Whew this one was spicayyy and sweet. While it was a quick story, it was well worth the read. The FMC and MMC fall hard and fall fast but they both second guess themselves and struggle with internal battles. You ultimately find out if they can get past their struggles or crash and burn.
She came to Storyville to escape her past. He never expected her to become his future. Haley became a traveling nurse because staying in one place was never part of the plan. New towns. New hospitals. New chances to leave before anything could hurt too much.
Then her life imploded in the most humiliating way possible, and she ran straight to Storyville, Colorado—a charming small town tucked in the mountains, where the coffee is strong, the gossip is stronger, and everyone seems determined to make her feel at home.
Haley only wanted one night to forget.
Oliver was supposed to be a distraction. A handsome mistake with a wicked smile and no promises attached. But the more time she spends with him, the harder it is to remember why she was so determined to keep moving.
Oliver came back to Storyville after walking away from hockey, ready for a quieter life with his brothers, his hometown, and absolutely no complications.
Then Haley walked into the local bar.
She’s guarded, gorgeous, and convinced she’s just passing through. He should let her go. He should keep things casual. He should remember that wanting more has never ended well for Him.
But one-night turns into stolen moments, summer heat, and feelings neither of them planned for. In a town where secrets don’t stay secret and hearts are never as safe as they pretend, Haley and Oliver have to decide if what they have found was only meant for the summer—or if it’s the kind of love worth staying for.

Summer Desires is book 5 in the multi-author Seasons in Colorado series with this installment being brought to us by Nichole Ruschelle. Summer Desires is a steamy small-town contemporary romance featuring a traveling nurse heroine, a former hockey player hero, a one-night stand, found family, summer heat, and a love neither of them saw coming.
Summer Desires, the fifth book in the Seasons in Colorado series, opens with fog softly drifting through the narrow streets of Storyville. A fog that softens the edges of old brick buildings and hiding all their secrets. It feels as though the air remembers all the old wounds Storyville's residents have suffered. Nichole Ruschelle has let this story unfold slowly, just like a lazy sunny afternoon, calm and filled with all the possibilities and longings.
Haley has moved from one borrowed bed to the sudden, stark light of the hospital halls; the past haunts her and wraps around her like a ghost, never far behind, almost as though a shadow follows her, refusing to leave her alone.
We see Oliver, a quiet man worn down by the mountains, now returned to Storyville. Storyville is the very town he grew up in, that shaped him, and made him the man he is today, and now Oliver is searching for the peace that slipped away like the morning mist.
Both Haley and Oliver keep their distance from each other, but when they are close together, you can see their connections shining through the moments where their hands nearly touch, the glances that last just a beat too long. You can see how Haley’s vulnerability is constantly wrapped around her, like a shawl, and yet you can also see that she still has hope that keeps her sore, tired feet moving forward one step at a time. Oliver moves through Storyville cautiously as if one wrong step will see the ground under him giving out any moment, and when he finds something good, he doesn’t trust that it’s going to last. I loved the way Nichole gave us a relationship bound in quiet pauses, small smiles, and a silence that fills a room, managing to say everything without a single word.
I absolutely fell in love with Storyville; of course I love small towns, it’s full of these lovely old houses with narrow alleys, and it’s filled with secret memories. Storyville is the kind of place that holds on to the people that live there, making it hard for anyone to pack up and leave. The nearby mountains remind me of where I now live; they're inviting but can also be a bit intimidating. Nichole brings this new life to the familiar small-town stories we love so much through her vivid dialogue. I love how she filled Summer Desire with honest moments and real warmth, creating a genuine, welcoming atmosphere.
What really makes Summer Desires stand out is how it doesn’t follow the normal path of romance. Instead, Nichole focused on the slow process of change. This story is full of heartbreak and healing, through quiet friendship and the gradual, careful growth of love. I love how the mountains are always there like a silent witness, shaping choices and echoing back the pain of our characters' longing.
