From the cofounder of Food Not Bombs, an action-oriented guide to anarchism, social change, and vegan cooking
Unlike the original Anarchist Cookbook , which contained instructions for the manufacture of explosives, this version is both a cookbook in the literal sense and also a “cookbook” of recipes for social and political change. The coffee-table–sized book is divided into three a theoretical section explaining what anarchism is and what it isn’t; information on organizational principles and tactics for social and political change; and finally, numerous tasty vegan recipes from one of the cofounders of the international Food Not Bombs movement.
Just a catch up title. This is the exact opposite of the anarchist cookbook. I don't say it's a wrong book, the message and content is definitely more positive and pacifism then the original one, but I just hate people that make publicity from another thing that is just not even closely related so I have no other choice then give it bad rating...
Very good book on anarchism and how to orginize and do activism. The only problem is the author insistence that Anarcihms is agaist violence. All major anarcisht theoreticians from the 1800 where bery much in favor or revolutionary violence and terrorism. So this book is not neccecarly a representative of all anarchists. The arguments against violence as tactic in this book are well constructed. I live in Finland and here the anarcihst are mostly non-violent. But that is more, because of the political conditions here in Finland, not because they are pascifist.
The other problem its the gardening chapter that is very much US centric.
Not terrible by any means, but it’s not something you’d read for intellectual stimulation per se. It covers a lot of ground already tread over and has value if you are an activist. Besides that, it’s not Earth shattering or life changing stuff. If you buy it, refer to it like an instruction manual in that you refer to it as necessary rather than read it from start to end (that’s kind of redundant anyway as 100 odd pages is a literal vegan cookbook).
Phenomenal interpretation of anarchism as a political and philosophical ideology, accomplished within the first twenty or so pages.
A must read for anyone interested in modern leftist and revolutionary theory, as well as anyone interested in the practical application of anarchist principles like by movements such as Food Not Bombs.
