There’s something in the woods.

I’ve started sleeping with my boots on and a knife strapped to my leg. The sleep paralysis was torture, but what came next was even worse. Waking up alone and vulnerable in the woods, far from home, following the sound of distant howling like a siren call.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me. It feels like there is a beast inside of me, desperate to escape. I’m terrified to let it free, but I’m quickly discovering that I don’t have much of a choice.

Every night the dreams return. Another place, another time. A face I can’t quite remember. Every time I wake up, I’ve walked further, until I find myself in an abandoned, crumbling cabin that feels oddly familiar. The decaying kitchen, with the haunting scent of stew and mint, the voices after dark calling a name I almost recognize, and a face in the mirror that isn’t my own. Then there are the eyes I feel watching me constantly, with a weight to them I try not to acknowledge.

I don’t know what I’m searching for, only that it feels like the forest itself is summoning me, guiding my sleeping form into its depths, whispering its secrets as phantom wounds across my skin.

The dreams are getting worse.

I’m starting to think they might be more than dreams…

So.
I knew I was reading this anyway because it's Ronan. Obviously.
I did NOT know I'd end up ugly crying, with I think a bit of wailing, over monsters who aren't even the classic kind.
That should explain why no 0.25 are needed.

Whatever you think you're getting into with this story, it's going to be better.
I am genuinely amazed by this man's mind. I honestly don't think I've read anything quite like this before, because I swear I didn't even have a theory about how it was all going to work out.
Ronan has this exceptional ability to write emotions that pull on every single one of your heartstrings. And while *their* story (I'm intentionally leaving the names out) might not be a traditional love story in the conventional sense, it was still devastatingly beautiful.
Devastating. Heart-wrenching. Absolute devotion and love 💔

I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THESE MONSTERS ALWAYS HAVE THE GENTLEST SOULS POSSIBLE, BUT HERE WE ARE 😭

It's also fascinating how Ronan built a complex and layered world in so few pages, because the book isn't long. And his ability to make even the side characters feel so vivid is just another testament to the talent. The atmosphere was fantastic, and I was completely immersed in it.

AND, most importantly, this may be the rare instance where I could tolerate a comparison to a forearm!!!
😄

“It was dark red, and easily longer and thicker than my forearm”

I have no further comments ❤️‍🔥

Well, this book absolutely wrecked me. What the hell? 😭

I went into this expecting a monster romance, but I was NOT prepared for the heartbreak, the worldbuilding, the soul-deep connection, and the sheer amount of FEELINGS this story would put me through.

Jem and Khorli had me hooked from the beginning. There's something so beautiful about a love that exists despite everything telling these two they shouldn't be together. They're from different worlds, their natures are so different, and yet they find something in each other that neither of them can find anywhere else. The tenderness between them absolutely wrecked me 🥹

I absolutely loved Khorli.
This enormous, terrifying creature who can be so gentle with the person he loves? The devotion, the protectiveness, the longing, the willingness to sacrifice everything for love. I WAS NOT READY!

But...this isn't just a love story. It's also a story about grief, guilt, healing, second chances, and learning that loving someone doesn't mean you have to stop loving the person you lost. The emotional journey these characters go through is brutal at times, but it's also incredibly beautiful.

The worldbuilding was incredible! The different species, the worlds, the magic, the soul-related lore, and all the little mysteries kept me wanting to know more. And the way everything eventually comes together? Absolutely perfect.

I laughed, I cried, and I got really angry at some fictional characters. There are moments that hurt so much, but the tenderness and hope woven throughout makes all the tears worth it in the end.

This is a story about loving fiercely, grieving deeply, and finding your way back to love when you thought you'd lost it forever.

