Willow Bay Stables #2

Eight-Second Ride

Rate this book
Owen Daniels lives his life eight seconds at a time. The thrill of anticipation that comes with sitting on twelve hundred pounds of untamed power is unparalleled. The adrenaline rush that floods his system when the chute opens is one of life’s most unique and natural highs.

Ride eight seconds bareback on a bucking bronco—that’s his life.

When Owen’s stock horse, Remington’s Lady, is injured midway through the rodeo circuit, he trailers her back home to Willow Bay, Alberta, to remain in the care of the local vet, Ray Brookes.

Months later, with a truck bed full of buckles, Owen comes home to collect his Lady from the man he trusted to help her recover. Only Ray happens to be short for Rayne, and Rayne happens to be a woman.

And this woman wants nothing to do with a cowboy fresh off the circuit. As far as she’s concerned, he can take his buckles, boots, and spurs right back on out of her life.

Will Rayne keep them from holding on to their eight-second ride? Or will love buck out of the chute in time for a perfect score?

I was born and raised in Ladner, a small farm town just outside Vancouver, Canada.

I never expected to be an author. Writing was something that snuck up on me and rooted itself into my life. It was beautiful to discover that love, and I’m truly grateful to say I’ve found my passion.

If I could leave y’all with one thing, it’s that life’s far too short to not live it out loud. Drown in your passions, hold on tight to the things that inspire you, and chase your dreams relentlessly. I can promise you without a doubt that you won’t regret it. I know I don’t.

Mad love,

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight….Eight seconds was all it took for me to fall hard and get addicted to Anne Jolin. Saddle up and hold on tight as Anne Jolin has me ready to rope in Owen Daniels as one of my favorite cowboys.

photo 20fdbca99cd295dee1236f7ed60cbe_zps348mhayu.gif “In my thirty-one years, I ain’t ever took kindly to bein’ told no. Didn’t matter , though. She’d come ‘round. I’d make damn sure of that.”

Okay, I have a confession to make Eight Second Ride is the first book that I have read from Anne Jolin. I know, I know how come it took me so long to read her books but rest assured after reading this book, I am hooked and can’t wait to read her other books. With that confession out of the way, let’s talk about Owen Daniels!!!

#Eight Second Ride1

Who is Owen Daniels? Well besides the fact that he is my new cowboy book husband. Yes, Anne Jolin I am claiming him. Owen Daniels is a rodeo bronco rider and so when he heads back home to get his horse, Remington’s Lady from the local vet, he is greeted by the new veterinarian, Rayne Brookes.

photo 20fdbca99cd295dee1236f7ed60cbe_zps348mhayu.gif “Every kiss we shared before was rivaled by this kiss, because with this kiss, he owned me. I was owned by Owen.”

After meeting Rayne, Owen immediately asked out Rayne out on a date but she turns him down. After two tries, she turns him down again but that doesn’t stop Owen from worming his way into Rayne’s heart. When he heard that Rayne needed a new roof, Owen immediately went to her house to fix it up and was greeted by Rayne and her daughter. Soon Rayne’s guard begins to crumble and she agrees to go on a date with Owen.

#eightSecondRide

As far as first dates goes, Owen had won me over when he included Rayne’s daughter, Ryley on their outing. And soon it didn’t take long for Rayne and Owen to fall hard. Owen makes it known to Rayne that he will take care of her and her daughter. Trust me, when I tell you that you will be totally smitten with Owen. As Owen and Rayne’s relationship progresses, readers will soon discover as to why Rayne didn’t want to date a cowboy. Will Rayne’s fear and past prevent her from truly moving forward with Owen? Will Owen be able to show Rayne that it only took 8 seconds to fall hard for her?

#Eight Second Ride2

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight….. Eight seconds is the amount of time a bronco needs to stay on. Eight seconds of pure adrenaline and fear. Eight seconds of victory. For any cowboy, it is the longest eight seconds of your life. But within those eight seconds, life and love can be lost and found. For Owen Daniels, his eight seconds to holding onto is nothing compared to a lifetime of loving Rayne and her daughter Ryley. And so Anne Jolin brings forth a love story that will capture your heart for more than eight seconds.

photo 20fdbca99cd295dee1236f7ed60cbe_zps348mhayu.gif “That was how cowboys did it. He ravaged me. He ruined me. He cherished me. He worshiped me. And when he was finished making love to me, Owen owned every part of my body.”

Eight Second Ride was a sweet, heartwarming summer read that will leave a big fat smile on your face. Anne Jolin beautifully reigns in her readers as she weaves a second chance romance that is filled with hope, beauty, love, honesty, and raw vulnerability. I absolutely adore this book and author. Everything about this book was just perfect. I loved the simplicity of the story line. While this book focused on Owen and his love for Rayne, I loved that Anne Jolin incorporated a raw and real backstory as to why Rayne is guarded with her heart. So if you are looking for a story that didn’t take me a minute or an hour to fall in love with, but within eight seconds then I would highly recommend you to fall in love with Owen Daniels and his eight second ride to forever.

Swoony and broody, that's the best way to describe Owen Daniels, the cowboy who just won my heart. Hmm, maybe also add sexy and kind to the list, since he was that, too.

Actually, he was a lot of things—all of them basically wonderful. Just like this book. Eight Second Ride is just another shining example of Anne Jolin's fun and flirty storytelling. It was heartfelt and heartwarming, and yes, for a brief moment there, my eyes watered up enough that I could hardly see the pages. Ms. Jolin packed a lot of emotion into this quick read—I was done within a couple of hours, I'm sorry to say; I could have read about Owen for at least a couple more—and that made it all the more enjoyable.

