Stellar Drift

Rate this book
A wounded fighter pilot. A silent android. An ancient Ark drifting among the stars.

Ethan Lee should have died in the wreckage of Asterion.

Instead, he wakes aboard a city-sized starship with no crew, no answers, and technology far beyond anything he has ever known. Its halls are deserted. Its purpose is unknown. And the only person who might have answers cannot speak.

Her name is Stellar.

He brings coffee. She keeps the cup.
He plays a broken harmonica. She answers with music.

As Ethan explores the abandoned city within the ship, those small exchanges become the beginnings of an unlikely bond. But there is more to Stellar than he understands, and more to the Ark than its empty halls suggest.

The Ark did not save him by accident.

To discover why he is still alive, Ethan must uncover the truth behind the ancient vessel and the war that nearly killed him. What he finds will reach far beyond his own survival. The fragile connection between one human and one machine may hold the key to humanity’s future.

Stellar Drift begins a character-driven space opera of ancient alien mysteries, forgotten wars, and an unexpected bond between a fighter pilot and a silent android.

Book 1 of the Stellar Drift series and the opening volume of the Ancient Ark Trilogy. The trilogy continues in Return and concludes in Home, completing the first story arc of a larger space opera saga.

A space war that turns into a love story as a pilot finds himself saved from death, alone, aboard a mysterious ship after his fighter is destroyed in battle. It takes a little while to figure out what is happening and why, but the plot builds to an exciting ending which leads the reader to want to read the sequels. I want to read more.

The first 20% and the last 20% of the book were really good. I had to do some "fast reading" to get through the middle. Interesting ending that may entice me to go for book 2.