Holy shit, this book was AMAZING. I was hooked from the very first chapter. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever read anything quite like this. It was so dark, but the balance was done so perfectly. Oh my God, I loved the plot SO much. The way everything is set up pulls you in immediately, and then you’re hit with heartbreak and devastation that keep you on your toes until you finally get that perfect, sweet ending. UGH, MY HEART. 😭🖤
The emotions in this book are written so incredibly well. I genuinely felt like I was going through the same heartbreak as the characters. I literally had to take a break because I was crying so hard. The love and loss in this story are beyond anything I’ve ever read before, and it took me a good while to even put this review together because this book left me SPEECHLESS. I went into this expecting your typical monster romance, but JESUS CHRIST, I have never been so wrong in my life. This story is so unique, so beautifully heartbreaking, and honestly just a masterpiece. I have never finished an almost 300-page book in one sitting before, but this one had me in such a chokehold that I did. I got maybe three hours of sleep because I physically could not put it down.
UGH, THE ENDING. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS BOOK. Someone PLEASE erase my memory so I can experience this for the first time all over again. I’m BEGGING YOU. 😭🖤

OMG, this book was absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful! I went in not expecting to be sobbing, but this story completely broke my heart and somehow put all the pieces back together again.

Jem and Khorli's love story was everything and it had me hooked from the beginning. Khorli, this enormous, terrifying creature who is so incredibly gentle with the person he loves? The devotion, protectiveness, longing, and willingness to sacrifice everything had me in my feelings. I WAS NOT READY!

Jo was such a fantastic character, too. I loved how he could see beyond appearances and trust his instincts, knowing Khorli was the one he was meant to be with. His connection with Khorli was beautiful. There is something so special about a love that exists despite everything telling these two they shouldn't be together.

The worldbuilding was incredible, with the magic, different species, soul lore, and the meaning behind the flowers. I loved how the two timelines came together and how everything was revealed. And the tenderness between these characters absolutely wrecked me.

This isn't just a love story. It's about grief, guilt, healing, second chances, and learning that loving someone new doesn't mean forgetting the person you lost.

I laughed, cried, got angry at fictional characters, and finished with the biggest smile on my face. What an incredible, emotional journey. I absolutely loved this and cannot recommend it enough!

This book puts you through the ringer! It starts out sweet and then completely DEVASTATES you. And then you get to sit in your pain for a while until you get a slight little sliver of hope. And it'll hurt again don't worry, but also Ronan weaves in some super sweet and cute moments that I just adored them so so much.

Holy freaking amazeballs. I can't even..what huh. Blown away. Can I just stop there?

As an avid lover of horror especially folkloric horror this just hit all my spots and scratched all my itches, except it's not really horror. Solivagant is just a beautiful folklorian fairytale. One that reminds me so something passed down from generation to generation, as fable to warn children not to go into the woods alone, or a well-crafted parable to explain fate and grief.

I cannot express, with my feeble writing abilities, how truly exquisite and captivating this installment from the mayhem manuscripts is. I was completely enthralled in Ronan's words and writing style. Hooked immediately and completely. Like an addict chasing a high, I couldn't put the book down. Not surprisingly, I found myself full body crying. Snot tears ugly gasps the whole nine. Any book that elicits such a visceral reaction from me automatically gets 5 stars. I wish I could give this novel more.

I wish i could find the words to explain everything I'm feeling about solivagant, It's something that must be read and experienced. If you are a fan of rich and romantic folklore you must stop what you're doing immediately and read this. I am painfully failing at elucidating the utter perfection that is Ronan's work. Just read it. Seriously. I am going to stop rambling like a fool now and stare at the wall dissociating for a bit.

This story was just beautiful.

I have been sitting here trying to figure out how to write a spoiler-free review and cope with the emotional damage. We start in the middle of a love story and are led on a journey of heartbreak and grief, to finally reach a hard-won HEA. There were a lot (I mean a lot) of tears.

Everything about the story is so well done. It is told in two parts, and each is its own beautiful journey (also, I cried during both sections). The decision to tell certain chapters from side characters’ perspectives provided such strong world-building and created a perfect bridge between the sections.

Khorli (the monster) was such an incredible character, and it was incredible to see how love and loss transformed him. The love story is intense, beautiful, and so well written.

I have so much more to say, but I promise it’s better to go into this (after checking the trigger warnings) with minimal information and just go on the journey. I can’t wait to see more from this world!