There were a lot of beautiful moments throughout this book. Owen proved to be pretty much perfect, and he showed that in the way he took to Rayne's life and all its complications, pushing past her walls. The Daniels family was, once again, charming and funny, and I'm thrilled at the prospect of Aurora's book, coming soon. And there was a thread of redemption in Eight Second Ride, too, which made for a feel good story and a happy, happy ending.

I love the way Ms. Jolin writes. Her stories are heavy on sweet and swoony, deeply romantic and a little fanciful, and I always close them with a light heart and a smile on my face. This particular book was no exception, thanks, in large part, to the extra swoony and broody Owen Daniels—owner of my heart. ~ Beth, 4.5 stars

The Blurb of Rein In (Willow Bay Stables #3) by Anne Jolin caught my eye and as it was already the third book in that series I thought (for a change) I should take the time and start a series at the beginning. Therefore I took the time to first read

Change Rein (Willow Bay Stables #1) and Eight-Second Ride (Willow Bay Stables #2)

And I think this series is a good example of an author that grew with writing..

In Change Rein I had trouble to connect to the leading characters the beginning was so sudden as was the appearance of Branson. It took me pages to get what he did and what was happening. And I have to be honest – for a very long time Branson felt more like a stalker to me than anything else and London is – I am not sure. Lets just say they were not my couple of the year.

With Eight Second Ride it was already a little different. Owen and Ray were a lot more likeable to me as a reader. I felt it was easier to connect with them. Maybe because by then I got a little used to the authors writing style ? Or because they were better developed ? not sure but for me as a “no Stetson” girl – I could work with that storyline a lot better.

Which brings me to the third book “Rein In” … it is the by far best of the three. From the first page on I was drawn into the story and connected with Rhys. He was a really great character so likeable from the start. I can even confirm that Aurora the female lead is really like the blurb describes her – a modern day saint –

The storyline is really well developed and contains a good dose suspense at the right moments. It tugs and pulls at your heartstrings and I am pretty sure that the readers will love this book even more the previous books in that series.

Reviewed on behalf of The Book Boyfriend Addict (www.bookboyfriendaddict.com). A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

“You really are a cowboy.” I rolled my eyes.
Jumping out of the truck, he ran around the hood and opened my door for me. “I ain’t just a cowboy, darlin’.” He tucked me into his jacket, protecting me as best he could from the rain. “I’m your cowboy, as long as you’ll have me.”

I recently read Change Rein, the first book in the Willow Bay Stables series, and enjoyed it but I actually thought this one was even better. It was still a quick and easy read but I felt like this one was a bit meatier in terms of storyline with a solid backstory for Rayne that created believable conflict between her and Owen. Also, unlike the first book, this one was not insta-love, in fact Owen had to work quite hard to just get Rayne to even agree to a date with him and I always enjoy a good chase! There was also a little twist early on in the book that I wasn’t expecting but really loved, it’s actually one of my favorite things in romance novels and I was a goner as far as Owen was concerned as soon as that came to light. It’s not mentioned in the blurb so I’m not going to spill the beans here, but once you read this, I think you’ll understand what I mean.

This book is about Owen Daniels, the only son and eldest child of the Daniels’ family. He’s a long time rodeo cowboy who lives for the thrill and the adrenaline rush he gets each time he gets on the back of a bucking bronco. When the circuit ends he returns home to collect his stock horse who had been trailered home a few months earlier with an injury. Expecting to see Ray Brookes, the town vet and man he trusted with his Lady while he was gone, he is shocked to learn that Ray is actually short for Rayne, the daughter of the elder Ray Brookes. Smitten with her, he asks her out on a date during their first meeting and he is promptly turned down. You see, Rayne has one rule, she doesn’t date cowboys and as you’ll come to find out, she has a very good reason for protecting her heart in this manner. What she doesn’t bank on is Owen’s persistence, he vows to ask her out once every day until she says yes. Will Owen be able to wear her down and get her to give him a chance? Or will he just confirm why she should never date a cowboy?

Like I said earlier, I loved how hard Owen had to work to even get just a date with Rayne. It was funny how he kept showing up and little by little wearing her down. In a futile attempt to protect her heart from him, Rayne was plain mean to him at times but it’s hard to deny Owen’s charm and eventually she had to give in. Thanks to the prologue you understand why she’s hesitant to give her heart to another cowboy, but we don’t know the full story until much later. This one actually had quite a heart-breaking twist and I felt equally bad for Rayne for what she had to go through and for Owen who just didn’t understand because of what Rayne was keeping from him. Owen was such a good guy through and through, a true gentleman, and he only wanted to be there for Rayne so it was very hurtful to him when she closed him out. It wasn’t over the top angsty but it was definitely more tumultuous than the first book in the series.

This book was very quick, I read it in one sitting and overall I thought it flowed well. I mentioned this about the first book and I think it holds true a little in this one too, but I would have loved to have seen more of the actual development of the relationship between Owen and Rayne once they were actually dating. We got a lot of the buildup, which I loved, but then there was another time jump and they were already in love. A few more chapters of them growing closer before the drama hit would have been a nice addition. But overall I enjoyed this story and reading the blurb and teaser for Aurora’s story, I am very excited for the third book in this series that is due out this fall!

