggle, then gush within ten consecutive pages, you've got my attention.

Like many, I'm in love with Mali the dog. One wonders if the dog could get its own story... In any case, I'm REALLY looking forward to Jensen's story (*hopeful expression*). On the weird side, I was totally entertained by Malek as the bad guy.

Absolutely looking forward to the next book!

I just want to start by saying, I adored Mali. I heart huskies. That.Is.All.

Just Kidding, that's not all. I have loads more to say.

I really, really enjoyed this. It was humorous, sexy and well thought out. You have a little bit of everything in here. There are elementals, there are shifters, there are demons, there are angels and who knows what else. Perfect read for the paranormal lover.

Caylee and Nik play off each other so well. Even when they are trying to deny things, you just can't when its what was meant to be. I soooo need to live in a paranormal world.

There is so much going on and yes, by the end your mind will still be swirling and churning trying to piece things together. I gave up. I figure, I'm gonna find out in the next book. Oh, but I have lots and lots of questions and I'll be waiting very impatiently for my answers. I'll be keeping an eye out for the next one.

Caylee just found out what she is and who her protector is, Nik. After Caylee saved Nik's life, his decision to stay away and let the other Spartoi Warriors protect her up close does not work out so well after Caylee, Hawk and Mali are attacked by the Mynstry. Nik and Caylee have a connection, Nik is determined not to fail another charge, but Caylee thinks there is something wrong with her since Nik refuses to follow through with the Oathing Ceremony. Then Malek, Caylee's father make an appearance and introduces himself to Caylee. She knows he is not good, he is a fire demon and that means she is an Elemental and Fire demon. Will Nik leave his past where it belongs and complete the Oathing ceremony to protect Caylee? Nik is all warrior, hot, commanding and HOT! Caylee is fiery and not one to be ignored. This is a well written story. It leaves a lot of questions unanswered, but that just makes it even more intriguing. I give this 4 stars.

Different, Sweet, Funny and Romantic

Nice four star rating. This was a nice reprieve after the last novel I read. Ms. Rose did a wonderful job at creating a world with various blends of supernatural characters and plot. Her writing style was nice with a smooth flow that kept my attention. The characters were all very interesting, even the hero when he was being an arse. Each of her characters were nicely woven into the storyline; their lineage, their relationships, their chemistry, friendships, etc.

The H/h did not have that instalove thing going on which was a nice change. They grew on eachother. They did have good chemistry that continued to grow as circumstances pit them together.

Overall a very nice PRN and yes I would recommend this to others. There was very minimal spelling errors or missing words (great relief when reading). I'm looking forward to more on this series.

I really liked this book, Paranormal romance/ suspense with characters who were well developed and fun. This book had some giggle moments but the best parts were possibly Mali, the husky. I'm serious! Nik and Caylee had chemistry and you wanted them to be together. Caylee discovers some truths about herself helping Nik *no spoilers.*

For the paranormal lover, there is pretty much every kind of "being" in this book. My only gripe, there was a lot going on in this book and sometimes it took away from other parts of the story's development. Can't wait for the next book in the series. So much going on that I need to know more.....

This book was really good. I loved most of the characters and the ending. The ending was a good way to end a book like this one, what with the action. I loved Dark Flames.
