I got a hold of Nancy Robards Thompson's November Harlequin Special Edition , His Texas Christmas Bride and I couldn't wait to crack it open and read it. I knew it was certain to be a good book before I even started reading because I had fallen in love with Nancy and her books a couple years back when I read Celebrations Bride and I couldn't imagine that her latest, His Texas Christmas Bride would be any different. I was wrong.... it was BETTER!!! I loved the chemistry you felt between Becca and Nick from the moment they saw each other. Without even speaking a word you could literally feel and taste it thanks to Ms. Robards Thompsons way with words. The interaction not only between the couple but also between both Becca and her family and Nick and his father was a site to see and feel.... I could literally see it in my mind like I was watching a movie unfold on the big screen in front of me. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen with Nick and Becca (I knew they'd end up together because lets be real, they have to end up together. But it's seeing it unfold and finding out how it all plays out that's the nail biting part for me.) And seeing how they each find the strength and will to face their parents and start healing themselves and their family's was even better than I could imagine. So if you want to read a book that not only captures your heart but your imagination as well as it comes to life from the pages of a book then I recommend that you run out and grab a copy of His Texas Christmas Bride and take an escape from reality . Definitely a keeper for me.
Becca Flannigan was the "good" daughter in this "perfect" family. So a trip to the Emergency Room with food poisoning wasn't the place to reveal the secret that she's three months pregnant to anyone! Unfortunately, her best friend who was also her boss brought her there when she collapsed at work and she found out. Becca told her the whole story, including that she didn't think she'd ever see the father again. Then he came into her cubicle as the attending ER doctor! Eyes met, recognition dawned, and oh, no, "We need to talk." Even Dr. Nick Ciotto can count and soon they are discussing what to do about the situation. Becca says Nick needn't marry her which is good because he has commitment issues. Then they discover she's carrying twins. Nick wants to be a part of his children's lives but he's still torn, until Becca is in a fender-bender accident.
I haven't read any of the Celebration stories before but I have read this author before and thoroughly enjoy her writing. This story is fresh and fast-paced. The story opening in the ER with the unexpected arrival of Nick as her doctor was a surprise that neither Becca nor the reader expected. As each of them work through their family issues that most of us can identify with, we are drawn further into their lives and root for a HEA.
I was given this book by the author for an honest review and I have tried to do so.
It wasn't in her life-long plan to be virtual strangers with the man she just found out she's pregnant with twins with, but Becca Flannigan can't make herself regret it either. Who knew the one and only time in life she had a one night stand with a hot doctor, THIS would happen.
At the hospital with family one night, Becca meets Nick Ciotti, then runs into him again at a restaurant later that night and spends the night with him. Three months later, she stumbles across him again and he finds out they are pregnant. They start to spend time together to get to know each other, then sort of start dating. Becca wants the fairy tale family, but Nick doesn't think he has it in him to give it to her. He had tragedy in his life as a kid and his family splintered. He has no role model of what a father and family is supposed to be. Can he find the strength to overcome his past and have a future with Becca, or will he set her free because he doesn't think he's worthy of her and their babies?
I loved this book! I started reading and couldn't put it down. Both of these characters are scarred from the families they grew up with, but you can't help but like them. He's standoffish when he feels cornered, but so sweet when he lets his guard down. And she's sort of meek when she lets her family walk all over her, but you find yourself rooting for her anyway.
Serendipity strikes Becca and Nick as they find themselves in the midst of a life changing event. Their one night of passion has led to the most grounding of situations when Becca discovers she is pregnant with twins. Although Nick and Becca have their doubts and obstacles to overcome, they both agree that the future of their children takes priority over everything else.
The writing is vibrant and flows so effortlessly I didn’t put the book down until I reached the end. Relatable and life-like characters carry with them problems and hurts from the past that made them feel like friends and family. The story delivers a lovely message of hope and the goodness of people shining through to overcome life’s difficulties and the emotional journey Becca and Nick undergo is satisfying and sigh-worthy. Most of all, I just loved how Becca and Nick coming together gives a glimpse of how love can transcend all of our earthly woes and set us on a fresh, brightly lit path leading toward hope for the future. I highly recommend His Texas Christmas Bride!