“Fallin’ in love with you has been the best ride of my life, darlin’. Ain’t eight seconds anywhere on this earth that compare to holdin’ you in my arms at night.”

description

A sweet, home town feel good romance…
This story had me at ‘cowboy’ but when I realized that the author was from my area of the world I admit that peaked my interest even more. This is the second book in the series and my favourite so far!
While this romance has a gentle, small town sweet tone to it, don’t be fooled. There are hidden, painful depths here that are universal. Owen loves his home and his family but is never happier than when he is on the circuit and doing what he lives for – bronco-riding. He’s home on the off-season and his small town has just became even more attractive now that the new vet is in town. Ray has rules that she lives by and being attracted to a man who loves riding in the rodeo is top of her “shall not” list.
“That’s the problem with small towns, everybody knows what you been doin’, who you been doin’, and in my case, who turned you down.”
Owen is instantly attracted to the beautiful vet and his dogged determination to woo her made me smile and swoon. Ray was not going to give in but Owen’s ‘aww shucks’ approach to Ray’s rebuffs covered his steel will. He wasn’t going to take no for an answer and it was a treat watching him work his charm on both Ray and her daughter.
“Guess that’s the funny thing ‘bout wild men, much as we need tamin’ in a lotta ways, ain’t nobody gotta teach us how to love.” *swoon* Yup, that’s Owen right there!
And while he was chasing Ray, he was also winning over her daughter Ryley. The relationship between these two had me in tears and smiles all the way through. His gentle way with his ‘little lady’ was as adorable as Ryley herself and made me want Owen to win over Ray even more. Yup, definitely #TeamOwenRiley!
While I may not have warmed up to Ray in the beginning, all the characters soon had me pulled into their story and cheering them on through the highs and lows. Another great addition to this series!

Eight second ride

**ARC in exchange for honest review**

This book. LOVED everything about it!! It was perfectly written, flowed smoothly and held me captivated throughout the whole book. Anne Jolin is a master at writing. I love her work so much. Everyone of her books sinks its hooks into you and doesn't ever let go. Even way long after you've put her books down. She just has a way with words.

This book brought the tears more than once. Made me feel things I didn't know I'd feel while reading it. I went in blind with this book. All I knew was if was about a cowboy. **gotta love them cowboys** I hadn't even read book one yet, started that book the night befor reading this. Helped me know what I had to look forward to. **i suggest you read book one if you haven't already done so**

This book took turns I didn't see coming and for that I won't be giving away what some may already giveaway in their reviews. I LOVED the first little surprise Anne threw at us. I don't want to take that away from readers. The turns this book took me on where amazing, sad, tearful, heartbreaking and happy. The feels. All the feels while reading this one. I get so lost in the books I'm reading that I always know no matter what I'm reading I feel like I'm there, standing next to the characters as they walk through their journey in each book so when they stumble or have heartbreaking moments I feel it. This book brought that and so much more on for me.

Owen and Rayne are everything. I love them so much. I need Owen in my life. His country talkin, ten gallon hat wearin self is hotter than HELL!! **sigh**

That's all I'm gonna say about them. Read the book and experience the love and turmoil the characters have to go through. You won't be disappointed. Well maybe only alittle when you realize you have to wait for -Rein In- book 3 in the Willow Bay Stables series!

'Every kiss we shared before was rivaled by this kiss, because with this kiss, he owned me.'

Eight Second Ride is book 2 in the Willow Bay Stables series by Anne Jolin and features Owen, the rodeo riding cowboy brother of London from the first book, and Ray the sexy local vet who has a history with cowboys and does not date them. I actually loved this story. Everything about it hit good notes for me. Owen is sweet and yet strong and alpha. He is relentless in his pursuit of Ray and she puts up a great fight. She doesn't make anything easy for the cowboy who has women falling at his feet. Ray's story is emotional and hard and when it all comes out you fully understand her hesitation. These two together made me smile and I loved their chemistry and banter.

"Fallin' in love with you has been the best ride of my life, darlin'"

Eight Second Ride had 5 star potential for my but there were a few things that had me pulling it down a bit. Like most Anne Jolin books I wish it was longer, this is just to say that I think her stories are great and would love more than I get from them. At under two hundred pages it falls on the very short side for a novel for me. The "cowboy" lingo in the book was a bit over the top for me personally. I loved how he talked but think it could have been toned down and still got the same feel across. Lastly for as much chemistry and tension that Owen and Ray have the book fell in the fade to black area for me and while I do not mind FTB books I believe the first book in the series was definitely not FTB and so I was not expecting that from this story. Still none of the points overly distracted to the story which I actually liked better that the first book overall. Lovers of sexy cowboys and strong female leads should pick this one up.

ARC received for honest Review...

Anne Jolin has done it again. She has Given us a little bit of magic wrapped in Hope.

Anne's message in her Stories are always so so beautiful.

From the Prologue I had a lump in my throat feeling for Rayne... My heart broke for her and what she had to go through  at such a young age.
Even when life handed her whole bag of lemons she made the sweetest Lemonade. She is such a strong, amazing woman that its hard not to admire and respect her.
She has an adorable Daughter that Rayne loves and has done such an amazing job raising her.
Ryley steals ur heart instantly and watching her bond with Owen was Magic..
This Book gives us everything we have come to love about Anne....

Now Owen damn, this man is hot, wild but caring and soft.
Firstly I love how he loves his sisters and dad. He was never ashamed to show love and soft touches to anyone he cares for.
Owen was just a huge bag of delicious male Hotness.

