Ruthless Love

I thought running from him would save us.

I was wrong.

For years, I built a new life far away from Hunter Dane, the ruthless husband I once loved, feared, and lost. I told myself he was part of my past. That prison had finally put enough distance between us. That my daughters and I were safe.
Then he found us.
And now he knows the truth.
I didn’t just hide one child from him. I hid two.
Hunter is no longer the man I left behind. He is colder, harder, and more dangerous than ever. And this time, he isn’t coming only for revenge.
He is coming for his family.
For our daughters.
For me.
I ran once. But a man like Hunter doesn’t forgive betrayal. And he never lets go of what belongs to him.

Ruthless Love is high spice romance, a dark mafia romance about exes who were never truly over, a broken marriage, divorce, betrayal, a secret baby, an unexpected pregnancy, second chances, and a ruthless husband determined to reclaim the family he lost.

Brutal, irredeemable MMC

This was horrible from the get go and we for sure don't need two books of horrible. It's all over the place. The couple is apart more than together yet still technically married. For what reason Idk. I felt sorry for FMC at first, she was very young and wasn't given details of her arranged marriage. When the new husband spends their wedding night with his mistress, that's all I'd need to know to file for divorce. FMC however, allows herself to be caged, betrayed, emotionally abused for years while allowing intimacy with the monster, for what reason I can't imagine, before she finally leaves. MMC loves and is committed to his mistress through most of their marriage and is nothing but cruel and emotionally abusive to FMC, so again what kind of sign do you need to file for divorce, neither of them ever even consults an attorney. Pretty much every character in these books is toxic with the exception of the children. Yes, even spending as much time apart as they do, they manage to have 3 children over 8-10 years of insanity, I lost track. MMC is cruel, selfish, arrogant, demanding and a criminal at some if not all points throughout the book yet the author feels she can redeem him? The FMC after years of her husband's cruelty still can't resist him most of the time? She has flashes of independence but ends up back with MMC in the end so I can't imagine her being anything other than a doormat. This story is not enjoyable at any point. I can only say I finished due to lots of skimming and a desire to see who survived the train wreck.

Zero Hero improved..

This ML was simply disgusting in the first book. I lost respect for the character almost immediately and he never earned it back. In this book, he’s marginally better and I still intensely dislike this character. He’s still disgusting but the FL decided she loved him enough to have two more children with.

KU and this series just wasn’t for me. The guy was just disgusting and his taste in women was suspect. That trashy OW that he was so devoted to turned out to be a traitor but all he did to her was send her to work at a farm. That retribution was totally inadequate…

Just so bad

Sadly, it’s not even just the plot or mistakes in the writing. It’s also how unrealistic it is. This is supposed to be a daughter who is 6 1/2 years old maybe almost 7, who is demanding a new iPhone and wearing lipstick. I don’t even know what I’m reading. This might be one of the least developed stories I’ve ever read and if it wasn’t clear in the first book it’s definitely clear in this one that this author will try and redeem anything. But not only that you have a woman who supposedly owns her father‘s house who is supposedly trying to be a good parent, but letting her daughter hang out with bad people. Please make this story make sense. It makes absolutely no sense. Please save your money because the few good reviews. I got clearly didn’t read this book.

lost

Same as the first book, went down hill. There really wasn’t need for a second book. A lot of mistakes in both books and I had to skip most of the second book. Was so boring to read but had to finish it.

Ok

I wasn't too sure about this book and I think everything that happened could have just been put in one book ,I also didn't find any characters endearing

Hunter Dane remains irredeemable to the point that I laugh. He is a horrible person. I still liked the story overall. I do wish Chloe had had more backbone in this book and at least had an affair or we’d have some other man drama to balance how much of a $$ Hunter was. lol.

They made their way back to each other but with too many concessions from Chloe. He had the magic stick.

I still liked this duet. Definitely different but not the traditional cheating-redemption novel most are going to seek. Even I was irritated reading about Hunter, and I usually like a bad, unrepentant hero.

This is the sequel to Heartless Love. It starts out with Chloe visiting her husband Dane in prison. She has no recollection of the past six years of her life. She doesn't remember how her husband's bitch of a mistress, Eva attacked her in a bathroom where she fell and hit her head resulting in amnesia. She also doesn't know that Dane ended up in prison because he had more than one enemy and she entangled herself with a Russian bad guy, Karimov. Nor does she remember that her husband only married her because her father promised to further his political career. Most importantly, she has no knowledge that Dane kept his side piece Eva throughout those six years. Of course he doesn't tell her any of this because he wants to wet his dick during their conjugal visits which results in their second child. He is what you would call a morally black persona.

This is a good story because you don't think that it will be possible for them to get back together and continue on with their lives as a happy couple. However, their hearts find their way back to each other and become intertwine with their children Diana, Catherine and Luke. This was a spectacular read. I'm not sure if I'm going to read her other books though. The characters seem just too old. I'm not a fan of old people romance.

I did NOT want to read this second book. I hated Hunter in the first book. In my eyes, he did not redeem himself but I understood what the author tried to accomplish.

And Diana? Ugh! What a spoiled brat.