Nancy Robards Thompson has created a town where family and community are essential values, and in her latest Celebration Texas novel His Texas Christmas Bride, Ms. Thompson does not disappoint the reader. Becca Flannigan is a strong individual who discovers that she is having a baby by a man that she barely knew, but before she can even tell her family and friends, the father of her child shows back up into her life. Nick Ciotti is the handsome doctor that is the father of Becca’s child, and he is unaware that his life is about to change in a huge way when he accepts the emergency room position that he had applied for at the time he had met Becca. Together these two people must find a way to come together and raise the beautiful life they created. Ms. Thompson has created a believable story with well-developed characters that will leave the reader wanting to get to know all of the citizens of Celebration Texas. I was given this book to read by the author for an honest review.
His Texas Christmas Bride by Nancy Robards Thompson was a well paced, enjoyable surprise baby read that made my heart feel so good!
I really enjoyed Becca and Nick as they embarked on this unanticipated journey to parenthood, whether it be together or apart. How they find each other again after a one night stand three months ago is unexpected...and not especially how Becca wants to see Nick again after all that time (something that is understandable!). Becca had been trying to find Nick to no avail...and now here he is...a man who she hardly knows who can still make her heart race. There is no hiding her pregnancy from Nick, and together they must find the best way to move forward for the babies sake as well as theirs.
It is not an easy thing for either of them to do. Both of them have family dynamics that have helped shape who they are today, and they both still struggle with this and how it affects their lives. Nick, with a family tragedy that tore his family apart and for which he blames himself. Becca with a very domineering mother and a sister who she doesn't always get along with. I liked how they inadvertently helped each other deal with their family issues, and felt that they were good for each other. I especially loved how Nick was with Becca's family, how he stood up for both of them, but especially for her. I could feel the strength Nick doesn't realize he possesses radiating from him as he had Becca's back! I really, really liked how Becca reacted to this unplanned pregnancy. She didn't push Nick away like too many heroines try to do, she didn't try to pull him in or tell him what to do...she simply was Becca, giving Nick someone to lean on who cared for him, showing him how good he was. Making him see himself in a whole other light. For me this made His Texas Christmas Bride a unique, satisfying read.
I liked the secondary characters, from Becca's friend Kate to her family to his father. They all played important roles in this story, and I was very intrigued not only to find out what Nick and Becca's ending would be, but also how the family dynamics would play out. I felt that Nancy wrapped this up very well, and she left me a little tearful!
I'd highly recommend His Texas Christmas Bride to any romance reader looking for a hopeful book that will leave you feeling happy.
Love the chemistry between the hero and heroine in novel. Becca is warm, friendly, open and honest. She owns her own home and has a corgi. Becca tells Nick that she won't force him to be a part of his child's life. This simple statement sets the tone for the novel. Nick is a workaholic and his commitment to his job cost him his first marriage. Nick finds it difficult to talk about his feelings and not close to his family. I liked that the couple were different and didn't agree on everything. Nick supported Becca when she told her family about her pregnancy. He was there for her. Becca encourages Nick to reconnect with his father. She believes talking with his father with help Nick let go of his past.
The secondary characters complement the main characters and add to the story's authenticity. Loved Becca and Nick's date at Kate's house for the Sunday football game and the Flannigan family Thanksgiving dinner. The author did a fabulous job with the girlfriend chat while the men were watching the game. And the overwhelming family dinner conversation was spot on down to the last detail with Becca's mother assuring everyone that Nick and Becca would be married very, very soon.