I went into this book blind because that is my preference however, I was so surprised at what I read. This story took me on a journey through about every emotion there was. It was so sad and so beautiful and when you think of eternal love and devotion, you should think of Khorli and Jem/Jo. I don’t often cry when I read, but this book made me shed a few tears. Truly an excellent story that was unique, had well developed characters and interesting world building. Also Khorli’s species is quite beautiful, especially him, and making him cat like was a huge bonus for me because I thought it was very cute. And speaking of cute animals there is a little pig friend that joins them and even ends up traveling with them. I could say a lot more about what happens in the book but I feel like it would spoil things so I’m gonna leave it vague but just know it is absolutely worth reading and I cannot recommend this enough. Definitely read the trigger warnings because it gets intense sometimes but the happy parts definitely match the intensity of the dark parts so it balances out. Overall, another excellent addition to this series and probably one of my favorites so far.

Solivagant is part of the “Mayhem Manuscripts, Season 2: Cryptids” series.

This book made me cry—both from sadness and joy. I’ve read the author’s other books; the writing and world-building in this one are impressive. The magic, the different worlds, the meaning of the flowers....

It’s set in two different time periods—one in the past and one in the present—but it’s not confusing because everything is told so well.

Jem and Khorli are incredible; their love story is powerful and heartbreaking. Jo is a fantastic character who sees beyond appearances and knows how to trust his instincts when they tell him that Khorli is the one he’s meant to be with.

A wonderful book.

This was heartbreaking and I loved it! I think I spent half of this book either crying or teary eyed and I don't regret a minute of it. I love an emotional story and Josiah and Khorli gave me just what I needed. This resonated with me and touched me deeply. Khorli and Josiah's story is heartbreaking and not exactly linear, but it's a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat and struggling to put the book(or kindle) down. It was beautiful to see them be themselves and happy together.

I loved this a lot and I would recommend it to anyone who loves monster romances and likes to get their heart broken and put back together.

Omg this was absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful what an amazing story!! I don’t even have words to describe how much I loved this! Absolutely broke my heart in to a million pieces while also putting all those million of pieces back together by the end. Was I expecting to be sobbing multiple times through out this book no no I was not not one bit I went from crying to giggling and smiling because while it was heartbreaking the ending was beautiful and you just couldn’t help but just have a smile on your face! The way Josiah just had this feeling that he was always missing something and could never find it just walking through life with this missing piece and god khorli absolutely the best ever the dedication and the love my heart hurt sooo hard for him just a shell of himself for over 200 YEARs! 10/10 absolutely recommend I NEED EVERYONE TO READ THIS BOOK! I can’t wait to see what else Ronan creates for us!!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ 6 STARS. RONAN, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?! 😭

Honestly, I just LOVE crying my heart out on a weekend, and apparently Ronan Marlow has decided to make that a recurring activity in my life.

Because HOW?! How does every single book give me something completely unique while making me fall absolutely in love with the characters and then proceeding to absolutely DESTROY ME?!

WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS IS A MONSTER ROMANCE WITH KINDA REINCARNATION, DEATH, GRIEF, SECOND CHANCES, ABSOLUTE DEVOTION, PRIMAL PRIMAL PLAY, SOFT SQUISHY BELLIES, AND THE CUTEST LITTLE MOMENTS IMAGINABLE?!

And because apparently that wasn’t enough, we also have some murderous tendencies, small town crazies, an actual monster to fall in love with, AND A D*CK THE SIZE OF A FREAKING LEG?!

LIKE WHAT EVEN IS THIS BOOK?! 😭

So here’s the thing. Khorli is a monster who falls in love with Jem, a human, in a world where their love was never supposed to exist. And when tragedy strikes, Khorli spends CENTURIES unable to let go of the person he lost. CENTURIES. CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT KIND OF DEVOTION?!

Then we have Jo, who has absolutely no idea why he’s having terrifying dreams, waking up in the woods, or feeling like there’s something inside him desperately trying to get out. And somehow, all those mysteries lead him straight to Khorli.

I’m not giving away more because you NEED to experience how this story unfolds.

But OH MY GOD, KHORLI.

