Ruth Jones is without doubt one of my favourite authors!
I have read all of her books so far and they haven't disappointed.
By Your Side has made me laugh and cry. The characters, as in her other books, feel so real, ordinary and relatable. The reviews are right when they mention it is heartwarming and filled with compassion.

If I could give this book six stars I would. Can't say another book has made me feel like that in honesty. Loved everything about the plot. Jones creates her characters with the utmost empathy and sincerity....I could hear her voice as it's written with her as the main character, Linda - in my opinion! A very sad, but thoroughly beautiful plot which twists and turns so cleverly. A jaw dropping few moments and one where I really did cry! Please, please write more Ruth Jones....your talents are endless!

Nicely written and lovely characters. Linda works at the Unclaimed Heirs Unit and is about to retire but has one last case to close. The characters in the book were all likeable and it felt like we got to know them pretty well. The Scottish setting was also a treat. A nice easy story if you want a book that is light, fun and not too heavy to read.

Slow start but once I got into it I couldn’t put it down, then towards the end it slowed down a little. I definitely preferred Levi’s story, I actually think that the story would have been better without Linda’s POV. Overall I enjoyed it.

Wow what a brilliant book and we'll written and it definitely kept me hooked and wanting to read more and more. It was a gentle easy read that was sad at times and happy but just a wonderful story which I completely enjoyed. I recommend this book big time and for a book club or general read. Enjoy.

Brilliant read! Page turner! Linda is an heir hunter about to retire with one last case, Levi. The story revolves around a few central characters and each brings depth to the story. Set in Scotland, a light and sometimes amusing novel with a splash of love, hatred and sadness.

Another great book by Ruth Jones. So well written. Her humour shines through and I did find myself laughing aloud on my commute to work. Interesting characters and great storyline. This would make a great film.

Another emotional rollercoaster from Ruth Jones, her writing literally tugs on the heartstrings and teaches us that life really is short and precious. Lovely story that shows family can be the people you choose.
