Delightful story of magic, flowers and trees, adventure, deceit, treachery, battles, and love and family. In a culture where kingdoms are built and life is centered around gardens with flowers and trees, we have the story of Eris, a young girl coming into adulthood with a mission. She needs to choose or find her flower in order to join the lessons of the kingdom's flower mage, Lira. Her sisters seemed to have been able to find their flower quickly. For some reason Eris can't find hers. She becomes friends with a gardener, Terran, and searches for her flower in the gardens. She learns about a lot of things in the search. She learns of a mage who writes excellent books about all the flowers. she learns about gardening and helping flowers to grow, She learns that she can communicate with trees and finally finds her flower on a vine that grown with a certain type of tree. She learns how to help trees and flowers grow and thrive. Eris and Terran become close friends and in the second book, they have adventures together. These adventures have to do with battles between Magi, an evil group, and the kingdoms soldiers fighting for the side of magic and good. So many things happen that it is hard to put the book down; there is no real place where nothing is going on. Eris continues to grow magically and learns more about her abilities all the time. She and Terran become very close and he becomes her gardener, something all mages must have. They are captured by a group of magi and have a terrible time trying to escape. In the third book, they must rescue the youngest daughter of the family who has been taken by the priestesses. Eris discovers that she is a keeper of the light and must defeat the magi who are trying to fill every place with darkness so the flowers and trees will no longer grow and there will be no magic. Very exciting tale. This is a great trilogy for those who love magic and beauty and everything that goes with them. Loved it. Suitable for youth and early teens

Balance is the Key

A young Princess’ inability to fit in turns into a journey of self discovery and self realization far beyond what is expected. While Princess Eris learns more about herself, her family, and her powers, she finds the questions as important as the answers. Deep bonds are formed with her Gardener and her Guardian, as well as with Trees, Flowers and the entire Natural World.
The symbiotic process of Man and Nature is depicted in lyrical fashion and the responsibility of a successful union is rigorously examined. A true Quest, the 3 book arc is fraught with angst, a pervasive feeling of wonder, and a driving sense of purpose.
If “An unexamined Life is not worth living,” then these books are supremely worth your while! Eris is impulsive, emotional, headstrong, and always engaging. Persistence is undoubtedly her middle name! Discovering patterns and constructing a Future, she works through an initially Hamlet-like almost paralyzing insecurity to become a veritable action hero.
And believe it or not, there is even a Happily Ever After ending!

Book1: Keeper of the Forest

In this book, the author describes Terran as handsome young gardener but I failed to see it. 🤷‍♀️
I did enjoy the story as this is my first story of a flower mage. Also, it pique my interest much that I dive directly to the next book to understand..

Book2: The Desolate Bond

Here as I journey with Eris to discover her powers, she meet lots of people and finally bonded. I really don't know what animal Shadow is... and then... the bomb at the end!!!

Book3: Keeper of the Light

I still don't understand a lot about Eris' power, as well as she, but I enjoyed the journey of discovery. These keepers are really not good teachers, though.. but the ending gave me feeling of contentment.. the series ends without leaving a heavy feeling in my heart.. 😊💕

Overall, I recommend the series. It was a quick and adventurous read..! 👍🏻

Decent enough fantasy trilogy, but there were some annoyances, such as repetitive phrases (such as "she shrugged") and the heroine's repeated stubbornness resulting in her inability to take advantage of opportunities presented to her, which made the tale somewhat tedious at times. Having said that, there were wonderful new concepts and action presented throughout the three books to keep me wondering what will be revealed next.

3.5 stars, rounded down to 3 stars.

Another great series

I am never sure where he is going to go with a story and a character but I end up so mesmerized by his character's every time I read one of his books it feels as if I have made new friends. With Eris you feel the pull of her desire to be something more than different until you come to the same peaceful realization that different is really a wonderful thing to be.

The Lost Garden: The Complete Series

While this series might be entertaining for younger readers, as an older reader I felt the plot was predictable and the story line was redundant and I found myself losing interest. Since I had committed myself to reading the series I FINALLY ,to my relief, read it in its entirety. Whew !!!
It wasn't HORRIBLE so I might consider reading another book by this author in the future if it was free.

learning to speak

Eris and her sisters are to be taught the language of flowers. Lira, the flower mistress, has them choose their own flower to base their arrangements upon. Eris cannot find her flower and it is that hurt and frustration that leads her to seek her rare flower in the most dangerous forest in the realm. it's amazing what else she might find.

fantastic, fun series. I just love the characters and the magic they encounter

Nature’s Power

Enjoyed “The Lost Garden” trilogy immensely. DK Holmberg creates a world that seems familiar and yet quite foreign. His characters are well thought out and you become attached to your favorites. He puts powerful magic into nature; and good (light) versus evil (darkness). You will be entertained and have a great escape from today’s world and its problems.

A wonderful series

This series started a little bit slower than some of the other ones I’ve read. But it quickly started gaining speed and kept my interest. I am glad that I checked out the whole series so that I wouldn’t have to wait for the next book. Now I’m off to find another series. Enjoy

I enjoyed this book. It had a good storyline which combined well with the action. The characters and their interaction with others was well developed. It was however a bit repetitive. A good read about light verses dark that didn’t just leap from one battle straight to the other.

Great story!

As a lover of nature, I enjoyed this series so much. It’s a story of family, connections and the power of life. I love all of his books so far although I read some of the various series out of order. I’m on to the next.

Great read

I was quickly pulled into this story and had to keep reading until I finished all of them. I really liked how different the main character was. And, the secrets and the connections that kept coming out were unexpected. Can't wait to read more books from this author.

A most beautiful trilogy which i have reviewed separately as i read each book. This is a trilogy not to be missed especially by readers who love and care for the environment and who feel a link between us the trees, and mother nature in general.

Not riverting

I had to stop reading the story because I fod it boring and thought it dragged on one subject to long. Not my normal genre. It started out okay, but as I went through the story I found that it was not holding my interest.🤔🤔🤔

Great storyline

It was about the age old story between light and dark. Also about how Eris finally found her purpose, even though no one would train her. She and Terran fought many battles together side by side. Very slow burn and clean story.

I really loved this series. I didn't know anything about this author and just stumbled across the first book, keeper of the forest. After reading that one I HAD to get the whole series.
It was such a unique story and so beautifully written. It was thoroughly enjoyable to read. The series follows Eris, a princess who doesn't seem to quite fit in anywhere. As the story develops, Eris challenges herself, gains new insight and forges new relationships with nature and those around her. Such a poignant reminder of our need to care for the natural world and to stop ignoring climate change.

I really loved the whole concept of this series, it was original and beautiful. However, the writing let it down. Half way through I almost gave up, but I was in love with the story.

To make this story great there needs to be much more work on building on the relationships between characters, and a strengthening of the romance aspect, which is lacking.

There was also too much repetition of some information and not enough detail about other things. Also, it ended too quickly.

This story could be great!

This book grabbed my attention at the very beginning and did not let go. There was a perfect mix of action and story line to keep you interested. You could feel the main character, Eris, frustration in trying to learn who she was and how to use her abilities.Eris never lacked courage or determination. As one book ended, it flowed into the next book perfectly. I had no desire to leave this series. I wanted to keep reading and find out what would happen next. I would certainly recommend this to everyone that enjoys fantasy.

Very enjoyable...

Good tale...original inventive storyline...writing sometimes awkward...would have liked all elements tied together a little more smoothly and with greater depth...but overall just what a fantasy should do...take you away to a new and unique never before seen land...