This enormous, terrifying creature who is capable of such violence but also is so unbelievably gentle for the person he loves?! The longing, the protectiveness, the little ways he shows affection without even needing words. AND THOSE CUTE LITTLE TUSKS?! I WAS MELTING.

And Jo?! Imagine having your entire existence turned upside down, trying to understand what’s happening to you, and somehow finding yourself connected to a creature who should absolutely terrify you. Their relationship was such a beautiful mix of confusion, instinct, tenderness, and an almost impossible kind of love.

What really got me was that I genuinely had NO IDEA how Ronan was going to make this work. There were so many things standing between these two and their happiness that an HEA felt almost impossible. I was sitting there trying to figure out how we could possibly get out of this without someone suffering even more.

I CANNOT. THE NONVERBAL MOMENTS. THE LITTLE GESTURES. THE ABSOLUTE CUTENESS OF IT ALL. AND DID I MENTION YEARNING?

How did we go from THAT MUCH PAIN to me sitting here giggling over a monster being adorable?!

And the worldbuilding?! The lore, the different creatures, the mysteries, the way everything connects. Ronan somehow manages to make something completely wild and fantastical feel so emotionally real.

ALSO, I am not giving ANYTHING away, but I NEED BOOK TWO ABSOLUTELY IMMEDIATELY.
Because you guys know I am DOWN BAD FOR A BROKEN VILLAIN.

This book was spectacular, magical, devastating, weird in the BEST possible way, and so full of love that I don’t even know how to properly explain what I just experienced. Don’t even get me started on the epilogue. MY HEART.

RONAN, YOU ABSOLUTE MENACE. SIX STARS. ✨ A MEGA READ IT READ IT READ IT.

The pain! Oh the pain! An utterly devastating, heart breaking, and beautifully tender masterpiece that will rip your heart out and hand it back to you healed! Ronan Marlow delivers a breathtaking, emotional dark monster romance that takes you on an absolute roller coaster. Blending ancient grief, soulmate-level reincarnation lore, and swoon-worthy heat, Solivagant is a gut-wrenching, magical ride that leaves you sobbing tears of sorrow one minute and giggling over an adorable, massive monster the next.

The narrative weaves together the tragic, centuries-old history of Khorli, a massive, terrifying monster who fell in love with a human named Jeremiah (Jem) in a world that forbade their bond, and present-day Josiah (Jo). After Jem met a horrific end, a grieving Khorli spent over two hundred years fiercely guarding his lost lover's body, unable to let go. Fast forward to the present: Jo is haunted by terrifying sleep paralysis, waking up deep in the woods with phantom memories, a feeling of a beast clawing inside his skin, and an inexplicable pull toward a decaying cabin. When Jo’s sleepwalking leads him straight to Khorli, the ancient creature feels an immediate soul connection, primal instinct, Khorli holds Jo captive to protect him, triggering a high-stakes, painful, and deeply emotional journey as two souls navigate centuries of trauma, physical agony, and an impossible second chance at love. Khorli is the absolute definition of an ancient, terrifying protector! This giant, lethal creature spent hundreds of years mourning his human, yet when he is with Jo, he becomes the gentlest, sweetest softie. His nonverbal affection and fierce protectiveness will make you melt into a puddle. The physical intimacy is wild, inventive, and incredibly hot, featuring primal play, tail play, impressive non-human anatomy, and sweet, squishy-belly moments that perfectly balance high heat with profound emotional vulnerability.

The worldbuilding and soul mechanics are brilliant and deeply emotional! The agony Jo experiences as his body struggles to hold memories of a past life creates immense suspense, making their path to a happy-ever-after feel genuinely earned and hard-fought. Beyond the main romance, Marlow constructs a fascinating fantasy world filled with mysterious species, small-town hostility, and nuanced side characters that set up an incredible, high-anticipation world for future books. Ronan Marlow needs to send me to therapy for putting my emotions through a literal meat grinder with this one! The grief, guilt, and physical toll on Jo were so heavy. Be prepared to keep a box of tissues nearby because the angst throughout will hurt your heart. But watching all those broken pieces come together through quiet gestures, nonverbal understanding, and pure tenderness made every single tear 100% worth it.