Once he set his sights on Rayne he never gave up on her. He knew she was his forever girl and went after her. I like that when he found out about Ryley there wasn't  any hesitation, even when Ray set hurdles he crossed them all to get to her. And he did this without even blinking an eye. He knew she was worth all the trouble.

Owen loved both "His Girls" and he loved his Rodeo. I understand why that scared Ray and I love how well she handled and moved forward.

Only thing that I noticed was this book didn't have alot of sexy time. But even with  that part lacking everything in this book makes this story so amazing. It really does pull on ur heart strings.

I hope you all enjoy this beautiful story as much as I did...

Holy hot alpha cowboy, Batman!!! Owen Daniels is DELICIOUS. He is an alpha with a soft side and to me, that combination is YUH-MEH. I DEVOURED this book!

After meeting Rayne, Owen knew he had to make her his girl, and despite Rayne's efforts, she could not stay away; not that he made it easy. You see, Rayne had a damn good reason as to why she had promised to never date a cowboy, and it was heartbreaking, to be honest. But Owen made it impossible for her to ignore him.

"I ain't just another cowboy, darlin'." He tucked me into his jacket, protecting me as best he could from the rain. "I'm your cowboy, as long as you'll have me."

After finding out Rayne had a little girl, he was shocked, but he sure made up for it. He made sure Rayne knew he was all-in. To me, seeing a man be a good dad is 1000000% swoon-worthy. Okay, so....seeing Owen be a dad to Rayne's little girl.... LAWD, HAVE MERCY!!! I was a goner! Owen Daniels was a KEEPER. He was there not just for Rayne, but for Ryley too. They were a family.

"Fallin' in love with you has been the best ride of my life, darlin'. Ain't eight seconds anywhere on this earth that compare to holdin' you in my arms at night."

Anne Jolin's writing was amazing. She had a way with words that allowed me to feel everything Rayne and Owen felt. I was right their with them on their journey. I felt Rayne's pain and fear. Loving a bronco rider was not easy and Anne portrayed that perfectly. I felt Owen's passion for the rode and his LOVE for Rayne and Ryley. All in all, I must say that this was Anne Jolin's best work to date!! SUPER excited to read the next installment, Rein In! FIVE STARS!

I damn near melted in a puddle throughout this book.

Wow, want a cowboy to swoon over, look no further. Owen, damn!

Right from the first few pages of Eight second ride my eyes we're tearing up and the emotion drew me in deeper.

Anne Jolin sure knows how to take you on a journey with her characters giving you laughter, sorrow and heartfelt moments.

Rayne is a single mother, headstrong and resistant to Owens stubborn yet charming advances and once her barrier is lifted it was a beautiful story.

A beautiful read told in dual pov's that will sweep you away into the fictional world of a hat tipping, smooth talking hot cowboy.

Loved it and also looking forward to Auroras story.

Eight Second Ride has great characters, heartwarming family moments and leads to a hea.

I loved this quote:
Love is like holding sand.
It's a delicate balancing act.
If you let it scare you and hold it too loosely, it will slip through your fingers
and if your to desperate for it and hold it to tightly, it will vanish in your grasp.
You have to cradle you're love, sure yet gentle, like the sand.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!

First I received this book as an ARC reader for a honest review. This was a great book. The story of Owen & Rayne was so touching and hart felt. I can understand why Rayne closed her heart to love. The last time she fell in love she got broken to almost the point of no return. Thank God for the gift Todd had given to her. I do not like giving spoilers so I won't. Just know at one point in this book I was crying like I felt Rayne's hurt. Anne Jolin did an excellent job on the book. I will definitely be reading more of her books. I will also recommend this book to others. If you like a good love story you need to read this book. Joy

I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review :) and it was another great read from this author :) don't worry if you haven't read the previous story in this series, because this one works as a standalone as well :) although I do need to warn you, once you read it... if you haven't read the others, you will definitely want to do it ;) this is yet another perfectly sized book for an entertaining afternoon... a bit longer than a novella but definitely not a full lenght story, it's just enough to spend a nice evening ;) since it's not super long, my review will be on the shorter side as well, since I don't want to spoil you guys every little detail :)

Owen is part of the Daniels family that I fell in love with in that previous story, but again, if you haven't read it, you can just fall in love with them in this installment :) Owen comes home after a few months to see how the vet took care of his horse that got injured a while back... and to his surprise he discovers that Ray he remembers is not the Ray he meets ;) it's actually his daughter who took over the practice after he retired... :) and she definitely catches his eye... ;) I think he is more intrigued about her because she so blatantly refused when he asked her out that first time ;) because which man doesn't like a challenge? ;) she have very good reasons to decline his offer, but I am not gonna get into them, because they are obviously too spoilery ;) but he decides to win her over... and I must say that I would probably give in much sooner than her ;) I absolutely loved Ray, and even though Owen sometimes was a bit too arrogant, I forgave him everytime he opened his mouth and said the word *darlin'* ;) *sighs dreamily* it's my second favourite term of endearment, right after *luv* :)

Besides the main couple there were quite a few fun secondary characters... :) one of them I absolutely cannot name because that person was a total surprise for me while I was reading :) so I know I'm being vague, but you'll thank me once you read the book without that spoiler :) what I can say is that I fell in love with the Daniels family even more in this story :) we have London and Branson, the main couple from the first story and some updates about them :) and of course Aurora, the heroine from the next book was lovely as always... *sighs happily* seriously, this series just keeps getting better and better :)

I don't know what it is about those stories, but even though they are not perfect, I can't help myself and always give them 5 stars ratings :) they are just sooo fun to read :) the writing style is really good and the chapters just fly by and I'm finishing the book before I know what is happening :) this one was once again written in 2 POVs, which gave us chapters from both our main characters perspectives :) I would love nothing more than to share with you a few more details, but I absolutely refuse to spoil you on this lovely story :) so just trust me when I say that it's a super fun and entertaining book that will surprise you with an emotional scene when you least expect it :) I highly recommend this story if you are looking for a quick read that will be a great mix of fun and sweet moments :)

Anne Jolin has done it again - she put me under her spell with Eight Second Ride. I was already in tears after the prologue and with every new page I was falling deeper and deeper in love with this story. Anne has a great talent of creating loveable characters that get under your skin. To say that I loved Owen and Rayne would be an understatement. But please let me first tell you what this amazing book is about.

