That was a WILD ride!! I'm not even entirely sure wtf I just read... Which is just how I like it! Book 1 in The Beautiful Creatures of Hillsboro Institute was an absolute fever dream of gore and violence and I couldn't get enough. I read so many different genres, but extreme horror, gore and splatterpunk is and always will be my favorite. And Ashlynn delivers every time.

I've screamed it before and I'll keep screaming it till my throat is raw... An unstable, unreliable narrator is my absolute favorite micro trope and Miss Lolli had me so unsure of what was really going on. At times it feels like it's all just playing out in her head, and at other times, I'm sure it's all really happening and that Hillsboro is a sentient being. An actual character in the book just like our leading lady klown and her deliciously written and broken, lunatic cohorts. I'm still sitting here trying to decide if I think it's all real or just some elaborate hallucination. Here's just a few things you can expect when picking this one up...

... plus a whole lot more really questionable stuff, that I absolutely loved and couldn't get enough of. And then that ending?! Not a cliffhanger, but also yes, a cliffhanger; it just left me hungry and beyond ready for book 2. And no, I didn't talk about 'the boys', but they're each extremely intense and all in for their Lolli-Gag. I think Jagger is my personal favorite though. Or Killian. I can't wait for you to meet everyone at Hillsboro! Which, speaking of, houses some really dark sh*t and murderously insane patients. Needless to say, this one is dark. Pitch black. And there's lots of intense, morally black themes and situations. Ashlynn's stories are not for newbies or the faint of heart. Please, please thoroughly go over the trigger warning and content lists before you slip between these blood red pages. Your mental well-being is so important and not worth risking over a work of splatterpunk fiction. This is not a 'dark romance ', this is extreme, toxic obsession wrapped up in bloody flesh, with gore covered spice woven throughout, so you need to be prepared. This one might not be for everyone, but it's 100% for me and I cannot recommend Lolli-Gag enough to those who are like me and enjoy erotic, extreme horror. You need to run and read this book, like, yesterday!

Lolli-Gag was a wild ride, and filled with absolute pure chaos that I ate up ❤️ We’re thrown headfirst into a dark world where reality blurs, and I genuinely never knew what was coming next! Lolli is inside Hillsboro Institute, an institution filled with secrets, violence, and some seriously unhinged residents 😳 Between the psychological mind games and constant uncertainty about what’s real, this book kept me hooked from beginning to end!

Lolli is chaotic, unpredictable, and completely unforgettable ❤️ Aside from her relationships with Killian, Jagger, Lucifer, and Vinny, her connection with Jethro added another layer of mystery to the story, and I loved never quite knowing whether I could trust what she was seeing or experiencing. Despite all the darkness surrounding her, there was something oddly endearing about her character. I never knew what she was going to do next, and that made her incredibly entertaining to follow! ❤️

Killian, Lucifer, Jagger, and Vinny were just as damaged and fascinating as Lolli, and they each brought their own brand of insanity to the story ❤️ Their obsession with Lolli created plenty of tension throughout, and while they’re far from healthy love interests, their fierce loyalty and protectiveness toward her made for some intense dynamics! Jagger especially seemed to steal the spotlight whenever he was on page 🤭

This was a fun and twisty ride that is dark, disturbing, and has the right blend of psychological mind games and suspense, obsession, a bit of romance, and it sure isn’t afraid to push boundaries ❤️ It’s violent, twisted, and I really enjoyed the unreliable narrator aspect! The ending left me with more questions than answers and I am very ready to see what happens next ❣️

Reading all these novels has made me now wanna read Kings of Chaos and Mayhem series as well as the Cyprus Brothers

I love how her novels connect, and I definitely recommend reading those series first or even going back to get an idea of the others. I can’t wait for the second novel in this series! This rollercoaster of emotions isn’t over just yet, and I need to know what will happen next for them!

COMPLETE OBSESSION

I absolutely DEVOURED Lolli-Gag in a single day! I literally could not put this book down if I tried. If you have a weakness for deranged clown aesthetics, psycho heroines, and Asylums just go ahead and one click this right now because it completely owns my heart.

