The Billionaire Game #1

The Billionaire Game 1

Rate this book
Sexy playboy billionaire Asher Young goes through girlfriends like he goes through bottles of Moët. I would know — he brings them all to get fitted for my luxury lingerie designs. I guess that's one way to avoid awkward conversations when they find another girl’s panties in his Maserati.

Now he has a proposition for me: he’ll invest in my design business, and I’ll finally open the boutique of my dreams.

There’s just one problem: I can’t stop kissing him. And he looks REALLY good naked.

Make that two problems….

Witty, Hilarious and Sexy. Lila is back and doing it again.

I love the witty banter and fantastic inner monologue that this author provides.

Kate has been dished one bad situation after another, but that doesn't mean that she will lose her dreams or witty demeanor.

Asher Young is a flirty, self made Billionaire who has just enough nerdy qualities to make him sexy and adorable. And who could turn away from that smirk? I love a smirk. Mmm.

Will Asher help Katie launch her Lingerie business and realize her dreams? Can they work together with the sexual chemistry between them? I can't wait to see in Part 2.

First off I'm giving a HUGE thanks to Lila Monroe and Give Me Books for allowing me a copy of The Billionaire Game to read in exchange for an honest review. I am a huge fan of Lila's and this book did not disappoint in any way! Even though it's only part 1, I'm hooked. I laughed (a few times a little too hard and loud) but that's what makes me love it. There is a simple beauty to the way the characters just jump out at you. If you look right they can be people that you know! (hand hearts)

***small spoiler alert***

Honestly, I love Katie, have since we first met her in The Billionaire Bargain. She's the all American girl. Hot tempered, a heart the size of the California and a knowledge of what she wants and loves. Her dream to be a high class boutique owner and lingerie designer are commendable. That's her special gift, or talent whatever you would like to call it. Her clients love her designs and the way they see themselves in her creations. When one of her clients, a supermodel (of course) comes over for a final fitting she brings her boyfriend, arm candy, boy toy, whatever he needs to be called with her. That's when She meets Asher for the first time. Uh, first impressions go a long way. But the man knows how to be smooth. Or he thinks so anyhow, but Kate has his number. (Snorts) men are clueless most times.

When Kate sees him again at a party with yet another bimbo on his arm she blows him off. But karma is a sneaky twat. After she is let go from her job Kate has dinner with her family. (Her family would make me poke my eyes out, just saying.) They boost her brother up, like he's a God or something and take as many chances as they can to make sure Kate feels about the size of a ant. Then walks in Asher Young. Kate's brother spots him and then the race is on. Kate decides to get her family off of her ass. Thing is... you should be careful what you say and when. Asher walks up as she's bragging about him loving her designs and giving her start up money. (This has to be one of the best moments of part 1! I laughed so hard! Loved it!)

Asher Young seems like such a cocky ass. Then he redeems himself by helping Kate out. But he was serious about his offer. He does want to help her. He believes in her. Shocked they agree to have an official meeting and discuss her work. Well we all know things don't go as planned right? Ha! Kate's initial thoughts of Asher come back to life as their meeting goes from good to 'just kill me now' in a little bit of time. Emotions run high and Kate's left pissed off and Asher is just confused. But just when you think he's gonna move on he decides to show her that he did take her thoughts and hopes for her line seriously.

And yes I aww'd. (Huffs) I'm sorry but I wanted to not like Asher... (Laughs) but honestly I do. And I want to smack Kate for being a bitch to him at times. Talk about the odd couple but I'm sure they will work it out in one way or another. I have faith!! And now I want the second part... (Twiddled my thumbs until I can get it)

Part one of The Billionaire Game was entertaining, laugh out loud hilarious and super sexy.

"Adding insult to injury, my body apparently didn't care that this guy was a jerk....it was too busy noticing how his shoulders rippled when he struggled, and sending memos to all the blood in my body to hop the fast lane to my pussy."

