USA Today bestselling author, J. Penner bakes a little magic into every page of her cozy fantasies which are filled with friendship, found family, good food and the sweetest romance. She lives in sunny San Diego with her family, and of course, her cats.
I loved this book! I appreciate that Poppy is different from her sister Iris (FMC in book 1). Poppy introducing herself to a new neighbor, Finnic (fae), and he meets her with rudeness and she in turn wants to sabotage his acting gig, honestly I get it 🤷🏾♀️ Poppy’s denial and confusion of her feelings towards Finnic (MMC) made me giggle. The chemistry between Finnic and Poppy wasn’t rushed but rather well paced and developed. I can see their connection and the romance is clearly there. I absolutely loved the character development of Poppy, she was able to reflect on what happiness looks like and challenge her ideas from her older sister Dahlia.
Tropes you can expect to find: This is a low stakes, she falls first, witch x fae, Shakespeare references.

I was so excited to read this. After reading Death Meets Cute at the beginning of the year I was so excited to read this. And it didn’t disappoint
Following Poppy who’s happy to spend her days baking, doing needlework and contemplating hiring a dragon, her life is suddenly turned upside down by her new fae neighbour Finic.
After getting off on the wrong foot, Poppy decides to try and embarrass Finic into leaving town. But what starts as a ploy to chase the fae away quickly turns into something else
I adored Poppy. I resonated with her at points of the story as her need to find herself and get out from under her sisters overbearing nature felt similar to how I was feeling when I read this
This was so cosy, the settings described well enough that I could picture everything clearly without it being overly flowery or over the top. I’m hoping Dahlia gets her own story soon because I’d love to see the eldest sisters story
Personally, I did not like this book. I found Poppy annoying and Finnic to lack character. I felt no chemistry between these two and was often bored of their interactions. I felt the goal of Poppy being the wickedest witch seem a bit contrary to her character and she gave more nice vibes than I would expected. I feel like it would have been better to have her be committed to ruining theater for revenge or something similar. The only plus is that I liked Oberon which is Poppy's familiar. He was the best character and was trying to be helpful. Overall, I am disappointed that I did not like this book as I thought I would especially since I loved A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic.
Overall, this was a light, easy read with a sweet romance at its core. I enjoyed the incorporation of Shakespeare, as well as the cute and humorous moments between our main characters, Poppy and Finic, which kept this story cozy and enjoyable. Oberon was my favorite character by far- I only wish there had been more moments with him!
Unfortunately, the characters lacked depth, and the romance also felt surface-level. Finic fell flat for me, making his chemistry with Poppy felt unconvincing.
Poppy calling herself "evil" seemed odd; and I found her character immature, and much of the story read more like a Young Adult.

All's Spell That Ends Spell was such a fun and charming fantasy read. I really enjoyed the magical, fairy-tale-inspired feel of the story, and there was a nice mix of romance, humor, and adventure throughout.
I especially liked the way the story played with familiar fairy-tale ideas while still giving them its own twist. The romance was also really enjoyable, and there were plenty of cute and entertaining moments along the way.
Overall, this was a light, whimsical read with plenty of charm. I think it will be a great fit for anyone who enjoys romantic fantasy and fairy-tale retellings with a fun, easygoing feel.
I really liked the cozy, magical feel of this one and thought the premise was really cute. Poppy’s journey of figuring out what she truly wants for herself was interesting, and Oberon was definitely one of my favorite characters. There were also some fun and sweet moments between Poppy and Finnic.
Unfortunately, the romance didn’t completely work for me. I wanted more chemistry and tension between Poppy and Finnic, and the story felt pretty slow in some parts. I kept waiting for things to really pick up, but it never fully grabbed me. Overall, it was a cute and whimsical read with some enjoyable moments, just not one I completely connected with.
I had mixed feelings about the Deluxe Edition of All's Spell That Ends Spell by J. Penner, but there is definitely a lot to enjoy here! On the positive side, the cozy magical atmosphere is wonderful, and the story is colorfully told with lots of vivid details. I really loved Mira’s emotional growth as she learned to embrace her magic, and Oberon the helpful familiar was such a standout character. However, the pacing did hold the book back from being a total favorite. The plot felt a bit slow and superficial at times, and I kept waiting for the story to really pick up speed. The chemistry between the main characters also felt a little flat, making it hard to get fully invested in their romance, and the ending where the magic is lost was a bit of a letdown. It is still a decent, cozy read with a great premise, but it just needed a bit more momentum to truly shine!

What a roller-coaster ride this story is. The way you feel emotions we sometimes take for granted is felt for the first time through the character's eyes is so wonderfully betrayed here. It sure is a wonderful journey to go on in this fantasy world. Then that ending. Wow. Loved it.
I highly recommend this read if you want an adventure in a fantasy realm.

All's Spell That Ends Spell by J. Penner is a pnr romantasy published by PPenPress and Sourcebooks. Poppy wants to become the best witch ever. Finic her mmc has no clue, but is kinda sweet. Through no fault of his he gets in a bind and Poppy has to readch high to help free him. An entertaining story, well written, kinda confusing, but in the end all's well.
I liked the premise and the cozy magical atmosphere, but overall it felt a little too slow for me. There were parts I enjoyed, but I kept waiting for the story to really pick up. Not a bad read, just a bit underwhelming - three stars.
Thank you to the publisher for gifting me this ARC for an exchange on a review. I really enjoyed the story. It was cool of seeing fae and magic in it. It kinda felt cozy for me. It was kinda slow.