🤡 The Ultimate Psycho Queen Lolli

Our girl is everything. I am utterly obsessed with her character the clown makeup, her chaotic energy, and the sheer level of psychoness she brings to the table. And can we talk about Jethro? The voice in her head added such a brilliant, twisted layer to her character. I loved every single second of her inner dialogue.

🩸 The Men & The Vibes

The dynamic between her and the guys is pure perfection. I loved how Killian, Lucifer, Jagger, and Vinnie all had that fiercely protective, "touch her and 💀" energy. It sets the stakes so high and the tension is immaculate.

Speaking of the guys:

• Axel: A mute character? Say less. He completely stole the show for me even though we didn't get much of him 😭. I am a total sucker for a mute and I am desperately hoping we get so much more of him in the next book!

• Jagger: He drew me in immediately. He gave me major Theo vibes from the Dancing with My Demon series. They are completely different characters, but that specific, intoxicating vibe was identical, and I was hooked instantly

Lolli has been in an institution for a hot minute after the world tried convincing her that she harmed herself. Fun fact she didn’t …her mom literally tried to bake her in an oven! Lolli has a fun imagination and her mental voice Jethro tends to act as protector/ guardian. Everything is going like any other day until three new faces make an appearance Killian, Lucifer and Jagger. Vinny joins in later but he’s been there in the shadows just watching everything and no one ever noticed him. Vinny and Jagger have romantic history but all 4 guys are friends and have history. While all four of them develop an obsession with Lolli you discover what exactly each in struggles with. They are all insane and a little murdery but that makes it such a good story. This book does end in a cliffhanger and you will need like two days to process everything because Ashlynn loves to keep us waiting for more !

Holy Smokes, this book really had me concentrating hard with all that was going on. A little girl trying to live a normal life but with the mother she had it was plain impossible. Her mother was evil and would do anything to get rid of her daughter and that's exactly what she tried to do. She was then deemed insane and was sent to an asylum and has been there since. She has made a handful of friends she could trust but she mainly keeps to herself.

Then three guys come in and they all have issues (obviously) and the all seem to have taken a liking to Lolli (Logan is her real name) and for some reason they all seem to stick together and they protect her. But the dean of the asylum seems to have this thing with testing his patients and every patient gets a different kind of test, one he believes suits them. He portrays himself to be a nice guy but he really isn't.

Lolli and her boys need to find a way to get the heck out because in all reality do they really belong there?

I enjoyed this messed up story immensely and I love anything by this author so I shall continue reading her books in the future

Grab your grippy socks and strap in for this one! The first book in a new why choose, dark romance series, Ashlynn knocked it out of the park with this one. Lolli was a kick ass FMC with a whole lot of crazy packed into a little package. After what she endured from her mother as a child, Lolli was sent to Hillsboro, where darkness lurks around every corner and reality is but a figment of the imagination. Within those walls, she meets our MMCs, Killian, Lucifer, Jagger, and Vinny. Curiosity deepens into attraction and obsession, but Hillsboro is not the setting for a happy and healthy relationship to bloom, with those behind the scenes pulling strings to test their connection for breaking points. Our MMCs are each their own personal breed of insanity, but they share a devotion to Lolli at all costs. The spice in this one was far from vanilla and had me fanning myself. We even get some MM with two of our MMCs and I was here for it. Overall, I highly recommend this one, but check your TWs if needed, as this one of DARK!

What on earth did I just read??

I don’t know..,but I loved it!!! I read that this was an erotic horror but I feel like it was more psychological than horror. Or maybe it was. Physiological Horror. That sounds about right. Because the mind games in this book are on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!! I mean just when I expected Ashlynn to duck…she jumped. When I expected her to bob, she weaved. That was one heck of a mindf**k!!!

Lolli, Jagger, Lucifer, Killian and Vinnie were out-freaking-standing characters. Each with their own trauma and quirks, but all amazing! I swear I did not put this book down once! I even took it to the bathroom with me so I didn’t have to stop reading! I know, I know…TMI…but soooooo true.