The author incorporates several fall and winter local traditions in the novel. Nick asks Becca to show him something which is typical of Celebration, Texas. Becca's choice of the Friday night football game surprises Nick. It's the perfect choice as it it allows him to experience first hand a small town at its best. He's able to watch the football game, eat hamburgers and French fries and meet Becca's family and friends on his own terms. The author uses symbolism in the scenes where the couple attends the town's annual tree lighting ceremony and a wedding as a couple.
Forgiveness is not the usual theme for a holiday story. Nancy Robards Thompson weaves a heartwarming story which deals with forgiveness and acceptance on several levels. There were several unexpected twists in the storyline and the novel held my interest. Loved the ending-- it was perfectly written for this couple. Grab a cup of tea and spend an afternoon with His Texas Christmas Bride! It's the perfect novel to read during the holiday season.
I love reading Nancy Robards Thompson's holiday stories. His Texas Christmas Bride is a fast paced story which takes place in the small town of Celebration, Texas. The novel has multi - faceted characters, a unique story line and a meaningful holiday message.

This was a nice Christmas story and another great book in the Celebrations, Inc. series. Becca Flannigan gets a case of food poisoning that lands her in the hospital. There she comes face-to-face with the man she has been searching for for three months, Dr. Nick Ciotta. Becca and Nick really need to talk since their one night stand has led to a couple of complications. Becca is part of a big, wealthy family, but her parents are aloof and she has always been the good girl, which is why she puts off telling them about her pregnancy. Nick doesn't believe in letting anyone get too close, because he doesn't want to hurt anyone nor does he want to be hurt. He has agreed to provide financial support for his children, but nothing else. Becca shows Nick that living in a small town can be great and getting to know your neighbors can be fun. He starts to fall for both Becca and the town, but still believes he'll be a horrible father. When Becca urges him to make amends with his father and his past, Nick begins to realize that if he takes a chance on love, he'll have a very merry Christmas.
Celebrations, Inc is one of my Very Favorite series! Another Outstanding book with Another Amazing couple! Loved Becca - her honesty in trying to find Nick when she learned she was pregnant, her love of her hometown, her sweet "good girl" personality and her role as the peacemaker with her family. AND then there was Nick - tall, dark, sexy with tattoos and a motorcycle - how can you Not love that? AND their Chemistry - WOW - it even transported me to that "magical place"! And of course - just as I thought all those mixed signals had been worked out - along comes the big bump in the road!!! Which all leads up to a great ending and the Perfect Epilogue! Left me feeling happy with a big smile on my face. Christmas stories just don't get any better than this!
Oh and then there was Priscilla the corgi - a fun added bonus to the story!
The book starts out with an 'oh, this sucks to be me moment' when Becca sees Nick while she is suffering from food poisoning in the ER, for the first time since their one night stand. Luckily, it only gets better from there! This is a fun read as a stand alone, or if like me, you are addicted to Celebration stories, you will love this one! Ps. any book that includes the University of Florida is an automatic winner!
Becca Flannigan when she slept with a man name Nick Ciotti she didn't know his name but she found herself pregnant and when she was in the hospital with food poisoning she saw Nick again and he found her out she was pregnant. and they found love with each other and she began his texas Christmas Bride.
Becca & Nick get together one night & she learns she is pregnant. She ends up in the ER & the doctor is Nick that comes in. He learns about the pregnancy. They finally get together after some rollercoaster ups & downs. This is an awesome story by Nancy Robards Thompson. I highly recommend this story. There are a lot of feels in this story.
Very good book. Nick and Becca met when he was in Celebration interviewing for a job at the hospital and she was there because her nephew had been in an accident. Becca's sister was being rather nasty to Becca and Nick helped her out with some information. They ran into each other again a short time later at a restaurant and the chemistry between them had Becca indulging in an uncharacteristic one night stand. A short time later she discovered she was pregnant and tried unsuccessfully to find Nick to tell him. A couple months later she lands in the hospital with food poisoning and is treated by Nick, who had just started working there.
That meeting is beyond awkward. Becca is not at her best, and it certainly isn't the way she had expected to tell Nick he was going to be a father. To say that Nick is stunned would be putting it mildly. As the hospital ER is not the place for discussion, they make plans for Nick to visit the next day so they can talk.