I mean, how could anyone not love this? My only complaint is that I have to wait a whole week for the next installment! How ever will I survive? ~ Kelly, 4.5 stars

A new serial from the lady that gave me sexy Aussie Grant Devlin?! Sign me up!!

Kate knows the kind of man Asher Young is -- she's seen him bring his women in for her custom lingerie enough to get a sense of who he is.

But when he offers to make her dream of running her own business for her designs a reality, she'd be silly not to hear him out. Now...if only she can stop thinking about him.

As the start of a new serial, The Billionaire Game gave good framework for the story to come. But I have to be honest in saying I wasn't blown away by it; it meandered a touch too much for my taste, and upon reaching the end, I was little blasé about it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the story, and I'm definitely interested in what's to come. How could I not be, with a sexy billionaire like Asher on offer? But I didn't feel the tension or the connection with these characters; I didn't feel like I learned enough about Kate and Asher in this book to connect with them. There was simply too much flash and sass (although said flash and sass was done very well) and not enough motivation.

I wish this one could have been a little longer, or better yet, full length, so they could be fleshed out more. I am, however, intrigued enough by this one to come back for more and see where Ms. Monroe takes it. And to find out if we get the why of these two people. ~ Beth, 3.5 stars

If you’re looking for your next billionaire fix, Lila Monroe is your dealer. She crafts an Adonis who smirks, banters and flirts his way straight to your….clit. Wait, did you think I’d say heart? Not yet ladies, Ms. Monroe is just getting us warmed up here ;) and yes, it’s warm in here…

If you’ve read Lila’s Billionaire Bargain series (btw, if not – you should) then you’ve already met Kate. She’s funny, silly, quirky, smart and just as headstrong as our beloved Lacey. Kate’s desperately trying to get her lingerie business off the ground floor – but to do that, she needs capital. Kate sort of does a ‘hi foot, meet mouth’ moment, but it results in a meeting with Asher Young. THE Asher Young: the one who brings his harem to Kate for their lingerie designs, but is also a super billionaire, the owner of a flashing smile that makes her want to remove all of her clothes immediately, and who Kate KNOWS is bad news.

But there’s just something about Asher that Kate can’t stay away from. And apparently Asher has a problem too. His permanent single status…is it a myth? or is he actually single? I DON’T KNOW. I do know that Asher is hot as hell, cocky as fuck, and hits every button I have. *winks*

This would have received five stars from me but for a continuity issue that I couldn’t let go of. I won’t ruin the story at all, but how does she get back from the island, Lila?! I was like, uhhh, WHAT? Then I started creating dramatic escapes in my head that included stealing a helicopter or hitchhiking by boat.

Regardless, I can’t wait to see how Kate and Asher work together. GIVE ME MORE, PLEASE.

The Billionaire Game by Lila Monroe is the first in her new serial also titled The Billionaire Game. It is about Kate and Asher. Kate is the best friend of Lacey, whom we met in The Billionaire Bargain when she and Grant had their moment in the spotlight. Asher is a close college friend of Grants.

Kate is the underwear designer who has to hold a receptionist job at Devlin Corp to pay the bills. By Underwear designer I mean that she designs and creates masterpieces of custom-fit luxury lingerie. When Asher shows up with not one but two different girlfriends as they come for fittings at Kate's appartment an uneasy bond begins to form. Asher is a billionaire biz-wiz and has some great ideas about investing in Kate's talent and making a fortune, too bad Kate has other ideas.