Owen Daniels is a sexy cowboy with a huge heart who's biggest passion is the rodeo. To ride eight seconds bareback on a bucking bronco gives him a thrill that nothing else does. At least until he meets Rayne Brookes.

When Owen’s stock horse Lady is injured during the rodeo circuit, he brings her back home to Willow Bay to leave her in the care of the local vet, Ray Brookes.

Months later Owen returns home to collect his Lady from the veterinarian he trusted to help her recover. Only the old Ray Brookes has retired and now his beautiful daughter Rayne has taken over his office.

Owen is instantly fascinated by the intelligent and introvertive beauty and asks her out. But Rayne refuses his offer because she doesn't date cowboys. Luckily Owen is a stubborn and charming man who keeps asking until she says yes.

Getting to know Rayne and everything about her will make Owen fall in love with her and leave him with a very hard decision to make...

I can't count the times I've swooned over Owen. He was such an amazing hero who owned my heart right from the beggining. He is a loyal, supportive and loving guy who would do anything for the people he loves. And oh man does this cowboy love deeply! Lucky Rayne ;)

To sum it up: Anne Jolin did a great job with Eight Second Ride and managed to surprise me with two plots twists I didn't see coming. Buy this heart-warming and beautiful love story and give it a chance. You won't regret it!

Eight Seconds as I found out from reading this book and from watching the movie The Longest Ride is how long a bull rider must stay on the bull in order to qualify for the championships and making the big bucks. As someone who grew up with a little bit of knowledge with the rodeos as my Nana and Grandad participated in it as did my Uncle, the rodeo side of things has always fascinated me and one day I wish to see an American Rodeo. The book starts ten years ago where we meet Rayne Brooks and her husband , he is a bull-rider and tragedy strikes . The book then fast-forwards to ten years later where Rayne aka Ray Brooks has just moved to Willow Bay to take over her father's Vet business and raise her daughter . After being hurt after the accident, she made a rule - Never Date a Cowboy or at the very least one involved with the rodeo circuit. After his horse was injured in the Rodeo , Owen Daniels has returned home to Willow Bay Stables - to get his horse fixed and help out the family before heading back onto the road and into the circuit. Owen meets Ray and his heart is captivated with her and so begins the cycle of his asking her out and she - rejecting him with the line of "I don't date cowboys". Can Owen prove to her that he loves her and would do anything for her ? However, when it comes to the crunch - can Owen give up his love and passion of the Rodeo for romance and a life settling down in Willow Bay ? Is Owen Daniels ready for an instant family ? Also for those who remember London Daniels and Branson Tucker from Book #1: Change of Rein - the two have a little baby in Eight Second Ride.

Find out in another awesome book by Anne Jolin in her Willow Bay Stables series and I now can't wait to read Book #3 which is the younger Daniels sister's story.

5 Of the MOST Thrilling 8 Seconds of My Life Stars!!!!

Oh how I loved this book!!!! Owen and Rayne are perfect for each other they just needed to work through some stuff to get there. Owen is this total alpha rodeo rider and Rayne is a woman that has a painful past, but can work wonders for injured horses. Little did Owen know who he was getting when he sent his beautiful girl to "Ray" to be rehabbed. Oh the look on his face when he discovered Ray was Rayne!!!

Another reason I loved this book as much as I did is due to Ms. Jolin's writing. She has a way with her words that lets the reader feel the emotions of the characters in such a way that it's almost visceral. I felt Rayne's pain and cried right along with her and the way Owen falls in love with Ryley just sealed the deal for me. The way Owen loves Rayne is so powerful that I swooned right along with her....
"Ain't eight seconds anywhere on this earth that compare to holdin' you in my arms at night."
There's so much more I could say, but let's just leave it at that this is a book and series that shouldn't be missed and I can't wait to read Rein In.

I loved this story! It has a drop dead gorgeous, rodeo riding, alpha cowboy who was raised right by his mama and knows how to treat a lady! Owen Daniels is all that plus a cherry on top!!!!!!!! He will make you tingle and be happy to be a woman! When he comes home during the off season of the rodeo circuit, he needs to tend to his horse that was hurt and sent home before him. Only thing is, he is expecting Ray the old vet who has now retired and has been replaced by Ray the hot vet, short for Rayne. Once Owen sets eyes on her, he is drawn to her and will do just about anything to prove it to her. Rayne's past holds her back and all she is content with is to be a good vet and a great mom, but she is not ready for how set and determined Owen is. The way Owen interacts with Rayne and her daughter is amazing and will have you saying AWWWWW! You will not be sorry you read this story!