An absolute gut-wrenching experience that took all my tears in the best way possible! Ronan Marlow crafted a story so rich in lore, profound yearning, raw longing, and devastating beauty. Seeing an ancient, terrifying creature be so soft for his mate gave me pure serotonin after all the heartbreak. If you crave deep angst, monstrous devotion, and a love story that defies time itself, grab this immediately, just make sure your heart is ready for the ride!

Who else has been eager to discover what lies between the pages of this book? I know it couldn't be just me who was excited to delve into the pages that Ronan crafted, and delved in is exactly what I did.

Solivagant is a standalone MM, Monster Romance, that's a part of a multi author collab series, called Mayhem Manuscripts: Season Two.

That being said, the hype I have had for this whole series has been extremely, and when Ronan started sharing bits and pieces of these characters that excitement grew even more for me. When I first started this book, I was transported into a world full of creatures with horns, souls that turn into flowers, rituals to summon bridges to another world unlike the one Jem was familiar with, and a love between two people that defied the odds. You know that saying, "when one door closes, another one opens?", well, in this case when Jem's door closed, another one opened, as Jo.

Now, if you're reading that you may be confused.. Why are there two different names if they are the same person? Well, once you read the story yourself you'll understand, but essentially they are both inhabiting a body. Two souls who share memories and thoughts, who share a body. When you read this, I promise it'll all make sense. But let me just say that Ronan did a MASTERFUL job at honoring who Jem was while also making it known that while Jo may have Jem's memories, Jo is his own person, with his own personality. I liked that they stood apart in that way while both sharing a common interest, their love, "Tusks."

I'll be honest, it took me a bit to fully get into the way this was written, mainly because there were quite a few different POV's in the beginning. However, as I kept reading I began to appreciate those chapters because it gave us a deeper insight into what was going on. Plus, I have a sneaking suspicion that those scenes helped set up a potential spin off series? 👀 That's my suspicion, anyways.

I really enjoyed this book! I also really liked how Jo and Khorli didn't get together right away, Jo fought for quite some time before admitting, and accepting that him and his "Tusks" belong together. I appreciated how they didn't have an immediate relationship with each other, I liked how Ronan let the tension and angst build between them until it bubbled over.

This book is well worth a read, but beware, it'll leave you with questions about certain side characters! I, for one, am very curious about them and am looking forward to readingtheir stories in the future.

This book had me sucking back eye juice mid gym sessions. I couldn't put it down, I needed to know what was going to happen next, and I almost paid the price by being emotional in a public place in front of people. That never happens, so be warned, tears are a possibility.

What I love about this 'series' is that each book is so uniquely different. From the Cryptid MMC/s to the side characters, the settings, everything - each author has taken their story in such different directions that whenever you sit down and start one you never know what you're going to get.

This book had me running the absolute gauntlet of emotions. Split into three parts, each part brought about a different feeling - from lovely and fluffy to eviscerated in part one to anger and then grudging understanding in part two (with a creeped-out undertone) to happiness followed by sadness and then happiness again in part three. Each part was very gripping and at under 300 pages Ronan has done an amazing job of keeping things moving while at the same time giving us enough emotions, interactions etc to flesh out what was a fairly unique sort of romance.

Khorli was such an amazing MMC. (He's the horned fellow on the front cover) Loyal to a fault, he knew what he wanted and refused to change his mind. For literal centuries. Our other MMC is a little more complicated and without giving too much away, I will say that he ended up being exactly what Khorli needed. They completed each other in ways that time couldn't come in between, and their HEA was certainly Hard Earned.

There is one side character who I ended up having complicated feelings about, and who I feel will be getting a book next. I have no doubt that if anyone can change my mind about this character, it'll be Ronan, but for now the jury's out. I would also happily read a book about the human female bestie with no soul because I am dying to know what her deal is as well.

You do not need to have read any of the other Mayhem books before reading this one. They are complete standalones and can be enjoyed depending on your preference of Cryptid/tropes.

