This is a very interesting overview of a number of influential devotees of the Lord. Influential because of their devotion and personal practice.
I always find it uplifting and motivating to hear about other’s experiences in prayer life and this book provides that in bucketfuls.
The author has researched the biographies the individuals she mentions in the chapters of the book and reveals inspiring episodes from their lives, and direct quotes revealing their motivations and thoughts on prayer.
The author also has a deep prayer life and this is apparent her treatment of the lives of these prayer warriors and the attention to detail of the relevant points for discussion.
This is a great review of prayer and prayers that will broaden your own approach to your prayer life.
We're to "pray without ceasing," but what does that look like in our daily lives. The author has done a thorough study of eight people throughout history who discovered for themselves what it means to stay in touch with God during each day. She discovered, among other things, that we can be as close to God was we choose to be. And just to practice praying throughout each day, conscious of His presence.