Eight-Second Ride

QueenZany 4.5 Star Review

Eight-Second Ride
by Anne Jolin

Be still my heart! Owen!!!
Oh hell Own stole my ever loving heart! With his alpha demeanor and charm. I have to say he is the perfect lead!!!
The book was a no brainer to me.
“Eight-Second Ride” was a sweet yet emotional journey. It was all in the writing that made this story come alive. No tricks or over sexed book here. It was just raw and had a huge amount of depth. Plus it was quite the novelty not reading a book with every other paragraph they are humping like wild animals. Don't get me wrong I do love a good smut read. But this one just didn't need it. “Eight-Second Ride” is the book you want to read to see what true love is all about!

☆☆Reviewed for Hooked On Books ☆ ☆

I gave this book 4.5 stars!

Anne has written another beautiful and heartbreaking love story. Anne writes with the realism and make you part of the story. You meet Owen in Changing Rein and I knew that a strong woman would be the one to tame this cowboy.

I have a soft spot in my heart for cowboys and the ranch life, with growing up in the country it's not hard to do. This book from the beginning with have you in a emotional mess but then you see what life can be and how love can come to those again after tragedy. Rayne and Owens story takes a look at the love of old and new.

I have truly fell in love with Willow Bay Series and I highly recommend reading it. Each book is a stand alone but characters do interchange, so you still see what is going on in their lives.

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It was an ok read. This second book in the series needed a bit more editing than the first. The author is consistent in her use of wildly hard to understand and quirky euphemisms. The cadence of the dialogue was a bit hard to follow at times. It was a nice story overall.

5 Trusting a Cowboy isn't easy Stars!!

Having read Ms.Jolin's work beforehand and the first book in this series I could not contain my excitement when I saw this book on my Kindle!! I've loved horses for as long as I can remember and to see them featured in such fantastic stories makes me so stinking happy. This story is about how two people meet and the lengths they have to go through to either go their separate ways or stay together. Learning to trust someone and giving them your heart fully is easier said than done which I really liked the fact that that was shown in this book. It's quite hilarious, beautiful, suspsenful, heartbreaking, and sweet. There are many twists that I did not see coming whatsoever which was a pleasant surprise. Ms.Jolin not only created a love story that grips at every single one of my heart strings but a story about overcoming the past and learning how to live again. Ms.Jolin has really become one of my favorite authors!!

Owen Daniels was a character that was a Bronc Rider and a Cowboy through and through. Coming back home to collect his horse Lady from the vet should have been simple and not shocking but it was just that with Rayne Brookes walks into his life. The way he cared for his horse really warmed my heart. I loved the relationship he had with his father and sister's London and Aurora. The playful banter between all four of them cracked me up to no end. Even though he was a bit rough around the edges and brazen as I'll get out he had a huge heart that anyone could see. The determination he had when it came to having to do with anything concerning Rayne was entertaining to read unfold to say the least. He didn't give up no matter what which I adored. In the end I hoped love would rival the thrill and intensity of those eight seconds so that he could be happy because he sure as heck deserved to be.

Rayne Brookes was a character that took over her fathers position as Veterinarian. Those eight seconds could change everything forever and she knew the risks of them in the rodeo all too well. After what had happened years previously she'd become closed off towards people especially Cowboys. The way she interacted with animals especially horses was so incredibly sweet. As the story progressed i was anxious to find out the details of her past to see what exactly had hardened her heart. To say she was full of surprises would be putting it mildy. She was very stubborn and at times I couldn't help but want to shake some sense into her. I liked that she stood her ground even though it didn't work at times when it came to Owen which was rather funny in my opinion. She was relatable in many ways especially how it was hard for her to let others in. In the end I hoped she'd take a chance on love and overcome her past.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a read that's sweeter than honey and hotter than the unforgiving heat of the summer. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll smile, you'll blush, you'll get angry at times but most importantly you'll be along for the ride that is Rayne and Owen's story. It shows true struggles and its very realistic to the point that I swear during some parts I could smell Hay along with fresh air. This book is short but in no way did it make things rushed or incomplete feeling in the end. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I smiled throughout reading and I loved that I did it so much my cheeks hurt in the best way possible. I totally wish Owen was my cowboy and he'll forever be one of my top book boyfriends!! I can't wait for Rein In!! If you haven't already One-Clicked this amazing romance Buy it Today!! You won't regret it!! I hope you enjoy it and pick up the first one while your at it as well!! 5 Stars all around!! :)

Or will love buck out of the chute in time for a perfect score?

description

Eight-Second Ride was a great 5 star read.

Owen Daniels is a bareback bronco rider, whose horse gets injured and he take her to the local vet to be cared for.

Rayne is a single mother and the vet that has been caring for “Remington’s Lady”. When Owen comes to pick up his horse he is surprised that “Ray” is actually “Rayne”, there are instant sparks. Owen starts to pursue Rayne and continues to ask her out on dates to which she refuses. So he tries a different route to get to her. Eventually Rayne gives into the hot cowboy and goes on a date for him.

I really loved Owen and how great he was with Rayne and her daughter. I fell in love with him right along with Rayne. As the story moves forward we discover what has created Rayne’s doubt in cowboys. Will Owen be able to prove her wrong?

I have to say that Anne Jolin does a great job with this story, she pulls you right in and makes you fall for Owen. I loved Owens persistence and Rayne’s strength. If you like hot cowboys and strong willed women you will love this read. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series.

Gonna make it rain stars for Eight Second Ride.