I knew before I even opened this book that it was going to be a good book. What I wasn't expecting was it to tear me to pieces and try to put me back together again. I grieved these characters like their pain was real, like I could feel it in my own soul. Khorli is the sweetest to his beloved, the fiercest protector and the most adorable monster. The character development and interwoven relationships of this story is so phenomenally done. I don't think I will ever be the same again after reading this. This is a heartbreakingly beautiful story of loss, of darkness and of finding love and stepping into the light. Ronan is an evil genius and I can't wait to have my heart broken by more of his coming books.

I started this book confused and on the cusp if DNF'ing. I'm here for the cryptids, not...... whatever this beginning was. Monster fantasy medieval peasant world? Whatever you call it, it wasn't what I signed up for, so every few pages I kept thinking I'd just quit and try another book, and then 😳😱💔😭

NOT OK.

Which made me want to quit the book even more. Especially when it suddenly !!!

I don't care. I don't like him. I don't forgive him and I CERTAINLY don't want to hear from him.

(I'm absolutely picking up his book if/when the author writes it 😂)

By the time it was Jo's turn, I admitted to myself I was invested, and just when I started to get irritated that I'd accidentally been tricked into reading a - which I'm admittedly a bit 🙄🙄🙄 about - the author turned it into something entirely different-but-related, and made me fall in love with the whole journey I'd been having such a tantrum about being dragged into, in no small part because of giving them a "you complete me" devotion that actually felt earned instead of just magically fated. 🥰

So: definitely not the story I came for, but unexpectedly and to my total delight, still the story I didn't know I needed. All the (soul) stars!

What a story! It was painfully beautiful and love prevailed.
I’m not one who reads a lot of reincarnation stories but I loved this. I mostly loved how uncomplicated it was. Jo never struggled with the fact that Khorli loved Jem and Khorli never questioned if Jo loved him. It was just felt between them that one love didn’t negate the new one.
It was easy for them to feel and understand that they could coexist with Jem’s echo between them while also enjoying the chance the world gave them or to be precise Khorli’s grandmother did.
I loved that we honored Jem’s memory in a way and they went to see the sky that was a color no one had seen before. 🥹

Tash is an interesting character. I’m curious to know why she is the way she is.
The one that started the war… I wonder what happened to him and how much he is suffering. I actually can’t wait to read his story eventually.

This was my first book by this author and I will definitely read more.

P.s a quote that spoke to me.

“Grief lived inside me, as strongly as it had these last centuries. I suspected it would always be there to some extent. Because what was grief if not love with no place left to go?“

* I read an arc of this book. *

Wow. I have no clue what I just read, but I am obsessed. Khorli is great. He's so devoted to his love. He's protective and kind of playful and kind of sweet for a human-eating monster. I really love the side characters, too. I am so curious about Thalin, especially.

Overall, this story was so unique. Like, I've never read anything like it at all. And the ending? I loved it so much. I was sobbing at one point and it was in such a great way. Honestly, once again, Ronan Marlow has blown me away.

TLDR: read this book! Even if it's not your usual style (it's not really mine) or you are unsure... you will regret not reading it, I promise.

Oh my god, what a story!! I was expecting a monster romance and instead found a story that breaks your heart only to mend it 😭

The story of Jem and Khorli is beautiful but also very painful. Khorli, despite being an imposing and terrifying creature, is incredibly tender, patient, and devoted to those he loves. His capacity for love completely won me over.

I loved this author's writing style, along with the mythology, magic, and flower symbolism. While I don't usually like the timeline concept (mainly because I always feel like I'm missing things 😵‍💫), in this case, it fits together perfectly and helps build a story full of mystery and emotion.

But what I loved most was how it addresses grief, loss, and second chances, showing that loving again doesn't mean forgetting the one you lost. I cried, I got angry, and I also smiled like a fool. And that ending… 🥹 A story that hurts so much, but that's worth every tear. I wasn't prepared for this and I can't recommend it enough.

Many thanks to the author for allowing me to read the story in advance, even though my opinions are my own and mine alone.