I will sit on the edge of my seat and biting all of my fingernails off until I get the next book. I can’t believe there are going to be five and I have to actually WAIT in between! This is why I normally wait for the whole series to be out. I am not a very patient person!! But I am hooked so I’m going to do my very best!!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Smokescreens, with lies and Murder.
It’s just another average day at the asylum designed to break her after years of being abused by her mother and men. The same mother Who drugged her then tried the whole Hansel and grettle thing and tried to cook her she then gaslights everyone to think Lolli did it to herself.
Her imaginary friend Jethro gets her through the tough times at the hands of the orderlies ( some revenge may have been plotted and carried out with tasteful giggles and bloody smiles)
she trusts her friends and likes A routine until she meets the newbies Killian clinically assessing everything, jagger brute force and brutality, Lucifer with his own voices and smiles and lastly the late arrival Vinny always in the shadows and calculating situations. This book has you guessing what’s real, what’s in the drugs that makes it so life like with horrific hallucinations and why they are being played with. Why were these particular Patients brought together as part of Master D experiments

Geez do I have questions now! 😅😂 This was a mindfuck of a story, and in typical Ashlynn fashion it ends in a cliffhanger leading to book 2 of the series. First off; READ THE TRIGGERS! This takes place in a mental asylum so it is DARK! Ok now then. My heart broke for Logan! As a mom, reading what her mother did to her hurt beyond anything. I can't even begin imagine hurting my kids the ways her mom did and sleep like I didn't straight up abuse my kids. I get why Logan became Lolli-gag, honestly the transformation makes so much sense. The men, where to even start with them. I can't lol I'm still trying to wrap my mind around them, their just something else 🤭. Master D, now he is someone I'm really trying to figure out. And is Vinny his son?! Again so many questions! There is spice but keep in mind this is an erotic horror, so there is also gore. This starts with Lolli or Lolli-Gag (Logan) in a mental institution because her mother actually tried to cook her. In an oven. Yeah.

In said mental institution she meets Jagger, Killian, Lucifer, and Vinny. Jagger is the muscles and is completely obsessed with Lolli. Killian is the OCD surgeon. Lucifer is the always calm and smiling golden retriever energy. And Vinny is the quiet shadow. Speaking of "shadows", Lolli also has an imaginary shadow friend, Jethro, and he has been with her from the start.

I had to actually concentrate and try to understand some of this after reading the same thing several times. It's a true mind f. Thank you Ashlynn for the application to the mental institution, I will be submitting it promptly.

I gave this 4 stars because I truly just want more. I need to know everyone's story and what happens next. I really enjoyed this and can't wait to get to the next book.

Ashlynn did amazing as always! I absolutely love an unhinged asylum story so I was beyond excited for this one! The story takes place in Hillsboro Mental Institute of the Criminally Insane. Logan, our FMC gets sent there after an incident at home. We then get to meet Lolli-Gagm who is literally just off her rocker but I totally love it. Lolli ends up with what I to call her little "gang of psychos". We have Jethro, Lucifer, Killian, Vinny and Jagger. They are very protective over Lolli and are equally as crazy. However, let's not forget about Axel. Axel and Lolli also help protect each other.

There are twists and turns in this story really just leave you not wanting to put the book down. There's a little revenge in this story as well. Hillsboro is completely unhinged; the patients, the orderly's, the guards. I couldn't put this book down! It is definitely my favorite book by Ashlynn and I can't wait for more!!

Haunted by the childhood trauma inflicted by her mother, she ends up in Hillsboro, a psychological labyrinth where reality bends, and danger is constant.

Enter Killian, Lucifer, Jagger, and Vinny. (We love a good why choose) The chemistry between Lolli and these four men shifts rapidly from curiosity to a dark, consuming obsession. (as it should) But Hillsboro is a pressure cooker, and unseen forces are pulling the strings to tear them apart. Each MMC is uniquely unhinged, yet their fierce loyalty to Lolli is their ultimate anchor. The spice is off-the-charts hot (featuring some top-tier MM content that I absolutely loved). Overall, it’s a massive five-star recommendation from me, but absolutely check the TWs before diving into this darkness.