One sitting, That is all it took to finish this the first time. In all honesty I laid down with this book and I don’t know where the time went, but hours later I emerged from the zone and realized I had not moved the entire time. Putting this book down was not an option. I never looked to see how much time was left in the chapter, I just continued to flip through, page after page until those two words greeted me at the end. From the first page, the prologue! I was sucked in at the prologue! Me! Who normally skims the prologue, I read it and knew that I was going to be punched in the feels though I looked forward to it. I needed more from the characters just as desperately as I needed my next breath. Each chapter brought more excitement and emotions from all of the characters.

I found myself laughing out loud and bawling my eyes out throughout the story. Tears filled of happiness, sadness and such an intense bittersweet feeling it is hard to explain until you’ve read this book. The emotional response that Jolin created from this story was intense and practically immediate. The entire gang at Willow Bay Stables is a hoot, though it is Owen and Rayne that steal the show. Their connection is intense and it will pull on every single freaking heart string that you have. Their relationship holds such truth even though there are so many secrets between them.
Rayne Brooks is the type of female lead I love to read about, she is a strong independent woman who has suffered from her own past tragedies but she didn’t let that stop her. She is a serious, no nonsense woman that tried her best to resist the sext cowboy intent on capturing her attention. Then again who can resist the perfect package that is Owen Daniels? I sure as heck couldn’t! Owen is what you think of when you picture a good guy, a helpful man who loves his family, and would give the shirt off of his back to a stranger. His perfection had no bounds in my opinion, and it makes me want to find my own bronco riding cow boy.

In all honesty 5 stars are not enough for this read. If I could give more than 5 I would. All of the stars, I give Eight Second Ride all of the stars. Ill shower the stars like a toddler with glitter at a princess party. You’re reading list and book Boy Friend collection is not complete without Own Daniels added to the list. You will ride an emotional roller coaster after reading this; you will not be the same but believe me it will be worth it. This is the type of story that I want to read again and again, over and over, and I could without it getting old. Each time would be just as special as the first.

“Losin’ ain’t easy, no matter which way you look at it darlin’.”

“Owen was this great, rough around the edges man who’d come into my life, out of the blue and pretty well demanded I give him a shot at caring for me.”

“He ravaged me. He ruined me. He cherished me. He worshiped me. And when he was finished making love to me, Owen owned every part of my body.”

Eight-Second Ride was a super quick and easy read. But, let me tell you, while this story may have been quick, it certainly packed a punch. From the moment you pick up this book, you are sucked you. You are utterly captivated by Rayne and her cowboy. But, it only takes minutes for everything to fall apart and leave Rayne heart-broken. It will be many years before Rayne will even consider taking a chance on love again, and when she does, she couldn’t be more surprised to have fallen for another Cowboy. Although, when she met Owen, she had no choice. Owen was a man who knew what he wanted and what he wanted was Rayne. He asked her out every single day, knowing that she wasn’t going to say yes, but he never gave up. He kept on hoping that one day, Rayne would see that he was an amazing man worth taking a chance on. Will Rayne finally take a chance on love again or will her past keep her from the happily ever after that she deserves??

Because Eight-Second Ride is such a quick read, I don’t want to go into a lot of detail and spoil the book for you. Here is what I can tell you. Eight-Second Ride is a beautiful story. It is filled with heart and love. It is filled with family and friendship. It is a story about finding love again. It is a story about taking chances and letting go of the past. Owen and Rayne’s story is one that is filled with so much heart. You can’t help yourself from rooting for these two to get their happily ever after.

Eight-Second Ride gave me everything that I was looking for and more. It was sexy and sweet. It made me smile, swoon and fall in love. It had just the right balance of drama and heartache. And of course, it wouldn’t be an Anne Jolin book without a sexy, alpha male. Eight-Second Ride was just the read I was looking for and is perfect for summer reading. It is a great addition to the Willow Bay Stables Series and I can’t wait to see where this series will go next.

*** ARC received in exchange for an honest review ***

Owen Daniels just got back home to Willow Bay Stables after several months on the road as a rodeo rider.
His horse, Remington Lady, got injured midway through the rodeo circuit and he sent it home to be looked after by the town’s veterinarian Ray Brookes.
As he wants to check in with the doctor about Lady’s situation, he is surprised that the doctor, in whose care he thought he left his beloved horse, isn’t the one standing before him.

Rayne Brookes, or short RAY Brookes, just moved to the city to take over her dad’s vet clinic.
She promised herself to never fall for a cowboy again. That is until she met Owen Daniels.

"Owen wasn't a complicated man. Nothing about who he was seemed a mystery. He wore his heart on his sleeve and his head in that damn cowboy hat.
It was so different from who I was - a person who played all their secrets close to the vest."

Fascinated by his good looks and his blunt flirting she has to remind herself as well as him, several times, that she doesn’t date Cowboys. But Owen is very persistent and she finally gives in to go on a date with him.

"Owen Daniels was all man, and he kissed like one too,"

They fall in love and Rayne’s daughter adores Owen just as much as he adores her. Everything seems like a fairytale but there’s still the fact that Owen has to leave again soon for the start of the new rodeo season and Rayne has a secret Owen doesn’t know about. Will they overcome those obstacles and have their HEA? I suggest you read it and find out! And I mean RIGHT NOW ;)

Eight Second Ride is a nice quick read with loveable characters. Honestly I’m not so much into cowboy novels but I loved Owen Daniels. I also loved Rayne and her daughter and the whole Daniels family. I wouldn’t mind to be taken for a ride by Owen Daniels, not at all. He knows how to treat a woman and loves the kid. Totally falling-in-love-worthy. So, of course, I recommend this book to everybody who loves a nice romance novel. Now I can’t wait to read Aurora’s story in the third book of the Willow Bay Stables Series Rein In.