"Tiscar Bul Thanor, my Khorli." "Tiscar Bul Thanor, my Jo."

I’m dying. I absolutely, 100000% LOVED this book! Part 1 will destroy you and you will have all the feels. Part 2 you feel like you gaslight yourself (IN A GOOD WAY!) and Part 3 is just beautiful and adorable and perfection. Let’s start with Jo, confused and grumpy Jo. I loved him because he was trying to so hard to figure out what was going on internally (it’s hard to say much without spoiling so I know this is vague) and how to navigate through his feelings towards Khorli. And Khorli!? My sweet baby. The trauma, the grief, the LONGING, hurt so good to read. And can we please just talk about the hiding during walks and thinking he was hidden from Jo? This might have been the cutest thing I have ever read! And the PIGLET PLAYING WITH HIS TAIL!? 😭😭 Guys I honestly could just keep yapping about this book and it still would be enough to describe how much I loved it! Please just read it. Ronan never misses!

Rating- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (I would give 6 if I could)
Storyline- 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Spice- 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

Solivagant was such a beautiful, emotional, original story. I loved Khlori’s character he was patient, loving, and so devoted. This was such an emotional read that really left you wondering what was going to happen next.

The love between the two main characters was the type of love that you feel in your soul. This was such a beautifully written story that I just couldn’t put down. I was not prepared for the emotional devastation I experienced while reading this but I was also so invested.

I loved how Khlori wasn’t a gentle being by any means but he was patient kind protective and soft for the man he loves. Solivagant is packed with devotion, love, grief, and such a unique monster romance that you can feel so deeply. This is about love that happens against all odds, one they fight for and I loved seeing these two get their happy ending. The spice in this was also very good. I am so impressed with this book, Ronan Marlow is a fantastic writer and I’m so thankful I was able to read this 💖.

Solivagant is part of the multi author Mayhem Manuscripts Season Two: Cryptids series. Each book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the whole series. This is story is told in two parts in the past we have Jem a human and Khorli a monster, in the present we have Jo and Khorli. This was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, I cried, I laughed, and at times I got angry. I was pulled into the story from the start and couldn't put it down until I finished it. I loved the characters and world building that went into this book. I don't do spoilers so all I can really say is you won't regret reading this book. Ronan Marlow is a master at story telling and has an amazing imagination. I can't wait to see what Ronan Marlow writes next because I know I will be reading it. I also can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.

I'm not entirely sure why I went into this expecting it to be less impactful than previous books I had read by Ronan. I didn't expect the same level of emotion in fantasy as with entirely human characters and I was wrong.

This story is one of love, loss, grief and second chances. We start with the beautiful relationship between Jem and Khorli and, despite the contents warning, I don't think I had fully prepared myself for the on page death of an MC, nor the visceral reaction of the other to his loss. Tears by 22% gives an indicator of the level of emotion in this one.

When Josiah meets Khorli he feels the connection straight away, he just doesn't understand it. Watching both MCs form a bond both because of who they were and who they are now was wonderful. There was no rushing to push them together, everything was the pull of their souls.

My heart broke again when Khorli had to say a final goodbye to Jem in order to save and keep Josiah. The chapters that follow when you wonder if it was all in vain are equally harrowing. This book may be marketed as horror or fantasy but it is absolutely a story of love, romance and one of the hardest fought HEAs you will read.

Solivagant is book eleven of the Mayhem Manuscripts Season Two: Cryptids Series.

You can feel the love and devotion Khoril has for his love. The sacrifices and the pain he is willing to endure to ensure they can be together forever was truly remarkable to read. You can feel the deep pain of his grieving and how he holds the utter devotion for the one who claimed his heart. When he is given a second chance at getting his HEA, he takes it with both hands and doesn't let anything stop him from claiming his love.

Hands down this is Ronans best work yet. I am not typically one to cry at books and this book made me cry. I told my husband about it and cried again. The emotion lingered. I loved everything about this book. Jem was so sweet and perfect and ultimately selfless. Jo was strong and ended up being perfect for Khorli. This book had so many things that I loved. And side characters that I can't wait to learn more about. This was phenomenal.