Readers who enjoy stories where the locations and emotions are interconnected will fall in love with this book and find it living rent-free in their head long after they finish the last page. We also learn that for Nichole, home isn’t a place or a destination; it's the journey and the question itself, with the answer found between finding where you belong and the loss itself.
This novella is part of the Seasons In Colorado - Summer series of books and the gentleness and hopefulness of the tale helps it fit right in. There are themes of found family, grief and past partner betrayal, forced proximity, emotional drama and angst but it ends in a sweet HEA for the two main characters.
Haley is a travel nurse and after a heartbreaking betrayal by her fiancée, she moves to the little town of Storyville to settle her heart. She is not keen to meet new people but needs to move forward and put herself out there, so she ends up joining some work colleagues and making friends with others in the community. It is this social act that kicks off her new life and transforms into meeting the love of her life.
Oliver works with his three brothers in the family mechanic business after finishing up his hockey playing days. He is a happy-go-lucky fella who has no plans to settle down, but Haley catches his eye, gets under his skin and ends up catching his heart as well.
This was a short, instalove novella that was breezy and to the point, with no third act breakup. But the story seemed to rush through so we weren’t given much of a glimpse into the couples conversations and dialogue that made them fall in love. So both characters said something to the effect that their smex was a one and done and wouldn’t happen again and in the next few sentences they turned around and said they were hooked and had found the one.
There were a number of spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes but this little instalove novella was a pleasant way to while away some relaxing time. I have enjoyed the hours of respite this reading has gifted me and thank the author for giving me the opportunity to enjoy the arc and provide my voluntary review.
Small town charm, a fresh start and two people who absolutely did not plan on falling for each other… yep, I was hooked. ❤️
Haley was a character I really enjoyed. She’s spent so much of her life moving from place to place, keeping people at arm’s length and never giving herself the chance to truly settle. Storyville was supposed to be another temporary stop, but sometimes the place you run to ends up being exactly where you were meant to land.
Then there’s Oliver. A former hockey player returning home for a quieter life sounds simple enough, until Haley walks into the picture. Their relationship starts unexpectedly, and I loved watching that initial connection slowly turn into something neither of them was prepared for.
The small town setting was one of my favourite parts. Storyville feels like one of those places where everyone knows everyone, secrets don't stay hidden for long, and the people around you somehow become family before you even realise it. The found family element added a lovely warmth to the story.
I also really liked the emotional side of Haley’s journey. Beneath the romance, there’s a woman trying to rebuild herself after a painful experience and figure out whether she can finally stop running. Oliver has his own reasons for keeping his heart guarded too, which made their eventual connection feel even more meaningful.
This was a sweet, emotional summer romance about unexpected connections, learning to trust again, and discovering that sometimes a temporary escape can turn into something that feels a lot like home. 🥰
If you enjoy small town romance, found family, a former athlete hero, a heroine looking for a fresh start and that “I wasn't looking for love, but somehow I found it” feeling, Summer Desires is a lovely addition to your summer reading list. ☀️📚❤️
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Summer Fling That Turns Into So Much More! ☀️🏔️❤️
Summer Desires was such a fun, sweet, and romantic small-town read! Haley and Oliver aren’t looking for anything serious when they meet, which of course makes it even better when their one-night distraction starts turning into something neither of them expected.
Haley comes to Storyville after her life falls apart, and as a traveling nurse, she’s used to moving on before she gets too attached. I really liked watching her slowly become part of this little Colorado community. Between the strong coffee, even stronger gossip, and people determined to make her feel welcome, Storyville starts feeling a lot more like home than she planned. 🥰
Oliver was so easy to love! ❤️ A former hockey player who’s returned home to be near his brothers, he’s looking for a quiet life without complications. Then Haley walks into the bar and pretty much destroys that plan. Their attraction is immediate, but what I really enjoyed was watching their connection grow once that first night was over.
The more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to call what they’re doing casual. I loved the stolen moments, the chemistry, and especially the way Oliver begins to make Haley question whether constantly moving on is really what she wants. ❤️🔥
The small-town atmosphere and found-family element were some of my favorite parts. Storyville feels like the kind of place where everyone knows your business but will also be there when you need them.