With witty dialogue AND HILARIOUS inner-monologue I absolutely adored this story and cannot wait to see where Asher and Kate's nerdy quirks take them next. The next book in the series should be release on or around May 11, 2015: The Billionaire Game 2

The only thing left: LOL, LOL, LOL. And not because I liked it. Someone should tell this author sometimes less is more. This witty was OTT. I am not a quitter (unfortunately) and I'll read the other 2, but I really expect some "growing up " and maturity for this h. She was very unprofessional. When in this world you're trying to get someone to invest in your business and just because this investor has a different idea from yours - because it's his money, you know??? - you just throw your drink in his face? How can anyone trust a person like that in becoming a serious business woman? She can't control herself, she's ironic and sarcastic and can't hold a conversation without "funny comebacks. I don't think so, Lila Monroe. I hope in the 2nd book the heroine finds her brain. Except she won't. I already read reviews.
Also, I really would like authors would specify in the blurb as a note in te end, that even if we find this book in the romance/erotica category, we WON'T find anything remotely hot or romantic in the book. Feeling cheated. And super annoyed. After I finish the 3 books I will forget this author's name. Misleading is an understatement

This is a romance series about mid 20 to early 30 year olds but the dialogue reads as if they were 16 years old. The writing style is strange in that it switches from first to third person, and one or more of the lead characters often talk to themselves in their heads.

There is no story to speak of and the sexual chemistry is missing between the male and female leads. I can't recommend this series.

I enjoyed The Billionaire Game by Lila Monroe. I recommend this book.
I like Katie's smart alleck remarks and attitude towards Asher. I think its great she keeps him on his toes and doesn't let him get away with anything, along with fighting against herself not to give in to Asher. I think her friend Lacey is a good for her.
Can't wait to read what happens next.

I wasn't a "Billionaire Bargain" fan by a long shot! So, I was surprised when I found myself really enjoying "Billionaire Game." It moved fast and was written well. Plot was simple and lighthearted... Girl trying to reach for her dreams and a sexy rich playboy that's a) trying to help her business b) trying to help himself to her -or- c) all of the above?!?!

Kate was funny, witty, ballsy, and a little nutso. I mean the demo of the difference between mass production garments and her custom made ones was as ballsy as it was nuts, right? She's strong-willed and takes pride in her business vision, but is still a little vulnerable when it comes to her talent.

I loved her musings...

" Everybody loves penguins! But right now those smug little mates-for-life fuckers in tuxedos can go fuck themselves. "

Since the book is Kate's POV, it's hard to get anything but a superficial (he's sexy and likes his women) feel for Asher. The scrawny nerd story and him saving Kate from her shitty family dinner showed a different, deeper side of him, but I really think the book needed at least a few chapters from his POV for readers to connect with him as a character since his 'page time' is fairly limited in the book.

I'll certainly be continuing with part two to see if she kisses him, kills him, or both;)

Update after reading part three... I feel it's only fair to warn readers that the series takes a turn into shitsville with book three. Kate is deceived and book three is 85% about her avoiding his explanation while pondering "why???" And, when an explanation finally comes, it's not so much an explanation as much as a confession of doing the same shit again but all for a PC 'good' cause. HEA with no redemption. Yeah, wish if have skipped the series:(

Right, I'm a lover of Lila Monroe and her writing style. I'm a proud advocate of the chatty prose and throw some wit in with it for good measure. The Billionaire Game came a weeny bit close to OTT in some places though. It's when I'm reading along and my thoughts are travelling to speaking to the author and say uhmmmm less is more in some cases. I felt I wanted to strip some sentences to keep the same oompf but be shorter and pack a bit more wallop.

I'm not 100% behind Katie yet, the scene with her parents and her brother at lunch, oooh I was a bit annoyed at that scene, also the constant quips from her leads me to want to skip some of her procrastinations. I do like her but I want to love her, at the moment she's coming across an airhead with a brain, but can't seem to find it, so I hope she does and I'm hoping we gel more in book 2.

Asher, ah now Asher, he is definitely engageable with, swoon worthy, beautiful, monied and loves himself. But anyone can write a Billionaire but I didn't feel Asher's 'worth' as a billionaire. I hope that comes along more in book 2 as well.

Certainly this has enough enjoyment and big smile moments to keep a reader invested, but if you're not a lover of the chatty prose style and quip after quip then this may well not suit your reading material.

I am very interested to see what happens next, this doesn't really end on a cliffie, more a nudge to see what's going to come next between them.