Review for books 1 and 2,

I am glad I found this duet on June 5th, so I could jump into book 2 the next day, on its release date. The story is really engaging and emotionally gripping. I can reread it many times or listen to it again if it's enhanced with human voices (Dual or Duet version), which can attract more listeners.

In Book 1, the writing is closed-door, with zero 🌶️ and minimal sexual references, leaving many details out and confusing the reader. I would love to see more character development and emotional insight, especially about Chloe's and Hunter's feelings. For example, if Chloe were a virgin and Hunter were faithful to his mistress, all mouthy, making sure Chloe did not harbor any false expectations from him, my question is: when did they collide with intimacy? 🤔How did it happen? How did Hunter feel about the fact that Chloe was a naive virgin girl in love with him? Her inner monologue lets you notice that he was coming back to her bed sporadically, then leaving again for the other woman. So I assumed he was either attracted to her or developing feelings for her.🤔

The main plot,
A young Chloe had a crush on Hunter and so willingly entered an arranged marriage to win Hunter's heart. Her father manipulated Hunters with promises for his political campaign to ensure he could marry Chloe. On the other hand, Hunter, feeling manipulated and in love with Eva, ensured to treat Chloe with deliberate cruelty, leaving Chloe emotionally devastated for over two years.

Eventually, Chloe grew tired and found a way to take revenge on Hunter 💪. 🛑No spoiling further. Her actions led to a five-year separation from Hunter, who eventually tracked her down🦮 and set out to live with her daughter in one of his apartments and not in the main house, because it was Eva's home after Chole's departure, allowing Eva and Hunter to continue their HEA for an eight-year love story (almost a decade, LOL) while poor Chloe was struggling.

With Chloe back, I enjoyed Hunter's dilemma about the two women and his daughter. There were some twists and turns, with major, devastating revelations and threats, that ended on a cliffhanger for the second book, hoping to bring a strong Chloe, not a doormat.

Book 2, The verdict, Gosh, I am glad I waited only hours for this release! Open-door with some🌶️

The book began with the aftermath of the event that led to the cliffhanger. 🛑No spoiling.
In this aftermath, Chloe and Hunter got closer and became pregnant again. The story had a lot of family drama involving Chloe's brother, Logan, and his wife, Liliy. Also, her mom and the daughters. On the other hand, Hunter's focus was on rebuilding his empire, eliminating threats, punishing some brats, and most importantly, winning Chloe back.

Were you expecting a groveling and redemption arc? Yes!!! ...Unfortunately, it did NOT happen, because Hunter was an alpha male who always got what he wanted, making him another unredemebale hot mafia male. His groveling was in a full forced proximity, leaving Chloe no choice but to take him back. As she repeatedly said, she needed to find "a common ground" between Hunter and her daughters since he was determined to stay in her life (I swear! I could have killed him! LOL)... But, in a second thought about his skillful hands, beautiful physique, and unlimited resources, I think the past was easily a closed case LOL!

PS to the author:
Could part 1 be edited to include more details about the first two years of Chloe and Hunter's relationship? Specifically, was Hunter developing feelings for Chloe during those intimate moments? Can you scatter some chapters from Hunter/Chloe's POV to help the readers better understand their emotional journey? Or write a new book for Hunter's point of view, as Cora Reilly did with Bound of Duty? Perhaps he was falling in love, but his stubbornness led him to make more mistakes (only sharing my reader's thought).

Review from book 1:Do I read mafia romances usually? Nope
Do I read mafia romances where its not even clear the mmc is in the mafia but there are just some concepts of Mafia life? Typically no.

And this book contains all the reasons why I dont read mafia romance usually ( I have dipped my toes into the trope though..Cora Reilly and LJ Shen plus a few others)

💋 Age Gap Romance: An adult with a ton of secual experience marrying a innocent, virginal teenager.

💋 Violence for no reason. Breaking fingers and necks.people dissapearing

💋 A doormat heroine who does at moments stand up for herself but then goes right back to the exact same life that she escaped from. He makes minimal changes to himself or his lifestyle.

💋 Mistresses getting the best parts of the hero and the heroine getting scraps. The heroine just has to smile look pretty and just take the scraps of when the hero wants her intimately.

💋 The heroine turning into a baby making factory on the rare occasions that they do the horizontal
mambo.

💋 Non- con sex being represented as the hero " wanting" or " showing love" for the heroine 🤢 🤕

So this book has all of thst..so why was I a o fascinated to finish it and rated it 4 stars? Maybe im a sucker for the drama?

Review from Book 2: i did it..I finished watching the AI assisted mafia romance..that didnt ferl like an actual mafia romance but he was a billionaire because of criminal charges snd did go to jail.

The major issue I had was..would the mmc hVe picked the fmc over the evil other eonan if he didnt find out she was just using him for power and influence?

He had a family with the fmc but they spent more time apart then together.

Usual AI issues: timelines dripping around, whose paragraphs snd pages appearing twice, name ( first amd last) either changing or being used interchangeable.

