Most enjoyable. I'm not an Everton fan, so I didn't really follow his career, but this is an entertaining tale of a life in football. Ferguson was a very good player and coach although in this book he explains why perhaps he underachieved. That said, he achieved a great deal throughout his career.

There are the usual anecdotes you find in these autobiographies, and Ferguson has more of them than most due to his fiery character. One of the famous ones was when he heard burglars in his house and he came down stairs to confront them... they regretted their choice of victim.

He prides himself on his honesty and for 'telling it like it is' in his various football roles. However, the other side of that coin is a lack of tact and diplomacy. One suspects that at times his forthright manner is more of a vice than a virtue; certainly in terms of promotion.

For me the mark of a good book is the speed at which I read it. If you have any affection for football, this is a fine read.

I would have thought this is a must read for every Evertonian. Duncan is quite a character to say the least. Absolutely whole hearted and committed to all the clubs he played for and coached. He’s lived three lives already!