The synopsis sounds fun and hot but this first book didn’t really meet those expectations. We have Asher who is definitely this strange and somewhat irritating mix of playboy with hidden nerd boy underneath. Our heroine Kate, like Asher, she has a mix of personality traits; hardworking, self-doubting, sometimes a bit flighty. After getting abruptly fired from her friend’s company, without said friend’s knowledge, she finds herself ready to make the leap and start a lingerie company. With initial investments being her biggest problem, she finds herself in a predicament where suddenly Asher is offering up both his wallet and expertise.

I wanted to like this one but I found it to be just okay. It’s a quick read but it does feel like you don’t know where the plot is going but wherever that is it’s not what is written in the summary. There is not much sexual tension between the two main characters; they mostly bicker with a seeming predication of a love/hate relationship. I would love to have more details on Kate. I don’t know her general age or much background, it’s possible this was alluded to in The Billionaire Bargain trilogy which I haven’t read. I do have somewhat an issue where the dialogue does not seem to coalesce with the knowledge that these people run in wealthy circles. Sadly I didn’t find a connection to this first book but knowing this is the first in a trilogy I am trying to keep an open mind to what could come.

Good start to a new serial series for me. I am new to this author but I do look forward to more !!

Asher seems to be the type of book guy I love and Kate is independent and strong willed so I know I am going to like her !! Knowing that Lacey and Grant have their own story makes me want to go read that as well since they seem like fun !! We just get into the good stuff and BOOM it ends !! I love this and hate it , the wait isn't long but I just have to know what they do.... Plus I need to know if they can resist each other or if they are going to go crazy like I hope. I also want Kate to succeed so she can throw it in her families face. OMG I hated that scene with her parents and brother , I wanted to smack their heads together. Talk about lack of support. Of course Asher has already had his share of jack off moments you know he will somehow redeem himself if he hasn't already by the end of this part.

Kate is working a boring receptionist job and on the side she designs luxury lingerie and does it well. Her clients come word of mouth and come back for more. Asher brings most of those clients to her since he seems to have a different girlfriend every day LOL. When Kate loses her job and decides to pursue her love of lingerie as a full time job she needs to find a way to get financial support. With no luck in the bank loan dept. and her refusal to accept her besties money Asher may be the only choice. But his outlook is no where near what Kate wants , will she find a way without him or will he come to his senses and give kate what she wants ??

I really enjoyed The Billionaire Bargain with Grant and Lacey so when this one came across my email to read and review, I jumped on it. This is the first installment about Kate and Asher. Kate is Lacey's BFF and was introduced in The Billionaire Bargain. She works as a receptionist with Lacey at Devlin Media Group and has a lingerie business on the side. When things happen and push her to really dive into making her lingerie business her full time career, she is in need of an investor and who better than one of her best clients, Asher. He brings all his "girlfriends" to her to get lingerie and even though Kate thinks he is a playboy for sure she can't help but be attracted to him. He is described to be just as handsome as Grant and I can't wait to find out what happens in the next installment of Asher and Kate. I have a feeling some sparks are definitely going to fly. This laid the ground work for what is to come in the next two and I look forward to reading them. A easy 4 AMAZEBALLS stars for me.

So now we have a story about Kate, Lacey's friend from the other Billionaire series who designs custom lingerie.

The good thing about this book is Kate -- she's smart, funny and talented. The bad thing for me was her witty lines were almost too much, too overwritten... she's hard to keep up with. But it's clear that she uses it as her first line of defense, since she's got insecurities stemming from her family. She's more complex than I presumed.

Asher's interesting... and I'm curious as to how this will play out.

I don't get the title... nor do I understand how she could be fired without due process when she's best friends with the fiance to the CEO. Seriously, it's a lawsuit.

This story is mostly about a girl and wanting to get her fashion line up and running. Even though the male lead is the one with the money I don't think this book is really about him for it to be a guy on the cover or the title to lead the reader to believe he is the main character. Its an open ended. This book didn't leave me wanting needing to read the next book.
I liked the characters in the book. I think it just came down to not every book is for everyone and this one just didn't suck me into the story.