Well I wanted to see what more drama could be thrown at the couple so I stayed

So glad I took a chance on this. It must have been my masochistic side that wanted me to continue reading this absolute wreck but it remains unsated. This one wasn't so bad. Did it redeem the MMC in my eyes? No, but I don't hate him now either.

Chloe remains stalwart but I would have held on to my grudges a little longer and made him grovel, but alas she isn't me. I needed him to crawl for her but the alphas don't grovel hunh?

Hunter is better in this and so unlike the automaton in Book 1. I think prison mellowed him. I love what he did with Eva, she deserves a much worse fate than that. On second thought, he was quite too liberal with her. Also, I wish I knew his background, the reason why he turned the way he did or what he did for a start.

The biggest disappointment in the book though is Diana. She was such a doll in book 1. Why make her so callous in this one?

Overall, good to read this after the wreck of Book 1.

Hunter & Chloe’s story concludes. Their relationship definitely checked all my boxes.
Hunter finds out who attacked Chloe causing her amnesia and starts to build a future by deceiving her about their marriage.
Chloe suffers many deep scars, internally hurts, doesn’t trust and doesn’t understand her hate and love feelings towards Hunter.
Hunter is a liar, treats his mistress better than Chloe, deceit, controlling and mentally cruel.
Unforgivable: Hunter wedding night was spent with his mistress!!!!!!!
He is attracted to Chloe because of her uncontrollable personality making her interesting and her unwillingness to be controlled.
There is character growth and it was rewarding to see his effort and determination into giving her everything she deserves just to make her feel loved, appreciated, valued and happy.
Epilogue takes you four years into the future. Two daughters and a son!
Definitely enjoyed the story but wished there was an audible for it.

*** spoilers I nearly didn’t read these 2 books due to reading reviews. Glad I decided to read couple chapters and decide for myself. It’s not best book I’ve ever read but it’s def not worse. The MMC ends up in jail for crimes (he’s done) but basically revenge by criminal who tried to rape MMC wife and he stopped him (yes the cruel ruthless husband everyone says has no morals and is unredeemable 🤔). Not saying he isn’t cruel & twisted in parts. In beginning book she looks part of her memory & as he’s falling for her he uses that to his advantage & pretends their marriage was happy one and sleeps with her repeatedly (with her getting pregnant again) then she gets memory back. By end on book it’s clear he’s a changed man. Lesson learnt read book for yourself as people put their own spin on what they read

Fire

Chloe thought she had more time before Hunter was released from prison. She was trying to provide for her family. Because you have same of same blood doesn't always make you family. Her family were like untrained animals she was trying to train. Seeing her personality make a 360° turn was great. The pensive woman was gone. When Hunter was released, he was worst than before (cruel). He never thought he would see his wife with some much hate, but so much love for her kids and did everything to protect them, including from him.

I never would've though he could show compassion for anyone who hurt him and his family, but he did. He didn't cause physical harm to them, but he made them live in their own mess. 😅

It took a few tries for me to get into this story. It is the second part of a duet and I don't think it works as a stand alone.
The h is a complete doormat and the H is a smirking a**hole for the first couple of chapters. Then the h regains her memory and the H is released from prison and the groveling begins. This book has minimal OW drama (a little bit of jealousy) and much less angst than book one which is on my reread shelf. It is mostly satisfying to see how the ones who destroyed the lives of the h and H get their just rewards

I didn't realize this was the sequel to The Heartless Husband (don't know how I missed it), but that explains why I was so confused in the beginning. I remembered while reading it that it sounded familiar, so I confirmed it.

That being said, it was nothing new, just an extension of the story. And the roles were essentially reversed where FMC is dumb and petty in this one and MMC isn't. That was the other way around in the first one.

I still think FMC would've been better off moving on.

Weak

Spoilers

Lord she was so weak. You husband cheats, you take him back. Your family betrays you but you move them in, you work and they spend money and do nothing.

I needed more of the back story. He really did say sorry or explain this but he had sex with her and gives her money sooo she was ok.

loved the characters

Love the characters, loved both books but was disappointed when it ended very abruptly. somehow was expecting a bit more to the ending, how they forgive each other, how he grovels and wins her back so apart from that, I love the book

Book 2 Ruthless Love

Part 2, in my opinion, was written better. It provided a lot of answers, raised many questions, and enhanced my understanding. While groveling wasn’t as prominent, the sense of regret was effective.

So so good

I had no idea how Hunter could fully possibly redeem himself after everything from book 1 and I thought he was a lowlife at the beginning of this. Poor Chloe deserved a HEA and I'm so thrilled that she did. Hurrah!

hmmm!

I’m not sure how I feel about this conclusion. I have questions. Was Hunter in the mafia? Why didn’t Hunters enemies go after Chloe when her memory returned and she left him? Why didn’t Chloe ask what he was doing for income? Etc etc etc

I started off thinking I had chosen wrong book and ended up turning pages and reading well into the night. The storyline was different but laced with hope and long held devotion with a lovely ending. Well worth a read.

A true love story.

I could not put these books done. It was in creditable. Life isn’t perfect, marriages have ups and downs. There is good times and bad. You can survive if you are willing to put in the work. These books brought all of that and I loved it.