A traveling nurse, former hockey player, one-night stand, found family, small-town Colorado, and two people who discover that sometimes the right person gives you a reason to stay.
Sweet, steamy, romantic, and full of heart—an easy 5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐☀️🏔️❤️.

This quick, spicy read includes two guarded hearts, an instant attraction and a small town determined to claim another visitor as a permanent resident. Both Haley and Oliver have been unlucky in the romance department and are determined to guard their hearts. A shared dance and a hot kiss leads to a one night stand neither can forget. They can’t avoid each other in a small town and then decide they don’t want to. Neither has felt this way before or made such a deep connection. Can Oliver convince Haley, who has become accustomed to the nomadic life o& a travelling nurse, to stay and give him and love a chance?
Haley is a sweetheart who draws people to her and loves taking care of others. Oliver is a charmer used to having women flock to him, but this time a beautiful nurse has shown him what love is all about. He in turn shows Haley that it is okay to let someone take care of her and put her first. His actions show her that he is not playing games and that she can trust him to treasure her heart. This delightful novellla has my recommendation.
Haley finds her boyfriend cheating on her. She is a traveling nurse and calls her agency to find an immediate spot somewhere. She finds herself in the small town of Storyville. She gets dragged on a girls' night out by her new bestie, Sierra. She finds herself dancing with Oliver, and one thing leads to another on a one-night stand. Noah, Oliver's eldest brother, throws a birthday party for his and his wife Charlotte's one-year-old daughter, Esme. What will Oliver do when Haley turns up as an invited guest? I recieved an ARC from Booksprout for my voluntary, honest review for NN Book Blog. If you're in the mood for a short, spicy read before bed, this one ticks all the boxes. If you love a love-at-first-sight steamy small town romance, then you will enjoy this book.
Nicole is a new author to me. This is the first book i've read. The story had great potential but felt like it lacked some depth in it. Haley running away cuz of her past. I felt there had to be more on why she ran to a new place. It could be just because he cheated. We really don't get much depth on the characters, either at least with Oliver. It didn't seem like his was very developed. I'm not much into age gap romances, and I didn't realize that this was one until I started reading and wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. It never really mentioned the ages of the characters. But it was a good, cute, short novella. Just remember if it's not something I like doesn't mean you won't like it. You might actually enjoy it..
Haley has come to Storyville to work, it was the first place available after she caught her ex cheating, her trust levels are very low, not only about men but women too. She's persuaded by her friend and work colleague to go to a bar, there she meets Oliver, he used to play hockey and is now working in the garage his father started, with his three brothers. He has no intention of settling down. When he meets Haley he's enamoured with her, but for one night, but when they meet again he knows one night won't be enough. Will she be able to trust him? Nichole’s whole shtick is novellas and insta-love moments. And she writes them well. Sometimes I just wish there was a lil more.
However this was a delight and we got to check in with some of our favorite brothers. Cole and Charlotte to be exact. We even got to see lil Maisy and now we can’t wait for Theo to give his happily ever after.
Haley was soft and delightful and I’m glad she’s happy. Same with Oliver. He went from grumpy never going to happen to soft I can’t let you go. It’s lovely.
This book was such an amazing read. I was so happy I picked it up. Devoured it so quickly. I was completely engrossed in the story. Haley and Oliver were incredible together. They connected in a way that felt so real. And their chemistry was just explosive. I couldn’t get enough of their interactions. This story was sweet and spicy. And I was so invested. Getting to watch Haley and Oliver work through their own struggles and com3 out the other side was so endearing. And that ending was exactly what I wanted for them. It wrapped up the book in a satisfying manner.
This was another woderful read for me, I absolutely love her books! Oliver and Haley I just ate them up in this book.Their banter and the way that they acted around one another, was to cute. The whole cake scene was priceless and adorable. I love the way that Nichole makes these characters feel so real and how close to home they hit sometimes, spice aside I absolutely love the way that she writes and how she encompasses real world problems like cheating, abuse, etc. Every book of hers that I read I fall more and more love with her writing style and characters.