I really really dislike the heroine. She is rude, defensive, self-centered, and plainly highly unlikable.

Kate Jameson designs lingerie and works on the receptionist desk at Devlin media corp. Her bff Lacey is engaged to Grant Devlin, from the other series: The Billionaire Bargain by Lila Monroe. Asher Young is an old college buddy of Devlin’s and he brings his latest skinny blonde model date to get lingerie from Kate’s fitting service set up in her apartment. It doesn’t stop him flirting with Kate, though.
She needs an investor after she gets herself fired looking at shots of busty women in lingerie on the work computers.
***
Lila Monroe’s style is pretty ott.
Asher is a geek who’s made billions. And he and Kate have a bit in common.
And then I heard another gasp- this one from Asher. “Is that an original copy of Graham’s Magazine? With The Murders in Rue Morgue?” he whispered. There was awe in his voice as he lifted the magazine from my shelf, reverently handling it in its plastic archival sleeve. Holy shit. His cool demeanor had most definitely left the building, and I felt myself flush with pride as I started to answer him, but then Dove peeked over the top of the changing screen, light dancing in her eyes. (Kindle Locations 110-114).

They’re short serials; designed to make you pay up for the next part so they usually finish on some sort of cliffhanger.
A bit of fun.

Lingerie leads to love

Kate is a designer of hand sewn lingerie. Famous people spread the word of her great designs. That’s how she meets Asher Young.

Her best friend Lacey is engaged to Grant Devlin, of Devlin Media Corp, orders a trousseau for her upcoming honeymoon.

Grant, Brody, and Asher know each other from college. And Kate sees them all dressed up at a charity event.

Soon after, Kate gets fired from Devlin Media for improper internet usage. So she is dying to just work on her lingerie line.
Kate`s family is condescending towards her design business. So Kate brags about Asher Young wanting to invest in her business. Asher confirms they will be doing business together, and needs to move their meeting to the next day. Kate`s brother, the family golden child, is jealous. Her parents are all of a sudden proud.

The meeting, Asher wants her to manufacture in China. Kate loses her temper, and gets a room for herself. Asher stops by and makes a play for her, which she shuts down..

Asher makes it up to Kate by finding her the perfect property for her business.

I didn’t care for the previous books (Grant and Lacey) but hoped this duet would be better. It was not. I liked the premise, but again the author tried too hard to be witty and cute. The inner thoughts and speech of the fmc were too much hyperbole, too immature and too ridiculous. The ending was very rushed. Having never been officially even dating and in fact in the middle of her being angry with him, he suddenly professes his life, she professes hers and he proposes. Ridiculous. I think I’m done with this author, her style is just not for me.

Receptionist or lingerie designer

Kate being a receptionist and lingerie designer was a thrill. But when Devlin Media said she was looking at porn let her go she decided to begin looking into ways to go into business. The one person who could make it happen she kept blocking. Lacey her best friend set her straight about Asher. Will Kate except Ashers offer to let him invest and small percentage owner,

Fun Quick Read

Lila Monroe is a sneaky author - I usually detest super short serial style books and avoid them at all costs (including free) and then I try one of hers and find my self drawn in and irritated I'm enjoying it so much. The Billionaire Game (book 1), introduces quirky and snarky Kate and rather egotistical Asher. The dialog is laugh out loud and the situation has me curious. Disgruntled to be so interested in book 2.

Nice Read

This book was one of the best book I've read in a little while . I didn't want to put it down ! When you meet someone and they know more about your business than you do it is a little irritating , but it is a relief when they finally get it . A very good book to read . And I would recommend it to everyone to get a copy and enjoy the read 😋

Cliffhanger!

Interesting plot line but too short. I really would have liked it if it was a complete story. I don't enjoy cliffhangers. I wish it had been a full story. Just as it was getting interesting, it stopped!