I liked Becca. She is a strong and independent woman who, once she gets over the shock, is ready to be the best mother she can be, She does have some family issues, with parents who are wealthy but not the warmest of parents, and a sister with whom she has always had a difficult relationship. She's been reluctant to reveal her pregnancy, not wanting to deal with the drama they would create. When she and Nick connect, she makes it clear that she doesn't expect anything from him, though she will welcome his involvement if he wants it.
I also liked Nick. His kindness to Becca at their first meeting showed that he does have a good heart. He is surprised to find out that she's pregnant and it really throws him. He doesn't believe that he has the ability to be a good father or husband. Due to a tragedy when he was a teenager, his family broke apart. He holds himself responsible for what had happened and as a result doesn't let anyone get close to him. He had been married before, but his workaholic tendencies, developed to protect himself, ended the marriage. He tells Becca that he will provide financially, but not to expect anything else from him.
In spite of what he said, he finds himself wanting to get to know Becca better and pursue the connection that they have thanks to her pregnancy. As they start spending time together, Becca wants Nick to see that he can become part of the Celebration community. I loved watching her introduce him to her friends and get him involved in the small town life. Nick has spent so long avoiding involvement with anyone that being around Becca is sometimes overwhelming, but he can't stay away. I really enjoyed seeing him at her friends' house for the Sunday football game and how he fit right in. I also found it pretty funny that he was jealous of the guy who was flirting with her since he had been telling himself that he wasn't going to get emotionally involved.
I loved seeing him insist on going to her doctor's appointment with her, and how he was there when they found out she was having twins. He gets very protective of her and discovers that he really likes being with her. I loved how he insisted on going with her when she told her parents, and how he stood up to them, especially her mother, when they started being obnoxious. I felt bad for him during the Thanksgiving dinner scene, when it seemed like everyone was ganging up on them. That much family, and opinionated at that, was really overwhelming for him. I liked the way that Becca was able to get him to talk about his past, and how she tried to get him to see that it wasn't his fault. I loved the way she encouraged him to mend the rift with his father. It was sweet to see how Becca's way of letting him adjust to all his new realities on his own terms helped him to see that he wanted the chance to be a family with her and the babies. His big moment at the end was sweet and romantic and perfect for the two of them.
Becca Flannigan was the good girl who never gave her parents trouble. In the ER with food poisoning, she realizes that she really wants the baby she is carrying, despite not knowing how to contact the doctor she had a one night stand with, three months ago. Nick Ciotti finally agreed to take the job as ER doc in Celebrations. He is more than a little shocked to find Becca, not only in the ER, but pregnant. Once they get over the shock, and he confirms what he already knew, he is determined to be there for Becca and his child financially, but is sure that a relationship and being a good father is beyond him. They are both shocked that she is actually carrying twins. Becca has hope that she and Nick can at least be friends, but hopes that Nick can break through his baggage enough to realize that he is perfect for his growing family. I love that Becca was strong enough to stand up for herself, with Nick and, finally, her mother. She knows what she deserves and draws her line in the sand. Nick has to come to terms with tragedy in his past, and learn to move forward to be the best man he can be. This was my first visit to Celebrations and the series, and I enjoyed it. The story worked as a stand alone, but now, after meeting some of the other characters, I want to go back and read more. This is a sweet and fun small-town read!
Another great Celebrations book! This is one of my favorite series. Becca Flannigan is the "good girl" in her family and Nick Ciotti is a tattooed, motorcycle riding doctor, who after Becca has some family drama in the ER one night, have a one night stand. Fast forward 3 months later and Becca is in the ER for food poisoning and having just finding out she is pregnant, is worried about losing the baby. Her best friend and boss Kate is there and she confides in her, but says she doesn't think she will see the father again, even though she had tried to find him, when he walks in as the attending doctor! After a few tense weeks where he wants proof the baby is his, they start spending time together, getting to know each other. Nick doesn't think he would make good husband or father material because of the way he was brought up. Becca wants the whole deal, husband, father, but she will not push him. I loved seeing these two fall in love and bond over having not one but two babies on the way! They learned from each other how to love.