This book is quick and to the point. Haley is new in town, working as a traveling nurse. Oliver is dedicated to his part in the family, having only one-night stands. After their night together they don’t expect to run into each other at a kids’ birthday party. The banter was fun and the chemistry between them is undeniable. Great book, the storyline, the characters, everything was just so great.
Thank you for the opportunity for this ARC. These are my honest thoughts.
Haley is new in town after finding her ex cheating on her. When she’s out with some work friends, Haley and Oliver meet and really hit it off. They have an amazing night together, and that’s what it was only supposed to be. They find themselves in the same place at the same time again, and they start to realize things between them could be more. Sweet and spicy. Love these brothers and this small town series!
Oliver and Haley were so cute together. Both not expecting anything from what was supposed to be a one night stand but their paths kept on crossing and with all of their friends pushing them together it seemed inevitable that the would be a couple. Lots of steam and some very swoony moments from Oliver had me melting. Loving this series and can’t wait for more.

It started as a one-night stand, but for Oliver and Haley it was a fast love. He’s a former hockey player who never..,dates the same woman twice and she’s a nurse who’s getting over a bad breakup. Heat- fast burn, explicit Bechdel test- passed Safety? Y Triggers? Cheating ex Tropes- Instalove, he falls first, hockey star, hello nurse, one-night stand.

Haley, you lucky girl! She ends up in the best small town ever to recover from her horrible breakup. Thankfully, she doesn’t have to wait long for the love of her life, Oliver, to come into her life.
I enjoyed those amazing dates which Oliver plans for and I wished I could experience something just as romantic too! 😍
Summer Desires is part of the Seasons in Colorado - Summer Series.
Oliver and Haley are super cute together. They both aren't prepared for a relationship but there is something about the other that can't keep them away. He's a bit of a player and ladies man, but we see him fall first which I adored. He was quick to set his past behind him and look toward his future with Haley.
Really good as always. Haley moved to this small town. She was a travel nurse. She was living in Austin but she discovered something and she no longer wanted to be there. She was working at the local hospital with Sienna and Lucy. Sienna wanted Haley to go out with her for a night of fun. She finally agreed and this is where she meets Oliver.
This was such a sweet and fun read with Oliver and Haley. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I truly enjoyed this. And the Colorado setting was perfect. A nurse and an ex hockey player…what not could you ask for? The way these two connected was great. I loved the sweet and steamy between them. The small town feel. Everything in this was great.
This was a quick, cute read. I loved Oliver but wish we had a little more depth or maybe a bit more of her background story. Definitely enjoyed this novella and I would definitely consider reading more of this series in the future.
This is a quick read that's both sweet and steamy. The characters have a one night stand and then run into each other again. It was fun to see them let go of their reservations and fall. If you have an hour or so and want an instalove story, this one's for you.
Book 3 of Seasons of Colorado story of Haley and Oliver. Now that was romantic and funny, I will say the way Oliver falls head over heels for Haley was swoon worthy.

I liked that Haley and Oliver had an instant chemistry even though they both tried to fight it. It is a quick fast paced read with lots of feels! I received an advanced copy and this is my honest review.
The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Haley and Oliver. The fast=paced story keeps us turning the pages with instant connection, insecurities, found family and steam.

Haley the travel nurse arrived in town to get away from her cheating ex and she is loving it, making friends, loving her job enjoying her peace until one night at the bar turns into two and more with the help of a birthday party.
Not only that, is the character Sienna or Sierra? Both are used for the same person. Incorrect words, tenses. Spell/grammar ck would help with that. And the song is Benny and the Jets, not Betty and the Jets 😡
they had no plan to love, meet in a bar, sparks fly, both wanted no commitment, but fate had other plans... this was my first book it the series, can wait to get my hands on the other ones....