As I do with any book that Anne Jolin writes, I immediately wanted to read Eight Second Ride. It's not my typical type of read being about cowboys and all, but that didn't stop me or make me hesitate at all. And while I don't love this as much as her Rock Falls series, she did make me love and enjoy this book.

Owen is your typical smooth-talking, slow-walking, drawling cowboy. Determined and relentless, he's the kind of man who knows what he wants and doesn't stop until he gets it. Owen isn't the type to put on airs or beat around the bush - what you see is what you get. He's sweet, thoughtful, a gentleman, and patient. Owen is a good man and I have no doubts you will fall hard for this cowboy.

Rayne might be attracted to the sexy cowboy, but she's not readily impressed and isn't about to go easy on him, she makes Owen work for it. She puts up a fair fight against resisting him, but you can't really blame her for giving in to the persistent, driven man. I loved that Rayne didn't surrender right away and remained firm on certain things instead of faltering no matter how much it hurt. It might not always seem like it, but she is one strong, tough cookie and I loved her for it.

With the exception of Hell on Heels and maybe Saving Steele somewhat, I've always know Ms. Jolin to have steamy sexy times and while I was a little disappointed that we didn't really get that in Eight Second Ride - just because I love my steamy moments - towards the end, I actually, truly appreciated that we were able to see Owen and Rayne's emotional relationship more than their physical one. Now, don't get me wrong, I definitely wouldn't have hated seeing that, but it was still nice to see the more intimate, heart side instead.

Eight Second Ride will break your heart, make you cry, melt you, and make your heart swell. It was beautiful and heart wrenching and wonderful. I loved it and I'm exited for the next book in the Willow Bay Stables series.

Eight Second Ride is a standalone, it's told from Owen and Rayne's POV, and they do get their HEA.

I Was Provided A ARC By The Author
(Possible Spoilers)

Eight Second Ride is another beautiful book in this series.

Rayne Brookes headed to Willow Bay, with her daughter, Ryley, to take over her fathers veterinary business. She wants things to be simple, to follow a routine. Days at work, and nights at home with her daughter, who is her world. The last thing she needs, is a tall, tattooed, charming and pushy cowboy to sweep her off her feet. She's still healing from a devastating heartbreak from years ago. Owen scares her, his wiliness to accept her and her stubbornness, he's persistence to take care of her, and his bond with her daughter. All of that and more make it hard for her to keep her distance. And she's finding out, maybe she doesn't want to stay away anymore.

Owen Daniels his a simple man. A hard worker, passionate about his job, the rodeo, love for his family. When he meets the beautiful Ray Brookes, he is captivated by her stubborn personality, her love for animals, the way she guards her heart, and her daughter. Owen will have to work hard, to get Rayne to trust in him, to give him a chance with her heart. But with a past she doesn't like to talk about, Owen feels like he wont be able to ever get close enough. But he's a man who will fight for what he wants, and that's a life with Ray, he believes it could be a great one. Now he just needs her to believe in it, in them.

Owen Daniels is one of the sexiest, most swoon worthy cowboys I have ever read. I want my own Owen Daniels. A strong, hard working cowboy who loves deeply and can rock a pair of blue jeans, yes please! I loved Ray, she was a great female lead, broken, sad, but she found her way despite all of that, learned to love and trust and be whole again, with the help of Owen and her friends, she's a great mom, and very passionate when she lets her guard down.

Beautiful characters, simple country living, raw emotions and real, deep love. Eight Second Ride is a book to read and again and again, one you'll fall in love with each time you read it.

From the moment you begin reading, Anne Jolin ropes deep emotions around your heart as you hold your breath through an intense prologue that sets the path for our main heroine, Rayne, aka. Ray.

A single mom to an adorable, spunky girl (Riley), Ray comes home to be the new veterinarian and has sworn off cowboys. Enter sexy and persistent cowboy, Owen Daniels. Rodeo bronco rider is coming back home to check on his leading lady in his life, Remington’s Lady, his injured horse who he left in the care of Ray Brookes, trusted family vet. It just turns out, he wasn't expecting a woman; a beautiful woman who looked nothing like the old man Ray he remembers. This was Rayne "Ray" Brookes, the daughter.

These two begin a game of cat and mouse. Owen is denied a date but he's not used to being told no. He likes a challenge. But, ladies, this isn't some brooding alpha who aggressively tries to get what he wants; nope, this man is all cowboy gentleman and oh, my word, did he make me swoon. He pursued the woman he wanted to get to know. He instantly took a liking to her daughter and their growing friendship was one of the most precious things ever.

I fell in love with these three together.

Then....then, Ray finally had her walls pulled down and she became owned by Owen and it was wonderful!

“Every kiss we shared before was rivaled by this kiss, because with this kiss, he owned me. I was owned by Owen.”

This story has so much heart. You'll start with a lump in your throat, you'll laugh at the wonderful antics at the Willow Bay Stables family dinner table, you'll swoon, you'll get teary eyed and you'll find yourself smiling with a happy sign in the end. Another Anne Jolin book that I loved. Her characters suck me in and stay in my heart. I loved reading Ray, Owen, and Riley's story and I can't wait for Rhys and Aurora's next which we get a sneak peek of at the end of this book.

I highly recommend this! Snuggle up with cozy socks, a warm drink in hand and get lost in the Canadian countryside for a bit. Get Owned by Owen! <3