Becca Flannigan shared one night in Nick Ciotti's bed. Unfortunately the protection failed and she is pregnant with his child. She searched for him 3 months. Becca ends up in the emergency room due to food poisoning and the attending physician is Nick Ciotti. Not only was he surprised that she is his patient but he soon realizes that he is going to be a father. Becca asks him to go to next obstetrics appointment where they learn she is pregnant with twins. Nick does not think he is good father material but assures Becca he will provide financial support. As he becomes more involved in her live he realizes he wants an entirely different life than what he thought but he come to terms with the past that has shaped his life
This was an outstanding romance novel. There was so much emotions I surpassed as I kept on reading. Two characters who have dis-functional families but with love and encouragement were able to fix and forgive their past. This was an emotional roller coaster from the very beginning filled with many surprises. I closely relate to Becca since my own parents are strict and at times felt like I had no say. I was in tear's when I found out about the accident in which Nick couldn't forgive himself for and haunted him for so many years. Truly an exceptional book written from the heart for all to share. You don't want to miss this holiday book.
I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this story. It sucked me in right away. When I first got the book I browsed the first chapter just to get a taste of the story, and got sucked in to the drama and was totally invested in Becca right from the start. Becca and Nick both have family issues. Nick is also dealing with guilt from his past and doesn't think he would be a good father. The two of them were great characters. I really enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner scene. Becca's family was a very entertaining sort of dysfunctional. The book was very touching and emotional. I got choked up at the ending. It was such a wonderful story.
His Texas Christmas Bride by Nancy Robards Thompson, is a Celebrations Inc book. This was my first book in the series. It stands on its own does not need rest of series to make sense. I really enjoyed the story line between Becca and Nick the main characters. She didn't let him push her into doing things she didn't want. I enjoyed the love story between the two characters and the fact that they both had obstacles to overcome in their romance. It was a great romance would recommend to anyone who likes a good romance.
This is a sweet holiday romance set in a small Texas town where it's tough to keep a secret, much less a burgeoning belly. Can two lonely souls come together to make a happy family when a one night stand becomes an accidental pregnancy? Will a sexual spark and a baby bring this couple together, or will mistakes from the past make them doubt their ability to make a happy home for the child they both desperately want? I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
"Love conquers all in this fantastic, emotional Christmas story. Thompson’s poignant page-turning dialogue is intimate and informative. Her spectacular, stupefied prospective parents who find love in spite of both their dysfunctional family issues are marvelous" (RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 stars).
Nancy Robards Thompson is a new author to me but I will definitely be reading more of her books. His Texas Christmas Bride is a book that can make you laugh out loud or shed a few tears. I loved the story of Becca, a single woman who found out she is pregnant after a one-night stand. Nick returns to Celebration for a job in the ER. He finds out Becca is pregnant and must come to terms with fatherhood and his feelings.
Loved, loved, loved this book. I loved the struggle that Nick has throughout the whole book of weather he would be a good father or not. Becca was such a strong woman for coming to the realization near the end that if he did not love her she would walk away from the relationship pregnant or not. It is a great book, a must read.
I really enjoyed this book right from the start. It is a page turner and also a good Christmas season read. There are a few twists in the story which you can't predict which way the story is going but it is nice the way it turned out. This author writes home run books and also ones that are perfect for the season!
The dude day was kind of silly to be planning a wedding and then not answering girl and telling his family that he was not engaged to hurt more. But I think overall the book was great. It was good that she was planning on waiting and it worked out great for her in the end.
I absolutely loved this story. Becca and Nick face obstacles as Nick wooes her. Nick faces the past with his father and Becca stands up to her family. This a heart warming must read story.