The action in this story was amazing the details in the scenes and the emotions it was like I was totally watching this play out as a movie in my mind. Lolli is a complete bad@ss I love her and how she cares and protects all of her friends. Jagger definitely my favorite very protective of the people he cares for and if you do literally anything to harm them you better hope you become invisible or something to avoid his absolute perfect rage. Vinny, Killian, and Lucifer I like them too but I have questions... Y'all this story is fricken AMAZING, all over the place, gory, unhinged, spicy, gut-wrenching, bloody, loud, confusing so take notes..

Wow! This erotic horror romance was an incredible wild ride, bursting at the seams with pure chaos.

Hillsboro Institute is an institution for the criminally insane, which houses some seriously questionable and unhinged patients and is filled with violence, gore, gruesome trials, torture and secrets.

Lolli is an unforgettable FMC, always giggling, covering her scars with clown make up and is a seriously unreliable narrator. She had me questioning what the hell was happening in her mind so many times throughout this book. Was it real or was it all in her head?

Let’s not forget the MMC’s who all played crucial roles in the story, and I have yet to pick a favourite!

Overall, this book is dark, twisted, filled to the brim with psychological games and trigger warnings. The ending blew me away! Definitely a 5 star read and I am starving for book 2!

I'm at a loss for words. This book was insane; action packed, gory in a way I can't describe and only Ashlynn can do, spicy, and above all, unhinged. I loved this book, I read it in one sitting and had to process what I just read in order to write this review. Lolli is a mess; she hears people that aren't there, sees things that don't exist and honestly I'm not sure if she's hallucinating or not. But Lolli is a protector above all else. Her mom failed to protect her and that's how she ended up at Hillsboro Institute as a permanent resident. When the new boys arrive, Lolli takes notice; but of much more that their appearance; she notices who they are and what they need. This book was a mind f*ck and I can't wait to see more of Lolli and her men. Please, please, please read your trigger warnings. And have your grippy socks ready, you'll need them for this book.

This is Ashlynn's new dark romance series kicking off with a strong start. Lolli, a fierce FMC, carries trauma from her childhood, leading her to Hillsboro, a dark place where reality blurs. There, she meets Killian, Lucifer, Jagger, and Vinny, with curiosity turning into obsession. Hillsboro's sinister environment tests their relationship, as external forces manipulate their bond. Despite their madness, the MMCs are fiercely devoted to Lolli. The story features intense spice, including MM scenes with two MMCs, and is highly recommended. Warning: it is DARK, so check TWs.

Can this book be read as a standalone absolutely..... but if you want a deeper understanding and love of Axel you can read the Cyprus Brothers books. We met Lolli in the Kings books and they also tie into others in this world.

Lolli and her men take us on a crazy wild ride!!! Jethro is my FAVORITE side character!!! But he's also always there and knows things!! Each guy brings something different to the table. My god what did I just read!!! It seemed like it was a mindf*ck the whole time that I read it twice. Yes, you read that correctly, I read it twice. I am still not sure if all this was in Lolli's mind. That is how good Ashlynn is with her books. This book is not for the weak and please make sure you read all the triggers (it's about a page and a half). Then you have Lucifer, Killian, Jagger, and Vinny...they all want Lolli but can she truly trust them. Hillsboro Institute has too many secrets and Master D is the gatekeeper of these secrets. I really want to know who Master D is and can't wait for book 2, Killer-Kut.

What a freaking ride! I absolutely ate this book up from beginning to end. Lolli and her men give you all of the emotions. Lolli has been in Hillsboror since she was young, after an incident with an oven. She knows she didnt do it to herself but no one around her will listen. No one but her imaginary friend, Jethro. I absolutely LOOOOVED Jethro. He is probably my favorite of the guys. Then in come Lucifer, Killian, Jagger and eventually Vinny. Yes, friends, this is an insane why choose situation. We get EVERYONE'S POVs. Or do we?! That pesky unreliable narrator makes you question EVERYTHING. 5 freaking stars! The spice is very VERY good. THIS BOOK IS HEAVY ON THE TWs SO PLEASE READ THEM!!

HOLY STRAIGHT JACKET and GRIPPY SOCKS!!! Lolli will make you giggle and looking over your shoulder. If you ever had an imaginary friend, you might belong next to Lolli if you can still see them or still speak with them. This story has the padded walls closing in on you and have your mind wondering what you just read! True to Ashlynn fashion, pick up the crumbs as you turn the pages. It may just help you escape this place unscathed. We do get to see Axel and the infamous Master D. Just know this world is bigger than this book and you will fall in love with all of them, except one. Pick up your breadcrumb as you enter through the doors.

If you have read the Kings of Chaos and Mayhem series, particularly Bedlam, then you will know our FMC, Lolli! She's such an intensely misunderstood girl, in an place where no matter what truth she shares, she's always treated like she's delusional and can't accept the narrative she fed. Until three new intakes happen, and they SEE her. Nothing is what it seems at
Hillsboro Institute for the Criminally Insane and the person pulling the strings has plans for all those involved.

Welcome to Hillsboro Institute home of my new favorite little psycho Lolli-Gag and her deranged men💜 And let me tell you, Ashlynn knows how to write scenes that will make you cringe from just how F'd up they are. This book was one wild ride that had me questioning my sanity every now and then. The amount of "W-T-ACTUAL-F" moments in this book was on a whole other level of unhinged. There has already been an attempt to ban the book so that should tell you just how messed up and dark this book is which should make you want to read it even more too. Run and get your copy, you never know if you will lose the chance.

OMG!! I loved this!! It's Lolli & her guys' story & it was absolutely insane in the best way!! Lolli has been in Hillsboro for a long time; her mom had major issues. She notices some new guys & they each have their own trauma; it was heartbreaking seeing all that they had been through. But this place is not for getting better & the Dr. there uses experimentation on his patients & wants to see how they each respond. This was a mindf*ck of epic proportions & has you questioning what's real or not. I loved the spice & the story was amazing!! Highly recommend this book & author! Please keep in mind, this is NOT an easy read, they all have varying levels of trauma!

This book was a true mind-bender in classic Ashlynn fashion.Dark, twisted, and completely unhinged, this story is packed with gruesome moments and potentially tough content, so be sure to check the content lists and go in with the right mindset.

It’s depraved, spicy, and full of twists that kept me questioning everything. Ashlynn takes readers on a wild ride, and just when you think you know what’s happening, she throws in another curveball.

Also, keep your eyes open there may be connections to her other stories. I’m still asking myself, what did I just read? And I mean that in the best way possible. 4⭐️s.

What a wild, crazy, ride! If you love psycho FMCs and MMCs, then, you will most definitely need to read this book. So, what are you waiting for, sign the appointment book and become the newest patient of Hillsboro Institute and get to know Lolli, Killian, Lucifer, Jagger, and Vinny.

You know the nest part about a why choose romance book, is that you don't have to choose a favorite about the MMCs. Which is a great thing as I could not pick just one...well maybe but I won't tell. Lolli was giving me Harley Quinn vibes.

The further I got into the story, the crazier it got. If you start this book, you won't be able to stop until the last page. Lolli-Gag is an all nighter read!

After reading this mind destroyer of a wonderful book, I had to take a day to get my thoughts in order. From the first sentence to the last I was on the edge of my seat. I almost got whiplash from every turn that took place. I cried, I screamed and I laughed but I'm unsure on the emotion of why I was laughing (if that makes sense). Anyway if you are as messed up as me and obviously the author, run and get this book. P.s. make sure you read and understand the warning. I do not say that lightly. I give a chiefs kiss to Ashlynn!!!! Oh by the way I'm ready for book two !!

Here we go again with another amazingly book by Ashlynn!!

Misewell just go ahead and grab your grippy socks and hold on for this one! We have arrived to Hillsboro Institute for the mentally insane. Lolli has been here for a hot minute after the world tried to convince her that she harmed herself. I mean her own mom literally tried to bake her in an oven! Yes you heard that right!! She is known as the resident clown along with her imaginary friend Jethro, and well as long as you stay on her good side you just might end up safe.
